Then a third of the way in I fell asleep I was bored so much. I find it a shame Sasha has basically boiled down to lowest common denominator left vs right politic humour. I’m just done with politics, tired of the same jokes over and ove.

Obviously it is extremely biased and, needless to say, those on the Left aren't mocked at all. Having said that, if you enjoy SNL or typical late night humor you'd probably enjoy it; plenty of "Orange Man Bad" to go around. P.S. Original Borat firm was probably my favorite comedy movies of all time. It Sucks Cohen became so political. Expand

The movie should be called "Vote Democrats", considering how politically biased it was and not even funny. The jokes felt staged compared to the first one. This woke culture is ruining entertainment in general.

Borat was a great movie. This one is not.
The rehearsed dialogs on this film cannot compete with the freshness of the first film. I am not American however I cannot understand how a comedic film was transformed in political propaganda.

However, this long-awaited sequel has its moments of inspired comedic tastelessness that make the picture something of a modest guilty pleasure, the kind of picture you watch in private, under the covers in your bedroom, lit up by the glow of your portable video device. Some of the novelty is gone now that audiences know the formula that makes the production work, and the audacity that fueled its predecessor somehow doesn't seem quite as comically appalling in an age where we have pervasive social media posts whose sentiments are even more vile than the content presented here. But, when Sacha Baron Cohen and company hit on an inventive gag that works, it really works, in some cases generating laughs even heartier than those that came out of the first film. The biggest gem here is the addition of Maria Bakalova as the protagonist's daughter, who provides some much-needed oomph to the overall tone of the film, delivering a hilarious performance deserving of all the accolades and award nominations she has received. Still, given the state of culture and society these days, it may be time to put the Borat franchise to rest; we don't need any more fuel splashed on the fire, no matter how well-intentioned it might be as biting political commentary -- we have enough of that already, and it's not very funny any more. Though far from bad, the very clear lack of forward planning and unbalanced critique of American culture really make Borat 2 feel like a much poorer film in execution.
What made the original film so great is that it made fun of everybody, yet Borat 2 simply points the finger at conservative America: a very common move that I'd have expected in a much lesser film, and which as a result makes a lot of the film's comedy feel quite predictable.
I enjoyed the original on the basis of it being a critique of US culture in general. Borat 2 isn't a critique of US culture, it is rather a critique of conservative American culture, and thus it comes across much more predictable since nearly every comedian currently alive has had a go at conservative America.

It worksBorat 2 does not have the shock or laugh value that the original Borat had in 2006. Borat (and by extension Sacha Baron Cohen) works when it is able to put people in uncompromising situations ultimately revealing who they truly are. It works on the belief that there can't possibly be people that racist, that misogynist or that ignorant in the US. The first film released when there was no social media, and when Youtube was barely getting started. It was shocking and hard to believe that the people showcased actually existed, they were more like a myth - hence some really funny moments that required virtually no effort.

The sequel however feels forced. In the social media age, where we are constantly bombarded with short videos of 'Karens', Jordan Klepper interviews and the at times unbelievable and ridiculous White House show, Borat 2 loses it's shock value. The ultimate endgame for Borat 2 is the much publicised Giuliani scene, but it is neither funny nor shocking, rather it was completely expected. The same goes for the political rally where Borat starts a sing along. We've seen scenes like this everyday for nearly 5 years - the people filmed aren't acting 'out of the ordinary' anymore. The gaps in between are filled with cringy attempts to force laughs. At no point does the film organically make you laugh.

Save yourself some time, just watch the trailers, you'll see everything that the movie has to offer - and more as there's a bonus scene in the trailer that got cut from the final film.

Not only it was not funny, i had to basically skip lots of stuff cause it was just trashy bad. Side kick actress who cant act at all , ruins the movie even more. And ofcourse Giuliani scene that was talked as “outrageous stuff you have to see”. If it was year 2000 , they wouldve let the scene go until he pulled his D out at least. This movie doesnt qualify even for random netflix garbage movie/series.

