This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Avengers: Age of Ultron is directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Aaron Taylor Johnson, and James Spader. The plot involves the Avengers who team up again to defeat Ultron, an A.I. that Tony Stark created hoping to protect the planet. But of Course, his plan goes awry as Ultron becomes self aware and plans to "save the world" by putting the human race and the Avengers to extinction. What I loved about this movie is how they put a unique twist on the "take over the world" cliche we've seen over and over again by using an A.I. that thinks he is just doing the right thing. Now, the great things about this movie are a. the action, b. the villian, c. the character development and d. the characters themselves. However, the major problem of this movie is the pacing. There are many parts that feel to slow and many parts that feel too fast. However, I was never bored with this movie. Avengers: Age of Ultron is extremely fun and a solid addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 9/10 Expand

Fast paced and engaging, with a delightful script and epic action sequences which are superbly executed, you will not be disappointed. The performances are fantastic, which is to be expected, and the storyline is once again both prescient and compelling, providing commentary on the human condition and insight into the deeper natures of the Avengers themselves. The CGI is a little clunky initially, and some moments are oddly edited, nevertheless this is a must see on the big screen. 9.11/10 Expand

Although this film was great, I feel it wasn't AS entertaining as the original avengers film as the enemy was no where near as developed as Loki. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Avengers Age of Ultron is a film that I feel gets too much hate and I think it is more clever than people give it credit for. I think part of the reason why people have started to give this movie a lot of flak is the fact that it didn't surpass everyone's expectations but I think that it was a great movie for what it is. I do agree that the wow factor is not as strong and it is not as groundbreaking as the previous film but it is still a major blockbuster that excels at what it does. The Avengers are pushed to their limits in this one as they are torn apart mentally after the fight in Wakanda. Each Character felt like they have changed as a result of what happens in this story. The Hulk is now more of a loner than he was before and Black Widow has finally revealed part of her past. I personally have some mixed feelings about her portrayal in this film though because she is capable and she has more depth with her relationship with the Hulk. However she was captured pretty easily and the fact that she sees herself as a monster by having to go through the sterilization process sends a questionable message. With all of those problems though the film still has great set pieces and funny one liners. The best part of the film was when the Avengers were at a party and interacted with one another. I actually would have been satisfied if they had spent the whole movie at this party. The new characters that were introduced are actually compelling in their own right. This version of quicksilver may not be as funny as his fox counterpart but he still has a few moments to shine. The Scarlet Which has an interesting power by bending reality and mind control and is torn between her loyalties between her brother and Ultron. It was an interesting move to make Jarvis the vision but it was a move that pulled off pretty well. The seeds of the future conflict between Iron Man and Captain America are sown as they bicker over the need of creating Ultron and the fact that Stark was pretty backstabbing in this film. Hawkeye was given a lot more depth than any of his previous incarnations since he is given a motivation to continue fighting for his family. He is also an important father figure to Scarlet Which after the death of her brother and gives an inspirational speech. The heroes is this film actually act as heroes unlike their counterparts in the DC Cinematic Universe as they make attempts to evacuate civilians from the carnage. The biggest thing that this film does right is Ultron himself. He is both intimating and funny at the same time. Some viewed him as a weak villain because of the fact that he ha been pummeled by the heores but people forget that he is a computer program that can spread his consciousness to other machines. This film turned one of my least favorite Marvel villains and made him into one of my personal favorites. He may be a machine but he also breaks expectations by having a sarcastic sense of humor and is genuinely disappointed when the siblings turn on him. This film is not a ground-breaking as its predecessor but it is still a great film in its own right.. Expand

The setting of this film took place in Sokovia - an Eastern Europe that exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - while a good portion of the movie also took place in Tony's massive building, the most fascinating scenes came out in Sokovia. Throughout the film, we saw an interesting fight - not between Avengers and Ultron - The civil fight between the Avengers team felt quite realistic and enjoyable. We saw multiple varied personalities work together poorly in order to garner positive results; Captain America worked for the team, Tony Stark worked for himself, Thor only believed in his faith, and Hulk practically just destroyed stuff. However, in the end, everything came together quite decently as Ultron was finally defeated. While the environmental setting didn't support the film's fantasy, the personalities boosted the calibre of the film through the roof. The clash between Tony and Steve Rogers easily became the best aspect of the film.

