This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Quite underwhelming. The romance between Peter & his girl is unconvincing at best and the teenage dialogue does not fit these high school students. It's far too awkward and puerile. The acting seems rushed and lackluster with Jon Favreau giving his worst performance since the TV show The King of Queens. The plot is thin with a terrible introduction to the supposed villains and the CGI looks like it was finished 10 years ago. This is by far the most disappointing movie I've seen since AQUAMAN and that is saying a LOT. Zendaya may have a reputation as a good actress, but she's terrible in this, being stilted with deadpan delivery in the oddest moments. Overall barely watchable. Expand

I just came home with the kids from the cinema where we had watched Spider-Man: Far From Home so I thought I would write a few lines while it was still fresh in my mind.

I have to say that it was a decent enough movie. I didn’t exactly regret having forked out the money to watch it in the cinema but that’s about it. It’s far from a great movie and the end scene…well it’s a typical really crappy Hollywood ending where the writer cannot be bothered to spend time creating something intelligent so he just goes for the usual sensationalist cliffhanger ****

As with the previous movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, this is a Spider-Man for kids, or at least younger people, movie which perhaps is part of why I am somewhat lukewarm towards it. This one did not feel as childish as the previous one but there is still a lot of teenage angst and rubbish in it. The plot is of course highly predictable as well.

The special effects on the other hand are quite good and essentially what makes the movie worth watching. At least to me. The end fight with hundreds of those drones flying around intermixed with Mysterio’s illusions where quite cool. A bit over the top perhaps but cool nonetheless.

Don't expect a classic or epic superhero movie. Instead, you would watch a comedy that happens to have action scenes because the protagonist is a teenage mutant. Overall the experience is rather enjoyable, but don't expect anything extraordinary.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spider-Man: Far From Home is a very interesting Marvel film that takes on the tough role of following up the incredible Avengers: Endgame. It does an excellent job of portraying Peter Parker's feelings of wanting to just let it all fade and get on with his life. He's been an Avenger, and he had to see his beloved mentor die, and that was enough for him. Now he just wants to try and get with the girl he realized was the right one all along, and have a good time on his vacation. It's convincing enough to make it an enriching part of the film.

The problem comes with the main villain, Quentin Beck. His evil plan and all are interesting, but the problem is that his motives just don't really cut it. Basically, he just wants to convince the world he's a superhero using the tech of scientists who got pushed to the side by Tony Stark and yada yada yada. The thing is that you'd think that Tony dying to save the universe might change his mind, and that he might think that maybe Stark got his just desserts by, you know, dying, but no. He apparently still has this grudge that is so strong for no reason that he wants to kill a ton of people just to make the world think he's the new big superhero, just because one super rich and famous guy fired him. It just doesn't really click, and compared to other parts of the film, doesn't do a great job of following up on the trauma of the events of Endgame.

Overall, Spider-Man: Far From Home is a pretty solid entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a good main protagonist, the usual incredible CGI, and funny sideplots, but certain things unfortunately keep the film from being on the same level as masterpieces like Civil War, Black Panther, and Endgame.

An overall great marvel movie and shows that they can still produce great quality movies after loosing so many characters in endgame and still touches on those points. They did a great job covering and acknowledging other avengers but, after the so called blip I feel like the Movie and characters acted like it never happened and everything was normal instead they should have covered the impacts a little better. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I found this movie to be nearly on par with, if not better than the first one. It brought to the table everything that the first was missing. I enjoyed that MJ and Peter finally get together, that Mysterio was a fantastic villain and that we got the heartwrenching closure to Tony Stark's death that everyone wanted. The acting was fantastic as usual, but even better so this time. The set-pieces are as beautiful as ever, and the actors are very funny, especially Ned and Betty. The action and special effects were also top-notch. All-around, the movie provided a fantastic addition to the cinematic universe I didn't believe could be furthered. Definitely worth a watch. Expand

The comic book readers will recognize, in a couple of scenes of the cornered hero, those claustrophobic pictures on every black background in which the Spiderman gets trapped in the vertigo of Mysterio, suffocated by images that bring to the surface traumas of the unconscious. It is the expected fan service, and that knows how to take good advantage of the character of cartoons situations and characterization of characters. What's more, the good visual translation of comic book aesthetics is an undeniable legacy of Sam Raimi that at no time, even in the films starring Andrew Garfield, was scrapped within the franchise. None of them are any good, but the other Spider-Man films at least manage to each stand out in a meaningful way. Spider-Man: Far from Home only stands out because it takes place somewhere outside New York; compare that to the other versionsNone of them are any good, but the other Spider-Man films at least manage to each stand out in a meaningful way. Spider-Man: Far from Home only stands out because it takes place somewhere outside New York; compare that to the other versions with Maguire and Garfield, especially the brave stylistic Into the Spider-Verse, which beautifully summarizes the comic hero’s spirit. This latest addition to the reboot madness is just hopping across major cities at a pace that moves too quickly yet too slowly.

