I really like the inclusion of Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya). He is serious, yet funny with his British accent, which is also Daniel Kaluuya’s native language.

The story continues the journey of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), who has been Spider-Man for a year and four months. As he navigates the multiverse, Miles must find his place while facing his past and confronting new challenges.

This film delivers an exciting multiverse adventure, packed with surprising Easter eggs for Spider-Man fans to enjoy. The storyline fits perfectly within the realm of animated superhero movies, providing a solid foundation for the narrative of superheroes. The film has a lot of twists and turns, which keeps the story engaging throughout. The camera work is incredible and seamless, especially how they formatted the graphics and shape patterns, with no noticeable issues. Shameik Moore delivers an outstanding performance as Miles Morales, embodying the essence of both Spider-Man and Miles, who is just a kid that has superpowers. Hailee Steinfeld portrays an ideal daughter and friend who cannot understand why there is chemistry between her and Spider-Man, which showcases her exceptional acting abilities. Jason Schwartzman, as The Spot, brings an intriguing twist and laughter with a sense of darkness to the character, challenging our expectations. The movie concludes with exceptional music and an ending that left me on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating the next installment.

The film’s message: "You can't save everyone you want," reminds viewers of the limitations that come with being a hero and how you shouldn’t forget to be yourself. It's important to note that there is a small amount of profanity in this film, so parents should take that into consideration. I give Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse 4 out of 5 stars and I recommend it for 12 to 18, plus adults. It swings into theaters June 2, 2023. By Rayce S., KIDS FIRST!

I think, the sequel is a victim of the success (critical, commercial and artistic) of the first installment. The producers took that success as licence for what turned out to be the content of the sequel. Four things made this experience unsatisfactory for me. The Opening scene with Gwen was boring and an ill-advised start to the movie; there were numerous scenes that could have been handled in much shorter time periods; there were too many spidermen and timelines (that there are many does not mean so many have to be crammed into one movie). The fourth, was the culmination of the first two, which took up unnecessary time, the story was not concluded in this movie, there is to be a second part. Not good. I will not take away from the movie, the fact that the things that made the first installment an outstanding movie are still there. There are two areas in the movie, where things were moved up a notch from the first; In a scene Miles and Gwen have a full fledged conversation while web-slinging, and then continue the conversation, while stationary but hanging (actually sitting) upside down from a the top of a skyscrapper. My opinion of this movie is mixed. Expand

This is more then some animated movie made by Disney, this is a piece of art. Everything from the spectacular and amazing visuals to the the crazy story that they delivered was just perfect. I've never loved an animated movie this much in my life.

Miles's story was upgraded to the next level so is Gwen's. Miguel O'Hara poses as an amazing anti hero like villain. Along with the spot which was unsettling but they could've did a better job in making him even more unsettling. All the small cameos and details were perfect. From all the spider people to the spider villains and all the other universes, this truly was an eyegasm and overall for Spidey nerds this is an animated movie you'll never forget, it truly is a masterpiece.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The greatest Spider-Man movie. Possibly the greatest comic book movie. One of the best animated movies. One of my favorite movies. I was nervous going in to the movie because the first one was so good and I didn't want them to mess this one up. Well, I can confidently say, that they DID NOT mess it up. From the animation and sound design to the writing and storytelling, this movie excels at it all. Somehow, this movie made me emotional just from the colors. I didn't think they would be able to make another theme as good as Prowler's from the first movie, but somehow they did, and maybe they did it even better. Miguel O'Hara's theme was on the same level as Prowler's. Menacing and goosebump-causing. It even pays homage to his themes from previous media and even just other Spider-Man themes. Without any exaggeration, THE BEST animation in any movie as of now. Huge shout out to the 1000 artists who worked on this movie. This movie made me feel like a kid again. The giddiness I felt when I saw some of the scenes in this movie was so extreme. I got goosebumps and cried multiple times during this movie. The movie really captures what it means to be Spider-Man. The focus on the relationships between the characters in the first hour of this movie is genius. I love the way they flesh out Miles' character and make the relationship between him and his parents much more dynamic, believable, and emotional. The extra screen time and development we get of Gwen Stacy's (Spider-Gwen's) character is executed to perfection and was much needed. Miguel O'Hara is a compelling and very complex antagonist. Also, they took a random character like The Spot and turned him into one of the most compelling, amazing, and terrifying villains I have seen. The conflicts between Miles and Miguel and Miles and Spot were weaved together in a way that didn't make the movie feel cluttered in the slightest. Just like the first movie, this movie is an instant classic and will influence people for decades. The effect of the first movie has already been felt in the past 4-5 years, god knows what this one will do. This movie is a work of art and deserves to be praised forever for its innovation and self expression. This movie will make people who don't respect the animation medium rethink their ideals. This movie is near perfect and the only "bad" part about it was the fact that it ended. I could have watched 10 hours of that absolute masterpiece. I am unbelievably hyped for the next movie and I can hardly wait. This is one of my favorite movies ever and it will likely stay that way for a very long time.

