It seems in the process of expanding Spider-Man's world the writers forgot to give the webslinger himself something to do. As it is, this comes off more as an ensemble comedy than an adventure, despite great pains to raise the stakes by having Peter and his friends traveling around Europe. The brightest point here is, ironically, Gyllenhaal's dark villain Mysterio. Unfortunately, the entire premise of illusion and misdirection doesn't serve the movie well because the twists are telegraphed way in advance and it just feels like you're waiting for the movie to catch up with the audience. A few good moments but utterly forgettable. Expand

Another perfect example of how average the MCU movies have become, with the only memorable highlight being the end credit scene!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spiderman far from home is basically rehashing the plot from spriderman 2 but fails in every way when trying. It explores the idea of spiderman having doubt about being spiderman and losing his powers. Peter struggles with wanting a normal life and needing to be spiderman. Mind you this is spidersman 4th apperance in this universe. He for most of the movie just fumbles around on screen pining over MJ which gets old fast. When he is spiderman he comes off as only a side kick to mysterio. Even asking him for permission to fight an elemental. Which doesnt make any sense when he willing chased thanos is space. The constantly compare him to ironman and give him full access to Ironmans inventory of inventions. They even rehash sceens from ironman to make the connection that spiderman = ironman now. This movie forgot who spiderman is and what makes him special. Having an actor just do funny things and say funny things doesnt make him spiderman or peter parker. The character is so much more than that. This movie just forgot that. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok so this movie wasnt as good as I expected it to be. It felt very rushed. It had a lot of messed up scenes like when Mysterio revealed his plan and when spiderman gets hit by a train . There was a lot of unatural cringy MJ and Peter moments there was a lot of cringe moments. Some parts hit hard like when Happy hugged Peter and when Mysterio said maybe Iron man would still be around if it wasn't for Spiderman. The crazy part is in the mid credit scene which I wont spoil for you cause its insane. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Peter Parkers character from homecoming to far from home seems to be very inconsistent. In homecoming we saw Peter abandon his normal life to pursue a criminal who's just stealing some high tech weapons (the overall implications of that conflict in the marvel universe are very small.) In far from home Peter is presented with a world ending threat, massive and monstrous elementals that could consume the earth, but instead of confronting the issue and abandoning his class trip every chance he could like he would have in homecoming, he denies the call to action and only acts when Nick Fury changes the class trips course. Ah yes, we have yet another class trip plot line, and this one is not nearly as well executed as homecomings. Mysterios motivations and goals seem very... vague, to say the least. Exactly why he can't become an ACTUAL superhero, what with his illusions and the drones he seems to have mental control over is completely unknown to me. Attacking london and killing hundreds of thousands seems like a much more reasonable course of action. The fights in this movie are well executed, save for the fire elemental, which i found very confusing and even boring. Some have complained about "generic big CGI fights" and while the finale is big, and it does have CGI, i would not call it generic or poorly executed. The humor is good for the most part, but the amount of jokes that fall flat is somewhat concerning. I don't see any need for those jokes, and the movie is packed to the brim with so much humor that cutting out a few mild-nose-breathing level jokes wouldn't hurt the movie. Not a terrible movie, but i would only recommend watching it if you are a marvel fan that cares about the grand plot of the series, both spider-man and marvel as a whole, as far from home may effect the others. The comic book readers will recognize, in a couple of scenes of the cornered hero, those claustrophobic pictures on every black background in which the Spiderman gets trapped in the vertigo of Mysterio, suffocated by images that bring to the surface traumas of the unconscious. It is the expected fan service, and that knows how to take good advantage of the character of cartoons situations and characterization of characters. What's more, the good visual translation of comic book aesthetics is an undeniable legacy of Sam Raimi that at no time, even in the films starring Andrew Garfield, was scrapped within the franchise. Worst of all, the logic becomes absolutely broken. Things stop making sense completely! It's like someone has managed to take the world of the avengers, which somehow made a science-fiction kind of sense... And turned it into a joke. An absolutely ridiculous Development makes the whole movie seem like a bad Batman spinoff! Except it's the wrong villain, and nothing makes sense... Mind=blown, in the worst way possible.
So bad, I had to stop watching to adjust to the level of ridiculousness. OMG spare yourself the trouble.
I have been re-watching iron Man 1 and 2 and they are like a 50 billion times better.
Any avengers movie is better. This is just horrible really just horrible.

The story felt lacking, redundant, and uninspired, character development was rather weak (especially with Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio unfortunately), and just a pretty underwhelming feeling was all that was left for me when all was said and done. Even a couple interesting post-credit scenes weren't quite enough to save most of it for me. The biggest plus I can give this is for Tom Holland (who's still far and out my fav Spider-Man thus far), but other than that, I mostly found this to be a forgettable and not so worthy follow-up to 'Endgame', and honestly one of the weaker MCU movies in recent memory for me. MCU's blueprint is shockingly durable or maybe it is the malleability of the writers, either way the summer has still some legs.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Watts is buoyed by the politically and socially fit theme in the film that we have been whipped religiously nowadays. On that very note, Marvel has always stayed ahead of its game. Evidently, Kevin Feige reports that The Winter Soldier and Civil War had political themes that incidentally matched the circumstances. And the director Jon Watts, unlike the previous installment, speaks expressly on such heavy matters since this character is told to be the front page news in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from now on. Carrying that heavy burden on the shoulders is not just this chapter but the lead Peter Parker played by Tom Holland where both the character and actor is going through the same phenomenon.