The movie's cinematography was outstanding. Marvel fight scenes have been top-notch ever since the Avengers were introduced. I remember being 11 when I initially watched it in 2017, trying to replicate Tony Stark's personality to look cool - Ah, my Avengers phase. Maybe that's the reason why I fantasize about the Avengers franchise so much. Ultron was a reasonable villain with extreme powers, his mentality was similar to Tony's mentality as we saw their style of thinking were compared multiple times throughout the film. The cast did a really great job at acting like everyone in the movie worked better than one could expect. To put it in context, I couldn't imagine anyone else playing the role of Iron Man/Thor/Captain America/Hulk/Black Widow/Hawkeye. Age of Ultron was the first Marvel film I watched, it opened a whole new bridge of Sci-fi movies for me as I progressively got more and more addicted to the Marvel franchise. My initial thoughts on the movie, when I first watched the film, have pretty much remained the same; I still can't get over the fantastic cinematography. I feel like the marvellous ideas and concepts for these superheroes fused with the rather unusual personalities boost the entertainment value of the movie extremely.

One of the biggest flaws with this(or any Avengers movie) seemed to be how exaggerated the strengths of the villains were but it seemed like the villains barely used half of their powers. While this is understandable - they want to actually continue the storyline - it seems like a lazy way to complete the movie. Ultron could've ended the entire world with extreme ease but decided to take the high road and ended up losing. The relationship between Black Widow and Banner finally got some exposure, however, it had no direction as Hulk immediately went missing. The fights between Captain America and Tony were amazing but how did one speech from Nick Fury change the entire mindset of every member? Pretty unrealistic, if you ask me. The humourous scenes were quite underwhelming, though I did enjoy the post-credit scene as it asked one genuine question; if we put Thor's hammer in an elevator, would it go up? I hate the fact that Wanda is so very powerful, yet her stupidity leads to a more unrealistic fight between her and Ultron. The resolution of the film felt quite monotonous as it was just Tony and Hulk destroying an entire **** city with no sense of the people left in the city. While the Shield tried their best to evacuate everyone from the city, surely, there would've been people who were left out. So basically, the entire premise of this movie is that Tony created a gigantic **** villain who can ruin the entire world but the villain decides to take the harder path and gets defeated, leaving many citizens dead. In conclusion, the so-called 'heroes' ended up being the real villain. Ha, interesting concept.

Whedon brings us simply more of the Avengers. Only this time the action has been cranked up significantly. It really doesn't do much to build up or change it's world. It mainly serves as another entry meant to entertain while hinting at even bigger things to come.

This isn't entirely a bad thing. The results are very fun. Plenty of references to and inclusions of material from the comics that built this universe are in place to make Marvel fans happy. While the almost non-stop action can get exhausting at times it is no less entertaining. Probably though where the movie stumbles the most is that there isn't any real tension.

Ultron is a compelling villain and played incredibly well by James Spader. He has an incredible personality that ultimately isn't used well enough to make him stand out. Despite all of his witty lines and incredible potential his role isn't anything more than what we've already come to see from other Marvel movie villains. His generic destroy humanity goal basically just serves as a way to give the Avengers a lot of cannon fodder to bash through. I enjoyed seeing Ultron onscreen and he does have a few cool moments that elevate him above generic Marvel movie villain, but his motives and methods are basically the same. It's not hard to see that there's so much more that could have been done with him.

The majority of the story itself is the generic heroes have to save the day stuff we got with the last Avengers, but there are moments where it all tries to do something a little more. It does a lot to build up tension between the heroes (an obvious setup for Civil War). Their motives are tested and reasoning questioned. Although it all works out in the end and they team up to beat the villain once again it's not hard to see how some of these wounds of mistrust won't heal all the way and lead to some conflict down the road.

They pack a lot into this movie. A significant portion of which builds up the future of the MCU. Some more minor additions like the inclusions of new superheroes and looks into some the more minor characters (Hawkeye) lives are appreciated and fun. Most of this little stuff pays off in big ways, especially in the humor department. These characters have formed real relationships. Their friendships often lead to some playful teasing that's hilarious. Humor extends to other aspects of the film as well. The humor is appreciated even among all of the chaos.

