Another great was this film was darker than the first film,at first your like this movie is just fun and FUNNY but along the way it goes dark and I love the way how the humour and seriousness are set, it is beautiful. The character development is great especially hawkeye, hulk and black widow even Ultron(best marvel villain since Loki) he was awesome. Now the reason it's not great is some of the plot points like vision Paul was great as vision but they tried to make him important than he is and I feel it didn't work also I felt Ultron creation or origin was a bit rushed but in the end didn't matter. One major disappointment was ultron's defeat I felt it was a bit anticlimactic and the humour in it was a bit out of place, one small problem was thor's role it was too complicated and didn't make sense but all in all one of the best movies from marvel an absolute BLAST. First, this film had a sense of heart, not failing to take risks at many points. Second, it had some freaking depth for once. You actually felt for the characters, even though Whedon may have emphasized it a bit too much (i.e. Hawkeye's family). Lastly, it actually had a plot. The action scenes were still top notch, the acting, especially by RDJ as Tony Stark, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlett Witch, Scar Jo as Natasha Romanov and especially James Spader as the voice of Ultron, who is probably one of my favorite villain performances in the Marvel Universe. Overall, a worthy sequel to the biggest super hero blockbuster of all time that exceeds it's predecessor in many ways. Expand

It's overly plotted, there are too many characters and storylines and it gets somewhat confusing towards the third act. But it's better than the first one and it features some good action pieces.

The main problem here is that they tried to do too much and the story wound up feeling clustered. The special effects, however, were absolutely impeccable and completely mind blowing. The acting was solid and the action was well directed. My main problems have to do with the script, as it tried to be too funny, and the amount of characters involved. While the new characters were cool, not only did I not know their names (they may have been said, but I must've missed it if it was), but it just wound up feeling incredibly crowded. However, they did a nice job plotting the film and really did a nice job developing the new characters, while also managing to advance the stories of the other heroes. Their adversary is a worthy one, but at a certain point, you do want them to get on with it and finally take on Thanos. At this rate, it feels like that is 20 movies away, honestly. However, on its own ground, this one is a solid entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and brings plenty to the table. Expand

But as far as mid-summer action heavy blockbusters go it hits every mark. My biggest criticism is that some of the character development and dialogue is cut short to make room for the larger cast and more destroying stuff. Its hard in an ensemble film to give every character some kind of story arch. So a few of them are a bit light. Also in a positive note. I really like the doomsday weapon. Usually they are overly complex and use a lot of science/magic. This one, the means of accomplishing it may be science/magic. But the weapon is simple and straightforward. Expand

The story is so thread bare it makes the movie a pain to watch. It's extremely boring, with nothing more but CGI action flying acroos the screen.
I could't finish watching the movie, because was bored out of my mind.

Far too much focus was put on the dumb plot and excessive action scenes and not enough time for the characters or villain. Decent, but disappointing nonetheless.

Not a perfect movie by any account, but James Spader gave life to a cold CG character that could have otherwise been a disaster. There's plenty of trademark humor and spectacle and while Marvel may not have been able to reignite the spark of 2012's 'Avengers' exactly, it operates as an acceptable jump off point for their third phase of movies. Here's hoping this overstuffed movie doesn't hint toward a future of bloated films, but that the refined Ant-Man is more a sign of things to come. Expand

I will say that quicksilver and scarlet witch were awesome in this film and you really cared about their characters. Nick fury should've had a little more screen time I wish, I liked the relationship development between black widow and the hulk as well. The final battle was pretty similar to the final battle in the last movie which kind of sucked but the cinematography made up for it. Overall, an exceptionally good avengers sequel! Expand

I really enjoyed this movie, even more than the first avengers, which had good dialogue, but really failed in the action sequences and the overall story.
Age of Ultron is even better written, the main storyline is again not that spectacular, but this time the pacing felt right and I had some loud laughs.
The action sequences are partly really spectacular (opening shot) and partly a little bit too shaky for my taste.
In the end, this movie entertained me excellently over its entire runtime because of its writing and characters.

TheBasically Transformers with super heroes instead of robots, so guage your likely enjoyment of Avengers: Age of Ultron on that. The problem with the entire Avengers series is too many characters and almost zero character development. The writers are afraid to focus the plot on one or two of the heroes and develop deeper stories because they're bound to do fan service and equal screen time for all of them. Instead of a story the audience can sink their teeth into, Ultron starts out with a CG fight scene and never lets up. Just one fight scene after another, each one trying to top the last. It doesn't take long to get numb to all this and sort of tune it out. Of course the heroes save the day and of course they set it up for the next film. But the ride to get there is so bombastic and shallow I just waited for it to be over. Expand