This film relies on the fact of shock value. and i mean not in a good way! There are parts of the film i enjoyed, but the majority really felt similar to his previous show, Who is America. As it comes obvious that in this film Borat has a daughter, this is a solution to the problem that he is more likely to be recognised by the public. and although the actress(sorry don't know the her name) tries her best to carry the torch it really feels more uncomfortable rather than funny in most encounters. i don't really see this film as a follow up to the original at all. a lot of the moments in the film feel heavily scripted. and there's quite a lot of politics involved in the movie as well. and for many that's not your cuppa tea. around the half way mark is where the movie really dips due to covid 19 issues, so it becomes quite boring. it uses your typical cliche to wrap things up. and makes fun sensitive subjects that are in the current media to cause an outburst. i really have no problem with sacha's sense of humour it's the reason we love the classics. but it really feels poorly excuted this time round. i mean if you've got nothing to do. watch it! make your own mind up. best way i can describe it as, is a quick cash grab. Borat 2 is a great follow up to one of my favorite comedies of all time. Obviously, Sachs Baron Cohen is hilarious as Borat but I was surprised at how great of a job newcomer Maria Bakalova did as Borat’s daughter. She is essentially the heart and soul of the film and did an excellent job playing off of Borat. The film’s writing is once again excellent at showing off Cohen’s comedic talents and showing the state of the United States in 2020. The film’s story is excellent and I was incredibly impressed at how they incorporated the Covid-19 pandemic into the film. Quarantine started during the making of this film and they quickly rewrote the script and incredibly and expertly wove the pandemic into the story. It was seamless and felt like something they had planned from day 1. Something great that Borat 2 does is show the current state of the United States. They are a lot of jabs at the Trump administration which could/will turn some people off from the film but it’s hilarious and thought provoking none the less. There is a moment towards the end of the film with a certain politician that’s horrible. Not that the film is horrible but what he does is horrible. Since this is a sequel to Borat, it has to be funny and it was definitely funny. I found myself laughing at a lot of moments in the film although I prefer the first film’s jokes over this one. I really didn’t have a lot of issues other than the occasional slow bit here and there. Go check this out when you can but if you consider yourself right leaning, you might not get as much enjoyment out of it as others would. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Hello from Russia! I love Cohen's work. Such a comedian is the only one in the whole world. To make fun of people who think that the grotesque country I have invented really exists. Where gay men wear blue berets, women sit in cages, everyone drinks horse urine and the age of consent is nine. You must be able to do this! Cohen shows that behind a fake smile and "education" behind this entire screen, there are the same uneducated people living in stereotypes, which makes them no better than those people who live in this "grotesque country of Kazakhstan". This film really gives people the thought that they need to change. Works like this film are rare. A fan of Marvel films will not understand the depth of this film. WARNING SPOILER! I especially liked how Kazakhstan sent Borat to the Gulag and with his help is trying to take revenge on the world. This is really funny. Reflects how Kazakhs react to this film.
PS: I hope Cohen will come back to us more than once in a similar manner and bring us many more films. It is worth saying that during the filming of the first and second parts, Cohen was exposed to the fact that he could be shot. Indeed, a person is ready for a lot for the sake of art! Thank you Sasha Cohen, we love you in Russia!

It ruins what makes the first movie so great by pumping it full of political garbage. It is essentially an hour and a half of propaganda telling you to vote democrat. The first movie was so good because of the stupid things that borat did along with the genuine reactions from people borat interacts with. This movie takes both of those things away and instead turns borat into an sjw by the end of the movie telling the audience to vote a specific way in the election. That is this movies entire purpose. Nobody will watch this over the first movie and it will lose its purpose in a few months. On top of this, it appears that there are numerous scenes that are heavily scripted to continue the story. This is something the first movie had no problem with and it also takes away what everyone was wanting to see more of. The scenes that are supposed to make you go "wow i cant believe he said/did that" come off very underwhelming. This also ruins the character of borat. He was always the person you laughed at in the first movie. You were never supposed to agree with borat but the sequel tries to turn him into someone to look up to. This could have worked if it was its own movie but the retards writing the movie forgot it was a sequel. The idea of a sequel to borat in 2020 had so much potential but it ends up being a useless pile of garbage that goes against everything that made the first movie one of my favorites. **** Borat 2. As he’d already done in the first mockumentary 2006, his character Borat challenges the social issues with America by allowing a certain handful of its citizens to expose themselves. He’s at it once again with this sequel and it’s couldn’t have came at a better time. He addresses the issues of Covid-19 and Trump supporters’ conspiracy theories surrounding it. He even personally targets Vice President Mike Pence and former Mayor (now personal attorney to Trump) Rudy Giuliani and the results are quite revealing. This week Prime Video released Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. This is the sequel to Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Honestly, I got tricked and hassled by Trip Fontaine into watching this film. I am not a big fan of Sacha Baron Cohen, but I can suffer through it to review for our viewers. Let’s see how crazy this gets.