One thing that doesn't really work out is the relationship between Banner and Black Widow. Outside of Ruffalo's charming awkwardness and goofiness around Natasha the relationship doesn't actually feel like a real thing. The characters interact, but you never pick up any sort of romantic vibe. I can say that it doesn't feel forced, but that's because it doesn't feel like it actually exists.

As always with these superhero movies the fiction is stretched due to a reliance on elements and possibilities that don't exist in the real world. Age of Ultron does a great job at keeping these things understandable. At least until talk of infinity stones pops up and they create android life. I'm still not really sure what happened with that.

Age of Ultron is a superhero extravaganza. It's roughly two-and-a-half hour running time is packed full of action and excitement. It might not hit all of the right notes with it's story or do anything particularly new, but it doesn't change the fact that it's still a blast. If you enjoy Marvel movies you'll enjoy this. It brings your favorite, incredibly well cast superheroes back to thing big screen in order to do some crazy cool stuff.

I give "Avengers: Age of Ultron" an 8.5/10.

Though the sequel doesn't hold up as well as the original, it still had some solid action and a couple jokes that were funny. In terms of the jokes, this movie really only has one running one with Captain America that gets old by the end. Though the story is far from the comic book version, Marvel studios did a god job of making it still make sense. I really didn't like the forced Hollywood formula crap in this movie with the two love stories going on (Hawkeye/his wife, Hulk/Natasha) I think what was really great about the original Avengers was that it didn't follow Hollywood formula much, but Age of Ultron does and if the 3rd of the series is even more Hollywood then it'll be the last Avengers I see. I enjoy super hero movies, but not when they become overly saturated. Expand

It also represents a changing of the guard, so to speak, for the Marvel Universe. With their new focus geared more toward characters who have yet to have their own movies yet (Ant-man and Dr. Strange), the end to this movie does a good job in setting up what is to come, especially if they make a stand alone Spider man movie where he joins the Avengers later on. As for the movie itself, it certainly wasn't as dramatic as the first one was and alot of the impact was lost with a few too many faces. Also with the shift in direction, a few characters probably won't be heard of again until the next Avengers movie way down the line. However, this movie will probably be more remember for what it sets up than what actually happened. Ultron was a decent villain but certainly not memorable. And Tony Starks involvement in creating him and the consequences in doing it are kinda slipped under the rug. But, seeing as it is Whedon's last Marvel movie, I can kinda see him leaving a few holes here and there. There's also a definite problem with the number of characters introduced here. A few got lost in the shuffle IMO and the fact that they can't use the term "Mutant" because they don't own the rights to it also felt disingenuous. We all know what the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are and I felt like they thought I was stupid the entire time they said they were "experiments".
Still the movie is a good watch, especially for a fan of the series. You definitely shouldn't watch this without watching the rest of the marvel movies though. This is a movie made for the fans and it doesn't apologize for it.

Another great was this film was darker than the first film,at first your like this movie is just fun and FUNNY but along the way it goes dark and I love the way how the humour and seriousness are set, it is beautiful. The character development is great especially hawkeye, hulk and black widow even Ultron(best marvel villain since Loki) he was awesome. Now the reason it's not great is some of the plot points like vision Paul was great as vision but they tried to make him important than he is and I feel it didn't work also I felt Ultron creation or origin was a bit rushed but in the end didn't matter. One major disappointment was ultron's defeat I felt it was a bit anticlimactic and the humour in it was a bit out of place, one small problem was thor's role it was too complicated and didn't make sense but all in all one of the best movies from marvel an absolute BLAST. First, this film had a sense of heart, not failing to take risks at many points. Second, it had some freaking depth for once. You actually felt for the characters, even though Whedon may have emphasized it a bit too much (i.e. Hawkeye's family). Lastly, it actually had a plot. The action scenes were still top notch, the acting, especially by RDJ as Tony Stark, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlett Witch, Scar Jo as Natasha Romanov and especially James Spader as the voice of Ultron, who is probably one of my favorite villain performances in the Marvel Universe. Overall, a worthy sequel to the biggest super hero blockbuster of all time that exceeds it's predecessor in many ways. Expand

Throwing together the best interwoven cinematic universe is a tough thing to do, but Marvel certainly nailed it. Many consider The Avengers to be a cornerstone film for comic book adaptions. Though I have my gripes with it, those people are certainly right; it nails the essence of what a comic book feels like. Also The Avengers was popular, as many of you know. Like the transition from The Dark Knight to Rises, it’s nearly impossible to meet the standards the previous film has made, but Whedon has tried and he gives us a flawed gem that I have enjoyed more than the first, but still has it’s share of issues.