But saying that the script is trippy would be understating it. By now, we can all agree that this franchise has grown more that just movies. But even for the standards of a comic book story, this is one hefty meal to swallow. And to add more spice, the flips and turns are so bizarre that you are taken aback as a viewer questioning everything. Ergo, to lighten the mood, the Marvel knocks on its most controversial subject, i.e. humor.

This bland of good and bad and familiar and forced laughs never fits in on this trip, despite the fact that it follows a teenage love story. The film suffers only when it tries to be both. Light footed and moody when grounding the characters through small talks and supporting character and, escalating these verbal sparring into bigger aspects like mourning, fake news, responsibility and the most tedious aspect of a job; the routine. This transaction is not completely convincing. A laziness or maybe commercially restricted deadline can be pointed out at such moments.

The film is visually stunning. Fortunately, it is a part of narration. So sit back and enjoy the thrilling ride in big IMax screen. Speaking of action, the choreography isn't as spectacular as Marvel cannon usually brings out. But it isn't their fault. The storytelling doesn't seek for big antics. Hence, you can see them work hard on details like the way Holland hits on a wall and then falls up front after trying to run and match the momentum. These tiny notions aren't awe gasping but soothing to watch, thinking that the Universe is still in safe hands.

Holland is a good performer, there is no doubt about that, but a performer needs a good partner which he is in short here. Jake Gyllenhaal as Quentin Beck actually has quite a wide range that isn't even touched in here. His character has the caliber to carry the film on his shoulder, but the surface is barely scratched and as a result, Holland stands alone in the screen. Far From Home stays quite close to the Universe. That is its biggest win, derived equation looks upgraded and the funky hip and happening music in sync with the MCU's loud and crowd pleasing soundtrack.

Ugh. I will say that Holland and Zendaya are both amazing - their young chemistry is leagues better than anything done by Tobey or Andrew Garfield. And I'll say that the use of three songs - "Back in Black", "Vacation" (Go Go's), and "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" are perfectly placed. I also want to say that the Nick Fury sequences are fun, and the Aunt May stuff is awesome. So in the future, make MOST of the movie about human beings, and much less about the big, boring CGI fights. Expand

This was a complicated review for me to make not because this movie was complex or anything but simply that I expected more from a Spider-man movie matter of fact a Marvel more. At this stage an okay Spider-Man isn't good enough.

Better I go on a mini rant I can say that Tom Holland does a good job as Spider-Man, the dude is just good at the role. He was the best part of the movie, he nailed the funny parts, awkward teen moments and emotional moments(i'll get into that more later). Another intriguing performance came from Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio, I have always wanted Jake in a Superhero movie and he gives a good performance although there is some corny dialouge he says but that was because of the script not THE MAN - Jake Gyllenhaal. His character had more interesting things to do but thats sort of spoiler territory also the scenes between him and Tom were good. The other cast members were either okay or forgettable. Jon Fanvrou as Happy was fine though he had one amazing scene with Tom Holland. Marisa Tomie was meh she doesn't give a bad performance or anything but so far she's been one forgattble Aunt May in the MCU. Zendeya,Jacob as Ned, Samuel L Jackson were fine. The other high school kids were completely forgettable.

The romance arc between Spider-man and MJ was cute(I guess) it was nothing special but they did the whole teen romance thing well enough. The action was actually good and better than Homecoming, there were some cool mermorable action sequences in Far from Home and without spoiling anything, what they did with Spider-sense was dope. One major shoutout to Mysterio though. Far from Home had one great, trippy scene it was awesome and weirder than anything in Doctor Strange, Marvel really went to town with the whole Magician thing. The visual effects were very good and my favorite scene of the movie involved an emotional and heart warming scene between Spider-Man and Happy and I wish the movie could have had morer scenes like this. There was also one tiny thought provoking scene near the end that I didn't expect from the movie. Oh and the credit scenes were fire.

Now there villain in this movie was corny and predictable, there's no other way to put it I say the twist from a mile away. I mean the reasoning behind the villain's story was weak but I have to say the consequences from the villain's actions were jaw-dropping (mid-credit scene has the juice) but other than that the villain was average the only saving graces were the consequences of ther villain and a couple of interiguing scenes between him/her and Spider-Man and how Spider-Man was challenged by him/her.