I would have cut out a half an hour of action and saved it for the special edition blu ray, unless they already have done that. Even though CGI is pretty good it still looks unrealistic, yeh that's cgi that whole city going up, yep all the avengers fighting that's all computer stuff. Some of it is just over the top, if the whole earth went to work to build a flying city they would take ten years just to plan it. Yes this is all fantasy stuff, but we like to see some semblance of reality that's why I remember the house in the country scene more than most of the other stuff. Ultron didn't impress me for some reason as a super robot that is, and the guy he was building, ultra ultron was well, what was he? I thought ultrons face movements when speaking looked too much like plastic moving. Ultron wants to destroy mankind, why? we do enough of that already why not change us into a race of robots, I thought the premise was lame. If I was hulk I would have taken Natasha with me and kept the plane. I think this movie was too much like too much chocolate, it tastes good at the start then just gets sickly sweet, should have made two movies out of it. Expand

Updated Review:
Avengers: Age of Ultron is an equivalent counterpart to its predecessor. It’s a great time with a lot of epicness, laughs and of course the same awesome superheroes. But something is missing.

One of the greatest aspects with this new Marvel movie is that the theme is very different. The chemistry between the main characters is much darker, and the danger is very much from within as it is from Ultron. The best thing with this sequel is the humor; it’s so random and freaking fantastic at some places. I also had a great time with Ultron, he’s visually stunning and a superb character that also got humor! The CGI is incredible, but he did actually look a bit too “computerish”, like a character from a videogame. But Ultron, and Vision are actually both my favorite characters in this movie, especially Vision. He’s freaking awesome (even though he looks like another superhero) and he’s now one of my favorite characters in the MCU. The plot of this film is in a way a bit simpler than in the previous movie, but there are a lot more things going on at the same time. Other great aspects are: a great and action-packed opening scene, much returning and new characters from previous movies, deep messages and conversations, incredible special effects and of course the same classic humor.

But sadly, there are a lot of flaws. The first thing is that they shouldn’t have shown as much as they did in the trailers. Yes it totally made me go watch the movie, but there wasn’t as many surprises as I wanted to see. The trailers did ruin the movie a bit. The 3D didn’t really add anything; there weren’t that many 3D-effects. I also did expect a fantastic soundtrack, but it wasn’t the same as in the first film. The film is also predictable, especially in the third act. It should at least have been one massive plot twist; it would have made the ending much greater even though I totally loved it. The action sequences are of course fantastic, but some of them are all the same and nothing new was contributed, it’s too much focus on CGI and SPX rather on the plot. And it’s awesome to see new and returning characters from previous MCU movies, but it actually became too many, so many of the major characters didn’t get as much focus as I wanted to see.

But I still had a great time with this movie. It’s better than the first but there’s something missing, something important. They had all these incredible characters and actors, but they didn’t use them fully. The movie is fantastic, but it could have been even better. After watching it a second time have all the negative aspects become greater. From a longer perspective do I actually think that the first Avengers movie winns. I'm therefor lowering my rating from 8.8 to 8.6. But instead of reading this long and boring review do I really recommend that you go and watch it, because it’s freaking awesome and it did live up to my expectations.

After the first film was fantastic and all-around well-made, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" just isn't as exciting as the previous film. That said, it's still decently written, well-acted, action-packed enough, and it features a great villain. It's nothing outstanding, and if you go in expecting it to be better than the previous film, you'll be disappointed, but "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is still a good superhero film that's worth at least one watch. When looking uponA explosive yet otherwise forgettable entry in the series the avengers age of ultron rides on the hype of its predecessor and fails to take any risk actions removing any possibility of a threat for the star studded ensemble. When looking upon 2nd film character ark done right i think of Spider-man 2 and the dark knight, both film that handle the vulnerability of the hero testing them until they break then redeem themselves, Age of Ultron however has no threat, there is no fear of a main character dying, no sense of awe in the villain, and weak plot tread that are cringe worthy. The best way to describe Age of Ultron is like eating bread, it plain, devoid of any unique taste and your left wondering why your eating it, while this film does have its redeeming qualities which rounds the review to a 7 you could probably skip the film and not miss much Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My biggest concern about this movie was how Joss Whedon was going to handle the story. Before its release, there was a ton of announcements about new characters like Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Ultron - as well as the returning cast - getting stranded in a 2 hour and a half movie, which scared me a little bit. Director Joss Whedon focused too much on spectacle that he forgot to pay attention to the movie's narrative, which is hampered by too many introductions and exposition, feeling very overcrowded at times. However, the movie does have its character quirks and action set pieces that satisfy in every sense of the world. To be honest, this whole cinematic universe is getting so stuffed that is hard to take a deep breath. Is this the beginning of Marvel's downfall? I hope not.

When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for a global adventure.

I was NOT expecting the beginning of the movie to be what I thought it was going to be in the middle of it. It feels unexplained how the team came back together. I mean, where did the Hulk go after the first Avengers movie? Where did Hawkeye go? Did he stay with S.H.I.E.L.D? It just feels too rushed, and doesn't give you a minute to process because you're in a middle of a spectacularly chaotic action sequence. I must say, Whedon knows how to craft a decently filmed, well choreographed action moment and I love that. But the movie just feels tired in some way. Ultron's motivation is too rushed and somewhat incomprehensible, not to mention he had this shtick that made me wonder how a robot can possess a comedic performance like a real human being. Look, I understand he has artificial intelligence but that doesn't give him the possibility to do that. Or does it?