The opening of the film very much channels the energy of the ending of the first movie. The high pace action that follows one characters and passes the torch to another, eventually giving us an overview of the team, The movie has some very well placed shots, and for the sake of the action, some great cinematography. When Iron Man punches something with tons of inertia, you feel it. When the Hulk bulldozes his way through a structure, you get the awe of the moment, something director, Joss Whedon, nails and is more consistent with this time around.

It wouldn’t be a Whedon film without mentioning the dialogue. Joss proves, yet again, that he’s a master of banter and juggling characters. This works out great, particularly with Hawkeye, whom gets the best lines the entire movie and cements himself as a standout, he is given the right amount of love and care that was absent. Iron Man bounces off of everyone pretty well, and the characters feel exactly as they should be, except Ultron. Our villain here is played quite well by the mesmerizing voice of James Spader, however, the dialogue fails him. Too often do we hear sarcasm that just doesn’t feel right and doesn’t match the sinister look and feel that Ultron should emulate. It’s disappointing because Ultron had so much potential to be a more menacing and memorable villain and instead, he just fills a role.

There’s a romance dynamic between Dr. Banner and Black Widow that seems out of place as well. It’s good to get some insight into the mind of the Hulk but the way it came to life just feels out of place and doesn’t have a good enough pay off, though perhaps it will in a future installment. We also get two new characters in the form of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Both are integral to the plot, and Scarlet Witch makes for a pretty good edition, whereas Quicksilver’s powers are showcased very well, neither give off a huge lasting impression, but it’s forgivable and they’re fun to see on screen.

The main problem that the movie suffers from is pacing. The first one spent all it’s time on the helicarrier and in New York, this one juggles so many locations it’s tough to pin it all down. The beginning is quick and interesting, but then there’s just gap that doesn’t really grab and hold onto us. Age of Ultron is at it’s best when there’s action going on or The Avenger’s themselves are caught up in conflict with one another. This oddball pacing continues, but it doesn’t mean we don’t get some great moments. We get a look at Black Panther’s main villain played by Andy Serkis. There’s an action sequence in Africa with Hulkbuster armor and The Hulk that’s a highlight, the ending is pretty solid as well, and any scenes with The Vision are great.

What attracts me to the movie is how it’s evolved from the first one. Whedon could have done it all over again in the same format and people would have loved it, but that’s no how he does it. We get a fleshed out story that sometimes falls but damn it’s admirable, we get the comedy and quips that Joss is known for, and some superb action to top it all off. I will admit that while most of the dialogue was great, there are some bad moments of dialogue, however they are few and far in between.

What we get is a commendable movie that I really did have a lot of fun with. There are moments where I got lost, there was too much going on, or it jumps around too much, but we end up with a Marvel movie that delivers, and the promise of an Avenger’s sequel is a hard thing to deliver, Whedon does his best and gives us a good product. Age of Ultron is a great movie for any Marvel fans and film goers alike.

My biggest criticism is that some of the character development and dialogue is cut short to make room for the larger cast and more destroying stuff. Its hard in an ensemble film to give every character some kind of story arch. So a few of them are a bit light. Also in a positive note. I really like the doomsday weapon. Usually they are overly complex and use a lot of science/magic. This one, the means of accomplishing it may be science/magic. But the weapon is simple and straightforward. Expand

Age of Ultron is even better written, the main storyline is again not that spectacular, but this time the pacing felt right and I had some loud laughs.
The action sequences are partly really spectacular (opening shot) and partly a little bit too shaky for my taste.
In the end, this movie entertained me excellently over its entire runtime because of its writing and characters.

Updated Review:
Avengers: Age of Ultron is an equivalent counterpart to its predecessor. It’s a great time with a lot of epicness, laughs and of course the same awesome superheroes. But something is missing.