Now for all the stuff that bothered me. First off the humor, I am getting tired of Marvel humor man I mean there were some funny scenes in Far from Home but for the most part the humor attempts from Marvel was exhausting and forced . I mean not every scene has to be funny Marvel it felt there were no serious stages at times. The first half of the movie also took kinda long to get going as well and kinda dragged on. Also at times this movie was way too focused on Iron Man I mean I get that Tony Stark is a mentor to Peter Parker but it sometimes distracted from Spider-Man's story. The movie also couldn't focus on its mainline story there was the whole IronMan x Spider-Man storyline, then Peter struggling with being a regular teenager and a Superhero then the whole comedy vacation stuff x Teen Romance. I get that a movie can haver multiple layers and arcs and still be an amazing movie but Far from Home could balance the storylines they presented to us. I mean yes I enjoyed Peter's struggle with wanting a normal life and being Spider-Man and how he deals with the IronMan situation while also being treated with some highschool comedy but I neverr felt that Far From Home fully committed to any of those storylines leaving us with an okay story for a Spider-Man movier and again at this stage an OKAY Spider-Man, Marvel movie isn't good enough

I almost disliked Far From Home but when I looked back this movie was just fine, it had good performances from Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal, some dope action sequences and amazing visual effects, some funny scenes and some interesting story elements and the emotional scene between Peter and Happymakes Far From Home a fun porncorn flick but the overall subpar story, average villain, cringey and corny scenes, unfunny and forced humor and some forgettable cast members brings the movie down a lot leaving us with an above average Spider-Man movie.

It is no longer news that the any-thing-for profit Tony Stark, before he became Iron Man, made lots of enemies who would want to get even with him or in this movie, Parker, his protege. However, making it, again (check elsewhere in the MCU), the basis for the movie's villainy is a bit tired. The Producers should do better with the next installment, which it is clear there would be.
-
Spider-Man: Far From Home smooths the mood properly just right after Avengers: Endgame, nevertheless, also tackles the quality that the MCU achieved with Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War. Far From Home win some and lose some. All the characters are trivial and unfocused, which reveals the failures of the story to show its purpose. Misterio, far from being enigmatic, it's confusing both by his lack of finality and by his own mission; and Peter Parker, even after what he have faced as a superhero, seems to not know his priorities, and when he finally makes up his mind, explaining himself it's a forced act that ruins any dramatic value. It's not Tom Holland's or Jake Gyllenhaal's fault, who act accurately, but it’s the scrip's fault, which doesn't decide if to save dialogs or give more romance, comedy or action. Also, the irony in the background stories adds a dumb and annoying comedy totally unnecessary that takes away all seriousness and importance to the main plot. Outside from the bother that those failings brought in me, I will admit that the movie also surprised me. I don't consider the special effects to be good, but they gave life to a very interesting visual concept to explore. The matter about optical illusions and the transformation of space thanks to the application of virtual reality left me wanting more similar ideas. The action sequences are polarized and while the ones of Misterio feel reused, creativity is given to Spider-Man and he's able to shine with kind of clever choreographies. There are, also, impact points, that I won't reveal because of spoilers, that achieve to hang the film in a down to earth level of tension that replace the fantasy factor for shocks so realistic that can give the chills. Peter Parker has a lot to learn and that might not promise prosperity for the hero if he doesn't stop learning and star knowing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "Spider-Man: Far from Home" is, admittedly, an enjoyable ride in hindsight, but does it have any depth to it?

In my opinion, no. The latest Spider-Man movie is another victim of the MCU formula that has plagued movies like "Ant-Man and the Wasp". Both seem enjoyable at first, but when you start to break the movie down, it becomes apparent how little-to-no effort was put into making it tense and dramatic. The first half of the movie is surprisingly boring and lacking in stakes or conflict and it only gets more interesting during the second half, where Jake Gyllenhaal's performance as the villain Mysterio begins to shine. Indeed, I might say he was the best part of the movie. Gyllenhaal's energetic peformance elevated the character to a more solid level and if it weren't for him, the dynamic of this villain would fall flat right off the bat.

I enjoyed the aspect of Mysterio being a special effects expert (just like in the comics), but his motivations being so contrived and forced didn't do much for me. Seriously, he hates Tony Stark? Haven't we seen that in the last movie with Vulture? Gyllenhaal is a delight to watch, but he can only do much with the material he's given and unfortunately, the material sucks.

I always pay attention to the overall theme of the movie. What is it about this movie that's going to stand out? What is the emotional journey for our hero? Well, I didn't feel emotionally connected to the character of Peter Parker throughout this entire film. Not one bit. You'd think Spider-Man, my favorite fictional super-hero, would do something for me. Sadly, it didn't. Right out of the gate, "Spider-Man: Far from Home" introduces a contrived internal conflict that made me roll my eyes. The conflict of Peter trying to step up to be "the next Iron Man". All the while, he's trying to build a relationship with "MJ" (finely performed by Zendaya). None of this clicks with me. It doesn't even make sense! In the last movie, he didn't give two flying f*cks about her and all of a sudden he cares about her? Where did this come from? And why did the trailer give away the plot point of MJ finding out/guessing Peter's identity?