Needless to say, Borat is completely crazy and it follows that his daughter is just as insane. This film is full of satirical, political commentary and, sadly, also just the reality of parts of America. The jokes are crisp and clever. It is sad that people actually fell for this while being recorded – again. I feel like some of these bits are entirely scripted, but I know that much of it is too close to real. Sasha Baron Cohen and Maria Bakalova really do capture the political insanity that has consumed America throughout 2020. For me, some of this is just a bit too much but what is satire without great exaggeration? It’s bad comedy. Here, we have comedy that ultimately works and highlights the culture in which we live. The only thing I want to highlight is thank goodness for the Jeanise Jones’s of the world. She’s my favorite part of this movie. I must also shoutout the idiots trying to explain to Borat what a conspiracy theory is in this movie. This scene became way too close to showing the depressing division in this current political climate we are stuck in. Honestly, we have to thank Sacha for putting idiot ideology on front street. I’m looking at you Rudy Guiliani.

Long story short, I suffered through this comedy but I’ll admit I did laugh some. Borat does Borat things. If you enjoyed it before, then you’ll enjoy this too. There isn’t a rush to watch this but any undecided voters should definitely grab a bowl of popcorn and watch this before election day.

We have a much more profund and structured fictional narration, where we see not only a main goal (like Pamela Anderson in the first movie), but also a really good characterization of both Borat and Turar.
There's a deep understanding of simple quest writing, expanding on the simple "stages" narration that the first Borat had. It has a valid focused narration, centripetal, that helps the story to develope more on Borat character himself and separate documentary section to fiction sections.
There's a bigger variety regarding documentary scenes and sketches, wich are not only indipendent from themselves, but they help developing the main storyline. The documentary part and the fiction are simbiotic to themselves.

What's new is that it is not vague as the first one, since weird social and political events are becoming more and more prevalent in today's world. It is not a study anymore, Borat is living in a whole global crisis and everything can be said and shown without looking for too much strange situations. It is a fresher take on the original Borat, taking the same formula, expanding more on secondary characters, a bit less in cheaper and gross comedy, a bit more in spicy-edgy political humor. This doesn't mean that there are no funny and demential scenes, but even those revolve around a main plot which is always good.

Though the shocking and cringy interviews that you watch in awe, in the original is slightly less common in this one.
Still very good.

Borat is back at it again.

This movie is another Sashcha Baron Cohen classic. He plays the ignorant borat to get out the unpolite sides of people they dont usually show. I think this movie is a good movie with alot of good laughs but i feel like some bits get a bit stetched out sometimes and therefore can sometimes get on the brink of losing my attention. I also feel this movie is a bit to scripted at some points of the movie, and I get a kind of deja vu of "The dictator". Nevertheless this movie is a really good movie that does what it is made for. This movie is made to offend people and it most certanly does from the looks of it so far. It makes fun of both the American people, but also the politics right now, and people are getting offended because the movie dosent show their political party in the light they want it to be shown.

I would highly reccomend this movie to anyone that dosent take themselves to seriously, politically or personally, as most people right now, and for people who can see this movie for what it is... a movie made to challenge what is normal and offend people.

ThisSacha Baron Cohen’s hilarious Kazakh TV host made his first visit to the US 14 years ago. This sequel brings him back with his daughter for more satirical wackiness, which sometimes involves him assuming even more absurd disguises. This outing tries to be as outrageous or shocking as the original and even though it sometime succeeds, it’s seldom as funny. Also, many of the scenarios are so obviously staged that the deadpan reactions of his victims lose their astonishment. The attempts at family warmth just aren’t necessary. I don’t know if we’re more jaded now or if the impact is less effective, but even without as many laffs, there’s still plenty of offensive and extreme fun to be had. Expand

Sacha Baron Cohan's follow-up improves over the original with a more story-based approach that still upends the '-isms" in America (racism, sexism, etc.) in the midst of a freaking pandemic. It couldn't be more well-timed in this brutal election season.

