I liked the first Avengers film but I didn't think it was that great and this film while it's not a complete failure has a lot of problems. Ultron I actually think was a great villain as he is a reflection of Tony Stark in a way but the movie just felt so flat and bland. The movie is also just so forgettable which is a shame as it is an Avengers movie. The action was cool but not great. I thought the final battle was cool though but overall it is a bittersweet movie. Not close to the first one but a good movie to see if you want to kill some time. Acting was not so great and was predictable. Was not satisfied when I left the movie.

Unfortunately, while it tastes good at the time it doesn’t have much lasting appeal. The film throws so much at the audience in regards to action, characters, and story that it is too much to take in causing everything to cancel everything out and create a forgettable film. I’m not saying the Avengers didn’t have moments the parts of the film where it slowed down and had character moments and had external conflict the film was enjoyable; but all that is lost under the excessive story and action. Nothing is given time to sink in because we need to move on to the next big thing. While I was entertained by the film it lacks, any rewatch value, lasting appeal, or anything that could stick in my head. By trying to do so much The Avengers Age of Ultron winds up so forgettable. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a decent movie but definitely not great unless you're a massive Marvel fan. Lots of fighting and rather disappointing story.

My main complains:
The villain - AI that was supposed to protect humans but decides that in order to do that he needs to start an apocalypse - how original.

Iron Man has some special suit that he keeps on the orbit. He uses it to fight Hulk but doesn't bother with it in the final fight.

Vibranium - the same material that was used for Captain America's shield. Turns out there is still a bunch of that metal on earth. More than that, Iron Man actually knows where to get that material, but he never bothered to make a suit out of vibranium. Really?

The friendly AI/cyborg they created. He can fly, shoot some beams and carry Thor's hammer, but nobody bothers to explain how he got these powers.

I enjoyed some of the back stories of the characters, fighting scenes were pretty cool but that's it. So far both Avengers 1 and 2 are the movies where the main concept is "Lets put all those superheroes together and make them fight against some evil, people will love that!"

Come on, at least make a decent story or proper enemies rather than a bunch of robots.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go horribly wrong and it's up to the Avengers to stop the evil Ultron from enacting his terrible plans.

The opening action scene shows our heroes taking out a HYDRA base to recover Loki's sceptre. The reason i mention this scene is because it sets the style for what's to come. Visually this fast paced cg single shot felt messy and more comparable to a video game cut scene rather than a 250 million dollar Hollywood blockbuster. Later the Hulk and Iron Man's Hulkbuster cause city damage of 9/11 proportions, and not much discussion about the consequences. Also with the camera being so close to the lightning quick action, it was difficult to know what was happening with bodies and debris flying everywhere. The third act is centred around a city ripped from the Earth, with flying battles between Ultron's minions, Iron Man and S.H.I.E.L.D's hellicarrier (don't ask me where that came from after the events of Winter Soldier)

The character development in Age of Ultron feels inconsistent with the rest of the franchise. The events of Iron Man 3 and Winter Soldier seem to have been brushed aside as Tony Stark and Captain America look and sound better than ever, no traces of the doubt and confusion they went through. We spend some time with Ulysses Klaw in South Africa but it's all too short. Newcomers Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver debut with accents and all. The brother's death is certainly emotional but fell flat considering Aaron Taylor-Johnson didn't grab my attention during his screen time. Paul Bettany's Vision is introduced late but to great effect, his power and abilities matching those of his peers.

The more interesting moments of the film was an attempt at giving some emotion and story to characters like Hawkeye and Black Widow, but the latter's romance with the Bruce Banner comes out of nowhere and feels rushed. Some hints at what's to come in Civil War are placed around the film that are absorbing, but aren't fleshed out despite over 2 and a half hours runtime. Any animosity we witness between Stark and Cap is pretty much ignored by the end.

Don't worry, there are plenty of quips and explosions for people who came for quips and explosions. Even James Spader's Ultron (at times menacing and intriguing as a robot planning to destroy humanity) is presented as a wisecracking (that's right, wisecracking) sentinel due to being born from Tony Stark's ambitions. Tense scenes are oddly interrupted with typical Whedon humour that begins to feel tiresome. The party scene early on is ideal for all that, and i enjoyed the banter among God like superheroes trying to be social.

Now even though i had a good time in a turn-my-brain-off kind of way, and nothing felt horrible or insulting like oh i don't know cough Iron Man 3 cough, the whole experience was more going through the motions rather than the spectacle i hoped for. It's still popcorn fun but predictable. Rather than moving forward, Age of Ultron feels like Marvel saying, "Nah, i'm ok here, thanks". With Joss Whedon stepping down due to his self confessed exhaustion and the Russo Brothers taking over for Infinity War, the time is right for change, because Marvel's cinematic universe shows signs of going stale.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Not a bad movie at all, but probably my least favorite out of all of the marvel franchise. Simply put, way too rushed and way too many plot points, characters and topics covered. The movie never feels like it has a single moment to breathe. Because of this nothing is given the proper attention and time all of it both needs and deserves.

The twins' backstory and motivation? Crammed in super quick. Ultron? Introduced super quick, really should have had more screen time, and then is killed off at the end (I'm really getting sick of Marvel making its villains one-note and killing them off). Thor's side trip vision pool acid trip? Wow...that was very clunky and out of place (I know Whedon was forced to include it, but still, very clunky). Nick Fury just shows up the f**k out of nowhere halfway through. The gem stone stuff I know is important to the Infinity War coming soon, but it's just getting weird and boring and are acting like clunky plot devices/deus ex machinas. And the story's plot just seems to jump from point to point in clunky connection and bad (rushed) exposition (for example Jarvis's hacking of Ultron to prevent the nuclear codes and that scientist quickly introduced just to serve as a plot point later).

This thing really needed a good edit to slash off a couple subplots and characters and focus/spend more time on the really good ideas it had. The talent is all here, but it's just impossible for them to juggle as much as they're trying to here while maintaining the level of quality the smaller more focused single hero Marvel stories do.

Being the sequel to the biggest superhero movie of all time is not an easy thing to be. Meeting the expectations and demands of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, of dedicated fans, and the general movie-going public is no easy task.

In an ambitious effort to top the previous Avengers movie, Joss Whedon packed around 5 different big-budget action sequences in Age of Ultron. The blockbuster action felt epic in the trailers and promos, but somehow lackluster in the actual movie (probably because we are bombarded with too much of it). Watching this superhero extravaganza, I felt that the filming style was gimmicky (camera turning around 360 to show way too many things going on at once).

Even with its 2 and a half hour run time, AoU has a rushed pace, and not enough time is given to the characters and audience to dwell on what is going on. There’s so much ground to cover in this sequel that the movie struggles to find room. The movie glosses over the Scarlet Witch-induced hallucinations that the Avengers suffer, the “Infinity Well” (where Thor learns of setup for Phase 3 and the Infinity War), and the fact that SHIElD is back, but with no mention of the rival factions within it (shown on Agents Of SHIELD).