Not only that, but the soundtrack was so unspecial. Parts of it felt borrowed from the last movie. Secondary characters were only used for comedic relief - although Ned continues to be the best thing about this franchise. The action sequences were fairly entertaining, but the special effects were a little overdone in places, particularly during the Mysterio's illusion moments. Another thing that I will never be able to comprehend is why Peter, the smartest person in the room (according to Quentin Beck), decided to hand over high-tech glasses - provided to him by his beloved mentor - to a dude who only talked to him twice. That was a whole new level of stupid.

It's a shame that this new Spider-Man movie wasn't good enough to win a positive rating for me. All of this because it's trying to be light and hilarious, forgetting key aspects that make a movie truly outstanding.

At least J.K. Simmons is back as J. Jonah Jameson!

5/10.

Its not really "Boring", but it feels as if it was written by different writers.
Action sequences no longer feel like a story/event is unfolding, but more about how we can cram as many unique camera angles/posses in as possible.
Once the fight starts, you already know everything that will happen, the only "unique" situations, are the ones that dont use combat/action. (But do lack good dialogue to compliment them.) I did zone out during the action sequences, and the "unique" sequences, since they were no where near as good as the prior marvel movies. (Neither in spectacle, nor in story progression.)
The actual "plot" feels too forced, making peter change his "go get em" personality too much, for the sake of plot. (plus there's not really much going on with the plot, except the end credit scene, which is the only part worth seeing.)
This is no where near as bad as Thor2 or Ironman2, so if you like the characters, its still ok to watch.

But be warned, even the comedy of this movie is different.
In the prior movie(s) the comedy is a byproduct.
Meaning, things would be set up for the progression of the plot. Comedy acted more as a means to make fun of the awkwardness of situations the plot required.
If somebody has to do something weird, they make fun of it.
But in this movie, they completely set up the plot solely to make jokes. The set up has nothing to do with the plot, nor its progression, and nor are they makeing fun of situations. instead, the plot changes direction, so they could squeeze in jokes that just arent as good as prior ones. It ends up coming off too corny.
Example: Two people start dating for no real reason, other than for a gag. They also stop dating, also for a gag.
It had no reason to be there, it doesnt help the plot, and it wasnt funny. (It was predictable due to how jokes run.)
Another example is Flash. In the 1st movie his Dads car gets taken, and wrecked, yet he loves spiderman in this movie, all for a joke. In the prior, spiderman called flash by his name, in this one, flash is surprised spiderman knows who he is, all for a joke.

This isnt to say all jokes in the movie are bad, there's some funny ones. But too many of the jokes arent funny, and are the "reverse" method of "It doesnt take itself too seriously". Instead, it jumps from taking itself too seriously, to not taking itself seriously enough, and hardly meets in the middle.
Hopefully Sony learns from this, if they ever plan to use Tom Holland again. (Probably not, they look at money signs, and see the billion dollar profits, and dont see connections like "people came to see this, to see where the MCU will go after endgame. And some people grew to like spiderman in the prior movies, so they hoped for an equally good story here."

This has a lot of similar vibes as Venom did, but w/o the initial flare of "new/shiney" that introducing a new main character has.

Such a waste of time watching a film that's not even about Spider-Man. What happened to the actual good stories about Spider-Man? Just simply ignore it? The casting is very wrong from the comics, more of the opposite or separate from it. Terrible green screen, probably one of the worst CGI's next to Black Panther. Jon Watts did a terrible job with Spider-Man, how to handle his world & the character itself. Notice the difference with Homecoming, making Spider-Man to much like Iron Man. "Being the next Iron man", wow. That's not how Spider-Man works, & terrible job from Holland, can't barley bring the character to life. Mysterio was good, but too much like Vulture as the same storyline, how lazy then making a new story for him. I feel bad for Jake, he did his best, what a terrible movie. Spider-Man 2 proves it's better when it comes to storylines & characters around Peter Parker. Far From Home makes The Amazing Spider-Man movies look like a masterpiece, what a shame to see the MCU lose it's grip on how to do Spider-Man justice, they don't try. The jokes were lame, cringing, & very boring. The worst Spider-Man film, reason it's a 4 because of Mysterio. Expand

The movie was honestly lazily written and had a ton of plot holes and problems. I like Tom Holland he is a great actor and he does a very good job in the role but he really needs better writing on his character as he is not a very 3-dimensional character like Tobey Maguire's incarnation was. Also again Marvel with its forced humor is here and it was one of the worst in this movie. Mysterio was a cool villain and Jake Gyllenhaal did a great job and the final battle I thought was pretty awesome and creative. The movie is also fun to watch and that post-credit scene is easily one of the best of the MCU. But, the movie really just feels like a pastime and popcorn entertainer as it doesn't feel like a big event which is a shame as it is Spider-Man and he is one of the greatest superheroes of all time. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well...Now I know how it felt like when everyone was angry at the "Mandarin Situation" from Iron Man 3. Also, see this in IMAX 3D. Oh,and Spoilers.

