If you are a big fanboy of the Justice League you are not going to like this move but me how is not a Justice League fanboy really enjoyed the movie.

This movie is the slow start on DC:s Justice League movie series, but take it for what it is a GREAT first movie and i hope that they will continue and i hope it will get stronger and stronger.

Well that's all about that.

The movie it self are introducing Superman ,Batman and Wonder Woman together

Ben Affleck are good as Batman, he is doing a great roll as a burden Bruce Wayne, who want to do something to make the world a better place before he die's (and before he gets to old)

Henry Cavill is doing very nice (same as Man of Steel) Superman, as man how is trying to find he's place in this world and trying to find a balance for "Superman" in our world and being accepted by the world.
He is a man with a conscience (really well played by Henry Cavill giving Superman this) how is trying his best to help the world.

Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman gets a little time in this movie but here story is told enough to make her interesting (a little more about her backstory but maybe next movie)
Gal Gadot herself are Good as Wonder Woman, they really got the right person for the roll

Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor is BAD really really BAD, he is a mix of Joker and Lex Luther tougher and are pulling down this movie, Please to NOT BRING HIM IN THE NEXT MOVE,
Jesse Eisenberg are doing what he can do with he's roll, he is acting is good but he has a very bad script to work with (as Lex Luthor......lol as --->Lex "Joker" Luthor

Slightly overlong in term of running time, the film opens surprisingly beautiful with flashback of Wayne's disastrous childhood and further progresses into the reckless fight between Superman and Zod at the end of previous installment. The ambitious and potential major acts in the film - conflict between Batman and Superman, Lex Luthor's motives and the fight against villain at the climax; all seems to be underdeveloped and not well executed, leaving several questions of all the intentions behind. Ben Affleck as Batman is on par with Bale's version but a bit more brutal and stubborn, Cavill's Superman is fine but a bit depressed, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is definitely the gorgeous one and she manages to capture the attentions even with a limited screening time, Jeremy Iron's Alfred owns a great chemistry with Wayne but Eisenberg portrayal of Lex Luthor is over exaggerated. Although heavily CGIs, Snyder has delivered spectacular visual effects and intense actions among the superheroes while the collaboration between Zimmer and Junkie XL are just outstanding to produce different adrenaline driven theme scores for all the superheroes. While it might not be the best superheroes flick, lacks of humors and emotional depth compared to The Dark Knight trilogy, it is an overall improvement from Man of Steel and the Nolan style ending is still impressive enough to further expands into the universe of Justice League. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. SPOILERS! There is an amazing and an awful side to this movie, but finally it's probably a 7. It was very enjoyable, normally would be 8 or 9, but you can't deny the clear plot problems. It was all over the place, and although Batman and Superman teaming up at the end was an okay ending (although I didn't take off points for this, not a preferred ending for me), Batman and Superman forgot their differences too quickly. The original plot of the movie was the best, but it got out of hand although replaced with a new decent plot. But the transitions were awful. Then there was too much action. Great action, but, hell, there was no longer a plotline the movie was just a fight. The acting can be seen both ways, but Eisenberg was Lex Luthor, not the Joker. Although as a Joker he did well. Even as Lex Luthor he was okay. Affleck was actually great. Cavill was up and down. Gadot... not so good. But the acting was still more than satisfactory. This movie is almost an 8, but... eh... It was just out of focus and execution wasn't as good as it could be. Expand

It has a lot of quick cuts that seem to move the movie along too fast but you can keep up if you have half a brain. The climactic battles in the end definitely make the movie shine and give you a glimpse of greatness to come! Don't let the haters steer you away from seeing this. Be warned though, this is a darker movie. It's not Marvel silliness. Batman kills people, he's a broken man who's been at it over 20 years. Superman is still getting his hero feet but that doesn't mean the movie sucks. It's a different take so you either love it or hate it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Doomsday, relleno nivel transformers 4 y Spiderman 3. Hacia falta meterlo???? Y asi de Mal??? Para eso ni lo saques, para lo que hace.

Matar a Superman...en serio? La JLA va a ser la muerte y regreso de Superman? Parece que estan intentando hacer el proyecto Superman lives, y lo va a hacer Snyder? No no no....no va a salir bien.