Everything and nothing is at stake in AoU. After all, it’s obvious going into the theater that only one or two of our heroes will die--because most of the Avengers have more movies that they’re contracted to star in. Plus, Disney benefits far too much because of the MCU to kill off a money-making character. Knowing this, what is the point of making movies where the entire planet is in danger, yet not a single civilian gets killed on-screen and almost none of the Avengers are ever in real jeopardy? The comedic timing of the film is also off, as too many jokes and quips are made at inappropriate times, and this contributes to a lack of tension in the movie.

None of the acting is noteworthy or remarkable, but the conflict of ideologies between Tony and Cap was interesting to me and a natural progression of their characters (also setting up the two for Captain America 3: Civil War). I appreciated the camaraderie that the Avengers had in the Avengers Tower party scene, as it humanizes Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. I personally didn’t like the romantic relationship between Bruce and Natasha--none of the previous films, including this one, set them up as a couple--and yet they’re talking about abandoning the team and running away together after defeating Ultron?

Bruce’s inner demons are starting to feel tedious to watch, especially in the way it was handled. *SPOILER ALERT* He very unceremoniously leaves the team in a quinjet. And Natasha has now flirted (or at least had moments of romantic playfulness) with Tony, Cap, Hawkeye, and the Hulk. That seems kind of insulting to her character. (However, I do like that AoU delved into Black Widow’s dark past.) Hawkeye gets some love, but I still don’t think it was enough.

*SPOILER ALERT* Of all the characters to kill off, the end of a recently introduced and supporting character is somewhat disappointing--especially how it was handled. We barely got time to be introduced to Quicksilver, but he is killed anyway. His final words are “Bet you didn’t see that coming”, but many had already predicted his death. (Was Quicksilver killed simply for shock effect, or because his character was too weak to compete against the one from X: Men DOFP?) The Vision, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch are all undeveloped (Scarlet Witch feels way too much like Carrie; from the horror movie).

Ultron is “not as scary as the Winter Soldier, or as interesting and entertaining as Loki, or as ominous as hyper-intelligent Ava from Ex Machina.” He doesn’t do anything actually useful with all of the power he supposedly has (no hacking, no using nukes?). AoU’s Ultron is a far cry from the comics, where he’s apparently a “hyper-intelligent and adaptable being”. The father son relationship between Stark and Ultron that could have been, isn’t. “We aren’t given any time for him and Stark to form a relationship that could later turn to hatred. There is never that process that allows us to accept Ultron first as Stark’s ‘child’ and then as his antagonist.” Considering the love-hate relationship between Hank Pym and Ultron is a key part of his character in the comics (which I haven’t read but know enough about), AoU is a letdown in that regard. (And the way he is defeated is pretty lame.)
Age of Ultron could've have definitely been a much better movie. Instead of leaving people wanting more, Joss Whedon has left most wanting less. The action gets too thick and makes the movie feel bloated; too many one-liners are said at impromptu times. Cap and Iron Man are the most interesting characters, but the rest fall flat. Whedon "simply has too many balls to keep in the air for one movie—even a two-and-a-half-hour one.” In interviews, Whedon has said that he feels burned out by his responsibilities in the MCU. Him leaving the property is probably the best for all of us.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you just want to see super hero's punch robots and occasionally make a funny remark or learn about Hawkeye's wife and kids, then this is the movie for you. The story was lacking and filled with plot holes. The flashbacks seemed out of place and at one point Thor randomly goes off on his own to explore a magic cave and go for a swim. The Avenger's are never in any real danger and the scenes of them evacuating the city are boring. Does anyone really care that Hawkeye has a family? All of that being said, the action scenes were great, I think the fight between Iron Man and the Hulk was the highlight of the movie. The first Avengers was superior. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A very disappointing sequel, so many things wrong with Disney's newest movie, so many characters with no time spent actually developing them, many pointless scenes setting up the next solo movies they'll be pushing out. Ultron poses no physical threat to the heroes at all, the only damage done to them comes in the form of the Scarlet Witch. Tony creates the evil AI villain Ultron, so you'd think he'd have learned his lesson, nope, his willing to do it all over again with the Vision, with no notion of how it could have went, Vision could have ended up being 10 times worse. The genius Ultron has the ability to have limitless copies of himself but brings every single copy to the final fight, you'd think he'd have multiple plans going simultaneously having an ability like that, or at the very least plan for defeat & stash a few copies elsewhere. Was it good? Absolutely. Was it great? If you hadn't seen the first one - maybe. Otherwise it was largely interchangeable: Aliens swapped out for robots, Loki swapped out for Ultron, humanity threatened, heroes fight each other, etc.

Now they added a couple new characters, but left at least one very key character out. The "Marvel Universe" includes the fairly popular Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., led by Agent Coulson. Yet Phil is a no-show for Ultron. He played a key role in the first Avengers and is the lead character in Agents, yet there is not even a whisper about him in this latest outing.

Sorry, but he was perhaps the most relatable character in the first movie and adding a family background to superheroes doesn't change that. Why have a Universe that can't integrate even the most simple, yet germane characters? Moreover, why have this major movie/Universe tie with a struggling TV series (that still carries the Marvel brand) and then fail to actually include even a frayed thread of that tie? It almost seems they are writing off the TV series (and a pretty big character) on purpose. Not good for the 4-7 million viewers that have stuck with that series through thick and thin.

Bottom line: The first Avengers was great, the second largely a rewashed version of the first. We want our Universe to EXPAND, not simply have a dozen different storylines that take place at the same time on the same planet - yet never actually meet. Ultron is a good movie, but give me multiple episodes with Daredevil or even Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. any day. I want a relationship - not another one-night stand with the same person wearing a different wig.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I suppose I should start this with saying that the Avengers movies never clicked with me. It's not that I thought they were bad, I just never saw what made them so huge to others. So I don't think I would have been a fan anyway, but considering previous Marvel movies this one fell short in many ways. The biggest problem is that the movie is all action, little story or character development.

Maybe this would have been better as a 3+ hour monster, with more time, more focus on the characters their decisions would have felt more real. There are two things that bugged me the most:

1) Hulk and Black Widow romance. It just comes completely out of nowhere. If it would have ended with Black Widow and Hulk running away at the end then the plot line would have had some weight, but as it is I think it will all be forgotten in the next movies and made pointless.

2) The Twins turn good moment. I can understand them turning against Ultron. But they spent half of their lives wanting to kill Tony Stark. They tried to tear the Avengers apart, all the damage Hulk did could really be laid at Scarlet Witch's feet. After all that they just easily accept her?

With more character time all these problems could have been solved (perhaps) but as it is the movie feels rushed.

With that said I could still see many people giving it a higher score as it does still have that Marvel humor and plenty of cool scenes to enjoy. For me the negatives drag it down.

No vais a encontrar nada. Solamente el mismo film de siempre. Ni una escena Postcreditos interesante, salvo para el Fanboy de turno que dirá solo maravillas, el resto... bueh, entretenida y ya.