The Avengers movie (the first one) had this charm that put moviegoers on the edge of their seat. This sequel just puts anyone on the edge of their mind. I know it sounds stupid to say that, but there's no other words to express this overstuffed film. Maybe I'm being too hard on this movie. The characters are excellent, the soundtrack is once again fantastic, the visuals are pretty eye-popping, the action is exuberant and there are several dramatic character moments to enjoy. I'm so sad about Quicksilver's death. He would have made an outstanding avenger. You know, for a minor character, he got a decent amount of screen-time.

Funny scenes return in large supply, mostly between the main characters. Some of the humor works, some doesn't, but it's truly gratifying to see that the team production behind the making of this picture hasn't lost their wit and creativity. I also would like to mention the appearance of Nick Fury. Man, I love that guy, and he didn't earn the screen-time he deserved, which kinda pissed me off. I hope he returns in future installments with a good amount of time.

Final Score to Avengers: Age of Ultron: 6.5/10. Not sure if I'm ever going to bump it down to a 6, but one thing I'm sure: This was a blast. I mean, not just in the bad way, it's just sweet to look at. Despite Ultron's bloated plan, I still liked his design (James Spader did a great job) and his lines of dialogue. I liked the characters, liked Joss Whedon's directing, but that pacing and plotting... we have to work at it, don't we Mr. Whedon? Anyway, this was a solid movie and I hope Marvel keeps improving.

P.S: That Stan Lee cameo was funny...

No real spoilers here but some hints.

I’ll start by saying I did not walk out of the theater with that overwhelming awe-buzz. Honestly though, that is as much about Marvel expectations than the lack of greatness shown on the screen. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll watch anything Marvel makes till the cows come home, they are that good. But let’s face it, we are getting two to three comic-based movies a year, so the novelty is gone and it’s all about the raw film making and acting. Which remains very high in this film, by the way.

On that note, Marvel continue to impress with great dialog, situational comedy, solid action with quality effects. Not to mention lovable characters that are well-defined and deeply developed.

Considering the source of the antagonist in this film, they created a deliciously diabolical character that we can almost feel. Since Marvel has already vetted the core group of protagonists they were at liberty to add a few new ‘Avengers’ in this film without making it feel crowded.

I felt like they advanced the Scarlet Witch too quickly, however. She starts off as a mind manipulator “not ready” for action and allied with the “bad guys”. By the end of the movie she has become a fully evolved and powerful character as well as a member of the Avengers. That transformation from naive frightened girl discovering her power to the energy wielding juggernaut happens a tad too fast.

The Tony Stark character continues to impress and Robert Downey Jr. shows us the darker side of his obsessive behavior. Tony is a good guy that is in desperate need of a moral compass. Good thing the Cap is an Avenger :) With each new movie Scarlett Johannsen continues to impress with a deep character portrayal of Black Widow.

Marvel also continues to bring the whole marvel Universe together with these films. There are tie ins with Marvel’s Agents of Shield on ABC TV, The previous movies including other franchises like the X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy. The whole Marvel Universe is a big connected family and they continue to merge and blend them to keep this wonderful continuity going.

This movie is extremely well done and though I don’t walk out of the theater with that crazy buzz, I think that is a real testament to just how good Marvel is. I have come to expect ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ every time I see a Marvel movie. The expectation is greatness and so when all they deliver is the usual greatness, the buzz isn’t there. It’s like I am Andy Capp and my booze is Marvel Movies, no matter how much I drink I just can’t get lit on it anymore. Don’t for one second think that isn’t a good thing. Marvel just cranks out good movies like Peyton Manning throws touchdown passes; it’s just another day at the office.

I gotta give this movie a solid 4 stars, I know it’s getting old passing out A grades every time Stan Lee touches something, but what am gonna do? It’s good stuff.

In terms of story, nothing is accomplished here, the stakes are not that high because we all know that no one of importance will die or else there wouldn't be a dozen more of these movies, the humor and quips are fine at first but after awhile it just seems forced and when the tone is set for seriousness it's jarring to see jokes in every line of dialogue. Another problem in the movie is also Marvel's biggest weakness, Villains. Ultron, while brilliantly played by James Spader seemed like a threat at first but he and his army of disposable robots are defeated very easily even when some of our heroes only have a Bow and Arrow or Pistols. The film's story regresses as it goes on, taking breaks between plot progressions even when there is no action, trailer like scenes are inserted in the 2nd and 3rd acts to set up the next 4 of these movies and doing so just takes away the story of this movie and makes it seem like $330 million dollar preview of coming (and distant) attractions. Very sad time to go in a Marvel movie with expectations especially after the raising of the bar thanks to Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, like i said this movie should have been a step forward in the franchise but it took 2 steps back instead. All the heroes and stars from the previous movies have returned to reprise their rolls and Josh Whedon is in the directors chair. All that mixes fantastically together in a Comedic Action Flick that most fans of the series will adore. Age of Ultron is much, Much more comedic then previous Marvel films, Everyone gets plenty of chessy one liners and there chance to crack a joke or four(especially Tony Stark). It's not a bad thing, But it can take away from the dramatic feel in some scenes or feel a little forced. The story is based around "Ultron" a AI Tony made to help save the world but didn't quite do what Tony wanted and makes life much more difficult for "The Avengers". The premiums of Ultron and his plans is very dark and grim but between the jokes and so many different sub plots happening it takes away from the real threat Ultron is.

