WRC Generations is the most complete simulation and rally game out there today. KT Racing says goodbye to the license with a very good and complete title for lovers of realistic driving.

If we would have liked for the last dance of the KT Racing-WRC collaboration real novelties on the Career mode and a little more fantasy on the classic game modes or the dressing, WRC Generations does the job. First in the modeling of his specials, then in handling his cars according to the surfaces and the conditions. In line with a successful anniversary episode, the ultimate title succeeds, without drastically upsetting its formula, in being a lasting opus and with the best lifespan of the saga. More than 150 stages in 22 countries, more than 80 racing cars with the addition of hybrid engines for the WRC, daily and weekly multi-league and club modes, the objective has been achieved by Kylotonn Racing: the title is immortal.

WRC Generations upgrades the general feel of Nacon’s yearly rally experience, tweaking the physics, handling, and smartly recreating the new challenges of the hybrid cars that are racing in the real-life series this season. The lower than usual price point is certainly very inviting, but it’s caused by the fact the game contains very little new content, with even the UIs, the career and practice tracks being virtually unchanged. There’s still a bit of “jank”, and the game is far from the best-looking racers out there, but WRC Generations offers a compelling middle ground between arcade and simulation rally, with a robust enough online and ranking system to push virtual drivers towards perfection for months to come. And now we wait for Codemasters’ first WRC game…

Overall, WRC Generations is a well-put-together farewell game for everyone new or enthusiast of the series who've been there since the beginning. It may have some issues but they can hopefully be patched out in the future. WRC Generations may not have many major changes to the series, but it still is a good game nonetheless.

WRC Generations retreads a lot of familiar ground while adding enough new to make it feel fresh. It has been a solid series for years and I am sad to learn it won’t be returning after this entry. Still this feels like a solid swan song to end on and I can tell the developers really poured their hearts into this final entry. I do wonder what they will build next and whatever it is, they have my attention. I have always loved rally games and this is one of the few simulation offerings that I have enjoyed over the years.

WRC Generations takes a decent stab at the rally scene with some great clock-beating racing, a deep career and a beefy challenge system. Away from that though and it all feels as though the series needs a little reset.

WRC Generations is KT Racing’s farewell gift to the WRC licence that accompanied it for seven opuses. The French studio could have been satisfied with a last minimum service. Quite far from that, every pixel of WRC Generations exudes the developers’ passion and love for this bewitching mechanical sport that is rallying. Almost all the planets have aligned for this final opus: superb new Rally1, more realistic car physics, a long-awaited convincing artistic direction, and a plethora of content. Far from being perfect, the latter is unfortunately under-exploited. But if we had to keep only one in the whole series, this one would be the precious. A successful ending to a superb adventure! KT Racing will join the greatest of the genre. Our expectations for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown have never been higher.

Its improved in many ways. Physics, graphics, car sound and the career mode. Kylotonn did a great job and show that they deserved the wrc license. Dont miss out on that new part if youre a rally fan. WCRG is the best rally game out there and the only simulator that is controller friendly for those who do not have a steering wheel.

Many will draw comparisons with Dirt Rally 2.0 the king of rally simulators and numerous wouldn’t touch WCRG.

But the fact is KT racing has created something that is better, fuller, more approachable, more addictive, and dare I say it more realistic.

If you’ve ever wondered why your car spins out of control on tarmac in DR2.0 at 45 mph and questioned whether this is a realistic interpretation, WCRG tells you it isn’t. It’s not that WCRG is easy to play, it isn’t but it’s handling is more consistent, more controllable, more manageable and feels more real. Obviously the most fun is found using a steering wheel, but even without one, the game works with a controller. Sure it is definitely more difficult but by reducing the sensitivity of the sticks, the game is manageable and fun.

It’s quite comparable to WRC 10 in performance and graphics with a current WRC season skin. There are some issues like throttle control and hand braking that still needs to be patched, but it has definitely come a long way from its launch. The force feedback on a Fanatec DD1 is strong and nuanced. The stages themselves are mostly identical to previous releases, and that’s not a bad thing- the stages are fun and we’ll designed. The new content is engaging and upstages previous content. The sound design in this game is particularly weak, and it is slightly disappointing to see the frame rate capped at 60FPS when previous releases were running at a solid 120 FPS. Hopefully, with some further patches, this game will become the iconic rally experience that it is meant to be. If you’re a hardcore rally fan- this game is a must, simply for the experience of driving current gen rally cars. If you’re a more casual rally racer- hold off until the game is either fixed or is reduced in price. Expand

Need to set up an account, verify email addresses, sign in on phone and xbox, then it says I have created an account before but won't let me reset password.

When I finally got into the game, the controls are non responsive and the graphics no where near as good as Forza.

Just can't imagine how this stuff could happen in a major official game with official wheels.
