Borat 2 is a great follow up to one of my favorite comedies of all time. Obviously, Sachs Baron Cohen is hilarious as Borat but I was surprised at how great of a job newcomer Maria Bakalova did as Borat’s daughter. She is essentially the heart and soul of the film and did an excellent job playing off of Borat. The film’s writing is once again excellent at showing off Cohen’s comedic talents and showing the state of the United States in 2020. The film’s story is excellent and I was incredibly impressed at how they incorporated the Covid-19 pandemic into the film. Quarantine started during the making of this film and they quickly rewrote the script and incredibly and expertly wove the pandemic into the story. It was seamless and felt like something they had planned from day 1. Something great that Borat 2 does is show the current state of the United States. They are a lot of jabs at the Trump administration which could/will turn some people off from the film but it’s hilarious and thought provoking none the less. There is a moment towards the end of the film with a certain politician that’s horrible. Not that the film is horrible but what he does is horrible. Since this is a sequel to Borat, it has to be funny and it was definitely funny. I found myself laughing at a lot of moments in the film although I prefer the first film’s jokes over this one. I really didn’t have a lot of issues other than the occasional slow bit here and there. Go check this out when you can but if you consider yourself right leaning, you might not get as much enjoyment out of it as others would. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Hello from Russia! I love Cohen's work. Such a comedian is the only one in the whole world. To make fun of people who think that the grotesque country I have invented really exists. Where gay men wear blue berets, women sit in cages, everyone drinks horse urine and the age of consent is nine. You must be able to do this! Cohen shows that behind a fake smile and "education" behind this entire screen, there are the same uneducated people living in stereotypes, which makes them no better than those people who live in this "grotesque country of Kazakhstan". This film really gives people the thought that they need to change. Works like this film are rare. A fan of Marvel films will not understand the depth of this film. WARNING SPOILER! I especially liked how Kazakhstan sent Borat to the Gulag and with his help is trying to take revenge on the world. This is really funny. Reflects how Kazakhs react to this film.
PS: I hope Cohen will come back to us more than once in a similar manner and bring us many more films. It is worth saying that during the filming of the first and second parts, Cohen was exposed to the fact that he could be shot. Indeed, a person is ready for a lot for the sake of art! Thank you Sasha Cohen, we love you in Russia!

As he’d already done in the first mockumentary 2006, his character Borat challenges the social issues with America by allowing a certain handful of its citizens to expose themselves. He’s at it once again with this sequel and it’s couldn’t have came at a better time. He addresses the issues of Covid-19 and Trump supporters’ conspiracy theories surrounding it. He even personally targets Vice President Mike Pence and former Mayor (now personal attorney to Trump) Rudy Giuliani and the results are quite revealing. I prefer the first Borat film but there’s still plenty of hilarious moments throughout this one and it’s hard not to applaud the chutzpah of Cohen. Expand

This week Prime Video released Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. This is the sequel to Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Honestly, I got tricked and hassled by Trip Fontaine into watching this film. I am not a big fan of Sacha Baron Cohen, but I can suffer through it to review for our viewers. Let’s see how crazy this gets.

Needless to say, Borat is completely crazy and it follows that his daughter is just as insane. This film is full of satirical, political commentary and, sadly, also just the reality of parts of America. The jokes are crisp and clever. It is sad that people actually fell for this while being recorded – again. I feel like some of these bits are entirely scripted, but I know that much of it is too close to real. Sasha Baron Cohen and Maria Bakalova really do capture the political insanity that has consumed America throughout 2020. For me, some of this is just a bit too much but what is satire without great exaggeration? It’s bad comedy. Here, we have comedy that ultimately works and highlights the culture in which we live. The only thing I want to highlight is thank goodness for the Jeanise Jones’s of the world. She’s my favorite part of this movie. I must also shoutout the idiots trying to explain to Borat what a conspiracy theory is in this movie. This scene became way too close to showing the depressing division in this current political climate we are stuck in. Honestly, we have to thank Sacha for putting idiot ideology on front street. I’m looking at you Rudy Guiliani.