Considering this came out straight off the coattails of Endgame, one may think, “How could Disney ever top that?” Here’s the answer: They can’t. But they should have done better than this, literally everything seen here happened way better before, even from Marvel Studios. You’ve got your red-caped superhuman generating matter-bending green glows. You’ve got your Nick Fury. You’ve got your extremely awkward humor. You’ve got your mass destruction in the middle of a city without authorities to escort people to safety. You’ve got your new 100% CGI shiny super suit. You’ve got your other new black super suit made almost alien-esque against fireworks. You’ve got your CGI-heavy climax. It’s no secret right now that director Jon Watts got his priorities wrong. Although his wonderfully trippy hallucination starring Tony as a zombie balances against the visual highlight of a Czech night party, it also breaks the needed tone of bittersweet grief.

The multiple major cities shown across Europe throughout the feature get breezed past as Peter Parker and his class vacations in each one. Think back to how Crazy Rich Asians tempted the urge to visit Singapore with its irresistible montages of crustaceous street food. The only touristy thing Far from Home does to breathe life into Europe fittingly looks put together by a high school student project: a montage of the class taking pictures of themselves (and the teacher before dropping his very expensive camera into the harbor).

While on this trip, Peter must go against a giant fire monster at night and has no fears or problems doing so. Yeah, he fought Thanos and all, but had grownups around then, he’s pretty much going solo here. Although there’s Nick Fury, he’s just there to be mocked as his intense talks with Peter keep getting interrupted for laughs. There’s also the new guy, Mysterio, who acts like a potential mentor to Peter by treating him to a lemonade… out of a bendy straw. Mysterio is a badly written character only motivated for anything by a craving to fill Iron Man’s legacy, and resorts to achieving that via overpowered technology that might as well star in Barry Sonnenfeld’s Wild Wild West.

Mysterio’s not nearly as bad as Mary Jane though; her supposedly sweet scenes with Peter become too discomforting to watch seriously. Between every version of the wallcrawling web-slinger, Peter’s love interests never found a foothold, and this is no exception. Like seriously, why are these two losers attracted to the other? More time delves into Peter’s new suit customization than into why he likes Mary Jane!

Then there’s Ned, while Jacob Batalon still gives a pretty good performance, his character just stands around solely for laughs, due to having less material to work off of than in Homecoming. He does get a girlfriend after knowing her for only a few hours, but that’s the only memorable thing done by him.

Although, the melodic aura of societal grief over Tony Stark remains present; acknowledging the candlelit street memorials, these twenty-three movies of the MCU now feel like one complete unit. Plus, an “in memoriam” section attempts to mourn the latest deaths, informing of something after the Blip (as they call it) happened: It had been five years since Infinity War’s events, which means those who came back were still the same age as five years ago. For example, if there were two high school freshmen, one got blipped and the other did not, five years later, the resurrected one would still be a high school freshman and the survivor would be a college sophomore. Pretty clever!

Then again, less time is spent on grieving and more time is spent on the not-so-successful humor of students wearing glowsticks and groaning over a sudden plan to attend a nearly empty opera house. Marvel really needs to stop hating fine art for once and stay focused on the story!

Okay, let’s face it: Everything Marvel does is at the end of the day pointless. So of course, that means Spider-Man: Far from Home lands among the year’s most pointless features. Peter Parker deserves much better than being demeaned over and over by Tony; thank goodness he will demean no one else again. Thank goodness too no one will any longer watch Steve’s mere stupidity. Now… oh dear… Thor is still around… Thanos, please save us!

This was a complicated review for me to make not because this movie was complex or anything but simply that I expected more from a Spider-man movie matter of fact a Marvel more. At this stage an okay Spider-Man isn't good enough.

Better I go on a mini rant I can say that Tom Holland does a good job as Spider-Man, the dude is just good at the role. He was the best part of the movie, he nailed the funny parts, awkward teen moments and emotional moments(i'll get into that more later). Another intriguing performance came from Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio, I have always wanted Jake in a Superhero movie and he gives a good performance although there is some corny dialouge he says but that was because of the script not THE MAN - Jake Gyllenhaal. His character had more interesting things to do but thats sort of spoiler territory also the scenes between him and Tom were good. The other cast members were either okay or forgettable. Jon Fanvrou as Happy was fine though he had one amazing scene with Tom Holland. Marisa Tomie was meh she doesn't give a bad performance or anything but so far she's been one forgattble Aunt May in the MCU. Zendeya,Jacob as Ned, Samuel L Jackson were fine. The other high school kids were completely forgettable.