All the actors did a stellar job in their rolls and you can tell they get along great with fellow cast mates. Nothing feels off tone or extremely out of place and gives the acting a bit more of a natural feel even Ultron a robot feels human like.James Spader did a phenomenal job voice acting Ultron , some lines sent shivers down my spine.

All that put together "Age Of Ultron" is a extremely entertaining action movie but it feels like the story development took a bit of a backseat and Comedy and Explosions became more of a focus. I hope Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Or Batman Vs Superman will let marvel see what a slightly more dark and serious super hero movie should look like and push them in that direction with the last Avengers movies.

This Avengers sequel was fine, but it is not what I expected in some things, let's begin:
1. First, and I think is one of the worst, the Incomprehensible romance between Bruce and Black Widow, I mean come on, it came up out of nowhere, Why? When??? Black Widow had a few possible romances first, with Hawkeye (which after this, we know it was just a friendship) then with Captain America (this one was really what i thought that could have worked, but, no) And, finally with Mr. Anger, but after all it finished like all the rest. After all this false romances we just lose hope, so that makes me think that this one just was another.
2. Second, this one could be the worst (or close), the ridiculous humor. Recently Marvel movies are known for its hilarious funny little situations, and by put it all together, jokes, action, drama, unpredictability, all in one, that was what made the first Avengers movie so much memorable, but in this sequel it has non of it, at the point of being mostly ridiculous or even sometimes unfunny (sometimes the jokes are funny), but all the "all in one" situations of the first movie (mostly or as good), you will not find them here.
3. The gooffy, Disney villain version of Ultron, this one did disappoint me, Ultron wasn't intimidating or scary like we have come to expect. It's true, Ultron was not dark, even if "dark" is the definition of Ultron itself. It was almost all the time, a gooffy, not worthy villain. And it wasn't the macabre, DARK foe that made life impossible to the Avengers.
4. The story has many holes. We already talk about the worthless relationship of Hulk and Black Widow, or the not fare adaptation of Ultron. But despite that, the story still have many holes, like the poorly limited time of Ultron on screen or the fast moving of the movie that leave us sometimes confused. But probably the worst thing was the fact that a brand-new avenger just died, it leaved me in shock (by the way, the death of quicksilver wasn't so touching, it was cute and sad, but the reaction that I had was being very confused, I mean, he just came here, and he dies?. another thing that bothered me was the post credits scene, it "literally" remakes the scene of the first movie, Marvel also is known for its exciting post credits scene that leaves us with emotion and waiting the next movie. This post credits scene is too short and it just leaves me waiting more.
5. This sequel do not live up to its hype. Really, the trailer was just amazing and exciting, but the movie is not even close. What truly disappointed me was that the trailer seems so epic, I though that it could even be better than the first, mostly because it gave the impression of being a serious movie, by an intimidating Ultron, real human drama, suspense, we all waited that sooner or later it will be a point that the movies will became serious and melodramatic, the trailer said that, but you all know the result. I think that Age of Ultron recycles its predecessor epicness to give a remake of the first movie, but better, and it isn't.

Let's face it, the movie wasn't bad, it was undeniably entertaining, but as a true fan of Marvel's movies this sequel of the avengers wasn't what I waited with so much emotion. Once again the movie was not bad at all, its special effects are amazing and some action scenes are awesome as well, and the performances are undeniably good (by the way, James Spader gave a remarkable voice acting, what I didn't like was the interpretation of Ultron itself) But after all, the movie has many holes, but I have to say that it is in many ways a satisfyingly sequel.

Changing the subject, I give all my hopes in Civil War, that is one of the most EPIC comics and after The Winter Soldier, I hope an excellent movie like it. Don't you???

Everything this movie does was either done better in the first movie or it mostly didn't work at all. The romance between Dr. Banner and Black Widow is so unnecessary that it causes a notable sigh with audiences. Ultron himself is an uninteresting villain. Which that has more to do with the fact that he's an uninspired version of Tony Stark. And while I will say that the story is miss-narration from time to time, but it isn't too hard to follow.

However, the movie itself is fun to watch and does have some things to offer. The scene about Thor's Hammer was great, and you can tell that the actors had fun making the scene. The Iron Man, Hulk fight was the highlight of the movie and the climax doesn't overstay it's welcome. The action is top notch and proves that Marvel still knows how to put together action scenes.

