    Fantastic game with great narrative. Probably the most beautiful third-person fixed camera game ever made. The oppressive atmosphere of the game is incredible

    While the graphics do not show to be optimal for a game that opens the generation for Xbox series, we have to remember that it is already a demanding game for having to render two complete worlds with two completely different aspects, each with its own assets, animations and sounds.
    STORY:
    From now on I tell you, it is a story that hooked me from the call that Marianne receives at the beginning of the game, all that atmosphere of mystery that surrounds the game is captivating, during the whole journey had me thinking about what could happen in the following minutes, the story has some good plot twists that tell in a progressive way and do not drop it all at once as it is customary in current similar games, also managing to convey quite strong feelings through the use of a well done work of voice actors.
    ART AND MUSIC:
    The artistic aspect is one of the strong points that The medium achieves in its maximum splendor, having a trapping atmosphere and with an environment in which you breathe anguish and suspense in equal parts and the music that comes from hand Akira Yamaoka accompanies and finishes giving life to that paranormal environment in which you feel that there is always someone looking at you either from the physical world as the afterlife.
    TECHNICAL ASPECTS:
    The game suffers from frame drops in very specific sections and this is mostly due to the bad use of short term storage memories (RAM) that the game has, in resolution issues I saw some sudden and extremely short drops in resolution being the minimum I witnessed of 900p ( on an Xbox series S) and did not last much more than 2 seconds and the Poppin that affects objects or cards that is appreciated when interacting with one of these objects, these three problems can be easily solved with a couple of patches.
    CONCLUSIONS:
    The medium is a game which exceeded my expectations despite some minimal technical errors that the game has, being a solid game and that they put love and dedication behind it.    … Expand

    Surprised at how engaging this game is! The visuals are gorgeous and the soundtrack is haunting and the creepiness and the scares are real. This is THE GAME to fill the Silent Hill void. Would love to see DLC expansions with new characters and new locations with new powers. Bravo XBOX and Bloober Team!

    I found The Medium to be an incredibly unique experience that I fully enjoyed playing through. It’s horror, but not too much. It’s profound, though not always. It’s compelling, a lot of the time. Great, but not perfect, components are rolled together in a package that is ultimately elevated by the novel dual-world gameplay mechanic and stunning world design.     I write this as someone who would call have called themselves a Silent Hill if the series was just the original 4 and a huge horror fan. In recent years the western developed Silent Hill's have all be terrible, this could be the best western developed "Silent Hill". The Medium is a really solid game that was just too small in scope. The Medium is a mix of classic original Silent Hill and modern Outlast kind of horror. There's no way to fight back against the monsters...but that's because there's only really one and he shows up , occasionally and usually for a quick chase scene. While the monster is genuinely creepy and Troy Baker's performance is incredibly creepy he is underused.

    Don't let this dissuade you though The Medium builds an excellent atmosphere with gorgeous visuals and environment design however it is just too small in scope and linear. What the game takes from Silent Hill; the dual realities, the atmosphere, the puzzling, it does really well but it doesn't take enough. The game needed to be bigger, imagine rather than just exploring the one hotel(a very small part of it) and the few surrounding areas (again very linear areas). If you could explore the entire complex freely like a smaller Silent Hill town the game would have been so much better, the linearity of the game is a major negative of the game as there's only ever one path to follow apart from one or two sections where you have a choice to go left or right.

    Without going into it the story is really interesting and well told and kept me hooked right until the end. The framing alone makes me want to see this expanded in a sequel if it's at all possible that is bigger in all ways.

    Another way that the game could have been improved is if there were more puzzles, the only two puzzles that take more than a second to work out are right at the end and while they're really cool and interesting they're not that hard. This is a major miss from the game.

    A final improvement I would make is really go into the dual world gameplay, imagine if when you arrive at the hotel instead of seeing sadness as this broken destroyed child, you see them as a normal child (think Laura in Silent Hill 2) helping you through the game for a while and then when you phase into the other world you see her for what she really is.

    I can understand why they didn't have smaller enemies in the game, the tight linear environments wouldn't have made combat very satisfying and would have frustrated more than anything. Simply adding more enemies into the game, giving players a way to fight back against them, treating The Maw as a more "Pyramid Head" figure and expanding the areas would have worked wonders for the game.