This is officially a CUM3rd certified "10/10 Must See" movie. TLDR: A masterpiece. A literal work of art. One of my favorite movies.

Although I feel the 'Superhero' film genre is oversaturated and has been slowly declining in quality; I am happy to say that this movie has been excluded from the current downturn. Across the Spider-Verse's beautiful and fluent animation, great story, and spectacular acting are all examples of filmmaking in its purest and most creative form. The only problem's I have with the film are centered around some issues with its pacing, primarily how it ends on a massive cliffhanger, and that some of the audio was quite hard to hear, which could be a problem with my local theater's equipment and not the movie itself. You should absolutely watch Across the Spider-Verse, but ready up for a lengthy wait to get a solid conclusion to the story set up in the film. Expand

Sadly Miles Morales is only Miles Morales - selfish kid who does not want to face the consequences... Music well integrated. Lots of cameos, easter eggs and jokes. Multiverse done right! Deserved 8/10... But wait: did I mention there is no end? No conclusion, no climax, just cut and TO BE CONTINUED! WT.? Very disappointing. I thought the first movie was groundbreaking, inventive and tightly scripted. The first 20 minutes of the second movie is sublime, then the opening credits arrive and it's mostly more of the first movie dialed up to the max. The pacing is a little uneven, the first film had a great flow but in this the pacing is overly slow in places and drawn out and frantic in others especially as it rushes to a cliffhanger ending. I wish they had finished the story in a single movie rather than going for the cash-grab route by kind of forcing people to watch the next movie to see the ending. They could have finished the episode with better pacing, such as by chopping out the party scenes which were just repeating plot points that had already been made earlier. The sound in the IMAX screening was perfect, in the Dolby Atmos screening it was overly loud and caused some of the dialogue to be too be difficult to hear in places. Full credit to the animators, they have created another visual masterpiece, with gorgeous design again elevating the medium to new levels, each world is unique yet they all feel cohesive. I rate the first film a perfect 10, this one with a tighter script and the whole story in a single film would have been a 10 again, but overall its not quite as good as the first. I will definitely buy it on 4k UHD to watch at home again. Expand

The high point of wonders here for me comes late in the 2nd act when Miles and his mom talk alone. The mom is the most successful animated character in this film. The film goes on for another 20 minutes of wonderful lyrical visuals. Then I lost track of the plot almost completely. How a multiverse is affected by tangled webs of various Spider-people didn't work as an emotional thru-line for me. ANIMATION JAZZ returns! Animation nerds will know many effects here hark back to animation experiments in the 1950s-1960s of John and Faith Hubley et al. Generally these old pretentious visual effects are put to much better story use here--if several times overdone to the point of sensory overload. DC comics fans will note the Green Lantern Corps clearly inspired the Spider-person Corps here. Be ready for several jolting new spider-personas. I liked their choices. This is another movie which would play longer in theaters if 20 minutes of bloat was cut out; in this case, from end of 2nd act. Expand

I was excited because I considered Into the Spider-Verse not only one of my favourite animated movies but one of my favourite movies, period. So I was concerned over whether the sequel would carry its' heavy legacy or succumb to "sequelitis". Well I didn't like this film.

