The special effects blend well with live action. The plot and story are not trying too hard or distracting from the visuals. Much like Avatar, there is a simpleness to the plot/story which are appreciated in this kind of a film. There is also a nice effort to focus on some messaging that is more neutral in tone as compared to other contemporary flicks such as Captain Marvel which is quite heavy handed. For Alita, she learns that her body is “just a shell” and that she must decide how to use it. There are a few weak points in the film, the most pronounced for me is the male lead who lacks the verve I’d expect at this level; the chemistry wasn’t there for me. This is something you can zone out and watch. Pure eye candy with little twists that you miss if aren’t paying attention for a few seconds. I give it an 85% Expand

It should almost be considered criminal that the critics gave this movie such a low rating. Alita: Battle Angel is a truly great package. Incredible effects, amazing performances from Rosa Salazar and Christoph Waltz, perfect timing.

The plot is really solid, but used before, so not spectacular. However this is because it remains very true to the source material.

Overall I still rate it as one of the best movies I have seen in several years.

It stems from the fact that it was made by a director and a team of creative minds who wanted to make this movie and had fun in doing so; resulting in one of the most entertaining blockbusters in recent years.

The craftsmanship and care this film was made with are fully realized in its attention to detail and the CGI is without a doubt some of the best that the industry has ever produced to this day. It is seamless and might be considered amongst some as flawless and the most quintessential use of CGI ever. While other films in the past have failed to encapsulate photorealistic facial expressions with their use of motion capture Alita: Battle Angel excels in this area. To truly sell a motion-captured performance to the audience they must believe that a non-performance captured character and a performance captured character are sharing the screen. In doing this it allows both actors to act off of each other's performances and create meaningful interactions. It is not enough to say that the believability and craft put into Alita’s design is beyond stunning.

Alita is played by Rose Salazar and she delivers such a memorable and wonderful performance. The audience is immediately introduced to Alita and are captivated by her magnificent presence on screen; start to finish. Rose does something remarkable throughout the entirety of this film—she manages to maintain a sense of innocence and naivety while also illustrating what a total badass Alita is. In many films characters are often forced on the viewers and are told to like them through eye-rolling attempts of being cool, tough, or attractive in rather mediocre scenes or moments of supposed character development rather than being shown why a character should be liked and cared for through well-constructed interactions between the characters and their dialogue. Rose’s performance is genuine and adorable. When Alita smiles and laughs the audience smiles and laughs. When Alita stands her ground and takes **** from no one the audience responds with “that’s right!”. This is an iconic female heroine in the making.

One thing that is important to note is the exclusion of forced themes. One of the strengths of Alita as a character is her ability to be a badass female without the need of subjugating the viewer to unnecessary dialog pertaining to female power or feminism; something that has grown tiresome to view as many films released in recent years have tried to develop authentic female characters but fail.

Recently in cinema, there has been a push for a greater presence of women (and greater diversity in general) in film; rightfully so and long overdue. However, in doing so the narrative regarding equality and feminism has been dismantled and restructured into something less than what women truly deserve on the big screen.

The strongest and most effective form of feminism that you can present to the viewer is visually capturing her strength, virtue, charisma, and flaws through her actions. Lines like, “You’re pretty good for a girl.” or “Not too bad for a girl.” are absent from this film and it is all apparent in the supporting characters care and respect for Alita as an individual and as one of their own. Show don’t tell.

Alita doesn’t bash or make quips about how better she is than everyone else to justify her actions as a “strong woman”. Gender politics, identity politics, and hidden SJW agendas are non-existent in this film. This strengthens Alita as a role model for young girls and women all around the world; it is the core foundation of what makes her so appealing to everyone—her heart, her innocence, and her level of badassery.

The character development of Alita is so impressing and fun to experience. Every time she is onscreen the viewer can’t help but smile and anticipate what’s to come next. Alita is introduced as a fragment of the past that has no recollection of her role in the world she awakes in. As the story progresses, Alita, as well as the viewer, happen upon the idea of a greater and grander universe to explore as well as further character development. She remembers who she is and knows now what she stands for. “I will not stand by in the presence of evil.” - Alita

There are many moments that are handled with such delicate attention to detail in Alita’s body language that is absent from a majority of characters in cinema, today. From her hand movements to her facial expressions, and in how she fights. She moves with fluidity; in the way she presents herself and in how she speaks.

