Mar 23, 2026Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties was always going to be a hit with me as a fan of the series. A lot of the amendments to modernise the game and make it more fun and interesting have hit the spot with me. Although its not the strongest story in the series, coupling it with the Dark Ties side story brings an interesting dynamic on the story which I enjoy. But a horrifically bad casting choice has completely tarnished the game and left me with mix feelings.

Feb 9, 2026Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties celebrates the series’ 20th anniversary with a polished remake and a compelling new story. Kiwami 3 refines the original with improved combat, added scenes, and richer side activities, while Dark Ties offers a focused, character-driven experience centered on Yoshitaka Mine.

Feb 12, 2026If you've been waiting with great anticipation for Yakuza Kiwami 3, then you won't be disappointed with what it has in store for you. This remake has brought Yakuza 3 right up to modern standards; it's been unshackled from its stiffer and more unpleasant aspects for the sake of a more joyous offering that caters to the Yakuza franchise's best qualities in recent years. The new Dark Ties story adds meaningfully to the overall story of Yakuza 3 as well, and almost feels like its own distinctive entity. Dark Ties might seem a bit too serious, and the Yakuza Kiwami 3 doesn't do all that much to surprise outside of bringing an old game into the modern realm, but the value for money here is excellent and you'll be very pleased to take on Yakuza 3 again in its most complete form.

Mar 2, 2026Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is a much-needed remake in the Yakuza series, offering the fans a boatload of new content and streamlining some of the most controversial sections of the original game. With the addition of richer visuals and the excellent Dark Ties expansions, and despite some overly aggressive cuts and mandatory pace-breaking side activities, the final result is definitely a game that the series' fans shouldn't miss.

Mar 5, 2026Yakuza Kiwami 3 delivers a polished return to familiar settings, with improved combat and presentation, but it also suffers from pacing issues and content cuts. Dark Ties, meanwhile, struggles to justify its inclusion, offering a filler‑heavy side story that adds little to the overall package. Still, there is plenty of fun to be had, even though some odd decisions dampen the mood.

Feb 9, 2026New content there may be, but there's little in Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties that's genuinely fresh, and the combat mechanics are beginning to feel slightly old hat. But this is a Yakuza game, and is therefore inherently good fun, balancing substory silliness and levity with a gritty crime narrative. It's also a good, solid remake that's well worth playing.

Feb 9, 2026Yakuza Kiwami 3 is a mostly competent remake of an original that needed an update. The combat and upgrade changes are welcome, though those in the ending and its attempt to justify the expansion are not. If you’re a longtime fan of the series, there may be enough here to drive you mad. If you’re a lesser fan like me or brand new to it all, there’s enough fun to be had here that it’s worth checking out.