I LOVED THIS FILM! The animation is once again stellar, challenging what animation is capable of. It makes me realise more superhero films need to be animated to not only better capture the spirit of the comic it is adapted from but also show more than what can be done in live-action. The characters are still as enjoyable as ever with even more colourful creative characters added to the line-up, with a personal highlight, being Pavit Prabhakar, voiced by Deadpool's delightful Karan Soni. Not once did I ever feel disengaged with so much thrilling action, suspensing drama and beautiful visuals on the screen. The Spot is an incredible villain with a large range transforming over the film from a hilarious goofball to a complete psychopath with nightmarish visuals. Every True Believer will have their jaw dropped for the whole film looking at all the different easter eggs scattered around this masterpiece. If I only had one complaint, is that the visuals, while stunning to look at, can get jarring at times to the point where it is hard to keep track of the action on screen, gorgeous as it may be. I can honestly say this is a must-see not just for superhero fans, not just for Spider-Man fans, not just for animation fans, but for anyone just looking for a fun film at the cinema. Nuff Said!

I can't believe that I want to write a negative comment, but unlike the first part, which was a masterpiece, the second part performed extremely poorly. The story is boring and maybe unimportant (why unimportant? Because it is not new).

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is truly a masterpiece. It’s brilliant sequel to the original and is probably better than the first one. Everything about the film is perfect from beginning to end. The animation is truly breathtaking and beautiful, the story is amazingly well written, and the cast gives phenomenal voice-over performances. I'm not gonna say the criticisms to avoid spoiling the movie, but this is definitely a game changing movie that I honestly think improves on Into The Spider-Verse, and The Super Mario Bros Movie. The Mario movie has a confusing plot, but Across The Spider-Verse keeps the plot together so well that its groundbreaking animation styles, tonal themes, and phenomenal character development really fit in the plot very well and keep things entertaining. I was entertained the entire time in the movie theater that even the cliffhanger even gets me even more hoped for the sequel, especially since I know there's gonna be even more to the story. And I'm honestly glad there's a cliffhanger, since the movie is literally two hours and twenty minutes long and a doubled runtime will honestly make things boring, though for the fans who are into the story of Miles and Gwen would be interested to see the story's conclusion. This has to be one of the greatest and best movies I've ever seen in 2023, might see it a 2nd time in a movie theater! Expand

this movie is terrible.

It ruins every good thing to original had going for it and replaces it with absolute trash. remember how good the animation was in the first movie? nope. now it will just give you a headache. do not let anyone with epilepsy see it or they will just straight up die. the main message of the first movie was that anyone can "be spiderman" and that anyone can conquer their insecurities and be the good person they've always wanted to. What is the message of this movie? you have no free will. no choice. and your dad is going to die and you should let him. what? this movie so desperately wants to be spiderman 2. but what made spider-man 2 so good was that tobey maguire/peter parker was a likeable character. they take miles from the first film and make him a jerk. this movie is terrible, but I give it a 1/10 because the spot had one good scene. that being where he goes into the collider and miles sees all the horror he will unleash

It's barbarically inventive and delightfully entertaining. But as they say, you can never have too much of a good thing. The style is distracting, the plot succumbs to abrupt tonal shifts, the structure is brutalised by never-ending humour, and the creativity is clueless about when it has crossed the line into the silly-verse. Among the random vignettes, it's difficult to not imagine a cleaner, more edited movie. Nevertheless, this admirably isn't even close to being a catastrophe. This sequel is actually quite well done, very entertaining, and frequently moving. building indefinitely through exposition and naturally occurring narrative turns. Expand

Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse is a love letter to everything Spider-Man meant to the world during his 61 years of existence.

It’s an exciting, surprising adventure full of heart, emotions, action but also (and mostly) of human feelings and deeply developed characters that feel real and true to their comicbooks counterparts. The team at Sony Pictures continues to expand the boundaries of animation techniques and delivers something truly extraordinary: everything is incredibile to look at, the attention to detail is simply insane, and each style fits the characters perfectly. The story of Miles Morales keeps getting more interesting, with him going further down a path to really make him a great, unforgettable Spider-Man. The movie is so fun, but also really really deep. The music is simply perfect. Countless easter eggs will make every fan happy and satisfied, because it’s amazing to see how much the writers love and wanted to represent everything about Spidey and his lore. It’s definitely a must-have, probably one of the best comicbook movies ever, and one of the greatest animated movies of all time.