The romance arc between Spider-man and MJ was cute(I guess) it was nothing special but they did the whole teen romance thing well enough. The action was actually good and better than Homecoming, there were some cool mermorable action sequences in Far from Home and without spoiling anything, what they did with Spider-sense was dope. One major shoutout to Mysterio though. Far from Home had one great, trippy scene it was awesome and weirder than anything in Doctor Strange, Marvel really went to town with the whole Magician thing. The visual effects were very good and my favorite scene of the movie involved an emotional and heart warming scene between Spider-Man and Happy and I wish the movie could have had morer scenes like this. There was also one tiny thought provoking scene near the end that I didn't expect from the movie. Oh and the credit scenes were fire.

Now there villain in this movie was corny and predictable, there's no other way to put it I say the twist from a mile away. I mean the reasoning behind the villain's story was weak but I have to say the consequences from the villain's actions were jaw-dropping (mid-credit scene has the juice) but other than that the villain was average the only saving graces were the consequences of ther villain and a couple of interiguing scenes between him/her and Spider-Man and how Spider-Man was challenged by him/her.

Now for all the stuff that bothered me. First off the humor, I am getting tired of Marvel humor man I mean there were some funny scenes in Far from Home but for the most part the humor attempts from Marvel was exhausting and forced . I mean not every scene has to be funny Marvel it felt there were no serious stages at times. The first half of the movie also took kinda long to get going as well and kinda dragged on. Also at times this movie was way too focused on Iron Man I mean I get that Tony Stark is a mentor to Peter Parker but it sometimes distracted from Spider-Man's story. The movie also couldn't focus on its mainline story there was the whole IronMan x Spider-Man storyline, then Peter struggling with being a regular teenager and a Superhero then the whole comedy vacation stuff x Teen Romance. I get that a movie can haver multiple layers and arcs and still be an amazing movie but Far from Home could balance the storylines they presented to us. I mean yes I enjoyed Peter's struggle with wanting a normal life and being Spider-Man and how he deals with the IronMan situation while also being treated with some highschool comedy but I neverr felt that Far From Home fully committed to any of those storylines leaving us with an okay story for a Spider-Man movier and again at this stage an OKAY Spider-Man, Marvel movie isn't good enough

I almost disliked Far From Home but when I looked back this movie was just fine, it had good performances from Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal, some dope action sequences and amazing visual effects, some funny scenes and some interesting story elements and the emotional scene between Peter and Happymakes Far From Home a fun porncorn flick but the overall subpar story, average villain, cringey and corny scenes, unfunny and forced humor and some forgettable cast members brings the movie down a lot leaving us with an above average Spider-Man movie.

Spider-Man Far from home is a tough movie to review.

It was always going to be a tough film to get right since it follows up from the cinematic behemoth which was Endgame, and to go from stakes that involved the universe, down to your friendly neighborhood Night-Monkey (tiny spoilers), it was always going to come down with a bit of a crash.

However, all things considered, I think it is safe to say that Jon Watts handled this transition well. No, the film isn't perfect, nor do i feel it manages to maintain the standards set by Endgame, but to expect that is frankly unrealistic.

What this film is though, is another excellent outing of Tom Hollands lovable Peter Parker. If you are a fan of Marvel, Holland, or Spider-Man as a whole, you will enjoy this film.

There are specific criticisms that I have for the film, but the majority of them are plot related, and also very much personal impressions/understandings, and therefore not entirely relevant when deciding the quality of the film. I also do not intend to spoil any plot in this review.