I gave this movie a solid 8. It was A L OT of fun and a MUCH needed upgrade from the disappointing Man of Steel movie.
To my surprise, Affleck was a very good Batman. Lex/Eisenberg were the surprising (to me) weak links. The way Lex was written reminded me of a hybrid Joker/Lex character more than what Lex Luther is supposed to be. Eisenberg was a terrible casting choice.
Other than that, the cast was very solid, the action was great, and it was a fun and enjoyable movie. I didn't find the story hard to follow at all. This movie is a much needed win for DC in this genre!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just saw the movie. Had to write a review after seeing what the critics said. This is more of a movie for people who enjoy comics, than it is for people who enjoy how a movie and story is told. Ill get the negatives out of the way first. Yes there are issues with juggling all of the characters and the transitions from scene to scene stink. And there are also plot holes. But they dont detract from the overall movie. Other than that the movie is good. Its obviously just trying to summarize everything up quickly for the Justice league movie and to catch up to marvel. Ben affleck is probably the best on screen batman and deserves a solo film, gal gadot is great in her given time, and jessie is just ok. He gives a very strange depiction of thr villian but i believe some of his crazy can be explained im future films. The reason is he seems to know at the end that something is coming. Perhaps he had a vision like batman. All in all it doesnt deserve as much criticism as its getting. If you enjoy comics youll like it. Expand

However, once I actually saw this movie it left me with nothing but smiles. This film was filled with amazing fights, a great soundtrack and an overall feel of a well made superhero movie that many studios such as marvel are missing in some of their films. Some people believe that there were elements to the movie that were not needed and that the studio tried to fit too much into a single movie. I too had such a fear, but after seeing the events told I thought the movie had a great setup and then a great conclusion. While this film may not please everyone with exact copies of moments from the comics, the film did provide the events with only slight changes that I found exciting. And while certain members of the cast might not seem like a perfect fit to the characters(Jesse Eisenburg as Lex Luthor) all actors/actresses were great fits for this film's version of those iconic characters. Do not listen to the big name critics this time, go see the movie for yourself and I believe that even if you don't love it you will think that it was a lot better than what they are saying about it. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Being a mega-fan of Batman, a big fan of Superman, and a big fan of DC Comics in general, I went into this movie really excited. I'd been waiting for this movie for three years when I watched it. After watching it, I was satisfied. I'd been a little disappointed at the plot, but overall, it was a satisfying experience. Does it deserve all the hate it's getting? No. Are people who watched the movies just fanboys and brand loyalists if they tell you that you probably didn't understand the "Martha" scene if you didn't like it? Well, probably not actually. If you really think that Batman and Superman stopped fighting because their mothers have the same name, you're mistaken, but that's an argument for another day. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is a pretty enjoyable movie, especially for fans of the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel, however, the movie has a few significant flaws. One of the biggest is Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor. I liked the character and Eisenberg's performance, but the problem is...the character is supposed to be Lex Luthor. Really, he feels more like a blend of the Joker and the Riddler. Other than his genius-level intellect, his name, and getting his head shaved at the end, he bears no similarity to Lex Luthor whatsoever. Moreover, I thought the actual titular "Batman v Superman" fight was a bit short. It was only eight minutes long (possibly a reference to the source material, "The Dark Knight Returns"), and a lot of it was spent talking or just standing. There wasn't really enough actual fighting. I thought that the character of Wonder Woman wasn't given enough meaning to the plot and this movie spent too much time adapting panels from the comics to please comic book readers. Other than that, the editing was all over the place. Some things didn't make sense, and when the Ultimate Edition was released and I watched it, I was truly baffled as to why key plot points were completely taken out of the film as opposed to other scenes. Now, the film uses its time very well, but the problem is that it doesn't have ENOUGH time. Rather than use several films to build up an epic battle between the two greatest, most iconic heroes of all time, Zack Snyder makes an attempt to stuff a great deal of content in a 2.5 hour film. It feels really rushed and at times, even pointless. However, with great performances from Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, the introduction of the most iconic female character in comic books into cinema, stellar fight sequences, and the teasing of the coming of Darkseid and his Apokoliptian army, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is a pretty solid film, though a bit lackluster at times. This is, however, not deserving of a critic score of 44 on Metacritic and a Tomatometer rating of 27% on Rotten Tomatoes. Not at all. This isn't a bad movie at all. It's pretty solid, albeit disappointing at times. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is pretty underrated in my opinion. However, from a critical standpoint, the storytelling is very sloppy, with many scenes simply crammed in next to each other to create a big blob. On a positive note, the action sequences are incredible and Zack Snyder's visual mindset is definitely noticeable while watching Batman v Superman. Ben Affleck surprisingly does very well with the character of Batman, putting his own interpretation on the iconic character, despite Batman killing people in the movie at times, which is very far outside Batman's moral compass in the comic books. Henry Cavill does a good job as Superman, giving a more dark and gritty tone to the role. Gal Gadot is more Diana than Wonder Woman in the film, but her scenes as Wonder Woman play out as some of the best scenes in the movie, and she does a terrific job with the character. Amy Adams as Lois Lane is often simply used as a plot device, as there are scenes where I felt she didn't have to actually be there for anything, but she's just there because I guess she's Superman's girlfriend, but I don't really know what her place is supposed to be in the film. Jesse Eisenberg is miscast as Lex Luthor. He does a good job doing Jesse Eisenberg-ish things, but he just wasn't meant to play Lex Luthor. The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg all have cameo appearances, but how they are presented in the movie is a bit disappointing, and seems very abrupt and just the most convenient way to fit them into he movie's already convoluted plot. The third act is fittingly epic, giving some of the best action I've seen in a superhero movie in along time. It also includes a sacrifice that was very emotionally gripping, but I won't reveal too much information. My biggest concern after watching Batman v Superman was my realization that if you have seen every trailer, you have basically seen all of the important plot points in the movie, aside a few new unseen things and other surprises.