The biggest standout is its absolutely breathtaking yet somehow seamless blending of a wide variety of animation and filmmaking styles. So many frames of this film are truly jaw-dropping (particularly the scenes involving Gwen and The Spot, which look like they came from an art museum at points), but the film isn't just a pretty face. The wide cast of characters, both new and from the previous films, are a delight to follow, with Miles, Gwen, and Spider-Punk being the true standouts, with their respective voice actors doing a great job as well. The story and humor are equally as strong as the first film, but this film further explores what it means to be Spider-Man and how we find our place in a complex, messy world. Furthermore, Daniel Pemberton's score is absolutely phenomenal again and Metro Boomin's original music is a welcome addition as well. I truly cannot praise this film enough and everyone involved, from the writers to the animators. We need more of this in both animation and Hollywood in general, and I truly cannot wait til Beyond the Spider-Verse comes out next year. This is a must watch and, once again, transforms the entire medium of animation in a way that puts Disney to shame. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros: animation, action, hobie, miguel was a menace in every scene he was in and he at least for me was sympathetic, not a single minute was boring. Miles mom has way more prescence in this one and I liked her.
Gwen, the first 20 odd minutes are dedicated to her world. She is basically a secondary main character. she maybe has more screen time than miles.
Cons: music is too loud to understand diologue in some parts. maybe that was just the dolby atmos.
Two of the spider people endanger their children for empowerment/giggles. This just cannot be supported and needs to be called out. It's hard to be invested even in animation when I personally am seeing these things. Im not saying there needs to be consequences, but it's a major turn off.
The whole canon thing is left to be answered in the sequel. Miles gets blamed for not letting a person die because he was out of universe, yet the movie just ignores that said person was gonna die because of an action of another out of universe character, and that he wasn't the only spider person in that universe at the time.

The story of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) continues in the next instalment of the Spider-Verse saga. Miles Morales, GwenThe story of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) continues in the next instalment of the Spider-Verse saga. Brooklyn’s “one and only Spider-Man”…except for all the other Spider-People who exist across the infinite multiverse. Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) and a whole team of Spider-People need to work together to face off against a powerful villain unlike anything they have ever seen. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse gave us just a taste into the potential of the Spider-Man multiverse and now the sequel delves head first into the incredible world of the Spider-Verse.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is one of the most incredible and innovative comic book movies I have ever seen. It takes everything you’ve seen in the first movie and builds on it, elevating it to another level of groundbreaking movie making. The stakes are much higher, the characters are further developed and it’s also one of the best looking animated movies you’ll ever see. Every single frame is so carefully crafted and packed full of amazing details, you’ll be stunned watching it. Not only is this everything a great sequel should be, but it’s everything you’d want in a great superhero movie. Into the Spider-Verse blew audiences away when it first hit the scene and certainly influenced other comic book movies afterwards so the bar was pretty high for the sequel. Across the Spider-Verse has again blown fans away with another masterpiece in storytelling, action, music and visuals. It’s got universal appeal, it’s highly immersive and is paving the way for future comic book and animated movies. It’s spectacular in every aspect.

I can’t begin to describe how amazing and creative the multiple styles of animation are expertly blended together. Every world and every character is completely unique. The film makes you feel like you’re actually in a comic book while the pages are being rapidly turned during contrasting worlds and action sequences again and again with so many different styles you’re almost missing things amongst the madness. It’s dazzling and a sure way to make people want to see it again. Over 1,000 animators clearly worked tirelessly on this and it shows. Animated movies are not just for kids, most of us know this but if you need convincing then sit yourself down and watch the Spider-Verse movies. They are brilliant films, filled with heart and humour that leave you wanting more. It puts the characters at the centre of the story, they are relatable, human and flawed. Despite all the crazy things that are happening around them you will still be fully engaged and care about what happens to them. Absolutely everything is working for it to ensure you’re fully invested in this creative and gripping story that will definitely leave you wanting more.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is an ambitious and daring movie that will have comic book fans on the edge of their seats. I didn’t think it could be better than the first movie but it has once again pushed the boundaries of the multiverse to new and exciting levels. One of the easiest five stars I ever gave. Highly recommended for everyone and an absolute must see for all the Spider-Man fans.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spider-Verse 2 a very well done continuation, the strong point is the animations, the sound quality and the soundtrack which is incredible, Miles Morales faces family problems in the film like any 15 year old teenager does, but in Miles Morales the reasons of these problems are different from other teenagers but it demonstrates a feeling that we all feel when we are/were in that phase and that is charming. The story of the film is very solid, I liked the story but for some it may seem like a pure cliche. The movie didn't have an ending, it simply ended with a "to be continued", this ending serves for a sequel to the movie that comes next year, and even though it didn't have an ending I liked it haha.
I recommend it to everyone, a masterpiece.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Really great overall, though I preferred the first one. The animation was just as good as the original, as was the voice cast, script, direction and music. I loved the Spot, he was a much more effective villain than Kingpin and probably my favourite character in the film overall, managing to strike a great balance between being humorous and being threatening. I also really liked Miguel, Spider-Man India and Peter B Parker. Lots of great easter eggs and references as well.