The writing is unimpressive but does keep the characters likeable, but that may be due to the great acting from the whole cast. Ultron is a great villain but is never developed enough, so he never reaches his full potential. The action can be great but just feels like any blockbuster out there, and never fully exceeds them in that department.

Overall a complete let down on the film, that is sure to go down in score after the hype has died down. Still has some good moments that do bring the score up, but is so uneven that the highest score I can give this film is a 6.

Despite several moments of cheesy humor provided by a scrambling cast of vaudevillians and a few moments of genuine magic, this film never feels particularly super or heroic. It's hard to get invested in a movie about the possible extinction of humanity, when the human characters focus most of their energy on quips and insult humor. This is like the worlds largest, longest, loudest episode of The Big Bang Theory. The only thing missing is the overbearing laugh track, which was sadly not provided by the audience I sat with.

I would recommend bringing along some aspirin, which you might need unless this movie does its intended job of numbing you to core. I left the theater with a headache and the sinking feeling that Disney has once again corrupted powerful mythology into something completely devoid of meaning or cultural import.

It`s one thing to make movies where you have a solid back story, like Daredevil, Wolverine or Spiderman, even though that is apparently hard too. Even X-Men worked because there was a story there to build off of. It`s quite another to make movies about this bad comic book which only exists because six year olds in the 1970s wanted to "see all the superheroes together!". But there`s no story to work with here. Big threat, must gang up to deal with it. Right, that`s the script done folks! Now for some special effects to cover up that there`s no story! The Avengers is the only Marvel prospect I can think of that`s even worse than Fantastic Four.
But it isn`t the fault of the director. At least not entirely. There literally is no story to work with. I have no idea what made them think they could make more than one movie out of this nonsense. The first one was passable because it focused on Captain America a lot, who does have a decent story to work with. But without that focus this movie is just lame. Thor`s Hammer comic relief is real!

I can`t wait for Antman.....

ActingApart from the good fight scenes filled with jam-packed action and trill, along with the pretty good visuals, there is nothing much to get out of the film, considering how much expectations it put on me after seeing the first Avengers. Acting in general was pretty stale, the storyline was rushed and thrown at your face and the film did not give you time to digest the storyline, leaving you kind of at a lost, the character development was weak and the film to me kind off seem to drag on forever. I'm not saying I hate the second Avengers movie (I would give the movie a thumbs up if you are in for the action), but I'm just not feeling it. I know the movie was a action movie, but it has to be one of the shallowest marvel movies I have seen in a long time, the First Hulk movie, may have been a good comparison. the heavy was pretty uninspiring the script was down right corny to me. The movie, just never pulled me in, thru the action or the acting. Not to mention this movie was borderline rated G, definitely made for people under the age of 10 years old I am afraid. This movie was made more for children and less for adults, borderline Disney movie. Nothing close to the last X-men, movie etc. Very carebearish movie.

good to take the kids to, but if your an adult and even a fan of the Avengers, comics, don't have great expectation, lower your standards and it will be a nice waste of time.
Since my kids will be adults by the time the next Avengers, comes out this will be my last avengers movie I goto the theater to see.

Disappointing. Very disappointing. There are many flaws to this film.

The narrative is something to behold. They had the ability to make it so interesting but they chose to force the plot instead of building it up as a result of the previous films. Where in the Avengers you could tell that it was the culmination of the phase 1 Marvel films, this film tries and fails to set itself up because there is no progression from the Phase 2 films. Everything in this film felt rushed. There is absolutely no reason for Ultron to be in the film, he exists purely as a generic villain for the team to fight. I feel as if they wasted the potential for the Ultron story line. I won't go into details because I don't want to spoil anything but all I can say was that the pacing and story did not suspend my belief enough to think that the events of the film could actually happen.

The action is amazing as always and the effects are spot on but compared to the first movie or ANY movie from the 2nd phase (even Thor 2), this movie just doesn't live up to the name. It just seems rushed to be honest and that the only reason for this film to exist is to serve as a bridge to phase 3.This is a 2nd film in a series so I hope that the 3rd is WAY better.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. ***************************UPDATED REVIEW - SCORE CHANGE FROM 5 TO 6***********************

The film opens with the Avengers conducting an impeccably choreographed raid on a remote, snowy, forested H.Y.D.R.A stronghold, in the fictional Eastern European nation of Sokovia. We see Hawkeye firing arrows from the back of Jeep while Black Widow drives; Captain America motorbiking through the forest while Ironman flies; Thor swinging his hammer while the Hulk swings his fists; all this action finally culminating in beautifully shot moment when all the Avengers simultaneously exit their respective battles and attack as one - a metaphor for harmony that this group has built amongst themselves since the first film.

However, it will not last. We quickly learn that the spectre of another alien invasion has been plaguing Tony Stark; he believes humanity will be eradicated if there is to be another hostile extraterrestrial incursion. These events are ultimately what lead to his creation Ultron - a global defence program gone horribly wrong. Within moment's of being created, Ultron decides that the best way of keeping the planet safe is by destroying all human life.

This is where the movie's quality begins to decline. Ultron never truly impresses, as his inability to kill off or critically injure any of the six main Avengers diminishes his credibility as a formidable villain - as the writers would have us believe. Black Widow even going the entire film without so much as a scar on her face. Moreover, it reduces the action sequences into a tedium of repetitive and pointless, computer generated violence, used only to satisfy the requirements of the annual summer blockbuster. This is particularly pronounced during a scene in the movie whereby Ultron has captured Black Widow (Scarlet Johannsson) a.k.a Natasha Romanoff. Rather than killing her off - as would be expected of a being whose self-declared purpose is to eradicate humanity (Avengers included) - instead he details to her, with the glibness that has become the central motif of this film, his evil plan to defeat the Avengers and end humanity - can it get any more cliched?

Between the Hulk smashing up Johannesburg and Captain America battling on runaway trains, the movie makes feeble attempts to develop its characters. We learn that Hawkeye is family man by day and one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes by night. Black Widow is now attracted to Bruce Banner in a relationship that feels forced and completely out of place. Oh, and Captain America has reverted to his pre-Winter Soldier self. Never do we get the impression that there's more to these characters than what we've witnessed in the past dozen or so films. How did Romanoff's past influence who she is today? How is Cap dealing with the events of The Winter Soldier? Is there much more to Stark than quippy one-liners and superficial charm? Banner at least tries to convey to us his inner war with the Hulk but Thor however, disappears for almost half the movie, using the time (sort of) to set the stage for 2017's Thor:Ragnarok.

Cast your mind back to 2012's The Avengers. What made that film such a success was getting to see all these explosive personalities clash for the first time on the big screen. At this point in the MCU, we're all familiar with the personality traits of these characters on the surface, and viewers -
having slogged through a dozen or so films of seeing them wreak havoc on a city-wide scale - will be asking for more out of these characters rather than another exhibition of their talents for destruction. However, to the film's peril, Whedon has preferred to avoid the deeper and darker sides of these characters - that battling a genocidal A.I would necessarily reveal - and instead opts to showcase their skill at delivering quippy one-liners and half-hearted philosophical musings.