All in all, Batman v Superman doesn't quite live up to expectations, but it delivers a powerful and action-packed---even if messy---story with stunning visuals and great performances, which sets the tone for future Justice League movies and the long-anticipated DC Cinematic Universe.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was my favorite superhero movie of last year. I'm having a really hard time understanding why this receives all of the hate it does. I personally think a lot of people were expecting a marvel style movie and we're put off by the realistic tone Snyder was trying to achieve. I loved the build up to the fight it's self and I thought the everything before it was nessecary and expected in a follow up to Man of Steel. The Battle of Metropolis was a big deal, lots of people died, the first portion of BvS is all about the fallout to that battle and was something that needed to be addressed. In a sense BvS is about varying opinions of what is right and what is wrong, and I think that it showcases how our world would actually react if something like Superman existed. This is a film which requires you to pay attention to everything, and one that benefits from additional viewings. It's a film that requires you the think beyond the script, to question and draw conclusions of your own. It doesn't shove everything down your throat, it expects you to pay attention and if you don't you most likely will find the movie boring and a waste of time. A bit of advise, though not required I recommend watcing Man of Steel before BvS, it just helps justify the majority of this film. I'd also strongly recommend skipping the theatrical cut and watching the Ultimate Edition which I think was the version of the film that Snyder wanted us to see, it fixes a lot of the problems you'll find in the negative reviews across the Internet. Overall I think BvS is a great film, but if you go into it expecting a marvel style film you will be disappointed. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've seen all the iterations of Batman in film, but none of the animated ones. I have read Dark Knight Returns but had to look up who Doomsday is, so I am a fan but not a fanatic. I was really disappointed to see how this movie was trashed by many - but not all critics. I read a cross section of the reviews here on this site- I recommend you hit the button to expand the critic reviews fully to give an accurate sampling...I really enjoyed the movie, I have to say that. There were plot points like the dream sequences that seemed more WTF moments for me, and the movie had lots to develop to set up future films. But I liked it, I liked Affleck I liked Gadot, I thought Cavill was strong...was it derivative of the Nolan's or a brand new direction, a little of both. Snyders movies are big and brassy yet the film I thought had some softer subtle moments that played well for me and for my wife. In my opinion the movie was much better than the bad reviews- and not as good as the Nolan's- though to be fair Zachary Snyder is charting a new path- and I liked it. In fact and I expect a flame war to follow- despite my love for Joss Whedon's work I only really liked the first half of the Avengers, and was not into Ultron at all, Captain America movies were for me much more fulfilling- Give me Bat and Supes any day! For the experts out there who know Death of Superman comic, and Miller's Dark Night Returns, would you say the film embraces any of those works? Go see it for yourself. I will go a second time! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay, here is the unabridged movie description, spoilers and all. The movie starts with a flashback to Batman's parents dying, which we all already saw just a mere ten years ago in Batman Begins, or even more recently if you can stomach the terrible Fox show Gotham. Little Bruce Wayne runs away from his parents funeral and falls into a cave of bats. Then out of nowhere he starts flying with the bats. Then it cuts to black and Ben Affleck says, "that part was just a dream." Phew, close call, I almost walked out of this 3 hour movie 4 minutes in. Next it cuts to Superman blowing up Metropolis while Bruce Wayne is conveniently in the neighborhood. Bruce Wayne becomes very angry at Superman's lack of control in the field of collateral damage. He spends two years thinking about how much he doesn't like Superman, then the movie starts. The first scene in present day is the cops walking in on a Batman crime scene and talking about how much of a badass Batman is in this universe. Then Batman goes back to the Bat Cave after a night of badassery, and is greeted by an Alfred that looks five years older than him. WTF SNYDER?! How old was Alfred when he started raising the young orphan Affleck? 10?! You're creating plot holes where there don't need to be plot holes. Also, in this universe Alfred pressures Batman to have a family more than my mother after a glass of wine. "Sir, I've loaded the coordinates to your Bat Computer and set a course for the meth lab operators; also, have you met the one yet?" Bruce Wayne must be discouraged to settle down by Clark Kent and Lois Lane's over-the-top PDA throughout the movie. They act more in love than two high school band geeks at their first kegger. Few things of importance happen in the first ninety minutes of the movie. Wonder Woman says like two lines, this crippled guy vandalizes a Superman statue, and Lex Luthor creates Doomsday by mixing General Zod's corpse with his own blood (...what?). Then the moment we've all been waiting for comes and Batman and Superman duke it out in a tremendously wonderful fight that lasts about fifteen minutes. Batman is about to win the fight by stabbing Superman with a Kryptonite spear, when Lois Lane comes out of nowhere and basically says "Your moms have the same name!" Batman puts down the spear and makes up with the Man of Steel just in time to save the city from Doomsday. In her infinite wisdom, Lois Lane throws the Kryptonite spear (the one thing that can kill Doomsday) into this deep hole full of water, then is like Oh F*** we need that! Superman throws Doomsday into space, and the army (clearly never having seen Independence Day) decides the only way to kill Doomsday is with a nuke, eliminating the threat but also killing Superman in the crossfire. They launch the nuke and lo and behold Doomsday survives. Superman takes a bit longer to recover, so Batman and Wonder Woman try to fight off this colossal alien on their own. Superman comes back in time to save a drowning Lois, who tried to retrieve the Kryptonite spear she oh so naively threw away. Then Superman retrieves the spear, and is about to finish off Doomsday with it, when Lois pulls him aside and says "you can't go, I love you." LOIS. THE CITY IS F***ING EXPLODING. TONS OF PEOPLE ARE DYING, LET YOUR BOYFRIEND OUT OF YOUR SIGHT FOR 5 F***ING MINUTES. Superman kills Doomsday with the spear and Doomsday stabs him with this sharpened bone thing. The next scene is Superman's funeral. He survived being nuked in space, but clearly could not live through being stabbed. Superman's mom gives Lois an engagement ring and said "He had it delivered here so he could surprise you." BULL S***. He had it delivered to your farm in Kansas, a place Lois Lane clearly doesn't visit often, in order to surprise her, then conveniently dies so this is considered more of a beautiful moment and less of a massive f***ing plot hole. Then Batman says, I'm gonna finish what we started and Superman comes back to life. The End. Expand