This has probably been the roughest week of the year. Family reasons crushed us like a bug (literally),I had to pay a scary bill from Facebook/Instagram's impressive Promotion system (seriously, kudos),and then Spider-Man Far From Home comes up,which probably is the best Mixed Bag movie of 2019. It had moments I liked and moments that made me extra pissed (more so than Endgame, mind you) because of the same target you really want to be disintegrated: Avi "Venom" Arad.
While there's nothing in relation to Venom in here, this felt to me like a great MCU Installment that got ruined by Sony throwing out the stuff we didn't like in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and doubling the ante on that: a serious tone (that does fit, given that it's a sort of Aftermath made by Endgame) that feels unintentionally funny, random setups for more movies (which **** off. I'm not going to be all excited like the last time you did it [that wasn't Spider-Verse]),things that go nowhere and serious moments that end on a funny note.
Oh,and also scenes that aren't in the trailer. Eh,well. Typical of Superhero movies…
But again, this movie has pros. The acting was mostly fine, except for Jake Gyllenhaal, who is just brilliant (and I’m always a sucker for him whenever I see him on-screen) as Mysterio, and he as a whole is fantastic to a point. Michael Giacchino’s score has gotten an improvement. Not by a long shot, but it’s still better than Homecoming’s. The Peter & MJ Love theme is really sweet and charming, and the Mysterio stuff was just him trying not to do Doctor Strange again. The action is really cool to watch and yes. As everyone says, the illusion scene is one of the best scenes in the MCU. It even becomes Marvel Zombie at a point (which can we PLEASE stop with random Jumpscares in Franchise movies? Between this,Dumbo and Godzilla 2). Again,go see it in IMAX 3D. Not only it had a bigger runtime than Aquaman (in terms of IMAX Sequences),but there are several moments where they take full advantage of 3D,so that’ll make your 3D viewing all the more enjoyable.
But that’s all I can praise off,sadly.
When it’s not Mysterio doing cool stuff, the movie lacks in artistic and/or visual flair, and that makes the movie sorta bland. Speaking of,his reveal as a villain sucks so much. You can’t just throw out a “Yay. I’m the villain!! :-D” and continue it off with a slew of hugely minor characters (from other installments) to be like “Yay. Continuity!” to then go off with a motivation that I’ve seen done better in The Incredibles. That’s a Creative Clash that Avi would do. “But Tony Stark is dead,so that makes sense” NO. No. Even if he’s dead, you shouldn’t do this motivation for,say,6-7 movies. For me,anyway. And yeah, that mid-credit sequence freaked me out (only for that character),but when they actually did the reveal of Spider-Man being a menace to the city,it pissed me off in a way, because of how either the Raimi movies or the Amazing franchise took that out of the way in a hurry. Like, that’s literally the last thing I need to worry about Spider-Man. So,uhh yeah. I didn’t really like Far From Home. Shocking, because (outside the first 2 Thor movies and a bit of Iron Man 2) I don’t expect an MCU movie to be worse than...I don’t know. Ant-Man? Venom?
But then again,I’m starting to feel a bit of fatigue for these movies, and I feel like you’ll enjoy it. To apologize for the lack of good stuff in it,they even replicate the best scene in Iron Man 2 (where Iron Man and War Machine shoot a gigantic army of Drones),so what more could you want?

He feels like spider-man, he acts like Peter Parker and yet the situations, the setting and the strange occurrences, this persistent need to make him the next'Tony Stark' and have him be in these 'Larger then life jerk-off affirs' are NOT very spider-man. Especially since the character is in his high-school years. Homecoming did a great job at demonstrating the daily struggles of this Peter Paker as spider-man. It had mood and felt authentically like something peter would go through at highschool. Far from home, I don't know, fees incredibly distant from the moral philosophical emboddiement of the character. I just don't think anything has quite captured the true nature, and daily struggles, of Peter Paker and spider-man as has the film 'Spider-man 2', here there is a moral story, a character faced with these challenging odds, Far From Home, and this new irritation of the character lacks so much of this.

This is hard for me, very hard for me to explain. Something just doesn't feel right. I'm looking forward to the next spider-man film, but damn. They have to get the philosophies of the character correct. I don't want a spectacle. I don't want a typical aesthetics. I want the soul, and the heart of Spider-Man, the humanitarian dealing with 'Great Responsiblity' and the struggles of Day-in Day-out life whilst having to protect those around him from great threats. i want the character to truly feel at odds, mentally broken. Homecoming did a much better ob of this. Hopefully next time it well be better.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Friend says that this film had few drawbacks, but it’s more interesting to dwell on the problems. One, he says, is its reuse of the Spider-Man: Homecoming plot (and also the Iron Man movies) of solving self-inflicted problems (something that I actually like a lot about the Iron Man movies). In that respect, the plot isn’t innovative. To respond, I think. Two, so many of his problems are, again, self-inflicted by way of Peter’s own painfully teenage naïveté that Friend didn’t feel catharsis when those problems were solved, because there’s no indication of growth if we’re starting are adventure at a deficit.