All in all, you will enjoy this movie. But you will also leave it slightly disappointing. The movie doesn't add much to the MCU, but it doesn't ruin what's already been established. It's a fun popcorn movie that you and your friends will enjoy, but ultimately you're going to notice that something was missing. 7/10.

It doesn't present anything particularly original in comparison to the first film, but this is awesome. Just watching this people fighting one more time is good enough. The special effects were really incredible, the action was just awesome, Ultron is an excellent villain and everything just looks fantastic. And also, there are many good jokes in this movie, it is actually a pretty funny movie based on little jokes about little things the characters do and say through the entire film. It's just really good.
The only unlikeable thing is what I already mentioned. It just presents the Avengers fighting one more time. Everything is spectacularly well done, but it isn't really very original.
You have to watch it, though.

Where it is awesome and interesting to see our favorite team of heroes back on the big screen, and in action, but here's where it falters. Ultron is not a threat at all. He is about as powerful as paper. The Avengers just rip through him with absolute ease. Also The Vision is just shoe horned in right at the end. They just seen to try and tell to many different stories, which make sense as there are so many of them in the film, but the way it's executed, it takes away from the entire experience. An example of this is the Black Widow and Bruce Banner romance, which just comes out of the blue, and just makes you think "who actually cares?" One last thing I really did not like were the casting choices for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Scarlet's costume wasn't even close to anything that she would possibly wear, neither of the actor's really look the part, and my gosh they really do not sound the part either.

It just seems like a stepping stone for other films in the franchise. I can already tell the Civil War film is going to be as big of a failure. One redeeming factor of the film is when Scarlet Witch uses her mind powers on Black Widow, and it uncovers her back story and how she became a spy. Other than that, this stepping stone in the Marvel Universe is slowly pointing to the demise and problems that are soon to come to the MCU unfortunately.

We all know these characters but what happened here is that we get to see them. Who they are and how they are when they’re not protecting/avenging something. The first movie was basically the meet-up, "the first day at school" but now they all know each other, they've been working together for some time and you can feel and see it in this movie. Age of Ultron goes deeper with the relationship between the Avengers, and it goes deeper into the characters’ personlities. Black Widow's back story is definitely the most interesting one, it gave her an emotional layer that she didn't really have. It made me feel like we finally got a glimpse of who she is deep down - who Barton knows her to be.

Speaking of Barton, he is in Age of Ultron what Hulk was in The Avengers. He kind of steal the show, he has some funny scenes, and through him Whedon addresses most of the criticism made to The Avengers and particularly to the ones about Hawkeye. It is almost like Clint Barton is pulling a Deadpool on us by breaking the fourth wall because he is very aware of how his character was treated in the first movie and how his weapon of choice might not be the best for a battle against robots. He’s maybe not addressing the audience directly but he might as well.

In contrast to Barton, Hulk was actually like I expected him to be in the first film, slightly tortured, complex, and not completely comfortable with what he is. I’ll admit it doesn't perfectly add up to the Hulk we’ve previously seen but I chucked it up to Banner having battle fatigue. As for his romance with Natasha, Widow made me buy into in once she explained why she liked him.

As vilains go, Ultron was a worthy one. He was smart, sarcastic, and has a child-like innocence in his ruthlessness. Some might like Loki a little bit more but to me it’s due to the fact that we’ve got to know Loki in a few films over the years, and it’s jealousy that fuels him something we can all relate to and that Ultron does not have. As for Baron Von Strucker was window dressing in the movie - not that I was expecting a lot more of him - his real purpose was to introduce the twins in the end-credit scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Whatever you may thing about their East Europeans accents Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were pretty cool. They’re powerful, they’re new, and at the same time you could feel them striving for more so they quite seamlessly joined the team. They were avengers from the beginning, they had something to avenge from the start.

One of the good things with Avengers: Age of Ultron is that from start to finish the story is easily followed and we can already see the ramification the events in the film will have but the interest stays intact.

Age of Ultron is definitely less Disney. It’s darker, more serious, and adult but children can obviously enjoy as well that what the comic relieves are for. What took it up a notch was the danger factor, there’s a death in the film - a real one I hope. @wornoutspines

It is hard for me to rate any Marvel movie this low as I grew up a comic book addict spending a lot of my hard earned money as a kid on comic books. Still found this one just a bit stale, the action is the only thing that kept me going! The humor and one liners were good at times, but still found it hard for the this one to get off the ground for me. Hopefully the next one will be accompanied with a better plot, and be a little more upbeat, and something a little fresher and not feel so much like a total retread!! Expand

It starts strong with awesome action. Especially a one shot that shows us all the Avengers doing their thing and working together, and for probably 20 to 30 minutes the film keeps giving us action and fun dialogue scenes between the heroes that was probably the best part about the first Avengers film and definitely this one too, even if the dialogue in this film is pretty bad.

