So there was no need to make a live version. The plot is very simple, there is a bad guy, the hero fails at first to win, then they win at the end with a battle. Pretty simple. They also took out the little dragon. Like that was one of the best parts he was the funny part of the movie. The new one is just not the same or pleasant to watch. The girl starts off perfect there is No flaw to overcome I feel like she was the same person she was from the beginning of the movie. some of the characters could have honestly been taken out of the movie and it would have not changed a thing. Also other characters I felt didn't know what they stood for. for example mulan's father encouraged her to train and be like the boys except for when she wanted to go to war. finally the whole movie was just hard to get into. which is a shame because this was one of my favorite movies growing up.It was visually pleasing that's the only reason I'm giving it a one but they could've have done so much better with this.… Expand

The other live remakes of the Disney films have at least mainly stayed true to the original story with minor changes or additions but the new Mulan is basically a different story all together. There’s virtually no humour in this version of which is a lot of what attracts the audience to the original Mulan film. They definitely shouldn’t have bothered remaking Mulan.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mulan the animation was one of my all time favorite movies and I really wanted this to be great. But this is one hot garbage of a movie. The animation celebrated and portrayed feminism and equality exceptionally well, while this movie got it completely wrong. Reducing Mulan's success to her being born with strong chi is both demeaning and cringy. In the animation, Mulan outperformed all the men in the army because her grit, hard work and determination, she earned the trust and friendship of her peers by proving herself and climbing the pole. She went from a weakling to a physically strong person through the army camp by driving herself to get better. Iconic and crucial moments in the animation such as her cutting her hair, or the emperor saying you bow to no one to Mulan.. removed without any proper replacement.

Don't get me started on the badly CGI pheonix or the shapeshifting witch. To reduce such an iconic and important movie to magical **** is disrespectful. It is embarrassing to say that this is actually worse than Matt Damon's Great Wall.… Expand