Ultimately, the forced, disjointed nature of the film, along with the half-hearted involvement of all the characters (heroes and villains alike) are what make this movie feel like an irrelevant, sub-standard film.

Tl;dr: Movie is a rehash of what we've already seen from the MCU. It would have received a higher rating if wasn't as underdeveloped story-wise and character-wise. Relatively uninvolved characters; overly-witty dialogue; massive CG battles. If you don't mind pizza for dinner two nights in a row, then you'll likely love this film.

Here we are really near to the "Phase 3" of Marvel movies that leads to Infinity War in 2018 and 2019

I have to say that i really love the first Avenger movie because not only it's fun but it's also fill with amazing characters.

With that said though Avengers 2 is not like that , actually it's worse than the first Avengers.

Why ? because almost everything in this sequel is just exactly the same , the plot , the conflict or the characters , yes it's still fun popcorn movie to watch with great action scene BUT right now we are in the "Avengers 2" we should have more than just great action scene or mediocre characters or super cliché conflict.

and The worst part of the movie itself is it Villain "Ultron" he is just terrible trying so hard to be this super bad guy but not only he's super cliché but the movie just hype him to be this bad-ass character too much when what we saw now is that he's just another bad guy that just complain about everything and doing nothing , he could possibly be okay in stand-alone movie like Iron Man 4 but not in the Avengers , This is not even count the fact that Ultron in comic is actually really really powerful character while in the movie he fells boring and lackluster.

Overall Avengers: Age of Ultron fells mediocre at best everything is just exactly the same and sometimes even worse than the first Avengers or even Captain American: Winter Soldier a lot of thing fells like Marvel just keeping good stuff out of us too much for this "Infinity War" movies than will hit us in 2018 that is like 3 years from now and if this happen again and again i will probably be bored before this Infinity War movie happen.

The first one had its issues, but at least it was novel; we hadn't seen anything like it. Age of Ultron throws a lot of stuff at you, but it all feels regurgitated from the first one, and overly commercialized, with product placements galore. Joss Whedon's gone corporate.

There are so many characters that the few attempts at development aren't successful. The camp of it, the fake-looking CGI and the very comic book-y costumes, just doesn't play that well any more. And guess what, there are some more MacGuffins coming!

The titular villain never really leaves a mark, simply for screen time issues. Not that James Spader isn't entertaining, but if you want a real exploration of AI, check out Ex Machina. This movie tries to leverage the idea, but there isn't enough substance there. There are also a lot of people doing fake Russian accents at this point, which is not good.

On the positive side, every now and then there's a laugh line, and the setup for a civil war between the superheroes suggests that maybe future movies will have some more intrigue. Who are you rooting for? This one's mostly just CGI battles. It feels like filler. For a movie that cost almost $300 million, that isn't good enough.

Also, one female character is briefly captured and spends approximately five minutes of screen time not kicking ass, and a female and male character talk equally about how they want to have children and can't, so therefore this movie is a misogynistic rant from noted misogynist Joss Whedon, and if you watch it Marvel Studios will take away women's right to vote and institute mandatory sexual slavery of all women at every Marvel-watching household in the world. Or not.
(No, seriously, some people are attacking this movie because of these minor inoffensive plot points. Look it up.)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a fan of Marvel, i was waiting for this new release and although it wasn't bad, it was kind of a disappointment compared to the first one. I saw it in IMAX for the first time and it's a great experience but the 3D is unecessary...First of all, a honorary mention to the brilliant voice of James Spader who actually made me believe that Ultron was real, he was the perfect choice but unfortunately the problem is that this villain simply doesn't have personality and his plans were confusing that no one really understand why he was doing that, a total flop! Even if they add new characters, there was no development at all. The movie had great humor without being forced and visually is brilliant with fantastic action scenes but the whole thing is just another copy from the first one...I hated the romance between Black Widow and Banner, it was so childish and painful to watch. The addition of Hawkeye's family was nothing special, total waste of time, it just seems pointless. They really needed to cut some scenes because it were super boring especially those in the farm...The Twins were fine, but the typical "the villain is horrible so lets be good" is already wasted. About the cast, Downey Jr. doing his thing, already annoys me, Stark's arrogance it was cool at the beggining but now it's just stupid. Evans was ok, nothing new and Hemsworth's Thor was just to give some comic relief. Bettany's Vision seems really good, probably the thing that i got most excited about it. Just like i said, Johansson and Ruffalo were completly ruined by that ridiculous "chemistry"...And i hope to see more of Jackson's Nick Fury because everytime he appears, he steals the show. I think this is probably one of the worst movies by Marvel and in my opinion only shows us that Whedon doesn't have nothing new to give us, that's why they already replaced him for the next Avengers... Not a great movie. If you really like Marvel and The Avengers, then yes, you should see it. It's visually pleasing, it has good fight scenes, it has character development, and it has tech. Lots and lots of tech.

These things were good to a lot of people, including me, but I think that while there was a significant amount of character development, it lacked a lot of internal development and was mainly focused on development of the relationships of the characters.

It wasn't linear, which is a good thing in most cases, but it also seemed a bit random. Now they're in Europe! Now they're in the US! Now they're on a farm!

I did like the development of Jarvis, but other than that, not a spectacular movie. They drew it out for too long; I feel they could have said a lot of things in a shorter time frame. I definitely prefer the first one.

I wanted to like this movie, honestly. But Marvel has become too big for its own good.
In a few years, this will be the movie people point to when they say 'this is where it took a nose dive".
Like Amazing Spider-man 2, there are too many characters and too much back-story that the director/writer tried to cram into here. What could have been a good development story for the main cast turned into a muddled affair of branched sequel set-ups for future movies.
That's all Marvel has become honestly. The character development happens in the stand alone movies for good reason - they are the only focus.
Maybe instead of messing with TV-like stories and cameos, Marvel should focus on character development only with one character at a time. This one could have been about Iron Man only, but instead it turned into multiple characters having flashbacks/flash forwards that it's hard to keep straight.
Honestly I hope Marvel universe gets back to the normal stuff, like developing one character at a time.
Also, same formula here for the first Avengers (bad guy steals something, beats the good guys once, twice, and the third time the good guys win!), although they added two characters to help the bad guy, then turn tail once they realize the motive.
In summary, worth a rent to keep the story straight for later movies (and the expanded Marvel universe), but not worth the theater screening. Skip it and wait for DVD. See Mad Max instead.

