Just not my thing. Don't like this story, this characters, this serious tone. At least the villain isn't bad as Killmonger...whatever.

Painfully overrated and needlessly long. The cast tries but the dialogue here is clumsily written and poorly put together. Also, Why was this movie so dark!? You couldn't make anything out in the majority of the night scenes.

I'll be honest, I wasn't a fan of Black Panther even when the comic was first made into a movie. But this sequel is really bad.

The female bias in the film is troubling, as the "man" is portrayed as either a weak complement or a figure of fun, otherwise just a testosterone-driven being with very little intelligence.

The obsessive adoption of other MCU elements is also laughable. They compulsively try to implement an "Iron Woman" and ... oh what am I talking about this for so long.

In short: Technically perfectly implemented and as always with clear 3D technology. But the storyline, copying of other MCU elements and this "black style" lead in the end to the fact that you can no longer take the film seriously.

Entertaining entertainment that does not inspire to be watched again.

For me it's a huge shame as I felt the magic of the first film has been sacrificed for a 'production by committee ' rather than the realisation of a singular focused creative vision.on top of this the editing, direction and writing are very poor it's as if Hollywood has forgotten the basics of how to tell a story in this medium. On top of that, filmography is inferior to other Marvel movies, where they oddly choose to include so many low light scenes where it’s barely visible what is happening in the shot. These seems to be a common trend around bad content, like we saw with season 8 of Game of Thrones.

The young college girl is instantly better than any scientist in the Avengers, making an ironman suit faster than Tony Stark, building Vibranium detection machines that none of the avengers or Wakanda could build. I get that the movie wanted to make her seem valuable but this seems unrealistic even in this unrealistic world of super heroes.

Two of the characters are also given super suits that give super hero powers yet these suits dont change much in terms of how they fight. Yes, they fly now, but they still struggle to do one on one battles with low-level baddies. To top it all, the suits look like awkward Gundam mechs. The sound track is good and so is the acting.

The movie is also guilty of some cringy woke jokes, which seems to be an unfortunate trend in Hollywood’s guilty attempt to blame society for Hollywood’s recent past racist and sexist actions. For example, the Princess greeting Martin Short’s character as ‘There’s my favorite colonizer’. Yes, so blame a random white guy in 2022 of ‘colonizing’ which happened 100’s of years ago, good joke. I’m sure had another movie reversed the joke and a white guy said to a black girl ‘There’s my favorite slave’, people would be crying and protesting on the streets. Both Mayans and Africans practiced slavery long before white people but would Marvel in their desperate attempt to virtue signal ever bring that up? Definitely not. I think I would have liked this more if the movie didnt turn into the last 30 marvel movies, giving into every marvel troupe imaginable. Marvel is in desperate need of an overarching purpose, like with the Thanos arc. If I watch the same good movie being remade 30 times, it’s not interesting. I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I was entertained by Captain Marvel more than this.

You know my issue with this is I appreciate that they are trying to portray us (black people) in a positive manner. But it really says a lot when you have to basically turn black people into aliens to portry us in a positive manner.

For example, and the whole premise of the girl at that college. Did we really need a black female Tony Stark? Just let the character be dead and remain unique. Don't insult the audience by replacing an iconic hero with a bad actor who is portraying a terribly written character.

I mean could we have not just gotten someone who earned their place based on merit? Why not an adult African American female, who has military experience, who has combat experience, and has a doctorate level education. And has simply just never gotten her chance to shine?

But of course we go with annoying teenage girl who just happens to be a genius for no reason. And also just happens to have access to unlimited resources for no reason. Oh this is just my warehouse full of tech.

Gosh that was so cringe.

Marvel have gone full Jar Jar Binks and destroyed their franchise!

There is a female Zika virus victim as some kind of terrible Iron Man replacement! Puke!!!!
Embarrassing and disgusting!
End this now!

Eugh, it gets worse!
There is some kind of Aquaman substitute with baby pigeon wings sticking out of his ankles that somehow is supposed to make him Superman-like????? WTF???!!!???

Just awful!

Please delete this film from existence!!!!!