Although after Ultron is set up, the film becomes pretty forgettable. They get to a safe place, and talk, and plan, and talk, and Hawkeye kisses his wife a couple million times. This goes on probably for an hour or so. It's alright for what it is since I like the Avengers interacting together, but the script doesn't really do anything with the characters themselves, other than maybe Hulk and Black Widow because they have that romance thing which was actually kinda cute. But none of the other characters are really developed. They're just there doing their thing and talking about how we need to do this and that to stop the evil little cheeky Ultron. The movie also has the twins from the credits scene in "Captain America Winter Soldier" and they were useless. No character development, didn't care about them in any way. They were just tossed in to the movie because I guess they had to do something with them. The movie also sets up a new character when there's only like 45 minutes left of the movie which was pretty weird and at the end clearly indicates that this character matters in the later films.

Third act is just action. I enjoyed it even though the whole film to that point had felt kind of inconsequential. They fight Ultron who was a pretty worthy foe for the film. He was funny and pretty interesting. Although I still wasn't feeling any big changes to the universe. If anything significant in the universe changed during the film, it wasn't told very clearly or in an interesting way. This film for the most part just felt like it was here to give us some cool moments for all the Avengers, but not really develop them that much. And at the end it obviously sets up a new movie. Not nearly as good as the first Avengers film, but Age of Ultron is enjoyable as a dumb action blockbuster that's loud and has attractive people doing big things in it.

Much better than Guardians of the Galaxy in my opinion. I'm not gonna use this review to compare the two but just know that I'm not totally inhuman. But back to Avengers, this movie had amazing writing and actors behind it which came together to make a goofy but badass movie. I'm really glad the movie introduced the character Scarlet Witch because it gave an opportunity to go into the Avengers' psyches and see their relative backstories which helped you to identify the characters more and give them a personality more than just beating up bad guys. That said however this opens up a couple moments that try too hard to make you feel bad for the characters and make no sense. Like, the addition of Hawkeye's family just to force a backstory on us instead of letting it flow naturally like the others. Also, if you hate random love interests like I do, Hulk and Black Widow are a thing now. No real buildup or anything they're just...in love because every movie ever needs a love interest. But seriously other than that I have no quarrels with this movie. See it if you haven't already but just be prepared for one or two things that might bother you. Expand

Avengers: Age Of Ultron was a fairly entertaining movie with big budget stars and had a fairly intricate storyline. I enjoyed it, even though I do not watch many marvel movies, I felt like it wasn't unique, it had been done before.

The Action was every super hero action movie, nothing that felt like it set itself aside from other movies. However and exception to this action was quicksilver, I felt like I hadn't seen that (quicksilver's) action style. It was unique not being able to see the man who saved many lives throughout the movie and because he moved so fast, you would track where he last was, looking for where he went.

Humour was something I hadn't expected but it was fairly funny, yet again nothing unique about it.

I felt like Ultron came and went to quickly, never exactly developing him as a character very well, which should have been key to making this movie more successful. His name is in the title, but from what I remember he is seen not very often throughout the storyline and the movie dragged on and on for a while.

I will say that he looks badass and Spader did a good job, but there's not much to him. The film, gets sometimes a bit convoluted and confusing with multiple plots and bad guys at the same time and there is a lot of shoehorned in scenes that don't fit at all with the movie just to set up the next MCU installments. It gets messy, boring sometimes with a lot of recycled elements, but overall it is a good movie, you will have fun with it and its worthy of the Marvel quality standard of the recent years. Expand

The comedy elements sometimes felt like it was trying too hard and a little cheap. It worked for Buffy, but that was a decade ago and a tv show.

I also still have a hard time with Hulk as a character. He can't be controlled and is dangerous, except when he needs to fight with the Avengers and then he is completely rational and able to follow directions. In the end, the action is fun, but the plot is forgettable.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The biggest problem this movie had is that Ultron was far from being very smart. In the start they made him look like a very intimidating machine, but in the end he was "just afraid" of everything, far from an artificial inteligence who could actually outsmart the avengers. Most of Ultron's intentions were just obvious, except only for the flying city, which in the end wasn't really surprising.
Also, this movie feels like a mess when compared to the first Avengers movie. The first Avengers had a good balance between each scene, and they also explored the capabilities of the main heros in a balanced way. In Age of Ultron, this balance is not there anymore. One thing that made me upset was the fight between hulk and Iron Man. Hulk speciality is being incredibly strong, yet he gets beaten by Iron Man with a bigger suit that was just there on his sleeve. This felt unjust for Hulk's character.