This particular installment was the most CG action porn I've seen in quite some time. It was just so obvious that so much of this was done at green-screen, I'm not really sure the stars earned their pay! Seriously, I think all they had to do was run, jump, and roll a few times while the CG artists created all the mayhem around them. They're the ones that should be walking away with millions. My other complaint is just with the DNA of the franchise itself, all the snarky remarks from Stark, and the little bits and quips from the others just cheapens the gravity of the situation. Similarly, with the need to save/evacuate that whole city. Is there something in the comic book domain that says the Innocent Public must be preserved at all costs?! This may have been laudable in the '40s/'50s but in this Age of Terrorism we KNOW this to be different and it just wreaks of quaint naivety which again cheapens the overall experience. I expect far more plausibility from a film with a nine-digit budget. So, good film, though far from great. Expand

The action scenes and effects are top notch, and the characters are all still competently written...but it does not add up to a thrilling movie. Sure, some individual scenes are exciting but the movie drags. The plot is extremely predictable, which is of course true of nearly all superhero movies, but the story doesn't even engage in the moment. Talky scenes are added in which do nothing to enhance the story and end up feeling like mere time wasters. It did start out well, and did entertain me for a good deal of its running time so I can't say it was bad... but the finale is the same old, same old. You never feel like any of the characters are in danger and none of it is as fun as it should have been. A big comedown from the exciting first Avengers movie. Expand

As much as I am an Avenger's Fan I was a bit taken aback. The concept is interesting, the action is breath taking, yet I continuously feel I missed something and that feeling was there till the end.
The fellow mates of Tony Stark appear to be lost and unless someone wrangles them up for some action they appear more than misplaced at times.
The usual cohesion and teamwork of the cast that made Marvel so phenomenal just isn't there.
James Spader as a 'robot' just didn't do it for me. I am sorry. (and I love James Spader)
I am sure Marvel could have come up with a better story and if this movie is not the preparation for the next one, I could surmise that we all seen Marvel's prime time and expect more nose dives in the future.
Yet, I keep my hopes up high and consider this one a small forgivable error (or misstep) and wait impatiently for the next spectacle.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first half was really good, but, then, everything fell apart. I'm not quite doing this in order, but there's one huge, huge problem. I call him Marvel Superman, but I don't know who the red guy is that was created out of Ultron/Jarvis. That was extremely confusing, but more importantly, THERE IS A REASON HE'S CALLED MARVEL SUPERMAN. IT'S BASICALLY A COPY OF SUPERMAN, AND THEY DON'T HAVE THAT RIGHT, AS DC, THEIR RIVAL, MADE SUPERMAN. HE LOOKS LIKE SUPERMAN, WITH HIS CAPE, A BLUE BODY, RED AROUND, ETC. HE IS ALSO SUPPOSEDLY ONE OF THE STRONGEST THINGS OUT THERE, AND HE'S KIND OF IMMORTAL. THAT'S SUPERMAN. THEN, TO CONFIRM MY SUSPICIONS, HE HAS FRIGGIN' LASER VISION. Ignoring copyright issues, I'm very, very confused by what happened. It's showing one city being destroyed, yet it says billions are dying. There are other problems than confusion, but before I end with confusion, WHAT IS ULTRON? 2 of the villains turn to the heroes, which is, in my opinion, a terrible idea, and one of them dies in the stupidest way. I don't remember his name, but at least the movie actually said it, but I call him Marvel Flash. Because he's kind of the same thing, but not as close as Marvel Superman, fortunately. Either way, he runs in the way of bullets heading for a little boy and... I think it was Hawkeye. PROBLEM, he could easily push them out of the way with his speed! Then, the ending sucked. The Avengers were supposed to separate, and they really should've, but instead ALL of the good Avengers are out (Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America (I think))! They make this crappy ending to make another movie. It was still a 6 after all of this crap, including an unnecessary and weird romance between Black Widow and Hulk, taking over 2 hours, because the premise was amazing. It started off as probably one of the best movies ever, but then it completely collapsed. I'm disappointed. I didn't expect it to be as good as the first, but at the very least, decent. Expand

This film is nowhere near bad but not close to amazing. The great character moments, the humor and charm, the big crazy action sequences are all amazing. The film's plot has an interesting premise but it doesn't do much with it. The darker tone it was intended to have is thrown out the window and even though Ultron was a very likable villain, but the plot was very stereotypical and lacked any real depth. There is way too much going on with many different sub plots and some random romance that comes out of nowhere is thrown in your face. The film drags on drastically long as well. Overall a lot of mixed feeling. A lot of good and a lot of bad. I recommend watching it however it's definitely a blast to watch. Expand

Hear me out. I’d take this advice before diving in.

You fanboys need to apply some Bengay to your anal cavities, like, a fistful. Many of you, in spite of pleading levelheadedness, will still be butt hurt by the ghastly, blaspheming I am about to commit on your figurehead God of blockbuster entertainment and I wouldn’t want your inflamed buttocks to blossom into a full on hemorrhoidal ****

I say this because I care.

Age of Ultron is a mess. It’s a blockbuster that confounds, feeling simultaneously bloated and fatally undernourished. If anything, it serves as a strong testament to an ongoing and fatally regressive refusal to capitalize on the massive emotional invest a good majority of the public has in these films by taking serious dramatic risks. Big-budget escapism will never die, so long as intellectual pandering continues to be the most effective pheromone luring the mindless drones to the multiplex. This latest Avengers entry isn’t guilty of all that I condemn most populist entertainment, mainly because there is a team of resilient artists with integrity fighting for control of this project. This odd meeting of genuine talent and ambition with the compromise and sacrifice that comes with mounting a 200+ million dollar tentpole has processed Age of Ultron a confounding concoction. It shows signs of fleeting life in passages, but is at nearly every turn bullied into submission by established parameters dictating the film be palatable before it be good.

This franchise has already set the stage for an endless churn of films that are at war with being less brand-entry and more standalone, but there's one thing that has been consistent with all Marvel films that tattoo this monotony on each work: None of the primary characters are susceptible to the loom of mortality. For a superhero series, one that frequents in thrusting it’s characters in preposterously harrowing situations, it eliminates the concept of stakes altogether. Even though the effects and action choreography occasionally stumbles and conveys kinetic thrills in spite of itself, I found myself constantly pulled out of the moment by the nagging realization that none of this violence serves a purpose, or ever will, until, like this series, it is acknowledged that it's characters can die.

When Age of Ultron isn’t bombarding you with diverting action, it’s characters are interacting, which is almost worse than the nihilistic fight-scenes. EVERY OTHER LINE OF DIALOGUE IN THIS FILM IS A CATCHPHRASE. There are intermittent highs that rescue these playful, cheesy jabs from resulting in complete cinematic flatlining; just when the ordeal feels ready to capsize through a barrage of one-liners and turn me off entirely, Whedon and co inject a playfully off-kilter segment or a split-second visual gag that actually works. Nonetheless, my cringe face got quite the workout watching Age of Ultron. I’m fine with Marvel's light, easygoing tone, but the reality of the film fringes on collapsing on numerous occasions because Tony Stark can’t have a conversation without punning it up. What a dick.

These blunders made in Age of Ultron are reprehensible enough, but my primary issue with the new Avengers is it's jumbled, frenetically conducted rhythm. Nearly EVERY transition is tainted by a transparent, gaping wound - plot holes of an enormity so egregious that each venue feels teetering of the edge of complete derailment. Whedon HAD to make compromises in order to condense his latest staggering behemoth into a franchise-loyal, cohesive(ish) tentpole centerpiece, while simultaneously retaining his integrity, allowing for legitimate personality to seep through the cracks of his latest high-budget, crowd-drawing effort. Age of Ultron is an immense, seven-course meal and Whedon had the task of delivering the dish, which by no means could be safely digested without unbuckling your waist and allowing your protruding bulge to breathe. Not a particularly attractive look.