When this film is good it is great. Say what you will about Snyder, he knows how to pull off an awesome action sequence. Visually the film looks great and (while some people seem to dislike this) I think the dark tone is good too.
DC are trying to distinguish themselves from the Marvel films and I think going for a more mature vibe is a smart way to do it.
The performances are solid but my favourite has to be Jeremy Irons. He isn't in it long but I love his portrayal of a tired and cynical Alfred.
Also I the sound track is just great! I especially like Wonder Womans theme.
All that said, this film has problems. Lots of them.
Like I say, I like that they're going for a more grown up ton but there are moments when it gets a little heavier than it needs to be. There are three superheroes in this film and they all seem to hate being a superhero, I don't think it would hurt for one of them to at least seem like they like what they do.
There are a lot of easter eggs and set ups for future films, some of which are done better than others (the justice league cameos are really lazily done). I really enjoyed looking out for the nods and winks but there are so many of them in this film and so heavily emphasized that I think it would be quite alienating to a casual viewer who wasn't that farmiliar with the comics.
Henry Cavill is a good Superman but we knew that already. The new heroes (Affleck and Gadot) are what I'm a bit conflicted about.People say 'Wonder Woman stole the show' but collectively she's only in it for like 8 minutes. It's a good 8 minutes, she doesn't get anything wrong but it's still just 8 minutes, hardly enough to steal a show.
Whether or not you'll like Batman depends on what interperatation if the character is your favourite. Personally I like Batman when he has his no killing rule so I'm not a massive fan of this one. Not to say Affleck does a bad job, he certainly doesn't but in this film Batman kills without hesitation or remorse.
Jesse Eisenberg as Luthor... I don't know where to stand. He gives it his all but I'm not keen on awkward nerdy Luthor.
Also the editing in the first hour or so of the film is kind of clunky and the final fight at the end feels kind of tacked on like they just needed a last minute excuse to get the three heores in one place. I mean Doomsday (aside from looking like a generic CGI monster taken from WETA digitals stock library) just doesn't feel necessary here.
So all in all it's good but far from perfect. If you're on the fence about going to see it then I would definitely urge you to go.

