It was quite a fun movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. The cast was great, Aaron Taylor Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry were probably the funniest characters and they did a great job. Aaron Taylor Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry are the standouts in the film where there are many high profile actors. Their back and forth banter is really fun. Critics completely shat on that one but I'm unsure why. It's certainly not the movie of the year but it's action-packed and it's fun. Better than I expected. Not a great movie, but a fun afternoon matinee that doesn't make you think. Brad Pitt has fun making fun of his pretty boy image. I needed a movie like this for a long time and I'm glad it turned out like this. The action, the killing, the humor, the elaborate characters... Everything was simply excellent. The only thing I was missing was a better ending.

This movie is kind of all style over substance but I didn't mind because it was really fun. There's a somewhat interesting mystery going on and a bunch of wacky characters in a train trying to murder each other. The action isn't quite as ferocious or refined as some of David Leitch's other work but I found it worked quite well and had enough prop usage in fights that it made me briefly think of Jacky Chan which is never a bad thing!. I didn't go in to this movie taking it to seriously and when the action stopped in the middle of a climactic battle to flash back and show you a brief history of a water bottles journey from being bought to ending up being used in the fight I knew this movie was the kind of dumb fun I enjoy. Maybe not his best work, a little looser and less precise but there's so much energy on display it makes up for it by just being fun.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sometime it is difficult to understand all the terrible reviews. This is all overall a really entertaining movie. A bit of lock stock a bit of Tarantino a bit of John Wick which is not a surprise since the director was also there. Yes the story does not flow perfectly and it feels longer than it is. Yes the final train crash scene is as unlikely as in any hollywood epic, forgetting any detail of physics and reality. Yes the scenes with the japanese toilet functions feel old stuff. But in the end it is what it is i.e. an irreverent, funny, action movie with some excellent actors and characters (absolutely loved tangerine and lemon) and enough blood to fill a swimming pool and it still does not feel bad about it. Also the hints at personal crisis or therapists is interesting. For a non-english native the english version was a bit challenging so I will watch it surely again.… Expand

Actually a very entertaining flick. A lot of bloody action mixed in with comedy relief done the right way. (take notes Waititi!) This film reminded me of the movie Snatch, which also featured Brad Pitt. If you never seen that check it out.

okay, the movie isn't perfect.

It likes to use lengthy exposition a lot in the first half of the movie and it's not the funniest movie either but I would still take it over any new marvel movie ANYDAY. The action is well choreographed andokay, the movie isn't perfect.

This movie is very absurd and somehow harder than Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) to understand the jokes. The director looks like wants to create a similar movie ambiance and absurd action. He may be successfully created Deadpool 2 (2018) but this movie quality is just so so than that. Jokes could be considered as pros but also cons.

The movie pros are a lot of huge casts even for cameo roles. Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum look like paying their debt to Brad Pitt for his cameo role in their movie, The Lost City (2022). The movie set, costumes, and music are great.

Besides that, the movie's biggest pro is an abstract plot that is well-narrated.

Firstly, the abstract scenario is when a bunch of chars is contracted to do their own job via bullet train, a very fast train which is "bullet" as a metaphor for the train speed. Then, slowly but surely every char. Are collided in the same scenario and is forced to stay on the bullet train. The great narration is the audience is easily distracted to guess how can be all chars are related to the same scenario. A bunch of jokes are provided.

But the funny things just happen for some time. Sometimes, too many jokes and it is inappropriate which distracts emotional or intense moments. This becomes movie cons. Absurd jokes maybe could be the perfect thing for our world because there are so many bizarre and chaotic moments, but plz not too much. Even though, there were very absurd jokes which is a vivid ad for a brand that is also an unimportant story.

In my POV, movie jokes maybe a lil bit similar to Deadpool 2 (2018), Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), and The Gentlemen (2019). Gentlemen's comedy and action quality are a lil bit similar to The Gentlemen (2019) which is tend to become an elegant and sophisticated fashion.