    However for what the game is it is a fantastic atmospheric experience and the best Silent Hill game since Silent Hill 3. Possibly one of the best horror experiences in a long time, I don't think the Outlast series is a very good horror experience and The Medium doesn't need a first person camera restricting views to be creepy. Minus a few issues and technical flaws the game is a really good if small experience.    … Expand

    A Bloober conseguiu buscar aquele mesmo sentimento que tinhamos nos Resident Evil e Silent Hill clássicos.

    Título obrigatório para amantes de survival horror.

    The atmosphere in this game is extremely immersive and this is not a extremely scary games it's one of those type of games where u appreciate the enviroment and levels art style with a thriller narrative The other world part of the game looks gorgeous and this runs grogeous on series x I would recommend it if you're looking for a chill layback experience that will keep you hooked with its story

    NO, no es un Silent Hill, pero es un buen juego de terror tirando para aventura gráfica. El apartado técnico es genial y detallado, muy pulidos los escenarios, solo en la parte de los personajes se nota que les falta mejoras. La música es un gran punto positivo.

    No es un juego con un gran presupuesto e igualmente es un gran juego, una aventura de terror con exploración y la dualidad de    NO, no es un Silent Hill, pero es un buen juego de terror tirando para aventura gráfica.     This game is hilarious. It’s a homage of the classic type of survival horror, but it’s kind more of a psychological thriller. This game is definitively *not* for all the players but the atmosphere, the picture, the soundtrack and even though the gameplay, it’s way too cool. I would give a solid 85-88 overall.

    Cool world, cool story, only reason a lot of people have issues is because they were expecting a silent hill clone from the beginning. Which is unrealistic and unfair to this game. Take it as it is and you will have a great experience.

    For what is worth this game is very good. Story is amazing and this game has next gen graphics - forest is mind blowing and looks better than forest IRL. Music 10/10. And I like that this game is short because I don't like 30 hours games with 20 hours of cut scenes.

    El juego me sorprendió para bien y para mal en partes iguales, si bien el juego me gustó en ambientación e historia, me resulta un tanto repetitivo y el apartado gráfico está bien, pues la resolución, almenos en mi caso, estuvo fluctuante unas cuantas veces. Nada que no se sepa. Sin embargo es una grata sorpresa encontrarlo en game pass

    great horror game, very reminiscent of old games with a mix of games nowadays the mechanics of divided worlds and very fun and interesting, but it can still be better explored, the icing on the cake, is really part of the soundtrack and plot that are incredible

    Very strong first half of the game. It just drags in the last half and ultimately falls flat at the end. Great concept though. The game just doesn't know where to end. Pretty much the same problem Bloober Team had with The Blair Witch.

    The medium is a good game. Short about 7 hours long. Cool graphics with the dual worlds thing. Simple puzzles and the start is slow. Picks up after 2 or 3 hours. Not much gameplay wise, but cool story.

Pero en la medida que la historia avanza tienes esa sensación de querer jugar más y más ... Gráficamente no es perfecto tiene detalles como texturas que tardan en cargar o algunos errores en la parte final del juego que cargan tarde o aparecen errores en menores que pueden ser solucionados en una actualización... Pero en general todo está muy bueno ... Si tienes más de 30 años te traerá una agradable nostalgia… Expand

    Someone tells you that there is a great narrative? Do not let them fool you. The game lasts for 8 hours without any decision making. Dialogs on the rails. With a super standard story about the girl that lost her memory.

But after an hour developers send you to the "other world" without that split-screen and completely destroy their own feature. The minutes before Marian must stay in a place to move in the out body experience and later she teleports her physical body after a short hike
    Puzzle? No. Just a rail game, no secret places.

    No game design. Nothing new at all and all features that were stolen from Resident Evil or Silent Hill are stolen really mindless. Useless inventory without item management. Useless keys and tools right in front of doors they used to open.    … Expand

