    We want to spread the word: absorb more people into Zapling Bygone’s body. This is a gruesome Metroidvania that will make you gag, and we loved every flipping minute of it. Join the hive-mind. We dare you.

    A metroidvania that breathes the genre and gathers all the elements that a good game should have. Give Zapling Bygone a try, after a few seconds, you’ll be hooked.

    Zapling Bygone is not a memorable experience compared to some of the more well-known Metroidvania titles…However, even if it is somewhat derivative and unpolished, the story has enough charm and 16-bit art to make it a worthwhile experience.

    Zapling Bygone is a cruel Metroidvania title. What's more, there are plenty of collectables on offer and a range of skulls to find. Consequently, it'll test your ability and keep you on edge throughout. My only annoyance is the sheer difficulty, and the lack of guidance can become frustrating.

    While not overly difficult until the later chase section and boss fights, there’s just the right amount of challenge. Your first playthrough will probably take around six hours or so, more if you want to find every secret. While it didn’t grip me as much as I expected, it certainly has charm to it and definitely worth the play if you’ve been craving a new Metroidvania to check out.