As far as stories go I really enjoyed it. It was a nice and fresh approach with lots of great action moments.
To be quite honest I'm looking forward to seeing more of this Batman more than anything else. I couldn't care much for the upcoming Suicide Squad with that generic thug-looking Joker, but Batman v Superman was a great watch. Yes this Batman is very different, so is the Lex, but why does different have to be so bad? They still stuck to the core of the characters, and that's what matters.
I would recommend this to any Batman or Superman fan and life-long comic book readers.

The whole negativity surrounding the movie makes you feel like the critics want to have full control over movies these days. Critics and some people were prepared to hate on the movie way before the movie was released. Please tell me how that is fair? You should be open minded towards a movie, if you simply can't do it then please don't review movies, but then yet no one was hating on Civil War before it came out, which proves Marvel is so damn overrated. I am not saying they are bad movies, but critics hated things in BVS that they praised in Civil War...wow so bias..great. But nonetheless this movie is simply so good, it gets more better after each watching. My final verdict is that the movie was really entertaining and saved us a proper comic book Batman which I am a big fan off. At least majority of fans liked the movie and the movie did pretty well at the box office, not a huge runaway success but a success anyway. Thank you Snyder for making this movie a possibility . I liked it a lot, a good mix of action and backstory and a good conflict. It was really interesting to me because while marvel heroes are always painted as distinctly good guys, here you have superman who is revered by some but hated by others. Despite being completely different, batman too faces the same moral questions as superman as he is viewed as a vigilante. It's just very interesting how different the heroes are they both face the exact same paradox of balancing the good, like how batman wants to kill superman initially and at the same time superman sees batman as a criminal operating outside the law basically. The only part of the movie I didn't like was how batman so quickly changed his mind about superman just cus they told him how Lex was manipulating the situation. I don't think all that deep seeded anger just dies that quickly. Expand

Watch the Ultimate Cut and don't even bother with the original Theatrical Release. Warner Brothers screwed up badly by forcing a worse version of the film into theaters. I truly believe the Ultimate Cut is worthy of 5/5 stars. The Ultimate Cut is the definitive version of this gem and I actually liked it a lot. Very different than any other superhero movie you have ever seen and it doesn't deserve that hate it receives. Ben Affleck is the best Batman/Bruce Wayne. Henry Cavill doesn't get enough praise for his portrayal as a troubled but kind Superman. Gal Gadot steals the scene she is in as Wonder Woman and the fight scene between the Holy Trinity and Doomsday was really awesome. I thought this movie had guts and you can't say that about any of the MCU films.

two things are a bit annoying about the movie:
1.) it sure does have some unnecessary and lenghty parts but it's not too bad.
2.) plot may feel 'all over the place' to some - if u are dim witted.