One of the greatest aspects with this new Marvel movie is that the theme is very different. The chemistry between the main characters is much darker, and the danger is very much from within as it is from Ultron. The best thing with this sequel is the humor; it’s so random and freaking fantastic at some places. I also had a great time with Ultron, he’s visually stunning and a superb character that also got humor! The CGI is incredible, but he did actually look a bit too “computerish”, like a character from a videogame. But Ultron, and Vision are actually both my favorite characters in this movie, especially Vision. He’s freaking awesome (even though he looks like another superhero) and he’s now one of my favorite characters in the MCU. The plot of this film is in a way a bit simpler than in the previous movie, but there are a lot more things going on at the same time. Other great aspects are: a great and action-packed opening scene, much returning and new characters from previous movies, deep messages and conversations, incredible special effects and of course the same classic humor.

But sadly, there are a lot of flaws. The first thing is that they shouldn’t have shown as much as they did in the trailers. Yes it totally made me go watch the movie, but there wasn’t as many surprises as I wanted to see. The trailers did ruin the movie a bit. The 3D didn’t really add anything; there weren’t that many 3D-effects. I also did expect a fantastic soundtrack, but it wasn’t the same as in the first film. The film is also predictable, especially in the third act. It should at least have been one massive plot twist; it would have made the ending much greater even though I totally loved it. The action sequences are of course fantastic, but some of them are all the same and nothing new was contributed, it’s too much focus on CGI and SPX rather on the plot. And it’s awesome to see new and returning characters from previous MCU movies, but it actually became too many, so many of the major characters didn’t get as much focus as I wanted to see.

But I still had a great time with this movie. It’s better than the first but there’s something missing, something important. They had all these incredible characters and actors, but they didn’t use them fully. The movie is fantastic, but it could have been even better. After watching it a second time have all the negative aspects become greater. From a longer perspective do I actually think that the first Avengers movie winns. I'm therefor lowering my rating from 8.8 to 8.6. But instead of reading this long and boring review do I really recommend that you go and watch it, because it’s freaking awesome and it did live up to my expectations.

Let's start with the good points. Amazing action scenes, like, seriously some of the best in any comic book movie to date, the story was pretty good but i was dissapointed the end goal was a typical 'destroy the world' plot. The characters we really good, Hawkeye and Bruce Banner became more interesting, Quicksilver was ok, I didn't like how they killed him off, scarlet witch was ok as well and Vision was amazing, absolutely loved him. The Hulk VS Ironman (Hulkbuster) scene was the best part of the movie, soooo good. But seriously, WHY and HOW did Ironman win?!?!?

Now for the bad parts. Way, way, way too many cheesy jokes. C'mon Marvel can you just lay off the jokes for at least one movie? While it was one of the more darker MCU movies, it still had the cheesiness to it. Now for Ultron, i wanted to like him but i just couldn't he was way too comedic and was continuously cracking cheesy jokes, it took away from how menacing he is supposed to be, but i can say that we was cool showing off his powers at times. Another minus is that the movie did feel a little clustered, i would've liked to see more of the Maximoff twins. Also the post/mid credit scene was disappointing, nothing new that we haven't seen yet.

A couple other touches i liked were Thor's vision about the infinity gems, it's nice we got to see some set up for Infinity war, i also loved the fact that they went to Wakanda, nice little Black Panther reference.
All in all i thoroughly enjoyed this film, especially for a comic book fan like myself. 8/10

No real spoilers here but some hints.

I’ll start by saying I did not walk out of the theater with that overwhelming awe-buzz. Honestly though, that is as much about Marvel expectations than the lack of greatness shown on the screen. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll watch anything Marvel makes till the cows come home, they are that good. But let’s face it, we are getting two to three comic-based movies a year, so the novelty is gone and it’s all about the raw film making and acting. Which remains very high in this film, by the way.

On that note, Marvel continue to impress with great dialog, situational comedy, solid action with quality effects. Not to mention lovable characters that are well-defined and deeply developed.

Considering the source of the antagonist in this film, they created a deliciously diabolical character that we can almost feel. Since Marvel has already vetted the core group of protagonists they were at liberty to add a few new ‘Avengers’ in this film without making it feel crowded.