Nevertheless, this movie is fun to watch but don't expect too much. The great cast, absurd jokes, and action are refreshing. Maybe we need that to entertain and escape our minds for a lil bit from reality. As always, I didn't expect anything before watching in the cinema. Enjoy this movie or just pass it.… Expand

Both my wife and I really liked this movie - which in itself is unusual. It reminded me of a Quentin Tarantino movie light. Brad Pitt stars as an unlucky hit man who's assigned to acquire a suitcase on the titular Japanese transit. Of course, he runs into numerous obstacles in the form of others who have their own objectives. Of course, he runs into numerous obstacles in the form of others who have their own objectives. Echoes of Guy Ritchie are obvious with the off-kilter situations, funky characters and snappy violence. Pitt, working a goofy edge with a bucket hat and glasses, handles the action and the humor well, but it's Channing Tatum's cameo that generates the best laff (look for other familiar faces too). Director David Leitch (Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2) certainly knows his way around the genre and mostly nails it here. Even with a slight lag in the middle, there is sufficient witty dialogue with rowdy encounters to keep the movie barreling down the track.
Cool story about guest stars: Sandra Bullock made a deal with Pitt that if he'd do a small part in her latest The Lost City she'd return the favor for this film.… Expand

The way they use Brad Pitt is a crime. His attempted humorous one liners just made me bury my face in my hands. The obsession with Thomas the Tank engine is just weird. The humor though is the absolute worst quality of this movie. No more than three mildly funny moments in this 'comedy' if you've got your brain switched on.… Expand

It's a fun and exciting action movie that feels inspired by Tarantino's work. The characters are all super over-the-top in the best of ways and the action scenes are very well done.

Director David Leitch manages to keep things moving at a decent clip and even the screenplay at hand -- though occasionally beleaguered by many a subplot and convolution -- has a couple neat little thematic tricks up its sleeve. Brad Pitt may be a little bit miscast in this, but the man's simply impossible to dislike onscreen. Add in a disarmingly bombastic finale and you get one of the more unique cinematic experiences of the year for me. This thing had a tough hill to climb at times and I'm glad to say it more than surmounted it in the end.… Expand

Just a good movie !!! It's like being in a Tarantino film: a lot of rhythm, good references, great photography and music that fits the film well! Go see the film don't listen the critics ;)

If you’ve seen the modestly amusing trailer for director David Leitch’s latest, you’ve seen all you need to see. This overlong, ridiculously convoluted train wreck (obvious pun intended) lost my interest about 20 minutes in, and I never got it back during its 2+ hour runtime. While seemingly attempting to be a playful action comedy in the spirit of movies like “Red” (2010), “Kingsman: The Secret Service” (2014) and the “Deadpool” franchise, “Bullet Train” instead comes across as gratuitous, nasty and mean-spirited, more like the “John Wick” offerings or the works of Quentin Tarantino, pictures that desperately stretch the meaning of “funny.” This cinematic mess tries way too hard to generate laughs but falls flat at virtually every juncture, failing to stick any of its landings. And that’s a huge disappointment given the stellar cast, including leading man Brad Pitt, whose comedic talents are wasted on a script that gives him precious little to work with. The result is a tedious, feeble, exhausting, tiresome attempt at a summertime thrill ride that tells a story not worthy of caring about, filled with repulsive characters, wholly improbable events and underwhelming special effects. In fact, the only thing positive I can say about this disaster is that, fortunately, I lived to tell about it.… Expand

I legitimately really liked this film. From the very beginning this movie oozes with style. The action is fantastic, the characters are well written and interesting, and the camerawork is done very well. The pacing as well as some plot pointsI legitimately really liked this film. Bullet Train is going to become a cult classic in the future like Snatch or Kill Bill or Pulp Fiction. Brad Pitt's charisma and comedic abilities are on full display here. In Bullet Train nothing matters. There are connections between the characters, some stupid and empty motives, and supposedly professional killers who are basically a joke. Everyone wants to kill each other, but nothing makes any sense. There are characters like the ones performed by Zazie Beetz, Logan Lerman and Karen Fukuhara who don't do **** except show up for a few moments, which completely wastes them and that's not even counting the cameos by Channing Tatum, Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

As I said, since nothing really matters, there's no real use in knowing how it's all going to end, and you won't even care who lives and who dies, because yes, although it's not abundant, when the violence does appear, it's more brutal than I expected, but it's still of no use, cause the violence it ain't the climax of the show, but the punchline. This film is a mind-numbing experience. All that matters is that you go on the journey and that it entertains you enough so that you don't feel ripped off once the end comes.
And it's not that I tried to make sense of a movie that warns you from the beginning that that's not its purpose, and I get it, there are movies that are just made to be fun and goofy, it's just that that's not something that satisfies me.

I was going to give it only two stars, but it earns the extra half for what its cast does well, not what the script offered them.… Expand

Everything I needed it to be. Aaron Taylor Johnson stood out the most to me and delivered his lines brilliantly. Cameos were unexpected and great. Also added brownie points for Figi.

Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It's fun and irreverent, and some fights and action sequences are very cool, although the story is very convoluted. Still more engaging than 'The Gray Man.'