To resist stagnancy and stifling billow, he surgically extracted every scene that didn’t warrant it's absolute necessity. This may sound like he has crafted a lean, carefully honed film, free of needless indulgence. He has not. Instead, Whedon got shaky hands on the operating table and ripped out scenes that, though not eventful enough to justify their existence entirely, were ESSENTIAL elements of cohesion and overall flow. I’ll list of a couple instances; if I regurgitated every gap of consistency, I’d be risking redundancy (which Whedon showed little regard for) and stretching my memory thin:

How did Bruce find Natasha imprisoned by Ultron, why was he not guarding her, and why was she not just killed in the first place? (he wasn’t holding her for strategic ransom or anything). How the **** did Thor know when to come back to resurrect Vision during the scuffle in the lab and what happened with him in the pool of water? (this segment feels completely incoherent, not redeemable IMO).

Ultron comes and goes in this movie and with each screen appearance you understand the character less and less. A bit frightening in his screen debut, he goes through daddy issues to end up patheticaly. Despite Spader's voice, Ultron has been handled in this movie poorly. As all (or almost all) of the characters to be fair. This movie feels like Iron Man 3.5 with too much focus around Stark, Whedon's pat on the back to Renner - "sorry for the first movie, in this one you'll be important. Don't care whether is makes sense", romance between Banner and Romanov is... well, as many have stated before me - dull and plain stupid.
But! The movie is not bad - the effects are great, some of the fights are handled great and a few lines are worth mentioning. As a standalone it can defend itself. As a sequel it fails miserably. For the Marvel Cinematic Universe Avengers: Age of Ultron could not exist. It wouldn't change much. Maybe it would be fot the best...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Bland story, numerous plot holes, and by-the-book action scenes make this film one of the least compelling or interesting in the franchise. The only fun part about this film is the action scenes but even the final action scene is boring because we saw a similar fight scene in the original Avengers film. The story was horribly rushed with new characters being introduced far too often, often with little to no explanation. The main villain, Ultron, is possibly the lamest antagonist I have ever seen, his constant singing of Pinocchio's I've Got No Strings only makes me feel like I'm watching a child friendly A Nightmare on Elm Street. The only thing that kept me going were two things; the intense and violent action scenes, and the investment into this series that began back in 2008. This is a fun film to watch, but don't expect it too surpass any other Avengers film, The Incredible Hulk was funner to watch. Expand

The last 50 minutes are quite a lot better, though, with great action and excitement on display. Nonetheless, the flaws found all over the first hour 20 are still found in this portion of the film; ranging from a bad script, to an uninteresting story, ponderous acting and pointless branching to the wider Marvel universe — with the film’s length far too long. It’s not completely rubbish, but…

Just stick with Avengers Assemble.

Sure it's big expensive well orchestrated action, but I would argue very boring action when one too many of this director's specialty of let's say "idiotically unrealistic synchronous action plays, as in someone picking up or throwing or shooting something and hitting the one in a million mark over and over and over to the point of zero believability" results in therefore zero jeopardy. This thing has way too damn much action. It's just a blur of utterly forgettable nonsense at the end of the day isn't it? The silly dialogue could only pass muster for 8 year olds and the attempts at humor are coming from the sensibility of an uber geek, in other words it's not funny! Half a dozen funny one liners by the complacent Downy Jr. do not make up for it, much less the drivel coming out of the other actors' mouths.
I am a fan of superhero movies when they're good, like the original "Superman", "Batman", "X-Men", "Spiderman", "Iron Man", "The Dark Knight" and "Captain America" to name a few. Those are fun for all ages without being insulting to the intelligence of adults. That's way more than can be said for this overloaded juvenile film.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Avengers : Age of Ultron is a movie which the trailer wants us to watch the movie because it's awesome. However, the movie is disappointing because Ultron is evil because he is evil (he has no real motivations to be cruel) and he is boring. I felt like the movie was too long, because of the love story between Hulk and Black Widow, of the dialogues sometimes (some jokes weren't funny, is it because I saw the movie in French instead of English ?). They put characters we didn't know they exist on the movie, I expected a well-known superhero like Spider-man or Superman for example.
The story is disappointing, but the graphics are beautiful.

It wasn't necessarily bad, as such, it just wasn't anything special, and certainly not as good as the first. Ultron felt more like a plot device than a fleshed out villain, and the entire movie amounted to setup for upcoming movies, specifically Civil War, Infinity War, and Black Panther. It contributed very little to the MCU in itself, apart from pulling the audience away from liking Iron Man, so that Civil War might be more acceptable to them. Its a necessary point, I think, in the MCU, especially since many viewers aren't readers of the comics, but in itself, it was it was a little lack-lustre. On top of that, the story felt very compressed.

That said, it wasn't a bad experience. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to watch it again, but it was worth watching once, if for no reason other than to make better sense of future Marvel movies.

I had high hopes for the movie but they were totally crashed to the ground.
It's a completely disaster at every part nor the one. The whole scenes look like hell. Inappropriate dialogues, useless fighting battles, new un fully discovered heroes, childish jokes which seem really silly. In addition we have awful script which doesn't give logical answers to many things by the end of a film.
Of course the CGI effects may seem to be fine and you will enjoy a few picturesque scenes but even that can not help the movie to go on high-hope experience.
Looks like JW is done by playing the main role in making the new Marvel universe. I guess, this is not his blame while we can point freely on the policy of Marvel.
Eventually, you will be disappointed for sure, if you are not a little kid with no brains at all. It is very sad, that the sequel could not beat the first one. It gives nothing new but takes everything good we had.

TheBasically Transformers with super heroes instead of robots, so guage your likely enjoyment of Avengers: Age of Ultron on that. The problem with the entire Avengers series is too many characters and almost zero character development. The writers are afraid to focus the plot on one or two of the heroes and develop deeper stories because they're bound to do fan service and equal screen time for all of them. Instead of a story the audience can sink their teeth into, Ultron starts out with a CG fight scene and never lets up. Just one fight scene after another, each one trying to top the last. It doesn't take long to get numb to all this and sort of tune it out. Of course the heroes save the day and of course they set it up for the next film. But the ride to get there is so bombastic and shallow I just waited for it to be over. Expand

Even though CGI is pretty good it still looks unrealistic, yeh that's cgi that whole city going up, yep all the avengers fighting that's all computer stuff. Some of it is just over the top, if the whole earth went to work to build a flying city they would take ten years just to plan it. Yes this is all fantasy stuff, but we like to see some semblance of reality that's why I remember the house in the country scene more than most of the other stuff. Ultron didn't impress me for some reason as a super robot that is, and the guy he was building, ultra ultron was well, what was he? I thought ultrons face movements when speaking looked too much like plastic moving. Ultron wants to destroy mankind, why? we do enough of that already why not change us into a race of robots, I thought the premise was lame. If I was hulk I would have taken Natasha with me and kept the plane. I think this movie was too much like too much chocolate, it tastes good at the start then just gets sickly sweet, should have made two movies out of it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My biggest concern about this movie was how Joss Whedon was going to handle the story. Before its release, there was a ton of announcements about new characters like Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Ultron - as well as the returning cast - getting stranded in a 2 hour and a half movie, which scared me a little bit. Director Joss Whedon focused too much on spectacle that he forgot to pay attention to the movie's narrative, which is hampered by too many introductions and exposition, feeling very overcrowded at times. However, the movie does have its character quirks and action set pieces that satisfy in every sense of the world. To be honest, this whole cinematic universe is getting so stuffed that is hard to take a deep breath. Is this the beginning of Marvel's downfall? I hope not.