I rated it 10/10 to counterbalance the hilariously bad scores it received. My actual verdict would be 8/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This film easily stands appove most of the superhero movies we ve seen over the last 8 years, the comedy/action flicks have always bored me it didnt work for green lantern and i see franchises like the avengers to be no differnt. The scripts and narratives of such movies have lacked in any complexity and the heros have always come accross as comedians who cant take anything seriously even death, it is a releif to see DC taking their new cinimatic universe seriously with compelling narratives and deep emotional characters.

Im giving the film 10 although i think its more 8-9 just beacuse of the truly unfair bias critics who would rate this film 1 star and leave comments such as "not as fun as the avengers".

and to the ppl who say humor is how soldiers act in warzones or surgeons duing operations as i have heard a number of times i want to inform them that, that is not true. A soldier does not joke about while taking fire and having freinds killed around him or a surgeon doesnt think of the snappiest one liner while the patient is bleeding out infront of them, humor has a place in films and BVS showed that side of the heros once the main fight was concluded(spoilers) lulling the audience into a more lighthearted sense of mind then delivering the earth shattering DOS narrative, a plot point which i feel was used perfectly to represent the pivot point in sorcieties opinion of superman and gives a compelling reason to why ordinary ppl would accept a godlike being as their saviour.

Zack Snyder is a genius, the full production is absolutely awesome and everyone who worked on this film did it perfectly. I couldn't be happier with the film, and Looking forward to purchasing on bluray (statues editions). The only slight negative I would give is the soundtrack by Zimmer and XL - although incredible and a key to providing a massive impact to the films roller coaster atmosphere, id say it is not quite as epic and focused as the score from Man of Steel - but that is a tall order to beat. Nonetheless congrats to the actors (amazing performances by all characters) and truly the entire production crew for creating this masterpiece, cant wait for the sequel! No doubt, Marvel really needs to hire Zack Synder to do their films...really. Expand

This was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. There were a few questionable editing choices. But other than that I thought it did a good job setting up the franchise. I hope they make a sequel with the flash and aqua man.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think that this was a very dark movie specially for Batman. This will contain spoilers but I have to spoil so that people can understand why this was a dark film. BATMAN KILLS IN THIS MOVIE! Yeah... The paid criminals don't live when they see batman. That is not Batman, and when they discuss about what to do with superman, it feels so stupid because in the film Bruce or Alfred says that they have done this for over 20 YEARS!! Why do they talk about superman after 20 years?! This doesn't add up. Did superman come to earth 20 years after Bruce started being a hero? Why is Batman "Marking" criminals with a bat symbol on their chest?

Lex Luthor is bad in this film. That is not Lex, that is Jokers son. He acted crazy like Joker. Why didn't they use Lex from Smallville? Ben Affleck did look cool but to me, did not fit the role as I hoped for. Batman isn't as smart as he is in the animated movies. No problems with Superman or Wonder Woman. Loved all the Justice League and Darkseid hints. Just waiting for a sequel to this film with the rest of the Justice League. BUT PLEASE DC! USE THE HEROES FROM THE SERIES LIKE GRANT GUSTIN AS THE FLASH!

Another problem is that they tried to fit a lot of story in this film which made the film a little bit boring. Too much I won't remember when the sequel comes.

All in all, this movie is okay and it works.