Overall, it is funny, charming, exciting and thoroughly entertaining with some small weaknesses in the writing and plot direction. 8/10, thoroughly recommended to fans of the genre.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spider-Man: Far From Home ~ Entertaining, but not quite memorable Directed by Jon Watts, this superhero movie disguised as a teen romance tells the story of the events after Avengers: Endgame. Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland, is overwhelmed by the fact that he has to step up in Tony Stark’s shoes, although what he really wants is just a vacation away from all the superhero stuff, where he plans to confess his feelings towards MJ, portrayed by Zendaya. Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio was perfect, I just wish his story arc was presented more in-depth, I wish they would’ve offered us more info about his backstory, what actually was given to us being a brief presentation of his origins. The twist consisting of him actually being the villain was predictable, considering that the trailer showed Spidey teaming up with him. Some particular scenes make absolutely no sense, this aspect being masked with comedy, hoping you will forget the weak-ish plot. I liked the fact that the movie was pretty well balanced, Peter always being caught up in some fights, which would interrupt the few chances he had to tell MJ how he feels about her. The action scenes were a lot more intense than the ones in Homecoming, they seemed more confident this time. My favourite part was when Spidey had to fight Mysterio’s illusions. That scene looked amazing. Another satisfying aspect was seeing Peter act just like Tony while designing his new suit. Leaving behind the heavily predictable storyline, the post credit scene was pretty great, I’m really looking forward to see what they will do in the next movie, leaving us with a cliffhanger, while the end credits scene was absolutely unnecessary. I must say that I would’ve liked to see how they handle the fact that MJ knows Spider-Man’s true identity a bit more, the post credit scene revealing his secret seeming maybe a tiny bit rushed. Overall, I had fun watching this light, comedy filled movie, but I couldn’t not notice the obvious flaws: predictability, plot holes, weak-ish storyline and I wish I would’ve seen more of Mysterio. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The MCU has now become so interconnected that it seems impossible to talk about it without spoiling the previous films. Heck, even the trailer for Far From Home came with spoiler warnings. So if you're the one person who hasn't got round to watching Endgame yet and you don't want to know any details about the "surprise" villain in Far From Home, spoilers ahead.

Still reeling from the events of Endgame and the massive weight on his shoulders of everyone wanting him to be the next Iron man, Peter is looking forward to the chance to not be Spider-man for a while and hang up his costume to go on vacation with his friends at school. But when elemental monsters appear to be attacking European landmarks, Nick Fury enlists Spider-man to help save the world with the new mysterious hero Mysterio.

But in the most shocking twist since it was revealed in Superman that Clarke Kent wasn't just a mild mannered reporter, it turns out the the famous Spider-man villain Mysterio is actually the antagonist of the film. He's a disgruntled Tony Stark employee who was manipulating Spider-man to obtain a dangerous A.I. designed by Stark which controls orbital weapons. So obviously Spider-man has to find Mysterio and save the day, whilst still trying to have fun on his trip and find a way to confess his feelings to MJ.

As a villain Mysterio is fine. He's not the show stealer like some of the other recent villains like Killmongerer or Thanos have been, but he's not a forgetful dud like Zemo either. Gyllenhall has enough charisma that he can pull off being both a melodramatic perfectionist yelling at his team to get his performance as Mysterio right but still be completely intimidating as a psychopath willing to kill anyone to get what he wants. Plus Mysterio gets a fantastic Arkham Asylum style of nightmare sequence where he forces Spider-man in to one of his illusions. It's full of so much twisted and creative imagery that it rivals Doctor Strange for the trippiest sequence of the MCU.

Though just like Homecoming, most of the films best moments comes from it being less of a superhero movie and more of a high school comedy. There's Ned who's still coming up with increasingly strenuous ways of keeping Spider-man's identity a secret. Flash is posting everything that happens to instagram whilst being an obnoxious whiny douche to everyone around him. And Brad the rival to Peter for the affections of MJ who has become far more butch than his classmates since he was one of the survivors of the snap.

But the real stand out of Peter's school group is MJ, with the film cementing Zendaya as being the best on-screen version of Mary Jane. Largely because her nihilistic charm and random irreverent comments make for some of the funniest moments in the film. Plus Zendaya and Tom Holland have a great on-screen chemistry, largely because they genuinely see like awkward teenagers stumbling through their conversations and never sure of what to say to each other.

Though in terms of capturing the character of Peter Parker from the comics, the MCU isn't quite there yet. Tom Holland is definitely the best on-screen version of the web slinger so far capturing both the quick wit of the web slinger and the relatable teenager that Stan Lee had always envisioned him to be. But a core aspect of the character has always been his ability and burden to overcome tragedy. They definitely make an attempt to capture this here with Tony Starks death casting a large shadow over the film, however through the films lighthearted nature it doesn't seem capable of reaching the heights of the franchises most memorable moments like Uncle Ben or Gwen Stacey which were essential building blocks for Spider-man in the comics. Holland has shown that he is capable of bringing dramatic weight to the character where he can, so I hope that the future films will be tonally confident enough to try capturing these moments.

But for anyone who enjoyed Homecoming, Far From Home continues to capture the same humour whilst also upping the scale with some more ambitious sequences. It's a lighthearted epilogue to the epic scale of phase 3 of the MCU and a strong promise of the continued potential for the future of the post-Endgame MCU.

A fun, funny movie to end off the current phase on MCU movies. It's nothing spectacular but is still worth a watch for one scene involving Mysterio alone.

Although Avengers: Endgame was supposed to be the final chapter of The Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige has recently confirmed that Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is the twenty-third instalment in Marvel Cinematic Universe, is not just the final movie of Phase 3 but also the movie is officially the final chapter of The Infinity Saga.

