Does this movie have issues? Absolutelty is does! The editing is off and there's an event that takes place within the third act that felt forced but in a summer filled with big popcorn movies it's good to get a small treat brought to us by the great Cameron Crowe. The overall storytelling is good and the plot is a little clichéd but it is still entertaining throughout.
Aloha is not exactly Almost Famous but the five year production and cast make this a fantastic movie by Crowe. The top-billed cast is overflowing with talent. Cooper again embarks on a fascinating role but isn't executed as well as American Sniper and certainly isn't Oscar worthy. His chemistry with Stone is unusual but works very well. Stone brings an adorable charm to this movie which makes the movie flow with colour and enthusiam. In conclusion, worth a watch but don't enter this movie with very low expectations.

Their reactions don't always match who they are reacting to. Some of the scenes also seem to end, then it remains in the same scene hours later. Maybe there will be a director's cut where the missing scenes will be restored, if that's the problem. Meanwhile, it was good to see the moral compass at work for most of the characters and the resulting respect for Hawaiin culture. It was hard to tell where this movie was going until the end. While it was a romantic comedy, we weren't always sure who to route for and it needed tension added to convey the movie's message. Expand

Not sure what everyone is complaining about. There were about 2 scenes that were a little cliche and 1 scene that was maybe poorly directed/not fully believable, but everything else was good and there multiple VERY GOOD scenes, funny, and interesting. As per the Hawaii stuff, Hollywood has been whitewashing Hawaii forever, so I am not going to punish this film for that, because its a good film. I just saw "From Here To Eternity" which also takes place on Hawaii with army guys on base and pretty much does the SAME EXACT THING with the subject matter of Hawii as its similar in some of the themes but yet that is considered a classic all time, but people are just complaining because this movie came out now. For white people on a base in Hawii, it might be like that, that may be their experience. The point of the movie is not to be a documentary about how great Hawaii is. It was a pretty funny, and well done romantic comedy, a little weird, but I like that, and thats Cameron Crowe. It was good. Expand

Brian Gilcrest (Bradley Cooper) a military contractor gets a second chance, trying not screw up like he did last time, so he returns to Honolulu Hawaii to go to a US space program with his watchdog (Emma Stone). Gilcrest tries to get back together with his ex-girlfriend Tracy (Rachel McAdams) she is married and has children also she is dealing with her silent husband Woody (John Krasinki) whom he is jealous of Brian. The film has some issues like how I am not buying that Stone and Cooper have chemistry, it’s a little clichéd that we know Brian and Tracy have feelings for each other and they try to get back together but then it’s not going to happen because the husband loves her and Gilcrest still loves his watchdog Allison a dumb love triangle that just is terrible in movies. Bill Murray was wasted in the film; he looks bored and has nothing to do in the movie. Writer-director Cameron Crowe manages to screw up the cast and not mentioning Crowe’s insubstantial writing, the romance in the film is not that strong. Bradley Cooper’s performance was perfect, his portrayal as this character was charming. Some of the performances were awesome it’s just Crowe’s script that feels like it’s written by a child. The film is spot on. The problem with the film is it has unnecessary scenes for example the Hawaiian tradition scenes; they were beautiful though sometimes it will take people who are watching this film out of the moment. The film is charming the supporting cast was great to maybe the characters needed some works. Grade B+ (... a high B+) Expand

Great performances (especially from Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone, who both show their talents in a way unusual of both of them :D) and some funny dialogue make Aloha entertaining and soothing. It is not a great movie at all. But if you want to smile, it's perfect for the cause. Expand