As for weaknesses, I thought the sound mixing made dialogue quite hard to hear, and the animation, while beautiful, was a bit too frenetic to follow during fight scenes, though neither of these were a deal breaker. My biggest issue with the film is its plot, which is a substantial downgrade compared to the first. Putting aside that most of it is just set-up and exposition for the next film, resulting in pacing issues and flabbiness compared to the much tighter plot of the first film, how the film handles the "canon" concept is a complete misunderstanding of Spider-Man as a character. It was especially egregious to see Peter essentially refer to Uncle Ben as a necessary sacrifice. There is just no way Peter, or any other Spider-Man, would just stand aside and let people die. They would try and save everyone, and even if they failed, they would try again, and again, until they succeeded. Miles was the only one to act in character on that point, which is pretty eye-rolling. If your plot requires you to character assassinate most of your main cast in order for it to work, it needs a re-think, and if the whole canon aspect turns out to be nonsense in the third film (as I suspect it will), then all but one of the Spider-Men in the multiverse have been made accessories to murder. Abysmal.

Still, as I said, overall, the ride was very enjoyable, despite the plot issues. I'm looking forward to the final instalment, hopefully it will address some of the problems here.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Expand

Originally I was expecting this to be a really good movie after into the spider-verse but man it was even better than I could've ever imagined, it has everything you could want in a Spider-Man movie, heart, humour, great visuals, faithful to the comics, creative, exciting, drama. This was much much better than it's predecessor and that's saying something as that was amazing. I seriously recommend watching this movie if you haven't already and I would be lying if I hadn't had superhero fatigue from the mediocre movies we've been getting recently but man this was truly epic, and not only is this one of the best superhero movies ever but one of the best movies ever made (in my opinion). Pros: great visuals
Cons: at times that movie is slow, and at other times there's too much going on.

I liked into the spider verse more

Jeśli pierwszej części dałem 10/10, to kontynuacji musiałbym wystawić 12/10. Break the rules! Break the Canon! Break the World!

Great movie, Miles Morales is on a great adventure, trying to figure out who he is, and wants to protect his family. The visuals are stunning and will blow you away for the entire movie.

The only thing I dont like is the cliffhanger, like I just wished they just started the 2nd movie right there lmao. I was so invested in the movie and then it just ends. But the story is amazingly written and the animation is just on another level, and please pay attention to the soundtrack when watching this movie because it is just one of the best soundtracks ive heard, up there in quality with into the spider verse's soundtrack. this is a MUST watch movie, but beware that it does end just before the climax. and the 3rd movie is coming out next year Expand

One of the best, if not the best spiderman movie made. Definitely had some dialogue that was a little lengthy in the beginning, but overall great. I do anticipate however it may not be everyones top choice, but left me wanting more.

Why I say so, because in addition to innovative in all animation techniques seen until then. The storyline has a very solid argument and the conflict that is presented is very overwhelming, but enough space is given so that it is not a bomb of information without assimilating. What to say about the characters, very well worked, where each one is faced with making difficult decisions that must be faced in the most dangerous way. Nothing is typical, there are no clichés, no fan services or forced inclusion. This is an intelligent film that proves it has a lot to give to surprise the viewer not as it wants, but as it needs to!