The story of Alita: Battle Angel is not perfect. It has room for growth and improvement in its potential sequels. It teases big ideas and a universe worth exploring. It drops bits of lore worth expanding upon. The world Alita takes place in is one worth revisiting.

To top it off, itIt's not a well known Manga, even in Japan, and it's Original Video Adaptation did not take off well either. I think that's why when it was announced, the first time I saw the trailer, I was like "who or what is this?". To top it off, it sounded a bit too cheesy for me at the time... "Battle Angel". The obvious contrast of the two words was just a bit cringey. But I saw it was produced by Jim Cameron, directed by Rob Rodriguez and co-produced by John Landau from Avatar. So yeah, this might be OK. So saw it in the cinema, expecting around a solid 7 of 10, or at least a 6, given the heavy hitters that were at the helm of this movie. But boy was I wrong, and I never could have been happier I was wrong. This movie just blew me away. Everything about it was immersive, the world, the graphics, the characters, the acting, the music and the heart that went into this movie is just contagious. You can tell this was done with a lot of love and care, and passion shines through in the movie.

The world, and the small hints of the back-story is compelling, they told enough to give proper context for the current events in the movie, but also just enough that it makes the viewer ask more, be curious and formulate their own 'possibilities' of the past events which led to the present world they live in. The visuals, graphics and CGI is top notch. This movie in my opinion is the new gold standard in terms of computer generated imagery. They pushed the technology with the art and it shows. It's not perfect, but it is far beyond the current competition in terms of quality and most importantly believeability. The main character in the movie is 100% CGI, which is surprising since about 80-90% of the time, you forget that she's CGI, even with the BIG eyes, small mouth and pointy chin. That's how photo-real the images are. The characters are well developed and well played by all of the cast, especially the lead role Rosa Salazar, whose performance and voice gives life and soul to the character. Christoph Waltz as Ido made it seem so easy and natural and Ed Skrein as Zapan makes for a compelling jerk in the story. The passion, the love and care put into this movie is seen by how engrossed the actors are in their characters, as it shows in the screen the genuine emotions that were put forth, as well as the writing and direction that was taken to tell the story. The music ADDS to the emotion of the current events unfolding, as they should, and add it does! There's nothing less to be expected after all from the same guy who did the score for Mad Max: Fury Road. As you may have noticed, I did not mention yet the dialogue and the story. The story sets itself up for a sequel, which plays into my bias of generally disliking that style of storytelling. Though it has a beginning and an end of its own, it leaves one feeling a bit hanging still. The dialogue at some parts also felt a bit disjointed, as was the progression of the story. Acceptable if one takes into the context that this is but a small part of a larger multi-volume story in Japanese, not so much if it is to be taken as it is, without that context. They could have edited these aspects heavily, but doing so would be a move that is quite unfaithful and could be taken as disrespectful of the source material, which James Cameron was careful to maintain its integrity. It doesn't lend itself that well to the movie in my opinion, but a commendable move overall. To wrap it up, the movie isn't perfect, it has its flaws, but overall, it's a movie that draws you in, and sticks with you with all the heart it brings, the richness of the world and characters, the intensity of action, and of course, the humanity and relateability of the central character Alita, that makes one genuinely care for the character from the moment she is introduced on-screen. It's one of those movies that not only entertains, but inspires. It managed to do that to me, and I imagine it will do so to many more. This movie is a solid 9/10, and would recommend it highly for everyone who wants to watch more than just a firework spectacle, but a deep and universally appealing movie with a message and a heart at its core.

I really hope they make more films in this universe! It's also one of the few films that ends in such a way I'm amped up and can't wait to see what happens next. Those involved did a fantastic job making this film a reality. And the special effects... WOW! The only real con I can see with this film is that the story has some cheese to it since it appears to have elements of young adult focus to it. It's easily forgiven since it's so minor and the one big moment this happens in the film is quickly doused with some harsh reality the character has to deal with. Overall I give it a 9/10. Expand

This depiction on a (female) character is not only kind of "fresh" (although it is not new in concept) but also perfectly wrapped in other emotional scarves which you need to strip down after the movie is ongoing: The development of the character(s) and world building are going hand in hand. And as you follow Alita on her journey you are not reminded, it is A GIRL who is fighting for her "humanity" and place in that world. This is a showcase of beeing somebody who is different. Not (reduced) by gender. But by construct of the society. After Wonderwoman and Alita we have two great examples in last two years HOW IT IS DONE. If Capt Marvel would have gone that road … One more thing: it is so refreshing to watch Rosa Salazar (and two years ago Gal Gadot) explain her character and giving us inclusive interviews without any fake agendas – something Brie Larson is obviously not able or willing to do. A shame. And a sad thing.