I felt like they advanced the Scarlet Witch too quickly, however. She starts off as a mind manipulator “not ready” for action and allied with the “bad guys”. By the end of the movie she has become a fully evolved and powerful character as well as a member of the Avengers. That transformation from naive frightened girl discovering her power to the energy wielding juggernaut happens a tad too fast.

The Tony Stark character continues to impress and Robert Downey Jr. shows us the darker side of his obsessive behavior. Tony is a good guy that is in desperate need of a moral compass. Good thing the Cap is an Avenger :) With each new movie Scarlett Johannsen continues to impress with a deep character portrayal of Black Widow.

Marvel also continues to bring the whole marvel Universe together with these films. There are tie ins with Marvel’s Agents of Shield on ABC TV, The previous movies including other franchises like the X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy. The whole Marvel Universe is a big connected family and they continue to merge and blend them to keep this wonderful continuity going.

This movie is extremely well done and though I don’t walk out of the theater with that crazy buzz, I think that is a real testament to just how good Marvel is. I have come to expect ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ every time I see a Marvel movie. The expectation is greatness and so when all they deliver is the usual greatness, the buzz isn’t there. It’s like I am Andy Capp and my booze is Marvel Movies, no matter how much I drink I just can’t get lit on it anymore. Don’t for one second think that isn’t a good thing. Marvel just cranks out good movies like Peyton Manning throws touchdown passes; it’s just another day at the office.

I gotta give this movie a solid 4 stars, I know it’s getting old passing out A grades every time Stan Lee touches something, but what am gonna do? It’s good stuff.

They are perfectly matched together and this film is no different. I am slightly concerned that this one may pale into comparison in the long run especially after Infinity War comes out and I’m not even certain I would say that it is better than the first film, but it is a very good film and it was well worth the wait!!! It’s not a perfect film by any means but it’s a good enough film that you really will ignore most of the flaws though I suspect some long time fans might be slightly disappointed by this film. The characters are great, the acting is great, the action sequences are once again excellent and it sets up Phase 3 pretty well especially in the post credit scene which I would recommend you stick around to see. The film does kind of bank on the fact that you have seen most of the Marvel Movies prior to seeing this, but I would say that’s not entirely essential, although I would recommend at a minimum you have seen the previous Avengers Assemble and if you have time, see Captain America the Winter Soldier.

I really liked it, I wouldn’t say for certain that it outdoes the first film, but I wasn’t expecting it to outdo it and I’m not sure it needs to do that. It just needed to be really good and be an excellent conclusion to Phase 2 of Marvel, even though, technically the conclusion of Phase 2 is going to be Ant Man, but spiritually this is the end of Phase2. Bring on Phase 3 I say, I’m ready to go.

The first movie was basically the meet-up, "the first day at school" but now they all know each other, they've been working together for some time and you can feel and see it in this movie. Age of Ultron goes deeper with the relationship between the Avengers, and it goes deeper into the characters’ personlities. Black Widow's back story is definitely the most interesting one, it gave her an emotional layer that she didn't really have. It made me feel like we finally got a glimpse of who she is deep down - who Barton knows her to be.

Speaking of Barton, he is in Age of Ultron what Hulk was in The Avengers. He kind of steal the show, he has some funny scenes, and through him Whedon addresses most of the criticism made to The Avengers and particularly to the ones about Hawkeye. It is almost like Clint Barton is pulling a Deadpool on us by breaking the fourth wall because he is very aware of how his character was treated in the first movie and how his weapon of choice might not be the best for a battle against robots. He’s maybe not addressing the audience directly but he might as well.

In contrast to Barton, Hulk was actually like I expected him to be in the first film, slightly tortured, complex, and not completely comfortable with what he is. I’ll admit it doesn't perfectly add up to the Hulk we’ve previously seen but I chucked it up to Banner having battle fatigue. As for his romance with Natasha, Widow made me buy into in once she explained why she liked him.

As vilains go, Ultron was a worthy one. He was smart, sarcastic, and has a child-like innocence in his ruthlessness. Some might like Loki a little bit more but to me it’s due to the fact that we’ve got to know Loki in a few films over the years, and it’s jealousy that fuels him something we can all relate to and that Ultron does not have. As for Baron Von Strucker was window dressing in the movie - not that I was expecting a lot more of him - his real purpose was to introduce the twins in the end-credit scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Whatever you may thing about their East Europeans accents Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were pretty cool. They’re powerful, they’re new, and at the same time you could feel them striving for more so they quite seamlessly joined the team. They were avengers from the beginning, they had something to avenge from the start.