Eight months after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Midtown School of Science and Technology restart its academic years to accommodate the students who were resurrected by “the Blip”. The school also organise a two week summer field trip to Europe. During a fundraising event organised by May Parker, Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Holland) is told by Happy Hogan that Nick Fury (Jackson) will contact him soon about something but he refuse to speak to him.

Still mourning the death of his mentor, Tony Stark/Iron Man, and wanting to take a break from superhero duty for a while, Peter decided not to bring his Spider-Man suit on his field trip but his aunt still pack for him anyway in case of emergency. During a trip in Venice, Peter and the other students encounters one of the mysterious entities known as the Elementals. As the Elemental known as Water Elemental is wreaking havoc on the city, a mysterious superhero called Mysterio (Gyllenhaal) shows up and defeats the Water Elemental.

Later at night, Peter is approach by Fury who wants him to meet Mysterio, whose real name is Quentin Beck. He claims that he is from another universe of Earth and he is here to stop the Elementals from causing more destruction. Peter refuses to be part of this mission and chooses to return back to his field trip. Unknown to him, Fury secretly change the school field trip from Paris to Prague where the other Elemental will strike next.

Once again, Spider-Man: Far From Home is not just another good instalment in the franchise but also great sequel similar to 2004’s Spider-Man 2. The plot of the movie is very well written and executed especially the plot twists which you never seen it coming. Even before the movie was released in cinemas, the trailers have already done a great job in hiding the plot twists and even had Tom Holland to warn viewers about some spoilers from Avengers: Endgame. There is not a single boring scene at all and lots of funny moments. It is all fun and enjoyable to watch.

The cast have done an impressive performance especially Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal, whom they deliver an amazing performance in their role as Spider-Man and Mysterio. The on-screen romance between Tom Holland and Zendaya are very natural and great. The depiction of teenage drama and romance subplot between the two of them is very well done. It was really fun and romantic to see them interacting with each other and better than any romance movies.

Like all Marvel movies except 2008’s The Incredible Hulk and Avengers: Endgame, there is a mid-credits scene and post-credits scene. You definitely cannot miss both of these scenes at all cost. This is because there is a certain someone who is also iconic from the comic book show up unexpectedly. It was really a surprise for me and caught me off guard. Regardless, those two scenes not only serve as clue for Phase 4 but also a future direction for this franchise.

Quite a few funny moments. Has a very teenage vibe to it. Plenty of action keeps you interested. Suffers from being the first Marvel movie after Avengers: Endgame as it doesn't live up to the hype still fresh in memory.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spider-Man far from home is one of the best Spider-Man movies I’ve personally seen. The cgi is polished and although it was arguably overused, it is not an overstatement to say that the scenery was realistic. I enjoy the somewhat strong plot including ‘the elements’ I would recommend this movie to any person seeking an action-packed and humorous story. Expand

Spider-Man: Far From Home smooths the mood properly just right after Avengers: Endgame, nevertheless, also tackles the quality that the MCU achieved with Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War. Far From Home win some and lose some. All the characters are trivial and unfocused, which reveals the failures of the story to show its purpose. Misterio, far from being enigmatic, it's confusing both by his lack of finality and by his own mission; and Peter Parker, even after what he have faced as a superhero, seems to not know his priorities, and when he finally makes up his mind, explaining himself it's a forced act that ruins any dramatic value. It's not Tom Holland's or Jake Gyllenhaal's fault, who act accurately, but it’s the scrip's fault, which doesn't decide if to save dialogs or give more romance, comedy or action. Also, the irony in the background stories adds a dumb and annoying comedy totally unnecessary that takes away all seriousness and importance to the main plot. Outside from the bother that those failings brought in me, I will admit that the movie also surprised me. I don't consider the special effects to be good, but they gave life to a very interesting visual concept to explore. The matter about optical illusions and the transformation of space thanks to the application of virtual reality left me wanting more similar ideas. The action sequences are polarized and while the ones of Misterio feel reused, creativity is given to Spider-Man and he's able to shine with kind of clever choreographies. There are, also, impact points, that I won't reveal because of spoilers, that achieve to hang the film in a down to earth level of tension that replace the fantasy factor for shocks so realistic that can give the chills. Peter Parker has a lot to learn and that might not promise prosperity for the hero if he doesn't stop learning and star knowing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well...Now I know how it felt like when everyone was angry at the "Mandarin Situation" from Iron Man 3. Also, see this in IMAX 3D. Oh,and Spoilers.