That having been said, we all agreed that MJ was a fabulous component of the film. She plays awkward teenager masterfully, all elbows and knees, stiff and slouched and guarded. Someone wrote to me that the usual drama for Spider-Man come from his split-identities being at odds, the trade-offs that Spider-Man makes for Peter Parker and vice versa. Peter must make personal sacrifices that come at the benefit for his super hero persona, and when he tries to make decisions that allow for growth in his personal relationships, they come at the cost of his effectiveness as a super hero. (This is, by the way, the most I have ever cared to think about Spider-Man, especially this iteration of Spider-Man, since he is essentially just a plucky kid with a lot of expensive gear, so thanks Marvel for making me think so much about how this **** superhero works.)

The film does a wonderful job of accounting for the things that actually make Spider-Man unique, his “Peter-tingle,” his slapdash clothing line. He’s no longer just a weaker, less durable version of generic super heroes + webs. He’s someone who has some powerful sense of the peripheral world of threats in the vein of what they could have but didn’t quite do with Dr Strange and are trying to do but haven’t had enough time for yet with Captain Marvel.

Posting this a little too late to have any effect anymore, but it’s a worthy addition to the canon even if it borrows a little heavily from the past. The end-credit scene is actually a lot more disturbing and brain busting than anything else in the film.

He lucks into doing the right thing and gets everything handed to him. He makes no sacrifices and loses nothing. Imagine you have to make the choice between saving the world and going on a field trip where maybe you kiss MJ (imagine this is a choice that is actually a "real tough choice"). But instead of having to choose one you just automatically get both because choices are for losers. That's the new Marvel version of great power. With great power comes more robots and tech and hey superpowers are kinda lame too now that I think about it. And wow, the Stark Jr/Iron Spider stuff is so thematically unwarranted and completely off base. Expand

It's got humor, heart, action, and can be a very entertaining experience. However, it is also a filler chapter where the only thing of real consequence to occur takes place during the end credits. Coming off of Endgame it's a little hard to get excited about something that doesn't further the franchise in any meaningful way. Although it does hint a little at where the future of Parker may lie.

With this being the character's third incarnation on the big screen, I get that some changes to his history were necessary in order to set this take apart from the work of Raimi and Marc Webb and ensure that he better fit into the MCU. That being said, some of the alterations do irk the purist in me (mostly the ones made to longtime supporting characters). The exception being the possibility of Spider-Man becoming the next Tony Stark. As bad as Marvel comics have been over the past few years, making Parker the CEO of his own multibillion dollar conglomerate was actually a pretty cool decision despite the bad writing that accompanied it. I was even a little disappointed when they decided to retcon that in favor of a back-to-basics approach. So the idea of Parker sort of inheriting Starks tech and role as the face of the MCU kind of excites me and I hope they actually deliver on all of this teasing.

Once again Spider-Man faces of the most well-realized villains in the MCU. While definitely a step back from Vulture, Mysterio at least undergoes a little bit of exploration as a character. As annoying as it is to see everything once again tie back into Tony, it does provide a satisfying explanation behind Beck's actions. The moments where he goes full master of illusion are some of the most exciting in the film.

I think Far From Home really revealed to me where I'm at mentally with this particular cinematic universe. Unless it's introducing new character or radically redefining an existing one's arc, my interest in the standalone entries is very low. Especially if the hero has been around for a while like Spider-Man. There's nothing I can legitimately make complaints about. The formula these films run on definitely still works. It's just that this one felt so inconsequential that I was very aware of its running-time, and for a movie that's over two-hours in length that's not a good thing.

I just came home with the kids from the cinema where we had watched Spider-Man: Far From Home so I thought I would write a few lines while it was still fresh in my mind.

I have to say that it was a decent enough movie. I didn’t exactly regret having forked out the money to watch it in the cinema but that’s about it. It’s far from a great movie and the end scene…well it’s a typical really crappy Hollywood ending where the writer cannot be bothered to spend time creating something intelligent so he just goes for the usual sensationalist cliffhanger ****

As with the previous movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, this is a Spider-Man for kids, or at least younger people, movie which perhaps is part of why I am somewhat lukewarm towards it. This one did not feel as childish as the previous one but there is still a lot of teenage angst and rubbish in it. The plot is of course highly predictable as well.