People, GO WATCH ALITA.

I've seen this movie 3 time. I'm thinking of seeing if for a 4th. Why is this note worthy?

1. I rarely make time to go to a theater to see a movie. Maybe once every 6 mo or more.
2. When I do go, it's even rarer that I see it in 3D. Some 3D movies are uncomfortable (giving me headaches or hurting my eyes), and unimpressive.
3. When I do see a movie in 3D, it's unprecedented that I see it a 2nd tme in 3D, let a lone a 3rd time.

Alita Battle Angel is an amazing movie, and good enough to motivate me to do all of the above. The CGI, and intricate detail in the machine parts was absolutely amazing. Especially in IMAX 3D. Except for some minor changes, it stayed close to the source material. The acting from most of the cast was top notch, and you really cared about the characters. The action was mind blowing, and Alita's journy from an amnesiac naive girl, to a badass warrior is extremely compelling. At no time in this movie was I bored in any of the showings, even after seeing it 3 times. I left the theater each time wanting more. This is by far the best live active Manga/Anime adaptation ever created. This movie deserves a sequel.

First off, if you're a fan of anime/manga or cyberpunk, stop reading this and watch the movie now! For the rest, this is a really good sci-fi action flick about a girl's search for meaning and purpose in the world.

I'll admit, it's not a perfect movie, and some action fans thought the dialogue was too melodramatic. Other complaints were that they crammed too much plot into the two hours. Then there's those critics who complained she was too sexualized, which wasn't the case at all. It seems more likely these critics were just writing articles just for clickbait.

However, if you go to the movie with an open mind, you'll definitely get a lot out of it. There is actually a deep philosophical & spiritual theme about what it is to be human weaved into this tale, since it retains the core essence of the original Japanese story.

Interestingly, people who complained about the big eyes beforehand really forgot about it during the movie. That's because Rosa Salazar's ability to act and emote with her face (not to mention the animator's work) really helps you fall in love with her character. IMO, she really deserves an Oscar for her performance.

I also really loved the father daughter relationship between Ido and Alita. It really felt like they were a real family with a rebellious teen asserting herself.

Of course the action scenes were fantastic! They are all filmed clearly without any shaky cam or too many cuts. In fact, many martial arts were used in the movie including Ip Man's Wing Chung and Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do.

Lastly, Junkie XL's soundtrack is amazing! I've been a big fan of his since he did Fury Road. I've since bought it and listen to it all the time. It has touching moments for the character scenes and hard hitting electronic music for the action.

This really is a must see in 3D if possible since it was actually filmed in 3D as opposed to added afterwards. But at this time, the theatrical run is almost over. So if it isn't playing in your local theater, do yourself a favor and buy it once home video is available.

The movie stays as true as it can to the original story while maintaining a visually engaging story. Yes, some elements were moved around, some elements glossed over, and editorial changes in some of the character narratives, but over all this is the story I had fallen in love with in print form. This is what and how Manga and Anime movies that are brought to live action should all aspire to do and be. For people who are not familiar with the original story, the pacing might seem a bit rushed in some areas, and some of the character connections might have been better formed through the narrative and dialogue. I do think enough clues are given along the way that this should not be any real obstacle to fully understanding and appreciating the story as it unfolds or forming audience connections with the characters. The mix of drama, action, and humor were on point IMO, and at no time during my first, second, or even fifth time seeing it did I ever feel that time was dragging and I wished a given scene would just hurry up. The movie definitely has a positive rewatch factor. The world itself is fully developed and with tiny details that crop up over repeated watching. At my fifth time seeing it I was still finding little new things I hadn't truly noticed before that continue to add depth to the world. It is a movie I have happy recommend to my friends, even those who are not into the anime or manga art forms. Expand

"You left the theater with the relationship, feelings and the themes. That is what important." - Rosa Salazar

I watched this movie more than once in the theatre, never I did this in my whole life. I went to this movie with low expectation, like any other movies because I treat them as "entertainment". This movie is without its flaws, with little plot issues here and there. But as Rosa said, you left the theater with the feeling and emotion and Alita: Battle Angel EXACTLY DOES THAT! That is the most important thing you should measure. The VFX is top notch, one of the best. The action scenes are well done, I'm never a fan of action scenes, but Alita did it for me. And again, when you think about the film, you think about the feelings and emotions and it's indeed the sweetest film in my life. Alita: Battle Angel will always be in my heart.