This has probably been the roughest week of the year. Family reasons crushed us like a bug (literally),I had to pay a scary bill from Facebook/Instagram's impressive Promotion system (seriously, kudos),and then Spider-Man Far From Home comes up,which probably is the best Mixed Bag movie of 2019. It had moments I liked and moments that made me extra pissed (more so than Endgame, mind you) because of the same target you really want to be disintegrated: Avi "Venom" Arad.
While there's nothing in relation to Venom in here, this felt to me like a great MCU Installment that got ruined by Sony throwing out the stuff we didn't like in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and doubling the ante on that: a serious tone (that does fit, given that it's a sort of Aftermath made by Endgame) that feels unintentionally funny, random setups for more movies (which **** off. I'm not going to be all excited like the last time you did it [that wasn't Spider-Verse]),things that go nowhere and serious moments that end on a funny note.
Oh,and also scenes that aren't in the trailer. Eh,well. Typical of Superhero movies…
But again, this movie has pros. The acting was mostly fine, except for Jake Gyllenhaal, who is just brilliant (and I’m always a sucker for him whenever I see him on-screen) as Mysterio, and he as a whole is fantastic to a point. Michael Giacchino’s score has gotten an improvement. Not by a long shot, but it’s still better than Homecoming’s. The Peter & MJ Love theme is really sweet and charming, and the Mysterio stuff was just him trying not to do Doctor Strange again. The action is really cool to watch and yes. As everyone says, the illusion scene is one of the best scenes in the MCU. It even becomes Marvel Zombie at a point (which can we PLEASE stop with random Jumpscares in Franchise movies? Between this,Dumbo and Godzilla 2). Again,go see it in IMAX 3D. Not only it had a bigger runtime than Aquaman (in terms of IMAX Sequences),but there are several moments where they take full advantage of 3D,so that’ll make your 3D viewing all the more enjoyable.
But that’s all I can praise off,sadly.
When it’s not Mysterio doing cool stuff, the movie lacks in artistic and/or visual flair, and that makes the movie sorta bland. Speaking of,his reveal as a villain sucks so much. You can’t just throw out a “Yay. I’m the villain!! :-D” and continue it off with a slew of hugely minor characters (from other installments) to be like “Yay. Continuity!” to then go off with a motivation that I’ve seen done better in The Incredibles. That’s a Creative Clash that Avi would do. “But Tony Stark is dead,so that makes sense” NO. No. Even if he’s dead, you shouldn’t do this motivation for,say,6-7 movies. For me,anyway. And yeah, that mid-credit sequence freaked me out (only for that character),but when they actually did the reveal of Spider-Man being a menace to the city,it pissed me off in a way, because of how either the Raimi movies or the Amazing franchise took that out of the way in a hurry. Like, that’s literally the last thing I need to worry about Spider-Man. So,uhh yeah. I didn’t really like Far From Home. Shocking, because (outside the first 2 Thor movies and a bit of Iron Man 2) I don’t expect an MCU movie to be worse than...I don’t know. Ant-Man? Venom?
But then again,I’m starting to feel a bit of fatigue for these movies, and I feel like you’ll enjoy it. To apologize for the lack of good stuff in it,they even replicate the best scene in Iron Man 2 (where Iron Man and War Machine shoot a gigantic army of Drones),so what more could you want?

Mysterio, why his story arc was handled the way it was, is a mystery (pun intended). What's with the flippancy with Peter Parker's secret identity.Aren't such things closely guarded? It is no longer news that the any-thing-for profit Tony Stark, before he became Iron Man, made lots of enemies who would want to get even with him or in this movie, Parker, his protege. However, making it, again (check elsewhere in the MCU), the basis for the movie's villainy is a bit tired. The Producers should do better with the next installment, which it is clear there would be. Spider-Man Far From Home is a kind of coda and not really a new beginning for the MCU after the Infinity Saga but unfortunately it doesn't risk anything and is happy by only showing the basics.

Far From Home it's indeed an evident evolution in scale on Homecoming but simply for the fact that it was necessary for the character after Infinity War and Endgame. That most of the film takes place in Europe is irrelevant. For the argument it doesn't really mean anything.

Holland is still a nice Peter Parker and his work is more personality than acting, let's be honest.
Gyllenhaal is a solid addition, although personally I would have liked to see him as another villain.

Phase 3 actually ended with Endgame. Far From Home doesn't establish anything new with the exception that we will continue to see Spider-Man in the MCU. It's an entertaining sequel but very passive.

What I really want to see now is if Marvel will reveal Phase 4 and the future of their great franchise in Comic-Con or D23.