The movie wasn't terrible, but in the wake of hits like Guardians or Winter Soldier, it didn't quite hold up. Sure, there were some good sequences and snippy dialog (no spoilers, just that there are some good little gags), but it still feels like there weren't enough redeeming qualities in the somewhat scattered plot to make it a great film, or even a very good one. Since we know where the Marvel Universe is going with Civil War later on, it feels like Age of Ultron is entirely devoted to shaping character's individual feelings and motives for the next movie. I won't call it filler, but overall this isn't a great film in any light. Expand

The plot was a decent one but it was copied and pasted from the first one so I felt tired out by half way through. The cameos went well to start off with but by the end each character that had been in a Marvel movie within the cinematic universe felt shoehorned in by the end. Besides from that I would probably get it on DVD to watch it in the future with a fresh mind but for now it felt as good as Captain America: The First Avenger. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Avengers: Age of Ultron is a fine, sometimes boring movie that isn't as good as the original. The beginning was really boring even when it was trying to be cool about the scene in the snow. However, when the 2 hours went by, I began to feel like the movie was getting more like its predecessor and was learning its mistakes. I began to have a feeling towards the characters. There is a sad death at the end which was sad and that scene with hulk vs. iron man was incredible and funny when he kept on punching him on the head. Also, the scene with Thor's hammer is really funny. The acting is great, though I don't recommend seeing it in 3D. I don't really think there is a difference. Go see Mad Max: Fury Road if you haven't!!! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If Ultron is the "son" of Iron Man, he should have had, as in the comics: 1) flying power, jet propulsion, and he should have the ability to shoot deadly beams from his eyes and mouth. 3) His armor should have been at least as resistant as Iron Man's and Captain America shouldn't have been able to chop him to pieces with his shield. All of the above is valid for his army of surrogates. In the film, he was presented a feeble android. The script was in fact adapted loosely from the comic book. 1) Captain America takes his fellow Avengers to a SAFE PLACE. In the film, the safe place is Clint Barton's farm; in the comics, it's the Savage Land. In the film as in the comics, Ultron wants to destroy all human beings 3) In both the comics and the film, Ultron uses the Vision (Jarvis, in the film) to achieve his goal. My main point of criticism is the romance between the Black Widow and the Hulk. In order to make that plausible, Clint Barton has to present his family to the public and we discover that Natasha is his kid's "Aunt", so that gets rid of all former romance between the two. All that was pointless and a loss of time. The Black Widow should have tricked the Hulk to make him do whatever she intended him to do, just as she had tricked Loki the trickster, in the 1st film. That’s her job, after all. Without that, she is useless. Expand

With grand scenes of action, and also showing you the defects, falls, trauma from these heroes. Ultron know straight moving the film, despite losing his threat to go to the events, it is nevertheless a legitimate son of Tony Stark. This is probably my favorite movie of the MCU as it involves these egos, power, action, heart, tears and emotions, until all become a swirl, which can move in the film structure, but it is still epic. This being the 11th Marvel Studio film to date, the excitement and expectations are extremely high. Therefore, this is a film that without a doubt will break records, just like the first one did, and will have huge crowds lining up to see it. All that said this is a film that moviegoers will either leave the theater loving or hating.
Now lets talk about the movie itself. It feels like director Joss Whedon took the entire opening sequence straight out of a comic book. It was well choreographed, giving each character a shot of glory, and filled with great one-liners. The opening sequence alone was worth what I paid for the ticket. The opening focuses on the heroes hunting down the last Hydra base, following the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This sets the plot for the entire film, as Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has a vision of a dark future involving the death of The Avengers. After his dark vision he tries to convince Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) to help him build armor with an artificial intelligence named Ultron. Ultron was supposed to be a relief and a savior for planet earth, but it ended up being a disaster and a threat to society.
I like that the film portrays a lot of the individual character’s personal demons, showing their weaker and more human side. The audience learned about each character’s past a little more, which helped them understand the characters even better.
There were four main characters that stole the show. Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), being one of the best surprises of the entire movie, had some of the best lines of the film and some great character development to say the least. The Vision (Paul Bettany) was a great surprise as well, having great action scenes alongside great dialogue with Ultron. The third character Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), gave us some insight into her dark past, which allowed the audience to obtain more information about who she is and where she comes from. The fourth being Ultron (James Spader) was one of the best Marvel Studios villains since Loki (Tom Hiddleston). He had great dialogue and some pretty good action scenes against The Avengers. James Spader’s voice gave the character great depth and soul, making him a menacing but also humorous villain.
In conclusion, The Avengers: Age of Ultron was a good film worth watching on a big screen, but to my disappointment not what I had expected from them. It left me feeling unimpressed in contrast to my feelings about Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which was so well made and enthralling. Over all, despite my mixed feelings, Joss Whedon has still proved that he’s a talented director that can manage whatever task is put in front of him. So, props to Mr. Whedon.

Final Score: 7.9/10

Like the point of the Maximoff twins powers, the Loki´s scepter in Hydra and more. Von Strucker is just a villain that only is killed by Ultron. Ultron is a villain for the kids no like the comics. But if we just ignore that details, is a fun and thrilling movie. Expand

The movie starts off with a frenetic pace and welcomingly slows down in order to provide more depth to certain characters. In this sense, Age of Ultron improves on its predecessor as I found myself far more engaged in the characters both individually and as a group. Whilst most of the dialogue between these characters remains engaging, much of it seems out of place and takes away from the tension. The new characters however, are what make this potentially good film, great. With the additions of Andy Serkis' character, Scarlet Witch, and particularly Vision, the second instalment of the Avengers, despite a similarly cliched ending, provides a great movie going experience. No matter how much 'Avengers'/Marvel detractors go out of their way to suggest that those who legitimately like the 'Avengers' films and Marvel's output are wrong and invent ridiculous conspiracy theories without proof, this reviewer lovedNo matter how much 'Avengers'/Marvel detractors go out of their way to suggest that those who legitimately like the 'Avengers' films and Marvel's output are wrong and invent ridiculous conspiracy theories without proof, this reviewer loved 'Avengers Assemble' while acknowledging that it wasn't perfect.