I don't understand with other reviewers saying it's cliche. The film takes the source (which is from the 90s) material seriously, and what love is not cliche anyway?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you see Alita as a pure action movie, you miss the most important part about it. It's not about the action, the action serves the story. It's about Alita's character, about her emotions, about her relationships with the people around her.
Her Journey starts as a little girl, discovering the world around her, as a proxie daughter for Dr. Ido. But she develops, she grows into adolescence with all the rebellion and over-confidence coming with it. She makes mistakes, she suffers defeat, and she comes back stronger then before. She loves and is loved, and while she discovers her place in the world throughout the relations to her father figure Ido, her love interest Hugo, and her friends, she as a character is not defined by them. She shows the entire spectrum of human emotionality. Alita isn't just a fictional character - she's the most human being I've ever met. And that's why this movie is so great.

Seriously, any marvel or star wars movie gets a 75 metascore, but any blockbusters that tries to do things differently gets murdered by critics.
Now for my opinion on this movie.
I'm a fan of the manga, and I loved the movie. They really managed to cram everything that was needed to tell a consistent story, they stayed true to the material, the spirit and the violence.
The movie manage to be more emotional and a bit more lighthearted, but this is not a unicorn version. It's gunnm in all its Glory.
Alita feels different, but the character is so fascinating, and the eyes gives so much emotions to the character, it's hard not to fall for her, she is so powerful and yet so full of emotion.
The only change that was disappointing, is with Yugo, in the manga, the character is literally consumed by his goal to go the zalem. I didn't feel that, especially in the key scene at the end of the movie, to me it was a really important part of the material and I don't know why they did not keep it.
Otherwise, outstanding work, the decors, the designs, the action scenes are just amazing.
A must watch

Here's the thing about Alita Battle Angel. It doesn't try to do too much. It doesn't try to throw in too many characters. It doesn't try to throw in confusing plot twists that fall apart when you really thing of them. It simply tells a story in a straightforward linear manner. There is character development. A narrative hook and arc. A climax and a conclusion. I learned those story telling elements in MIDDLE SCHOOL. Yet somehow hollywood has forgotten the basics of storytelling and the investors/producers are panicked in to a position of always PUSHING for more more more until we're left with mutated messes of what movies should be. Let that happen long enough, and people become brainwashed, accustomed to the new-normal. Even the critics. And that's how we got here. Is Alita BA the best movie I've ever seen, no. Is all of the above still true? 100%. Expand

You'd be right to criticise it for only telling the one story that it does in this otherwise great opener of what could become an epic trilogy or series. But the visuals, the pacing, the design and the action are all on point and if you are coming to the theatre for some solid action entertainment with heart, Alita doesn't disappoint. If you're coming for the braininess of the Matrix or the grit of Sin City, look elsewhere - perhaps a sequel? Expand

The action scenes are well done, and there are some impressive visuals, there are nuances to the story which are executed well overall even with some of the early stumbling blocks and the underdeveloped relationship between Alita and Hugo. I get the sense that initial drafts had more time spent on developing the characters and their relationships, but much of it ended up cut to make time for the extended action and flashback scenes because things coalesce rather well by the end. I saw this with three friends who had no experience with anime, much less the original Gunnm/Battle Angel Alita material and they all enjoyed it very much. It's not as deep or philosophical as the source material allows for, but it redirects that energy elsewhere to the benefit of the movie as a whole.

Just as an aside, I was curious what the critics who were unimpressed with Alita's acting and narrative thought of other movies, and as I found more and more 90+'s and a couple 100's given to The Last Jedi, I started to feel a little better.