The special effects on the other hand are quite good and essentially what makes the movie worth watching. At least to me. The end fight with hundreds of those drones flying around intermixed with Mysterio’s illusions where quite cool. A bit over the top perhaps but cool nonetheless.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spider-Man: Far From Home ~ Entertaining, but not quite memorable Directed by Jon Watts, this superhero movie disguised as a teen romance tells the story of the events after Avengers: Endgame. Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland, is overwhelmed by the fact that he has to step up in Tony Stark’s shoes, although what he really wants is just a vacation away from all the superhero stuff, where he plans to confess his feelings towards MJ, portrayed by Zendaya. Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio was perfect, I just wish his story arc was presented more in-depth, I wish they would’ve offered us more info about his backstory, what actually was given to us being a brief presentation of his origins. The twist consisting of him actually being the villain was predictable, considering that the trailer showed Spidey teaming up with him. Some particular scenes make absolutely no sense, this aspect being masked with comedy, hoping you will forget the weak-ish plot. I liked the fact that the movie was pretty well balanced, Peter always being caught up in some fights, which would interrupt the few chances he had to tell MJ how he feels about her. The action scenes were a lot more intense than the ones in Homecoming, they seemed more confident this time. My favourite part was when Spidey had to fight Mysterio’s illusions. That scene looked amazing. Another satisfying aspect was seeing Peter act just like Tony while designing his new suit. Leaving behind the heavily predictable storyline, the post credit scene was pretty great, I’m really looking forward to see what they will do in the next movie, leaving us with a cliffhanger, while the end credits scene was absolutely unnecessary. I must say that I would’ve liked to see how they handle the fact that MJ knows Spider-Man’s true identity a bit more, the post credit scene revealing his secret seeming maybe a tiny bit rushed. Overall, I had fun watching this light, comedy filled movie, but I couldn’t not notice the obvious flaws: predictability, plot holes, weak-ish storyline and I wish I would’ve seen more of Mysterio. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Quite underwhelming. The romance between Peter & his girl is unconvincing at best and the teenage dialogue does not fit these high school students. It's far too awkward and puerile. The acting seems rushed and lackluster with Jon Favreau giving his worst performance since the TV show The King of Queens. The plot is thin with a terrible introduction to the supposed villains and the CGI looks like it was finished 10 years ago. This is by far the most disappointing movie I've seen since AQUAMAN and that is saying a LOT. Zendaya may have a reputation as a good actress, but she's terrible in this, being stilted with deadpan delivery in the oddest moments. Overall barely watchable. Expand

The plot is pretty obvious. I took a guess on what the plot was and I got it mostly right. About as memorable as the homecoming, but still enjoyable to watch. The end credits science was my favorite moment in the whole movie

it wasn`t a good adaptation of The Amazing Spider Man comics at all. Tom Holland`s acting was even better in the firt part. but Mysterio`s characterization was good.

EVERYONE HEAR WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR, HOW ELSE COULD IT GET 10/10?
**FOR WHOM DIDN'T SEE IT YET**
My recommendation is for all people who rather see a show, adore excessive comedy and who are passionate of a fantastic story, because the narrative does not taste good. In general the technic part and the story are the most that you are going to appreciate of this production, sure thanks to his $164 million of budget.

However, from my point of view, the director dedicated more to realize a show or an spectacle with a repetitive message than to direct a movie; if you appreciate a good story with a good drama, script, with deep characters and if we would add his excessive humour then it'll be a long-road with acid at a halfway and bitter flavor at the end.

Kids and adolescences with emotional and social insecurity have to come to see this movie, it probably like you and empathize with you, as it says, everyone hear what they want to hear, Besides, on a realistic story there are a lot to confuse, sorry to learn.
* About acting, just to highlight that one of them made his extra work, even though it was not intentional that the character ended up shooting out his own butt.

**ALERTING SPOILERS**

Pay tickets for the theater and the first to appear were 2 clowns and a lion with a challenge; It seemed interesting until they started joking. I thought that it would be momentary, but really since I entered and observed, I’ve already known how it was going to end, so it did. However, the kid who was behind me really liked, and Who didn’t? It was showy and with a lot of humour, I think I let myself tricked by the banner which seemed made of gold but it was just gold plated.

8/10 - Cameras, graphics and scenery: Definitely the technic part of the production was the best; the cameras were very precisely. Besides, the fight’s graphics and sceneries were very credible. Without them it would be a lesser to appreciate of this movie.

7/10 – Story: The movie shows a fantastic adventure story with comedy of a young hero. A villain hide as hero and with a high tech to make illusions is a huge plus that without this, it would have been catastrophic.
4/10 – Acting: The reason I decided to go was because of the performance on Nightcrawler of Jake Gyllenhaal, and even though in this was not in his quality performance of that movie, it was the most notably in acting. However, about his work the opposite would have been the most logical: “The fake transmitted much more and was more credible that the real character". Probably as a result of an extra work, but unfortunately ended up dulling his own character.
About the other actors, they all worked with what the director said, but we already know how the directing was.

3/10 – Directing: This production was too big for the director. The story it was very interesting and here is where it comes my critic. Why the excessive comedy? Some of them were necessary, but all the way through and Did it also has to be used to tell the story and to change sceneries?, all this didn’t let us appreciate any characters development or a good script and I believe that the director dedicated more to use cinematographic technics instead of telling a story; of course it was flashy, but a real movie is much more than just that.