Really..... for real..... for actual real.... delete it from existence!!

Marvel are at serious risk of destroying the whole Iron Man and Avengers legacy with this.

The only way to fix the damage done to the success of the original Black Panther film would be to make a new "Black Panther 2" film, with a new actor cast as T'Challa - much like the Harry Potter films did with the Dumbledore character, or EVERY new James Bond actor!!!!

Then they could confine this sickening debauchery of cinema to the refuse bin - where it definitely belongs - and could even put it down to a mishap in a different universe, thanks to the multiverse concept.

I don't see any other way out of this mess.

An absolutely despicable thing to have made!

Risparmiate i soldi, questo letamaio non è che uno spreco del vostro tempo.
L'apice dello schifo politicamente corretto è stato raggiunto ancora dopo The Woman King.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is very disrespectful to Boseman as he is portrayed as an inferior to Killmonger.
WTH dude, the mans final role ever and this is how Disney sends him off?

A certain character's demise is very stupid and seems to be added to evoke a reaction from the audience. Controversies aside, most of the acting here is also very sub-par. Queen Ramonda is played well by Basset, but everyone else falls short. Somehow it feels like a bad Marvel TV show that's been compressed into a movie. It's basically She-hulk but a movie. (Of course Loki is amazing and I wouldn't besmirch that, there still are a few gems among the Marvel slogfest shows)

Might just be me, but I'm feeling burnt out on Marvel. Every movie just feels like an Ad for the next thing. Ironheart in this movie only exists as an Ad for her Disney+ show, there's already a tech genius in the movie, why would you need another one...

Except Shang-Chi and No way home, everything has been painfully mediocre in Phase 4.
Hopefully Kang somehow saves this mess in the next Antman, fingers crossed.

It's entire press cycle has felt demure from the scattered soundtrack or the phoned in Rihanna lead singles giving the feeling that this film suffered greatly in quality following Chadwick Boseman's unforseen death. I will say I was part of the crowd that favored a recast and unfortunately this movie proved us right. The story though not bad(per sé) feels loose and circular. I do think they approached the eventual arms race that would begin once American became privy to Wakanda's advantage and I think it would make even more compelling stories ahead. I did find Shuri's character a bit lackluster this time around but I loved Okoye . Nakia's revelation was shocking and rightfully set up the reintroduction of T'challa. The decision to focus on grief, loss and turmoil was a risky but otherwise fine choice. I wasn't really captivated throughout but I was never really bored. I do think it was actually paced pretty well. Expand

This movie was made to exploit African culture, while also making it seem it's about black empowerment or black culture when it is not about any of that.

First they couldn't have explained T'Challa death in a worst way. Do the writers think people suffer from memory loss?! So they were able to freeze the Winter Soldier, but given T'Challa situation no one even thought about that. If you're smart and you think about everything all the movies have shown you, then you'll never accept the explanation given to T'Challa death. Which only shows how much the writers really care about Chadwick Boseman, that they couldn't have given him a death worthy of the man he was in life but also who the character Black Panther is.

The story of the movie itself is as simple as it can get. Riri Williams, builds something that does something and Namor or should I call him Ne-mour sees that thing as a threat to his kingdom and power. Ne-mour thinks his and Wakanda interests align until he sees that they do not.

And that's it, all the conflict and fights begin here.

Shuri or should I say Letitia Wright, not only fails to transmit the emotions typical with grieving and loss, but how she becomes the new Black Panther was pure plot convenience. Also considering how she achieves it, you're also left wondering how did T'Challa even died at all. Even her fight with wannabe Namor, it leaves you wonder if she added some Wolverine DNA to what she did. As Black Panther she doesn't convinces, and she didn't took her role as seriously as she should have.

The character Riri Williams that pretty much sets the fuse to the entire conflict, if she had only done that and offered Shuri some help becoming Black Panther, that would've been enough. More than enough. But no. They had to go Rey Palpatine on her, and the way she becomes Ironheart is an insult to Tony Stark Iron Man. The way she builds the suit the way she just uses it... It screams Mary Sue.