Originally written and almost directed by the king of the box office, James Cameron, has accomplished something that no other filmmaker has successfully took on which is making a great anime live action film that actually works quite well with the anime source material. Sometimes, the revised script and direction by El Mariachi/Machete/Sin City/’s Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron’s longtime partner Laeta Kalogridis hits and misses the important cues when it comes to hitting the right notes of the film, but the whole overall feel of this movie did justice on balancing the action and visual intensity just right. And I am pleased to report that Rosa Salazar kicks major cyborg ass as Alita. Did Alita: Battle Angel broke the live action anime film adaptation curse? Yes, if I were you, go ahead and experience this visual feast. Expand

I never read the original manga, so I can't speak for how faithful it is, but I will say that the film works very well as its own thing. It's refreshing to see action scenes like this which you can actually follow when so many other movies have fifteen cuts a second. While the story is slightly confusing, the actual universe it is set in is interesting, and there are some plot twists and plot developments you really don't see coming. Unlike some CGI heavy films, Alita knows when to end a scene and move on. The romance is cringe worthy and the weakest link in the film but, in the end, worked as a display of Alita's character. Lead actress is fantastically expressive - tons of nuance - and perfectly rendered - no hint of uncanny valley despite the large cyborg eyes.

It's a low bar but probably the second best live action adaption of an anime that I've seen, after the Initial D movie.

There is a little of the 'uncanny valley' to the CGI but, anime eyes notwithstanding, that fits well with the subject matter. The cast are all very good, and there is some real emotion associated with the spectacle. It was disappointing that the movie ended without a clear resolution, but given the size of the manga, I was not surprised. The film's action sequences are very impressive (as you would expect given Rodriquez's back catalogue). They rely more on 'show' than 'tell', although there is some exposition it never really bogs down the story. Expand

I'm not familiar with the source material and can't judge how well its themes have been adapted into a film, but I liked what I saw.

The basic story is nothing new. It's the tale of a rich and powerful minority in a dystopian world oppressing the poor and treating them as little more than garbage, while a hero is trying to make things right. However the actual setting, backstories and hints at what has happened is interesting and unique.

Most of the footage is completely CGI, but it's top notch. The action scenes are awesome, especially the Motorball circuit battles. Alita's face being CGI feels uncanny (particularly her bigger-than-normal eyes) compared with the rest of the characters, but then again she's a robot while others are humans with cyborg bodies.

Most of the main actors perform well in this movie, but the star of the show is Alita actress Rosa Salazar. Cristoph Waltz is perfect for Dyson Ido. Keean Johnson is OK as Hugo. Ed Skrein makes for a nice secondary villain in Zapan. But Grewishka's character is just a mindless brute, so Jackie Earle Haley had little actual work to do. Jennifer Connelly didn't impress me as Dr. Chiren, she was stiff and emotionless.

I understand that in the manga the Hugo and Alita love story is central, however I think the love between a robot and a human is non-believable even in the context of a futuristic sci-fi movie.

Another problem is, the screenwriters tried to stuff as much material from the manga as possible into a 2-hour-long movie, and it shows a bit. They should have explained more about the lore of the Alita world, but saved it for a potential sequel. The movie is still highly enjoyable even by people like me that didn't know anything about the manga.

All in all, Alita: Battle Angel is a great sci-fi action movie. I hope there is a sequel.

By the 2nd act I am reminded of the Spy Kids movies with George Lopez’s face slapped on a giant robot. Alita herself is beautifully realistic as a full CGI character, but sometimes the cyborg characters look a little “off” with their real faces pasted onto their CGI bodies. If you can get past this visual weirdness, the film is really entertaining.

The story is pretty straight forward but has a few major turns that surprise. The first act is really excellent as you learn, along with Alita, what she is and where she comes from. By the second act the movie goes full on action and is great fun. The third act is hit and miss... lets just say if a sequel never gets made, this movie doesn’t really have a good ending.

All in all, I’d sit through this 3 more times rather than sit through Aquaman. I’m just dumbfounded how many of these same critics loved that trash heap and give this movie 3 out of 10.

Good story, good characters. The visuals and action scenes are great. Wonderful depth. The CGI was fantastic. I am so sick of the boring one-dimensional Hollywood movies out there. This film was a breath of fresh air.

Arguably the best manga adaptation to date. For better and for worse, so be warned - might find dialog/romance/story "weak", but with the right mindset it is solid movie (8) and great adaptation (9)

This is the one of the best movies I've seen so far. The unique battle style cinematography and the CGI of Robert Rodriguez literally stands out to this day.