When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for a global adventure.

I was NOT expecting the beginning of the movie to be what I thought it was going to be in the middle of it. It feels unexplained how the team came back together. I mean, where did the Hulk go after the first Avengers movie? Where did Hawkeye go? Did he stay with S.H.I.E.L.D? It just feels too rushed, and doesn't give you a minute to process because you're in a middle of a spectacularly chaotic action sequence. I must say, Whedon knows how to craft a decently filmed, well choreographed action moment and I love that. But the movie just feels tired in some way. Ultron's motivation is too rushed and somewhat incomprehensible, not to mention he had this shtick that made me wonder how a robot can possess a comedic performance like a real human being. Look, I understand he has artificial intelligence but that doesn't give him the possibility to do that. Or does it?

The Avengers movie (the first one) had this charm that put moviegoers on the edge of their seat. This sequel just puts anyone on the edge of their mind. I know it sounds stupid to say that, but there's no other words to express this overstuffed film. Maybe I'm being too hard on this movie. The characters are excellent, the soundtrack is once again fantastic, the visuals are pretty eye-popping, the action is exuberant and there are several dramatic character moments to enjoy. I'm so sad about Quicksilver's death. He would have made an outstanding avenger. You know, for a minor character, he got a decent amount of screen-time.

Funny scenes return in large supply, mostly between the main characters. Some of the humor works, some doesn't, but it's truly gratifying to see that the team production behind the making of this picture hasn't lost their wit and creativity. I also would like to mention the appearance of Nick Fury. Man, I love that guy, and he didn't earn the screen-time he deserved, which kinda pissed me off. I hope he returns in future installments with a good amount of time.

Final Score to Avengers: Age of Ultron: 6.5/10. Not sure if I'm ever going to bump it down to a 6, but one thing I'm sure: This was a blast. I mean, not just in the bad way, it's just sweet to look at. Despite Ultron's bloated plan, I still liked his design (James Spader did a great job) and his lines of dialogue. I liked the characters, liked Joss Whedon's directing, but that pacing and plotting... we have to work at it, don't we Mr. Whedon? Anyway, this was a solid movie and I hope Marvel keeps improving.

P.S: That Stan Lee cameo was funny...

In terms of story, nothing is accomplished here, the stakes are not that high because we all know that no one of importance will die or else there wouldn't be a dozen more of these movies, the humor and quips are fine at first but after awhile it just seems forced and when the tone is set for seriousness it's jarring to see jokes in every line of dialogue. Another problem in the movie is also Marvel's biggest weakness, Villains. Ultron, while brilliantly played by James Spader seemed like a threat at first but he and his army of disposable robots are defeated very easily even when some of our heroes only have a Bow and Arrow or Pistols. The film's story regresses as it goes on, taking breaks between plot progressions even when there is no action, trailer like scenes are inserted in the 2nd and 3rd acts to set up the next 4 of these movies and doing so just takes away the story of this movie and makes it seem like $330 million dollar preview of coming (and distant) attractions. Very sad time to go in a Marvel movie with expectations especially after the raising of the bar thanks to Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, like i said this movie should have been a step forward in the franchise but it took 2 steps back instead. She also waits in a cage for Banner to rescue her for no reason. he saves her, but in a way that literally makes no sense. the villian was very, very well voice acted, and entertaining. his plan was retarded.

Where it is awesome and interesting to see our favorite team of heroes back on the big screen, and in action, but here's where it falters. Ultron is not a threat at all. He is about as powerful as paper. The Avengers just rip through him with absolute ease. Also The Vision is just shoe horned in right at the end. They just seen to try and tell to many different stories, which make sense as there are so many of them in the film, but the way it's executed, it takes away from the entire experience. An example of this is the Black Widow and Bruce Banner romance, which just comes out of the blue, and just makes you think "who actually cares?" One last thing I really did not like were the casting choices for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Scarlet's costume wasn't even close to anything that she would possibly wear, neither of the actor's really look the part, and my gosh they really do not sound the part either.

It just seems like a stepping stone for other films in the franchise. I can already tell the Civil War film is going to be as big of a failure. One redeeming factor of the film is when Scarlet Witch uses her mind powers on Black Widow, and it uncovers her back story and how she became a spy. Other than that, this stepping stone in the Marvel Universe is slowly pointing to the demise and problems that are soon to come to the MCU unfortunately.

Found myself at times being bored and even feel asleep a few times. It is hard for me to rate any Marvel movie this low as I grew up a comic book addict spending a lot of my hard earned money as a kid on comic books. Still found this one just a bit stale, the action is the only thing that kept me going! The humor and one liners were good at times, but still found it hard for the this one to get off the ground for me. Hopefully the next one will be accompanied with a better plot, and be a little more upbeat, and something a little fresher and not feel so much like a total retread!! Expand

It starts strong with awesome action. Especially a one shot that shows us all the Avengers doing their thing and working together, and for probably 20 to 30 minutes the film keeps giving us action and fun dialogue scenes between the heroes that was probably the best part about the first Avengers film and definitely this one too, even if the dialogue in this film is pretty bad.

Although after Ultron is set up, the film becomes pretty forgettable. They get to a safe place, and talk, and plan, and talk, and Hawkeye kisses his wife a couple million times. This goes on probably for an hour or so. It's alright for what it is since I like the Avengers interacting together, but the script doesn't really do anything with the characters themselves, other than maybe Hulk and Black Widow because they have that romance thing which was actually kinda cute. But none of the other characters are really developed. They're just there doing their thing and talking about how we need to do this and that to stop the evil little cheeky Ultron. The movie also has the twins from the credits scene in "Captain America Winter Soldier" and they were useless. No character development, didn't care about them in any way. They were just tossed in to the movie because I guess they had to do something with them. The movie also sets up a new character when there's only like 45 minutes left of the movie which was pretty weird and at the end clearly indicates that this character matters in the later films.