I get that it's for atmosphere and whatnot, but the slow moving protagonist Marianne, the fixed cinematic camera straight out of PS1 Resident Evil, and the inability to backtrack whatsoever really held this game back. Para no confundirse no es un survival horror de allí que las críticas de que no es como silent hill, resident evil u otros no aplica. El genero es más semejante al de la aventura gráfica y en ese apartado cumple y tiene unas mecánicas jugables interesantes, una historia notable. Siento injusta la comparación con Silent hills pero es que es directa es normal que no se pueda comparar estéticamente. Han conseguido captar los inicios de esa saga que tantos fans tiene ahora. Puzles sencillos y a la vez complejos si no miras bien. Narrativa ni muy densaGracias, gracias por este juego, por yamaoka en la musica y por volver a traer este tipo de juego de terror en 2021.     It is far better than i expected. Its a slower paced game, has some creep factor and some puzzles. It plays like a love letter to silent hill 2, and the early resident evils with far better controls even though they don't play as smooth as a fast paced action game(what person goes into this type of game expecting it to play like cod) this score does not mean it is perfect it means itIt is far better than i expected.     The level design of this game is just next level. The idea of being able to play two different worlds at the same is splendid. II really wish it could be improved a little on the gameplay part. I am fine with the game having no combat but the gameplay after sometimes starts to feel a little slow. And some animation work could improve as well. Still worth playing!!! it's on gamepass.

    RT is really well implemented. It’s fresh and remembers to old silent hill saga. The lore and mystery around the game create a unique atmosphere that is really needed in modern games.

    The medium chegou com uma idéia inédita e para isso sacrificou um pouco frame rate, mas pelo fato do jogo não ter uma ação frenética acaba não interferindo na jogabilidade. A câmera fixa trouxe nostalgia ao game, se inspirando principalmente em silent Hill. Até a trilha sonora foi feita pela mesma pessoa. Jogue, vale a pena!

    1 Graficos muy buenos, aun que el modelado de la personaje principal no este al mismo nivel del escenario es totalmente bello, tanto como el bosque hasta la ciudad y los interiores.

    Fantastic game from Bloober Team. Really hits all the right notes for me. If you enjoy story driven games that create great atmosphere and look visually amazing then this may be for you. If all you care about is combat in games then I won’t recommend as this game is about the journey and it’s a great one.

    Hacia mucho tiempo que no me encontraba con un título con este corte noventero pero de gráficos actuales. Magnífica banda sonora, historia que te atrapa, puzzles brillantes y sustos y misterio. Muy recomendado.

    Excelentes mecánicas de juego que hacen remarcable el resolver los puzzles, así como la música y la gran ambientación, que te adentran muy bien al suspenso del juego. No es el típico juego de jumpscares, por lo qué la sensación de intriga y terror psicológico se mantiene.

    Un juego muy bueno, sinceramente aunque no sea lo mejor debido a que es un juego AA, aún así tiene bastante que ofrecer, se entiende laa limitaciones gráficas al no tener un presupuesto abismal, pero da un buen dabor de boca de lo que se trae en manos Microsoft, sin duda un buen aperitivo mientras se vienen los peces gordos a casa. I find that it has plenty of good ideas for the puzzles, even if they aren't hard they don't need to, because it isn't the focus of the game. making the puzzles hard would have only destroyed the pacing of the game, which is the last thing they wanted. The forte of this game resides not on the horror aspects, but instead on the analysis of the environment and it's story to try to understand everything that is going on inside. I have to recommend it with all my heart, as it has become my first surprise of the year, of a game that I expected to like and move on, that's not what I got. Highly recommended.    … Expand

    Para ser un juego AA, está bastante bien logrado, me encantó la atmosfera que genera con una música de primer nivel, hace que te mantenga siempre alerta. Si, tiene problemas en expresiones faciales, y algunos movimientos acartonados, pero en su conjunto es un juego bastante disfrutable y una oportunidad que se debe probar.

    I really like this game, I remember the old horror games with that camera, the soundtrack is the best, quite similar to that of silent hill, when I started playing I thought I wouldn't like it but I ended up getting hooked on the story

    A ideia de poder jogar em duas dimensões simultaneamente é simplesmente genial, o jogo deixa a desejar na resolução em algumas partes. Porém a direção de arte e os gráficos são tão bonitos, que vc acaba relevando a baixa resolução.     A good story, an art direction to highlight, great soundtrack and some mechanics / puzzles to accompany you in the discovery of the story that without being outstanding work to not make you heavy the 7 hours. Best of all, a solid ending unusual in the horror genre.
    For me it is a game of 8.5

    Despite clunky animations, repetitive gameplay and some technical issues with the Xbox Series X version, I completed The Medium twice. Its dual-reality design, art direction and brilliant soundtrack often made me stop to take in a view or relish the music. Its mature story and atmosphere reminiscent of Silent Hill helped a lot too. Without hiding where it comes from, it's an experience horror fans won't want to miss, no matter how short. The duality approach is interesting and has enormous potential. I hope that the Bloober Team will get to work on it again and develop it more in-depth.