I think this is a millennial version of the original spider man. As a child I remember Peter Parker as a introvert reserved person even bullied that found his way of expressing himself behind his Spider man Disguise. I think Tobey MaguireI think this is a millennial version of the original spider man. As a child I remember Peter Parker as a introvert reserved person even bullied that found his way of expressing himself behind his Spider man Disguise. I think Tobey Maguire was the best one playing the role of the introvert but missed a lot on the comedian that spider man is. The second one that I dont remember the name was more balanced and played both but lacked something. And this one is a comedian in real life and as spiderman is clumsy. Since I feel this one has nothing to do with the original I dont like it so much, and changing the original characters in a Netflix style to promote diversity, feels like a way to overcompensating American racism as a foreign person its ridiculous feels even desperate. Anyways its my review my point of view, I understand that is missing a lot of things and that there are a lot of fans with more knowledge of Spider man. Its just my childhood talking. Expand

While the comedic high school hijinks may be boring for some, "Spider-Man: Far From Home" explores what's going on behind the mask of New York's favorite web-head, and peaks at the excellence of Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio.

The critics are crazy, this film is far superior to Homecoming with Peter Parker at his most vulnerable and probably one of the best developments of a villain. Overall a wonderful film to watch.

There are some entertaining and humorous moments, but the execution is a little corny. It feels like they’re trying too hard to make a funny post Endgame spin-off.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have to admit, this movie is pretty good, though not that pretty good since Spiderman is another victim from MCU.

I liked the point that Mysterio still count on his special effects like the comic, but i kinda didn't like on how the movie showing his plan. The story is almost similar to The Incredibles but at the post credit scene, that plan disappear and it almost seems like that he's changing his plan so suddenly by "unmasking" Spiderman publicly. At least J.K Simmons back :D

Another thing that i'm not following is Tony's intention on giving EDITH, the most intelegent, security AI in the world given to some young lad. Sure he's different but i still need some explanation on why Tony did that, also EDITH is somehow became less interesting in the halfway through the movie.

The movie isn't bad on my opinion, but at least they need more explanation for some parts of the movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Peter Parkers character from homecoming to far from home seems to be very inconsistent. In homecoming we saw Peter abandon his normal life to pursue a criminal who's just stealing some high tech weapons (the overall implications of that conflict in the marvel universe are very small.) In far from home Peter is presented with a world ending threat, massive and monstrous elementals that could consume the earth, but instead of confronting the issue and abandoning his class trip every chance he could like he would have in homecoming, he denies the call to action and only acts when Nick Fury changes the class trips course. Ah yes, we have yet another class trip plot line, and this one is not nearly as well executed as homecomings. Mysterios motivations and goals seem very... vague, to say the least. Exactly why he can't become an ACTUAL superhero, what with his illusions and the drones he seems to have mental control over is completely unknown to me. Attacking london and killing hundreds of thousands seems like a much more reasonable course of action. The fights in this movie are well executed, save for the fire elemental, which i found very confusing and even boring. Some have complained about "generic big CGI fights" and while the finale is big, and it does have CGI, i would not call it generic or poorly executed. The humor is good for the most part, but the amount of jokes that fall flat is somewhat concerning. I don't see any need for those jokes, and the movie is packed to the brim with so much humor that cutting out a few mild-nose-breathing level jokes wouldn't hurt the movie. Not a terrible movie, but i would only recommend watching it if you are a marvel fan that cares about the grand plot of the series, both spider-man and marvel as a whole, as far from home may effect the others. The visual effects are great and they were used in creative ways leading to some of the most unique action scenes in any MCU movie and superhero movie. Tom Holland and Jake Gylenhaal gave great performances and so did most of the supporting cast. The MCU references are not as forced as in the last movie and the villain was good, very well developed and with clear motivation, something not too common to find in an MCU villain.

This is hands-down one of the best MCU movies ever and it's up there with Spider-Man 2 as the best live-action Spider-Man movie ever.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spider-Man: Far from Home makes me regain confidence in this Spider-Man, which left me with a bad taste in my mouth with the regular Homecoming.

Far from Home hits many things, such as special effects and action, the villain, an interesting narrative, post-credits, a Spider-Man that has yet to mature...
In short, a good movie.