Long story short, I suffered through this comedy but I’ll admit I did laugh some. Borat does Borat things. If you enjoyed it before, then you’ll enjoy this too. There isn’t a rush to watch this but any undecided voters should definitely grab a bowl of popcorn and watch this before election day.

We have a much more profund and structured fictional narration, where we see not only a main goal (like Pamela Anderson in the first movie), but also a really good characterization of both Borat and Turar.
There's a deep understanding of simple quest writing, expanding on the simple "stages" narration that the first Borat had. It has a valid focused narration, centripetal, that helps the story to develope more on Borat character himself and separate documentary section to fiction sections.
There's a bigger variety regarding documentary scenes and sketches, wich are not only indipendent from themselves, but they help developing the main storyline. The documentary part and the fiction are simbiotic to themselves.

What's new is that it is not vague as the first one, since weird social and political events are becoming more and more prevalent in today's world. It is not a study anymore, Borat is living in a whole global crisis and everything can be said and shown without looking for too much strange situations. It is a fresher take on the original Borat, taking the same formula, expanding more on secondary characters, a bit less in cheaper and gross comedy, a bit more in spicy-edgy political humor. This doesn't mean that there are no funny and demential scenes, but even those revolve around a main plot which is always good.

Borat is back at it again.

This movie is another Sashcha Baron Cohen classic. He plays the ignorant borat to get out the unpolite sides of people they dont usually show. I think this movie is a good movie with alot of good laughs but i feel like some bits get a bit stetched out sometimes and therefore can sometimes get on the brink of losing my attention. I also feel this movie is a bit to scripted at some points of the movie, and I get a kind of deja vu of "The dictator". Nevertheless this movie is a really good movie that does what it is made for. This movie is made to offend people and it most certanly does from the looks of it so far. It makes fun of both the American people, but also the politics right now, and people are getting offended because the movie dosent show their political party in the light they want it to be shown.

I would highly reccomend this movie to anyone that dosent take themselves to seriously, politically or personally, as most people right now, and for people who can see this movie for what it is... a movie made to challenge what is normal and offend people.

Sacha Baron Cohan's follow-up improves over the original with a more story-based approach that still upends the '-isms" in America (racism, sexism, etc.) in the midst of a freaking pandemic. It couldn't be more well-timed in this brutal election season.

The standout is Borat's 15 year old daughter played by Maria Bakalova (she's actually 24) who steals the show with her cluelessness and likeability. How well you enjoy this movie will depend on your own level of political ideology and tolerance to very crude and crass behavior. Personally, I found it hilarious. There were several moments that made me laugh out loud. There were also moments that made me cringe (sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way). Overall, I think it's a better and funnier movie than the first one, but that might depend on your political views. If you think the racists are actually the good guys, you probably won't like this movie too much. This is a politically incorrect movie. It rightfully criticizes conservative Americans and it doesn't care if it hurts their feelings. But what's really interesting about this movie is how relevant it is to Americans. It deals with current events such as the Coronavirus and the election. Some high-profile politicians also appear in the movie. And I'm fairly sure this movie was intentionally released shortly before the election.

What I don't understand is why the conservative snowflakes are so triggered by this movie. They say it's political. Perhaps they forgot that in the first movie, Borat literally takes a **** in front of Trump's hotel. Borat has always been political. Pretty much every movie is political, some more than others. Grow a thick skin and stop spamming 0/10 ratings just because this movie offended you. It's pathetic.

a rare comedy sequel that is on-par with its predecessor. Though the jokes land less consistently in Borat 2 than in the original, the more cohesive story makes the film feel far more appropriate as a movie than the first movie.