As for Wakanda itself. They went so over the top to create the illusion that the movie cares about African culture, that they overused it to the point it became ridiculous. There are many choices to pick from, but pay attention to how the holographic barrier that keeps Wakanda hidden is lowered. You'll see the culture abuse right there, because you're witnessing a technological process that doesn't need to have all that spectacle. The spectacle is in the movie to deceive the viewer too hypnotized to realize the absurdity being shown.

Also the way they handle Riri Williams at first, for a society that is supposed to be so advanced, so open minded, about equality, and so much better than all other cultures. They sure handle that with the finesse of a barbarian.

This movie will fool you if you're not paying attention. It will pretend to be about equality when they show they couldn't care less about that. It will pretend that the fight is about some grand motive, when it comes down to who has access to a specific resource. That resource can almost be considered the movie main character. It will pretend that this movie is about black culture, black empowerment, but it just ends up showing that regardless of skin color cultures share the same flaws and fight the same fights.

A few performances were solid, like that of Angela Bassett. But other performances were just laughable, like that of Tenoch Huerta that can't even say Namor as Namor is actually said.

Overall this is an average movie. With a completely predictable story and with so many plot holes that you can see how much care and hard work was actually put into creating this movie. They knew that by using Chadwick Boseman passing, and by filling the screen with what passes for African culture, they didn't need to actually write a good story.

And while some may allowed themselves to fall for this illusionist trick, I for one was never tricked one single time. Average movie at best and I'm being generous, considering some flaws even in the special effects department can easily justify and even lower score.

While battles were mostly done well, story itself was below average, with a lot of really stupid "twists", that happen because story says so, not because they make sense. Etc.
Not the worst MCU movies ive seen, but hardly best either. Falls into same category as Love and Thunder and Multiverse of Madness, with mishmash of everything without any coherent point or reason or direction.
Its watchable, that is best i can give it. If you have nothing better to watch and have evening to fill, its a decent pick.

I think this is my least favorite Marvel film on first viewing. I've warmed up to the first Dr. Strange, the first Marvel film I didn't really like, but I'm not sure what to look for in this one to help the entertainment or enjoyment factor. I enjoyed watching this less than "Thor Dark World." The motivation driving the plot forward for every character is really weak, except for the Queen. That angle was really good and I liked that she didn't pull any punches. There are so many pointless ancillary characters. Remember Martin Freeman's CIA character from the last movie? Well yay because he'll be on screen not really doing much of anything with any of the main cast and just slightly nudging the plot forward...maybe. There's a lot of that. There's a lot of dealing with loss, real loss, but without the care that felt like went into crafting how it was handled in the last Marvel film. There isn't any of the dealing with loss with humor that is fairly standard in the MCU and that was too much for me. I need that release. I didn't expect it to be fun, but the lead played by Latitia Wright just didn't carry the movie. Angela Basset was amazing and so was Lupita Nyong'o. Danai Gurira also ruled, but so much of her redemption arch is just brush under the rug. I don't think Namor was a good villain here which is too bad. He is an interesting character and it's great that he's in the MCU. In the end it just felt so very cliche to me. If you enjoyed it that is awesome. The people with me got very emotional for all of the tribute to Chadwick. He is a big part of what made the MCU so great and fresh again with the first movie and all of his appearances in the other movies. I'll watch it again and how to find something more then what I missed the first time around. For right now I can't recommend this to people who deal with tragedy with comedy or levity. There just isn't any of that to be found here. And really, THAT'S how you use Lake Bell? C'mon Expand