One of the good things with Avengers: Age of Ultron is that from start to finish the story is easily followed and we can already see the ramification the events in the film will have but the interest stays intact.

Age of Ultron is definitely less Disney. It’s darker, more serious, and adult but children can obviously enjoy as well that what the comic relieves are for. What took it up a notch was the danger factor, there’s a death in the film - a real one I hope. @wornoutspines

Much better than Guardians of the Galaxy in my opinion. I'm not gonna use this review to compare the two but just know that I'm not totally inhuman. But back to Avengers, this movie had amazing writing and actors behind it which came together to make a goofy but badass movie. I'm really glad the movie introduced the character Scarlet Witch because it gave an opportunity to go into the Avengers' psyches and see their relative backstories which helped you to identify the characters more and give them a personality more than just beating up bad guys. That said however this opens up a couple moments that try too hard to make you feel bad for the characters and make no sense. Like, the addition of Hawkeye's family just to force a backstory on us instead of letting it flow naturally like the others. Also, if you hate random love interests like I do, Hulk and Black Widow are a thing now. No real buildup or anything they're just...in love because every movie ever needs a love interest. But seriously other than that I have no quarrels with this movie. See it if you haven't already but just be prepared for one or two things that might bother you. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So, it's definitely getting hard carrying and keeping on with all these different characters and plots, but Age of Ultron is way too fun. As expected, it's action-packed, the actors deliver, but most importantly, IT MAKES SENSE. Whedon and company really do display an effort. One can only imagine how difficult this movie must've been to shoot. The other thing is: there's a different feel than the first Avengers movie. This one seems much more dark. Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson: YES! Hulk and Black Widow: YES! Expand

The story to The Avengers: Age of Ultron is about Tony Stark jumpstarts a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as they battle to save the planet from destruction at the hands of the villainous Ultron.

You had no idea how excited I was for Age of Ultron even after the chilling and dark looking teaser trailer we got back in October last year. The teaser trailer looked really dark and so dead serious and I know that's a thing with Marvel films today that they making they own films look dark and gritty but it's comedy, I have no idea why they do that but anywhere I was hooked. The villain Ultron was another reason for me to get excited for the movie as "There are no strings on me", thing I never thought it would be so creepy. After seeing the movie I can say that Age of Ultron is a great start to summer movies and a lot of fun to watch.

Joss Whedon had spoken out saying "This was the hardest movie he ever worked on", and I clearly see the effort and hard work put into this movie. Joss had a lot of things in his hands while making this movie and that's it's characters, story, action and it's brilliant sense of humor, and it payed off well. Joss Whedon did a great job directing this movie as he put in enough energy and to entertain everyone.

James Spader as the villain Ultron is pretty much what I already expected for the most part but these a lot of surprises to his character like his sense of humor and how self aware he is about everything around him and I think it worked and fitted him very well. James Spader pretty much dose Raymond 'Red' Reddington from The Blacklist and I'm not saying that in a negative way but more of a good thing. Marvel isn't doing such a great job with villains and I'm not talking about Loki I mean in Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy all have weak villains but Ultron was awesome and I'm happy his character wasn't like the other villains in those three movies I just named. Great work James Spader.

The visual effect's were pretty damn good, the Avengers themselves are once again brilliant as we remember them.

Now for problems: Black Widow and Bruce Banner or Hulk have a love triangle in this movie and it really doesn't work at all. They chemistry wasn't there and there was no build up to it, I would like to see Captain American or Haweye have relationship with her as she as better chemistry with those two, it would have made more sense since she's been with Captain America and Haweye more times than Banner.

I feel that the movie didn't really set up the Civil War story in the next Marvel movie with Iron Man and Captain America against each other. I know a couple of times those two would get into a little fight but they quickly shake it off and moved on, it's a small little nick pick I have and I know it wouldn't effect everyone else but I just saying the Civil War story should have been set up a little bit.

Overall The Avengers: Age of Ultron is a great start to the summer movie season. I had a great time watching this movie, I never got bored, all the characters had they screen time and it was funny and entertaining, the villain I thought was great and the action scenes was very enjoyable.