The standout is Borat's 15 year old daughter played by Maria Bakalova (she's actually 24) who steals the show with her cluelessness and likeability. How well you enjoy this movie will depend on your own level of political ideology and tolerance to very crude and crass behavior. Personally, I found it hilarious. But it is definitely not for everybody.

There were several moments that made me laugh out loud. There were also moments that made me cringe (sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way). Overall, I think it's a better and funnier movie than the first one, but that might depend on your political views. If you think the racists are actually the good guys, you probably won't like this movie too much. This is a politically incorrect movie. It rightfully criticizes conservative Americans and it doesn't care if it hurts their feelings. But what's really interesting about this movie is how relevant it is to Americans. It deals with current events such as the Coronavirus and the election. Some high-profile politicians also appear in the movie. And I'm fairly sure this movie was intentionally released shortly before the election.

What I don't understand is why the conservative snowflakes are so triggered by this movie. They say it's political. Perhaps they forgot that in the first movie, Borat literally takes a **** in front of Trump's hotel. Borat has always been political. Pretty much every movie is political, some more than others. Grow a thick skin and stop spamming 0/10 ratings just because this movie offended you. It's pathetic.

Fourteen years later, the country's Premier releases him, with a mission to deliver Kazakh Minister of Culture Johnny the Monkey to President Donald Trump in an attempt to redeem the nation.

I personally enjoyed the first Borat movie, but this sequel never really seems to know what it wants to be. Occasionally it takes aim at the current state of the US Government and those that still support it, but it never really shows us anything we didn’t already know and it doesn’t have anything particularly insightful to say. In fact, for the most part it seems content just to make jokes about antisemitism and the treatment of women in Kazakhstan, neither of which seem to actually be based in reality. The controversy around the scene featuring Rudy Giuliani certainly seems to have garnered attention but overall it all just feels a bit lazy. In the end it is only really Maria Bakalova, as Borat’s daughter, that saves the movie with her energetic performance and willingness to put herself in situations many people simply wouldn’t have the nerve for.

Sure,I struggled through Borat Subsequent Moviefilm not because it is as wild and ridiculous as the first part but because there's just too much that Sacha Baron Cohen stuffs into it, which made my viewing experience slightly unpleasant. Sure, there are LOL moments and absurd dialogues that make the film what it is, but after a while, the jokes aren't funny (not in a bad way, though). The critique on the Trump administration is spot-on, so maybe this is more targeted towards Americans. What worked with the first movie was that Borat played the role of a man completely disconnected from American norms. He was unconsciously sexist, racist, and overall bigoted. It made for funny moments when he would pretend to unknowingly make fun of someone or act in a way one wouldn’t in this country. Also, the reactions to his character were real, and you could tell.

The sequel just doesn’t live up to the original, I’m afraid. It is extremely liberal and the character of Borat is pretty much entirely different from the original. Instead of being a lovable jackass, he’s a super-conscious talking head, which just doesn’t make for a fun comedy. Aside from that, a lot of this movie just felt scripted, as if all the reactions were written into the movie, not naturally delivered from unsuspecting citizens.

To top off the mediocrity, Borat tells the viewer to go and vote, which just felt like a spit in the face to the viewers’ intelligence.

In my honest opinion, the funniest media is politically neutral. That way, there isn’t a bias towards a certain party, and they are able to look at both sides equally and find flaws in both they parties can make jokes out of. Also, being unself-aware of one’s own bias makes the comedian look dumb and makes his work less effective.

There were spots in the movie where some of the magic of the original shined (the KKK costume at the CPAC comes to mind), but for the most part, it was just another propagandist comedy that can be tossed into the bunch of socially-conscious garbage Hollywood loves to churn out.

(PS, the score on this review wouldn’t have changed if this movie were making fun of the left instead of the right. The fact that this movie took a certain side isn’t what ruins it, it’s that it took a side at all.)