For me personally I feel like the trailers over sold the movie and built up so much hype for the movie, in-which they could never succeed in achieving. The movies run time is just a little to long for its own good. The first hour or so drags with no real action so when the action finally happens, I felt frustrated by it all. The name is very misleading, it should be Batman & Superman not Batman v Superman, as by the end of the movie we are left feeling a little let down when it comes to the battle between these two heroes. Ben Affleck was a great Bruce Wayne but I can't help but feel that this should've been a Man of Steel 2 movie and left Batman out until Justice League as Batman completely outshines Superman throughout the whole of it. Some issues with plot and character use however both batman and wonder woman portrayed spot on. The dream sequences could confuse those with less prior knowledge/ experience of the DC universe Superman has the biggest challenge both in motivation and connection to the audience. Very wooden in delivery not much hope or anything to really like about superman. I do feel that too much was shared during the lead up and it takes away from the overall experience (common issue during trailers and pre release campaign these days ). Very dark could use some softer moments would improve overall experience. Lex could be less cartoonie at times more devious like some of the recent videos overall he was ok. Special effects were great some gaps in fight sequence s . Thought doomsday was much better that critical press on the character. Look forward to both batman and wonder woman in the future hope they continue to steal the show. I really feel the professional press/critics are ganging up on a movie they never gave a chance. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Have to admit, I was a little disappointed and a bit wary after reading some of the critic's reviews; however, after seeing the film myself, I honestly don't think it's that bad. Sure, there are some problems with pacing and humour (though there are a couple of laughs to be had after the two superheroes join forces) as well as a seemingly random post-apocalyptic dream sequence/vision, and yes, the final battle is fairly generic, but overall, I felt the film delivered on at least a basic level in bringing to screen a Batman v Superman tale, one that develops the character and plot elements from Man of Steel, while setting the stage for the even bigger Justice League films. If you are a comic book fan, one JL tie-in will shock both you and a major character into flipping out, while another acknowledgement of an old factoid is one of the strongest emotional moments in a comic book movie.

Batman is finally made real and you will see why he is driven to do what he does. Superman is put through the emotional wringer. Wonder Woman is awesome. Brings a fresh but weird take on Lex, whose genius is a product of trial and error rather than a master plan and who sees immensely strong beings as a personal affront to his bastion of knowledge based power. Supporting actors are great, especially Jeremy Irons and Holly Hunter while Laurence Fishburne has fun.

It's certainly got its problems, mainly the story being kinda disjointed and trying to work too many angles into one film. That and Eisenberg was an awful choice for Luthor, he just completely butchers the role by trying to be the Joker. All that said, it's still a pretty good movie. It's dark, violent, and very serious. Unlike most other comic book movies, it's not campy or cracking jokes to lighten the mood the whole time. The action is intense and brutal. They didn't pull any punches with the fight scenes, nor did they spare us the reality of how barbaric and devastating a battle of these kinds would really be. I also enjoy the way they incorporate the ugliness of human nature, the idiocy of our modern media, and our propensity to find blame anywhere we can. All in all, I enjoyed it, despite its flawed story and questionable casting choices. It's unfortunate, because I think it could have been a great movie, but the flaws turn it into simply a decent movie. Expand

I am REALLY happy I got earlier tickets. When we got out, it was 9pm, and there was only 1 or 2 previews. I think that hurts this movie. I prefer Marvel movies, and I really like the MCU. Because of that, I don't know a lot of the DC history. (I am a big fan of the current CW shows, though).

So, I am pretty sure there were a lot of pieces that went over my head. I have since read some sites talking about easter eggs and explaining parts. That does help the movie. They also just released a deleted scene, that I think explains even more.

So, I'd say as it stands, the movie is good. Not exactly fun, but a good, solid action/super-hero movie. I'd rate it a 7. But, I bumped it 1 more, because the more I read, and learn about it, I really think this movie sets up the coming years quite a bit. I honestly believe that upcoming movies will make pieces of this movie suddenly click into place. That is why I bumped it one more.

I really think Jeremy Irons as Alfred was good. I think Gal Gadot played a very good WW. I am really looking forward to seeing more of her and WW. Henry Cavill was decent. I think Superman was a little on the lame side for most of the movie. I think Ben Afleck did a great Batman. I really like his version, though, I do prefer Bale a bit. Afleck shows that he can be a super-hero... I did not think he could pull it off, after Daredevil. Finally, I think Jesse Eisenberg played a great Lex Luthor. Eccentric, intelligent, thinking/working on a different plane. Diabolical. He played a very interesting character.

I wish the movie had more laughs. There was one big one, in the entire movie. It is a comic book movie, and while I understand the gritty world takes itself VERY seriously, I think you need a few comic beats to really bring the movie together. This one lacked that.