3/10 – Drama: The personages flow process were stagnated by the excessive use of humour, that to the end, instead of having a comfortable walk it felt like a rock in the shoe.
3/10 – Script: Not too much to talk about this, the writer had little time, was new or bad; definitively the only who overworked here, even though was not in favor of the movie or the character.
3/10 – Message: Kids and adolescences with emotional and social insecurity problems have to come to see this movie, it probably like you, as it says, everyone hear what they want to hear. And who doesn’t want to hear a story to overcome his insecurity problems and much more when it’s so realistic. Besides, they probably just want you to follow the marvel stories in order to consume $$, Of course, they need more than its 275 million people who watched and its $1100 million on sales.
Definitely it will cure you because everybody is Spider-man and of course who doesn’t have money, Further, a real story is always appreciated in order to learn things of life, Finally, hoping that the 32 million children with symptoms and attention on mental health who watched were cured by this story.

5/10 – Summary: The story, cameras, scenography and graphics were the best of the movie; and of course there are important factors that add a plus to …, but to what? It was like place a Tesla’s or Ferrari’s case to a Chevrolet VEO, from far it would seem fast and showy but when you drive you realize that it is just for a counter and not for a real good movie.

8/10 - Cameras & scenography
7.5/10 - Graphics
7/10 - Story
4/10 - Acting
3/10 - Directing
3/10 - Drama
3/10 - Script

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a tough one because I'm a huge Spiderman fan but I have trouble with this one because first anyone who knows Mystrio from the comics saw the twist coming from a mile away secondly Peter & MJ relationship seems really forced because before this there was no indication of them liking each other they only shared a few scenes together in homecoming now all of a sudden they like each other no build up nothing plus Holland/Zendaya really don't seem to have chemistry unlike Maguire/Dunst & Garfield/Stone thirdly it doesn't really make sense why would Tony Stark leave weapons of mass destruction in the hands of a teenager instead of someone like rhody or pepper but the film does have some good sequences like the final battle & when Mystrio uses the drones to mess with Peter & the mid credit scene is the best part of the movie but despite that I found the majority of it to be quite boring it's in the okish category Expand

Back in New York and with Iron Man gone, everyone’s asking Spider-Man if he is going to be the new lead Avenger; Holland is an endearing and quick-witted enough presence to suggest he might just be up to the task.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Improvement over the first movie, but still gets a lot of things wrong. The way Peter just gives the glasses to Mysterio, a man he met 2 days ago, which also turns out to be exactly what he wanted, feels extremely forced, similar to how Vulture finds out Peter is Spider-man in Homecoming. The Ned sub-plot turns him into a cartoon character that takes you out of the movie entirely, MJ is unique but her comedy doesn't always land. Happy is a good character, but sadly he is used to somehow link Peter to Stark, something we have watched till exhaustion. My main gripe is that the first movie is about Peter trying to prove himself worthy, and he does. But now its like all that development was thrown in the trash, also after facing Thanos twice, Earth problems should be a walk in the park for him. Expand

Can't say I am a fan of the teen Zen female. Does she not have a last name? I don't particularly enjoy her acting either.

Ditch the techno-suit and bring back what made Spider-Man an enjoyable character.

Let's see: teens go to Washington in movie 1 and Spidey appears. Teens go to Europe and Spidey appears. Unless one is a complete moron - which these teens appear to be - it is not difficult to assume that one of them (not the fat ones) is actually Spider-Man. Taking that logic further, the missing one must be Spider-Man.

This does not bode well for future Spider movies.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is a 2019 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is the sequel to Spider-Man:Spider-Man: Far From Home is a 2019 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and the 23rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Jon Watts, written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, J. B. Smoove, Jacob Batalon, Martin Starr, Marisa Tomei, and Jake Gyllenhaal. In the film, Parker is recruited by Nick Fury (Jackson) and Mysterio (Gyllenhaal) to face the Elementals while he is on a school trip to Europe.

Discussions for a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming began by October 2016, and the project was confirmed later that year. Holland, Watts, and the writers were all set to return by the end of 2017. In 2018, Jackson and Gyllenhaal joined the cast as Fury and Mysterio, respectively. Holland revealed the sequel's title ahead of filming, which began that July and took place in England, the Czech Republic, Italy, and the New York metropolitan area. Production wrapped in October 2018. The marketing campaign is one of the most expensive for a film ever and attempted to avoid revealing spoilers for Avengers: Endgame prior to its April 2019 release.

Spider-Man: Far From Home premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre on June 26, 2019, and was theatrically released in the United States on July 2, as the last film in Phase Three of the MCU. The film received positive reviews with praise for its humor, action sequences, visuals, and the performances of Holland and Gyllenhaal. It grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide, making it the first Spider-Man film to pass the billion-dollar mark, the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2019, and became Sony Pictures' highest-grossing film and the 24th-highest-grossing film of all time. A sequel, Spider-Man: No Way Home, was released in December 2021.