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' is a solid sequel, though not as good as 'Assemble' and not without its flaws. There are a few longueurs in the pacing, as a result of a few overlong scenes that don't go very far (as admirable as it was to do more with Hawkeye's character, the farm scene did grind the film to a halt somewhat), parts that were not as developed as one would have liked or didn't add much to the film and some of the many characters are more interesting than others.

While one does admire that more was attempted to be done with Hawkeye, he still felt underwritten and not always necessary. Ultron, despite a cool appearance and chilling voice work from James Spader, is an underdeveloped, not very interesting and one-dimensional villain and doesn't pose enough of a threat. And while most of the comedy is funny and witty, there are moments that jar too much when the scene is serious or intense and it spoils the mood.

However, 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' looks fantastic, very slickly shot and edited with sumptuous and atmospheric set and costume design and quite spectacular special effects. The music avoids being overbearing or over-bombastic, as well as avoiding being too quirky or one-note. Joss Whedon ensures that the fun and tension rarely slips and that a good deal of the characterisation is interesting, visually and stylistically there is nothing to fault here.

Furthermore, the film is wittily, cleverly and intelligently scripted with a good deal of the tonal shifts handled well with only some jarring humour disappointing. While not perfect in execution, the story is absorbing, there are plenty of fun moments, thrillingly choreographed and executed action scenes (especially the earth-shattering climax) and while it could have been developed a little more and could have been less forced when introduced Hulk and Black Widow's relationship is given admirably sensitive treatment here.

The film's characters are mostly interesting and engaging, not complex but that wasn't expected. The acting is impeccable, Robert Downey Jnr, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans really excel in roles tailor made for them, while Scarlett Johansson gives a fearless intensity to Black Widow and Mark Ruffalo is by far the best and most layered live-action Hulk. As said, James Spader is chilling as the voice of Ultron, and one does wish that more was done with the character, Paul Bettany and Samuel L. Jackson are great value and Aaron Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen play the newcomer roles with plenty of fire. Jeremy Renner does what he can.

Overall, a solid sequel if not as good as 'Avengers Assemble'. 7/10 Bethany Cox

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Even though this movie is long, 141 minutes, it feels short and cut. I would have rather watched a longer version of the film, a lot of people have hinted at a directors cut that will probably not be released. The reason behind this are the individual scenes and interactions, especially at the party at the Avengers Tower. I would have loved to have seen a more coherent interaction of the characters.
The movie is a solid action film.
The biggest missed opportunity in this film was Ultron. He wasn't menacing, he was based on Tony Stark, i.e. the humour. This humour wasn't intimidating, instead it made one warm up to the character and feel comfortable with his evil plans. I believe that making a extremely cold Ultron would have truly made this movie epic. An Ultron that really scares The Avengers.
Sad to see Joss Whedon leaving the MCU.

This is an alright movie as movies go. It is pretty good as Marvel movies go. I have heard grumbling, but it’s mostly nerds talking about things that can’t possibly matter or people looking to pick a fight with some low-hanging fruit. Mostly what was disappointing was that the real conflict was the same as the first Avengers movie (will the Avengers assemble? Answer: yes) which was a letdown because the opening makes it seem like the writers have finally moved on and that we can stop rehashing the plotline that is already destined for rehashing in Civil War. For a moment Whedon makes it seem like this tired emotional territory will be made anew by Hawkeye stepping forward as the hearth of the team but then he just remains in the role of underutilized acting talent while the camera lingers on him without explanation. Also, remember when Tony Stark died for a second in the first Avengers and even though you knew his contract said he had to be fine you still cared because it completed the only interesting character arc in the Marvel movies wherein a guy with no real powers and crippling narcissism changes from being a person to a Jesus? Verily he has risen, which is fine because there’s a whole other sequel where the event leaves him psychologically damaged and he must continue to evolve. You will not have that experience watching anyone die or not die in this movie. Expand

Age of Ultron is a good movie but not as good as the first Avengers' movie. Isn't that epic and the story isn't as good as other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.

A mindless summer action movie, lots of fighting and special effects. The character I enjoyed the most was the "bad" guy. The subplot, that we can be our own worst enemy, wasn't addressed enough.

I found it incredibly underwhelming. Although, i enjoyed this film more, it was nothing more than decent. There were some really funny moments, better than the first. The villain of Ultron was more badass and had way more of a sense of threat and scare than Loki, but still Ultron was not that great. The action scenes were cool, until they went on for too long. Especially the final confrontation. Overall it was a decent movie, that could have been much more, the potential was there. Expand

While not as good as the first one, this still remains a solid sequel.