Anyone reviewing it with bad reviews, you may notice all disagree with him politically. Ignore those reviews, because they're not film reviews, but mere political opinion. I am reviewing this as a film. Editing, sound, script, acting etc... Of course it's going to be political. Just say 'it's not my bag' if that's the reason you don't like it. Otherwise if you're going to give it a poor review, do it on it's merits of FILMMAKING. This is a film review site, not a political review site. Expand

The Well Known Kazakh Reporter, Borat Sagdiyev, is finally back after fourteen years hiding behind the curtains of shame and it is safe to say that his Subsequent Movie Film: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan is about as funny as the first which is very nice! There’s no doubt that the Kazakh government would execute Borat after documenting his newest adventures in today’s pandemic/socially charged America. This subsequent film is nowhere closer as having Azamat's fat hairy balls sitting on Borat’s face naked while fighting over Pamela Anderson master-laughter level, but it is definitely worth your time seeing Borat go naughty-naughty to those that he crosses paths with in Trump/Pennis’ America with his 15 year old Daughter exposing what's real or not – great success! Wayyyy too many people crying because their political feelings got hurt, this movie is very similar to the first with a political spin on it, ignore all the 1's and 0's and just go see it, if you liked the first you'll like this one.

Excellent. Humorous, self-aware, and also political. It is of course goofy and over the top, but manages to make a statement while still being quite funny

This movie is fantastic. Too bad some people don't understand how manipulated they are. (But at least in this movie we can laugh a lot about it)

I made an account just to review this film - after having watched the original in total over thirty times over the years. In fairness, it's not as original as the first and some jokes feel somewhat recycled. But by God look at how triggeredI made an account just to review this film - after having watched the original in total over thirty times over the years. In fairness, it's not as original as the first and some jokes feel somewhat recycled. But by God look at how triggered some people on the political spectrum are about this film, but listen here; in Borat 1 people were ridiculed in the same way as people are ridiculed in this film. They are ridiculed primarily for their MORAL views (right to self determination/abortion, feminism etc). Look at how many people conflate moral views with political views in this comment section, almost everybody. Thereby people think the movie is mocking a specific political colour as opposed to poking fun at poor morals. If these people would rewatch Borat 1 with their current mindset they'd critique it for the same thing as they are critiquing the current movie - 'political propaganda'. Borat hasn't become more political, rather, western (particularly American) culture has!

In sum : This movie, just like Borat 1, is poking fun at poorly developed morality (anti-feminism, rejecting abortion). Just because the current political culture conflates and links morality with political colours does not make this a political film. This is EXACTLY a current societal development that this movie is trying to highlight you absolute snowflakes.

People who think this film is political propaganda have been wooshed by fricking Borat. Brains the size of squirrels, no doubt.

Hilarious movie that makes a lot of good points about modern society in the process. Cohen has matured the concept perfectly while still pushing boundaries. I haven't laughed this much in a while!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 1st one was a masterpiece this was not even close, The core laughter that was 1st one with fresh situations and jokes felt missing in this although some jokes were good but the overall movie was decent, The story and the journey of borat felt complete towards the end, the tutars addition was good her expressions and the acting of all were damn brilliant, the starting intro to borat after 14 years were he publish the movie "that was really 1st movie" which demeans the nation and he was responsible and everyones reaction to him was hilarious then borats duty to changed the view about nation and the going back to america to deliver gift than for a surprise borat's daughter tutar's entry in gift pack in place of monkey her whole journey with borat, the whole antifeminsit thing by borat about tutar the cage thing and book stuff and the disney fairytale adult version it was darkly funny and then the transformation of her, the mobile store p*rn scene and fax scene was hilarious and the cake scene and doctor meet was brilliantly funny and then the breast surgery thing while tutar getting to know the real world it was great although the way her speech and bathroom thing was it was literally "WTF" then the final act of c19 spread and borat stuck with 2 guys hating obama the whole house sequence was fine and then concert and song it was hilarious and the tutar being journalist her interview at last giving her father what he wish and borat's change of mind it was good and the ending with back to kazak the whole c19 twist it was surprising and the ending with kazak being feminist and both tutar and borat reporting the game it was a nice end. Overall it was decent movie but not even near to 1st. Expand

Watch who the film is critiquing and then read the butthurt reviews by people who love using the word "snowflake", and you'll see that the movie did basically exactly what it intended to.