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner are back with some new additions to the franchise in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', one of the most anticipated films of 2015.

This sequel is very different to the 2012 film, 'The Avengers'. By that I mean the first movie is for people who are looking for a good action flick and are disappointed with the "Transformers" films. But the action still needs purpose and that's what that movie had to offer, it didn't disappoint. "Age of Ultron" on the other hand is a darker, personal and small sequel than the original. In other words, if you like a bigger story with heart and emotion with some pretty neat action, i.e. 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' (2014), than this one is for you.

While the characters are back, the humor is present and the action scenes are aplenty, 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' will no doubt divide many audiences who may think this is either better than the original, or slightly underwhelming. I think it's as good as the first, it may not be clean as 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014), nor is it messy as 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (2014), but I was gripped from start to finish.

James Spader voices Ultron, the main enemy of the film. The first thing I have to comment on is his performance, and what a performance it is. I reckon Ultron is the best on-screen, comic-book villain since Heath Ledger's Joker in 'The Dark Knight' (2008).

Another new additions to the franchise are; Pietro Maximoff aka "Quicksilver" (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Wanda Maximoff aka "Scarlet Witch" (Elizabeth Olsen). I didn't really feel that these characters were necessary to this story, but they had some spectacular moments and that's thanks to Joss Whedon's confident direction.

Overall, I liked this movie, probably not as much as recent superhero outings such as 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014) or 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' (2014)...but I liked it much better than 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (2014). The story is darker, the action scenes maybe too much and too exhausting, and maybe 2 hours and 21 minutes is a bit too long...but if you are a die-hard Marvel fan, you will not be disappointed.

And by the way, is Aaron Johnson's Quicksilver better than Evan Peters? I still prefer Evan Peters because of that famous slow-motion scene, but Johnson delivers a clean and sophisticated, cool performance.

Solid movie. If I'm ranking Marvel films, it's 4th behind Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the first Avengers.

The one liners in this movie are brilliant and the action scenes are worth the money alone. The usual suspects shine (Evans and Downey Jr.) and The Vision is a welcomed edition to the Avengers. Spader does a great job and crafts a devious Ultron. The character development of Black Widow is nonexistent and Hawkeye's development as well as the Banner/Romanov romance feels forced.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. i went to the 11:35pm showing last night of Avengers:AOU and i have to say that i was very pleased with how it turned out. From flying cars to a flying island the movie meet the qualifications it needed to be a summer block buster. It showed you the variety of struggles between the team and how they have more battles than in the field. One thing they should have done it showed more about the twins (Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch). But over all i gave this more an 8 out of 10 for the fact that it was really entertaining. Expand

This film had some welcome additions (Vision and Quicksilver), and some not-so-welcome ones (Scarlet Witch). This film, like the first had a great balance of action and humor, and the acting was fitting, except for Chris Hemsworth (it's not his fault, Thor isn't a very good character) and Elizabeth Olsen (totally her fault, she kept dropping her Russian accent unlike Aaron Taylor-Johnson). This film even made me like Hawkeye, who is a lame character overall. So all in all, this film impressed me based on my standards going in, and it is a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Expand

Let me first start out by saying, what were you expecting? A deep love story that is supposed to play with your heart strings and move you? Please. This is the Avengers. It's all in your face action from beginning to end with a solid story throughout the entire film.

Is it the best movie of all time? No. Is it an excellent film that you will get over 2 hours of entertainment from? Yes. Some of the idiots on here like to think that they are 'sophisticated movie critics' and give a good movie a 1 or a 2 just to go against the grain.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Avengers: Age of Ultron is an exciting ride from start to finish. For readers of the comic, it was nice to see characters like Quicksilver, The Vision, Ultron, etc being transformed to the big screen for the first time. Also, this movie made me like Hawkeye more as a character. Props to the actor for a stellar performance.
Ultron was kind of an "on again off again" villain. Sometimes I was like, "yeah, he's frightening" and other times I was just confused on what he was doing. But when they most needed him to be a villain and ditch the humor (during the final battle) he delivered.
Overall, this set the stage for a lot of other things to come in the MCU but nevertheless, a very enjoyable, awesome movie that everyone should definitely check out.