But it also has errors:
- Tertiary characters, like teachers or some students, are detestable, with a disgusting and tired mood.
- The relationship of MJ and Peter works decently (even without knowing the reason why they both like each other), but it lacks something to work just as well as the relationship between Peter and Gwen in "The Amazing Spider-Man".
- The dissonance between Spider-Man should only be Spider-Man or a new Iron-Man.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I won’t write that studio doesn’t understand Spider-Man, others probably already wrote it. No Uncle Ben who is sufficient for the story, no responsibility, blahblahah, Stark as mentor is a questionable decision, yadda-yadda-yadda, MJ is.... Let’s move on from basic stuff to another basic stuff. This is the worst Spider-Man movie ever, even worse than ASM2. The plot makes no sense. Like the authors of it had a goal to write a typical destruction of the city scene at the end and they did. Mysterio’s plan doesn’t make any sense(he explained all his motivation and methods in the middle of the movie — that’s stupid). What’s his final goal? Doesn’t he understand that his lies will be discovered? Its extremely naive. The SHIELD is another big issue here. Nick Fury and his organization are incompetent to the core. They’ve tried to explain it mentioning him being absent for 5 years, but it still doesn’t explain his lack of basic logic. And Studio knew that that’s absurd, so they’ve explained it with skrulls. Even dumber. Now I think that Kree Empire wants to eliminate skrulls because skrulls are fantastical imbeciles and Kree people praise the Supreme Intelligence. Or something like that. And also jokes. They’re disaster. They are so bad I spent half of the movie facepalming. Jokes about how characters are lame and fail at something and other jokes break the suspension of disbelief. You know why Kick-Ass is cool? Because some cool stuff is cool and not lame, there is a balance: people die and die in awesome ways, Kick-Ass is **** but Hit-Girl isn’t. Imagine a character fighting a villain, a very dynamic scene, but in the middle of it a hero becomes a giant butt and farts. That is a rough example, but my point is that a movie shouldn’t make a joke about everything. Remember fat Thor in the Endgame? That was lame not because he was fat and played video games, but because it was intended to be a pun. It’s annoying. This movie is much more of a teen comedy and it’s not satisfying. Some people say that superheroes are essentially comedic, because the idea of a man in a colorful suit is dumb? Well, I’m pretty sure people love superhero comicbooks not because of their humor. Also EDITH as a plot device is also weird lore-wise and story-wise. Why did Stark created it? Nick Fury and CIA probably would have wanted it to themselves and not to some angsty teenager. Is it even moral to create or use such thing? EDITH is a giant wheel-chair for the plot(for the epic city destruction battle) and another pun creating machine. The only good thing about the movie is the first battle with Mysterio: it’s trippy and thrilling. wise and story-wise. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "Spider-Man: Far from Home" is, admittedly, an enjoyable ride in hindsight, but does it have any depth to it?

In my opinion, no. The latest Spider-Man movie is another victim of the MCU formula that has plagued movies like "Ant-Man and the Wasp". Both seem enjoyable at first, but when you start to break the movie down, it becomes apparent how little-to-no effort was put into making it tense and dramatic. The first half of the movie is surprisingly boring and lacking in stakes or conflict and it only gets more interesting during the second half, where Jake Gyllenhaal's performance as the villain Mysterio begins to shine. Indeed, I might say he was the best part of the movie. Gyllenhaal's energetic peformance elevated the character to a more solid level and if it weren't for him, the dynamic of this villain would fall flat right off the bat.

I enjoyed the aspect of Mysterio being a special effects expert (just like in the comics), but his motivations being so contrived and forced didn't do much for me. Seriously, he hates Tony Stark? Haven't we seen that in the last movie with Vulture? Gyllenhaal is a delight to watch, but he can only do much with the material he's given and unfortunately, the material sucks.

I always pay attention to the overall theme of the movie. What is it about this movie that's going to stand out? What is the emotional journey for our hero? Well, I didn't feel emotionally connected to the character of Peter Parker throughout this entire film. Not one bit. You'd think Spider-Man, my favorite fictional super-hero, would do something for me. Sadly, it didn't. Right out of the gate, "Spider-Man: Far from Home" introduces a contrived internal conflict that made me roll my eyes. The conflict of Peter trying to step up to be "the next Iron Man". All the while, he's trying to build a relationship with "MJ" (finely performed by Zendaya). None of this clicks with me. It doesn't even make sense! In the last movie, he didn't give two flying f*cks about her and all of a sudden he cares about her? Where did this come from? And why did the trailer give away the plot point of MJ finding out/guessing Peter's identity?

Not only that, but the soundtrack was so unspecial. Parts of it felt borrowed from the last movie. Secondary characters were only used for comedic relief - although Ned continues to be the best thing about this franchise. The action sequences were fairly entertaining, but the special effects were a little overdone in places, particularly during the Mysterio's illusion moments. Another thing that I will never be able to comprehend is why Peter, the smartest person in the room (according to Quentin Beck), decided to hand over high-tech glasses - provided to him by his beloved mentor - to a dude who only talked to him twice. That was a whole new level of stupid.

It's a shame that this new Spider-Man movie wasn't good enough to win a positive rating for me. All of this because it's trying to be light and hilarious, forgetting key aspects that make a movie truly outstanding.

At least J.K. Simmons is back as J. Jonah Jameson!

5/10.