Third act is just action. I enjoyed it even though the whole film to that point had felt kind of inconsequential. They fight Ultron who was a pretty worthy foe for the film. He was funny and pretty interesting. Although I still wasn't feeling any big changes to the universe. If anything significant in the universe changed during the film, it wasn't told very clearly or in an interesting way. This film for the most part just felt like it was here to give us some cool moments for all the Avengers, but not really develop them that much. And at the end it obviously sets up a new movie. Not nearly as good as the first Avengers film, but Age of Ultron is enjoyable as a dumb action blockbuster that's loud and has attractive people doing big things in it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The biggest problem this movie had is that Ultron was far from being very smart. In the start they made him look like a very intimidating machine, but in the end he was "just afraid" of everything, far from an artificial inteligence who could actually outsmart the avengers. Most of Ultron's intentions were just obvious, except only for the flying city, which in the end wasn't really surprising.
Also, this movie feels like a mess when compared to the first Avengers movie. The first Avengers had a good balance between each scene, and they also explored the capabilities of the main heros in a balanced way. In Age of Ultron, this balance is not there anymore. One thing that made me upset was the fight between hulk and Iron Man. Hulk speciality is being incredibly strong, yet he gets beaten by Iron Man with a bigger suit that was just there on his sleeve. This felt unjust for Hulk's character.

The movieIn all honesty, while everyone was concerned about "Ant-Man" being Marvel's potential flop--or if not flop, then fall from their previously stellar record--but given how hyped Age of Ultron was, I feel like this their real letdown. The movie wasn't terrible, but in the wake of hits like Guardians or Winter Soldier, it didn't quite hold up. Sure, there were some good sequences and snippy dialog (no spoilers, just that there are some good little gags), but it still feels like there weren't enough redeeming qualities in the somewhat scattered plot to make it a great film, or even a very good one. Since we know where the Marvel Universe is going with Civil War later on, it feels like Age of Ultron is entirely devoted to shaping character's individual feelings and motives for the next movie. I won't call it filler, but overall this isn't a great film in any light. Expand

The new characters we appealing and I enjoyed Ultron, Vision and Scarlett Witch however Quicksilver mucked it up. The plot was a decent one but it was copied and pasted from the first one so I felt tired out by half way through. The cameos went well to start off with but by the end each character that had been in a Marvel movie within the cinematic universe felt shoehorned in by the end. Besides from that I would probably get it on DVD to watch it in the future with a fresh mind but for now it felt as good as Captain America: The First Avenger. Expand

This is an alright movie as movies go. It is pretty good as Marvel movies go. I have heard grumbling, but it’s mostly nerds talking about things that can’t possibly matter or people looking to pick a fight with some low-hanging fruit. Mostly what was disappointing was that the real conflict was the same as the first Avengers movie (will the Avengers assemble? Answer: yes) which was a letdown because the opening makes it seem like the writers have finally moved on and that we can stop rehashing the plotline that is already destined for rehashing in Civil War. For a moment Whedon makes it seem like this tired emotional territory will be made anew by Hawkeye stepping forward as the hearth of the team but then he just remains in the role of underutilized acting talent while the camera lingers on him without explanation. Also, remember when Tony Stark died for a second in the first Avengers and even though you knew his contract said he had to be fine you still cared because it completed the only interesting character arc in the Marvel movies wherein a guy with no real powers and crippling narcissism changes from being a person to a Jesus? Verily he has risen, which is fine because there’s a whole other sequel where the event leaves him psychologically damaged and he must continue to evolve. You will not have that experience watching anyone die or not die in this movie. Expand

They were the ones that gathered the characters in a room and pitted them against each other, the inevitable war of the worlds delayed in favor of a much more entertaining war of words. This was the doing of Joss Whedon, god among geeks, hired by Marvel to pump some humor and life into the studio’s franchise-building strategy. What the writer-director saw in the plum gig, beyond presumed bags of money, was a chance to adopt another of his dysfunctional surrogate families. He treated the iconic characters, loaned out to him for a couple of expensive hours, like neurotic people, trading as many barbs as blows. The result was a summer event movie that felt playful and idiosyncratic, even as it skillfully delivered on its mandate to be just one part of a larger whole.

But Whedon, a true believer in the pleasures of comic-book storytelling, is no miracle worker. In Avengers: Age Of Ultron, his busy return engagement to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the strain of multitasking begins to show. Even at two and a half hours, this jam-packed sequel has little room for the kind of chatty downtime—the “off” moments Whedon excels at—that distinguished its predecessor. The film doesn’t just reassemble the all-star ranks, cramming sardonic billionaire Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), unfrozen super soldier Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), thunder god Thor (Chris Hemsworth), reformed assassin Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), flinty marksman Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and occasional giant green monster Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) back into the frame together. It also feeds supporting players, borrowed from Marvel’s various solo outings, into the franchise hub, while devoting additional screen time to the appearance of brand new characters. There’s so much ground to cover here—so many introductions to make, so much story to churn through, so many gargantuan set pieces to mount—that the movie never really finds room to breathe.

Whedon, quick as ever with the quips, hits the ground running: The film opens in medias res, taking a page from the James Bond series by dropping us into an Avengers mission already in progress. Storming the castle of Hydra’s last remaining heavy, the good guys emerge with some enticing spoils, among them the unexpected key to artificial intelligence. Stark, it would seem, is obsessed with the idea of creating “a suit of armor around the world”—a kind of automated peacekeeping program that would allow him and his crime-fighting colleagues to take an indefinite vacation. The film underdramatizes the character’s weariness, but no matter; from his utopian retirement plan comes the titular villain, a disturbed robot whose plan for world peace is considerably more genocidal than his creator would prefer. If there are no more people, there are no more wars.

Ultron, with his muscular metallic frame and expressive alien features, certainly looks cool. The film conceives of him as a kind of mad machine, his glitches manifesting as homicidal insecurities, and he’s been voiced—quite recognizably, despite the robotic filter—by James Spader, who sinks his teeth into Whedon’s venomous dialogue. If Ultron’s never quite as menacing as one might hope, it’s possibly because the writer-director also wants him to be a force of dark comedy, firing zingers nearly as relentlessly as his flyboy “father.” He’s more interesting, nonetheless, than the other villains: “miracle” twins The Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), divorced of their mutant backstory from the comics. Olsen’s telepath, whose powers are numerous and a little vague, invades the headspace of our heroes; a less overstuffed film might have treated these mind games more abstractly, rather than simply sending Cap and company through Nightmare On Elm Street versions of their origin stories. As for speed demon Quicksilver, he has his moments, but none as remotely fun as what Bryan Singer did with the same character in X-Men: Days Of Future Past. The film could use any sequence as joyful as that movie’s “Time In A Bottle.”

Age Of Ultron leaps across the globe, as the Avengers hunt Ultron from New York City to Africa to Eastern Europe. Each new location is a demolition derby, a model city to be leveled during another frantic set piece. Whedon gets the elastic physical reality of comic books, and he knows how to frame a shot—like a late overhead image of the characters, arranged in a circle, attacking in every direction—as though it were a splash panel come to life.

Clint does not have a farm. Clint has an crap apartment in New York and roof top BBQ with his neighbors and all the good things Matt Fraction gave us. Clint does not have a wife and kids. Clint has a pizza dog. Clint has one friend. The farm is a cliched, lazy piece of garbage. The kids and wife aren't real, their agents. It's all a plot, Clint Barton does not have a farm.