This movie has me really looking forward to what is in store for the DCCU. I am really looking forward to Wonder Woman and Justice League. This is a solid movie, that should be watched at the theater at least once.

Im failing to understand how reviewers have ended up giving it a 44 metacritic (At the time or writing); Cause this isnt anywhere near that level movie. Maybe they need to start giving themselves a structure to follow, five categories each with 20 points e.g. story, effects, acting, music and misc as they have not done the movie justice with there reviews.

I was a bit worried because of the critics, but in the end this movie is really great.

Affleck give us a Batman tired of fighting a never ending battle against crime and you can feel his hatred for Superman. Henry give us a Superman having to deal with the consequences of his actions. You cant just punch someone through a building and expect everyone will call you a hero.

Jesse brings a Lex who is acts like a geek who made lots on money with his intelligence but in really he is a psychopath with a huge God Complex.

Gal doesn't have much time on scene but the banter between Diane and Bruce is fun to watch.

Also the dream sequences connect well with the rest of the movie, unless you have no idea about how the powers from one of the superheroes in this movie works...

The combat sequences are really good too, and so is the music.
That being said, the movie moves a bit too fast in the last act, but nothing to destroy the movie.

Anyway this movie deserves a good 8.5-9/10. I am not sure yet, maybe a need to watch it again.

With a film like this it's difficult to consolidate the negative with the positive, simply because it seems like the problems the naysayers have with the film are not overly concerning those who love the film. I'm part of the latter.

The issues raised with pacing, editing, character investment, and length are all justified. These issues are indeed present in the film, however I take issue with the degree in which these issues have been raised and just how severe they really are.

The film is 2 hours, 31 minutes long. The slightly higher than average run time is warranted due to the fact that the film is indeed trying to set up the new DC cinematic universe but that's where any argument in favor of negative view of "catch up to Marvel" should end. The length of the film isn't to establish a universe so much as it is to allow to spend time in one that you never knew was there.

Anyone who's seen the film could tell you simply because of who Batman is, along with what the other Meta humans (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Flash) have been up to. This isn't world building so much as it is world introduction.

The issues with pacing and editing are also present but like the argument before, it's presence or lack thereof isn't something worth throwing out the baby with the proverbial bath water. Zack Snyder knows all too well that time is his enemy and setting up the set pieces for the closed story arch is important because unlike other super hero "films" this one stands alone better than most. The question is should the film be poo pooed on because it decided to walk the line of brisk pacing in a select group of scenes? Truth is that while the pacing and editing could be counted as reasons to nitpick the film they never become so offensive as faults to have become warranted reasons to disregard what's being presented.

BvS is one of the greatest super hero films if all time, up there with the first Avengers, The Dark Knight, and a few others because it walked the tightrope critics bashed it for simply attempting it, and because of it's aim for the stars delivered an engrossing, deep, ideological film staring two of the oldest, most storied super heroes we know and it did it better than it has ever been do so far.

This film is a classic, and you owe it to yourself to ignore those that say they know anything and everything about film to see it for yourself and enjoy a healthy serving of fine cinema not offered in other super hero offerings.

Cheers!

Affleck, who everyone had doubts about, turned out to be the best part of the film. He almost resembled Keaton's Batman more than anything (my favorite batman). Superman was great, they didn't overuse the melodrama in his scenes. I believe, if the move keeps you interested, than it's doing it's job. Everyone in the theater was on the edge of their seats. The pacing was perfect, builds up to strong ending. Wonderwomen was perfect, beauty and charisma. One thing I strongly disliked was Lex Jr., it felt like he was trying to hard to get a Heath Ledger Joker type performance, it didn't work in the least. Every time he was on screen I thought, Zuckerberg, and the wig was bad. Doomsday didn't have the backstory we all loved in the comics, but he looked really cool and scary. The film looks amazing and the big action scenes are a great pay off. Many stories are build in this film to keep on creating the new DC universe, and all of them are interesting. I didn´t quite like this version of Lex Luthor though. I just didn´t warm to it. But the rest I liked it a lot. Like I said, many details in all the relationships going on. The film is huge and you won´t be disappointed if you´re not looking for a masterpiece. The adult tone adds to it.