Black Panther 2 without the Black Panther is Disney Marvel's dumbest folly yet. Delay and recast were the way to go with this sequel. Way too long running time to sit through a plot so boring and incoherent. Disney so focused on identity politics and virtue signalling forgot to put the brakes on the director and writers throwing everything up the wall and using what sticks. The Namor character was so far removed from the classic origins of the old Marvel comics, he just came across like a big joke with that ludicrous backstory. The Shuri character is less annoying in this one than she was in the 1st Black Panther film but nevertheless, unable to carry the weight of the film on her tiny narrow shoulders. Angela Bassett was acting like...Angela Bassett as she's been doing for the past 10 years. A fantastic actress that was given a stupid plot and reasoning to go against the wishes of Namor that sparked the tensions and war. The Dora Milaje female warriors were even more insufferable this time round than ever before, quite frankly on this evidence, they'd beat the old Avengers and Thanos in one afternoon the way the director has amped them up with nothing more than carry shields and extendable staffs. That leaves the worst character in the film - Riri Williams aka "Ironheart", the teenage 19-year-old genius from the age of 3 first built her own powered Iron suit??? Yeah ok Disney. More Z-list characters to contend with and roll your eyes at as the world awaits yet another Disney+ content tv show starring Ironheart in 2023. In this film she yet another Disney heroine with a sulky bad attitude that knows everything and is the key to everything - a well-used and tired Disney trope at this point. The two scenes dedicated to the late great star Chadwick Boseman were exploitive at best, ill-advised at worst. Of course, I understand the cast and crew wishing to pay tribute to their former cast member, but what was served just didn't hit me in the feels the way the film wishes it did. Everyone has said it already, they should've recast the Black Panther role instead of killing him off, what a dumb decision. Now the franchise has blackballed itself behind the glaring fact that T'Challa is no more, again a choice that just didn't work. A very poor and disappointing film. Black Panther 2 is a mess of a film that ultimately dishonours the late star. Expand

It's well acted for the most part, has some decent visuals, everyone involved is clearly trying but... yeah, it's mediocre. It drags along at a snails pace - it feels like a thousand mile journey and the car is starting to chug and break down during the last bit and you just can't wait to see the finish line. This should have been cut back by a good 45 minutes.

And again, it's almost all due to the script. A nonsensical villain and a plot with more holes than a swiss cheese, where characters do things 'just because' rather than because they're following any logic in the parameters of the universe they're in.

For me, Wakanda Forever is a shame. A swing and a miss, but at least they legitimately did try to hit.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The beginning and end segments of this movie are absolutely fantastic. It handles the real life death of it's lead actor with more grace and class than any other sequel I can think of.

Unfortunately, the issue is in what's between the beginning and the end. I can hear the Disney corporate committee planning on this movie, "Hmm. They liked Thanos and Killmonger, let's merge the two for the villain this time. Oh, and since they like Wakanda, let's make the villain be from a secret super advanced society very similar to Wakanda. It will be like a Killermonger/Thanos lead Wakanda versus the actual Wakanda. Kind of like the climax of the last film, which the audience liked." Despite this overly safe set-up, Namor is still pretty solid as the antagonist and while he's no Magento (sorry, Namor is not right) it's functional.

What doesn't work is Ironheart. Riri Williams does not belong in this movie. It's a disservice to Wakanda Forever and it's a disservice to Ironheart. Riri should have had her own standalone origin movie and she feels completely shoehorned into this movie. Riri distracts needlessly from the Wakanda narrative and, clearly, is only introduced here because Disney doesn't have the integrity to launch Riri in her own standalone film.

On the note of compromising Wakanda in order to put narrative focus on Riri. The worst decision this film makes is have Queen Ramonda - a powerful mature woman of color - sacrifice herself in order to save Riri. This is a repeat of Marvel's mishandling of it's female authority figure in Thor: Dark World but it hits even harder here because it's a colossal waste of a talented, engaged actress. Apparently Angela Bassett challenged the decision but was told, "don't worry. It's comics, dead people come back all the time." Which is garbage storytelling and completely undermines the narrative stakes. What a terrible misstep. At least have the Queen lay down her life to save her own people or her own family, to just sacrifice the strongest female authority figure in the story for some stranger - just like Queen Frigga in Thor: Dark World - is an absolute waste.

So, ultimately, the beginning and end are very good. Marvel plays it too safe in the middle acts, distracts from Wakanda by shoehorning in the next franchise, and needlessly kills off one of Black Panther's best characters. The visuals and sound are top notch, just what you'd expect, but most of the heart from this one comes from the off screen death of T'chala.