The script is based on a Japanese manga/anime story, but eventually, the plot was quite engaging. The actors did a good job, however, we could be expecting a bit more from such a great actor as Christoph Waltz is. Although the picture was stunningly amazing, it would be better the CGI was more "hidden" and blent with physical props. Overall I can truly recommend this film to everyone. It was worth spending 2 hours watching it and I would come back to rewatch it in the future.

My opinion is based on the UHD Blu-ray release I bought.

Starring Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley and Keean Johnson.

When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past - she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she's grown to love.

I read some of Alita's books, and I really liked them.. so when they announced the movie, I was so bumped up, then I lost hope to see this amazing idea comes to the big screen, and now, they finally made it!!! And it's so very good!!! Enough with the introductions, let's get into it...

I really loved the movie, for the most part, it has lots of stuff to love actually, it's a sci-fi, action movie.. with some romance, it's so easy to love, especially with the fans, I think this movie gave every fan of the manga what they want! The CGI of this movie, for the entire runtime is just flawless, Alita's face is so close to the manga, it's the closest anime/manga character adaptation I ever seen! The action sequences made me on the edge of my chair, I mean it gave me all what I wanted. The performances are not that great though! Rosa Salazar as Alita is just perfect, I loved her, also Christoph Waltz as Ido, I love him as an actor and he did some great job as Ido. Jackie Earle Haley is also good as Grewishka. Jennifer Connelly on the other hand is not good, at all, I didn't enjoy her performances at all, Keean Johnson is also bad, as well as Jorge Lendeborg Jr. I'm not gonna talk about Mahershala Ali, because of I'm so conflicted about him.
The story of this movie is also great, I really liked it, it's surprisingly fun and adventurous!

The screenplay on the other hand is the most disappointing thing through the entire movie, James Cameron did some amazing movies like Avatar, Terminator and Aliens.. he did some amazing job with these movies, but with Alita: Battle Angel is not that amazing! There is a scene of Hugo and Alita while eating chocolate, suddenly Hugo explains Zapan to Alita for no reason. Also the romance between Hugo and Alita is rushed, and no so heart-warming. There are some other points, we'll get to that point in the spoiler-review, because I have lots of stuff to talk about, but I don't want to spoil anything to you, guys.. I just want you to watch it blindly.
The screenplay is my biggest flaws with this movie. The movie is still also suffering of some issues with the narrative, that we'll talk about them in the spoiler-review.

The OST is just.. EPIC! Junkie XL did amazing job again, as he did with Mad Max: Fury Road. Alita: Battle Angel is super-epic and.. great, still suffering of some issues, but still a really fun movie to watch, and satisfying. I'm gonna give Alita: Battle Angel a B+!

And as always, thank you, guys for reading and supporting my work, really appreciate it, and if you liked it you can click on my name up above and see all of my reviews.

I felt very welcome in the world that the movie created. Nothing seems forced and you just accept the way that the people in this world mind their business. The acting is very well done but viewers have to accept that all the characters are merely tools helping to build Alita's character. There's a bit of everything. The typical post-apocalyptic dumpster world. The nice world above, which nobody knows much about. The post-apocalyptic sport. The post-apocalpytic police and some bounty hunters. It's not a surprising movie but it worked very well for me. And damn, it looks good. When Alita does, what she does best, fight, it's pure entertainment. I highly recommend watching this movie. Don't expect a dystopian masterpiece with deep thoughts about life and you will not be disappointed. Expand

The most successful for the US in my opinion. Especially how successful her iconic anime-eyes are brought to life. Heart warming father/daughter relationship between Alita & Ido. Very amazed & thankful by how much effort they put into the production to nail it as much as possible with some changes here and there. I wont be too nit picky...i dream for a Alita movie back when i fell in love with the manga, and so now here it is--dream come true! I wont say it's the best movie of 2019 though (i could be wrong), but it's most definitely not trash either. it's a good, fun, virtually explosive film painted by talented individuals! I was on the edge of my sit throughout the movie. Rosa Salazar and Cristoph Waltz's father/daughter relationship was very heartwarming.
My only regret was the moment i had to rush to the washroom when she got her new body.
As a fan of the original manga, i truly enjoyed it; although it's not perfect. And i look forward for the sequels!!
