    El juego es realmente increíble, es super inmersivo los escenarios enamoran, graficos next gen, el juego en si es una maravilla y la banda sonora te eriza la piel. no le hagan caso a nadie, probarlo ustedes mismo, yo no le tenia mucha fe pero al jugarlo me encanto. y pues las animaciones no son las mejores pero entiendo que es un doble A, asi que no hay peros.

    Really Good Game with excellent narrative. The angles of the cameras are sublime.
    It is an interesting story that intrigues and grabs you. It is quite original how the story unfolds between both worlds on a split screen to solve puzzles, which are not difficult except for the odd one. Bloober Team has been inspired by the games of yesteryear like Resident Evil and Silent Hill even paying    Really Good Game with excellent narrative. The angles of the cameras are sublime.
    It is an interesting story that intrigues and grabs you. Bloober Team has been inspired by the games of yesteryear like Resident Evil and Silent Hill even paying homage to them.
    Don't expect an action or horror game, rather it is more of a suspense thriller and walking simulator with a great setting and a perfect execution of the soundtrack.
    The game falters in certain situations like in the graphic section when both worlds happen on screen. Some drops in frames and loading of textures but it's a great job since the loading screens are non-existent and the assets load simultaneously and the gaming experience is unaffected.
    Applaud Bloober Team with "The Medium" where they have surpassed themselves.    … Expand

    Review for Project XTalk, as we are not yet considered "Critics" - Myself and another co-host finished The Medium in 2 settings and we were both blown away. From a graphical standpoint, the game is beautiful. There are a few technical issues with frame pacing, texture loading, occasional stutters and stiff character animations but the beautiful and details environment, mixed with rayReview for Project XTalk, as we are not yet considered "Critics" - Myself and another co-host finished The Medium in 2 settings and we were both blown away. From a graphical standpoint, the game is beautiful. There are a few technical issues with frame pacing, texture loading, occasional stutters and stiff character animations but the beautiful and details environment, mixed with ray tracing really immerses yourself in the world. The audio is beautiful with the soundtrack really setting the tone, especially towards the end of the game with some of the most stellar tracks I've heard in a game. In terms of gameplay, this game isn't for everyone. it is a "walking simulator" in the absolute best way possible. The puzzles are simple but the exploration of the world really helps build it out. You get invested in Marianne's story which becomes very personal. The story is easily the best part of The Medium and this is easily Bloober Team's best game to date. While the game isn't scary apart from one jump scare, the dual reality mechanic, the gameplay loop and the story keep you playing. The game is relatively short at 8 hours and never feels like it has overstayed its welcome. I gave The Medium a 9/10 but my cohost only an 8/10. Therefore, we are giving our review an 8.5/10 and a highly recommend if you're a fan of this genre.… Expand

    Very good game with some flaws.

    Well completed this on the series x and found the narrative to be very good. The graphics are not a great leap forward and can look a bit pixelated in places but i think that was intentional. The main character is a little bit wooden for my tastes and the walking mechanics can be somewhat annoying. Where the came works well in is the story line with is    Very good game with some flaws.

This is a good effort from the Blooper team and with each game they get better and you think what will they do with a better budget/support.     Great story, graphics and mature content, memorable characters but rather poor and stiff main character animations. Art design is beautiful, especially spirit world. All and all a great game. Good job Bloober team.

    Este juego no es bueno porque si consideras que el número de horas supera las 10, entonces tenemos que ver otros juegos con más de 10 horas, como los juegos de caminar u otros juegos que no lo hacen, pero en este caso es el caso.

    This is a great horror game. If you like the first entries of franchises like Silent Hill and Siren, you probably gonna enjoy this game. It’s a very promising IP indeed!

    tl;dr: The game is not long, maybe 7/8 hours, but it didn't need to be, the puzzles weren't overly taxing to the point that it would break the immersion and I needed to look up solutions and the atmosphere made you want to continue to solve the puzzle.

    I played this game in about 4 sittings, which covered the "Acts" of the game, and I always wanted to get back into it, and it never felt    tl;dr: The game is not long, maybe 7/8 hours, but it didn't need to be, the puzzles weren't overly taxing to the point that it would break the immersion and I needed to look up solutions and the atmosphere made you want to continue to solve the puzzle.

    Only drawbacks were that the ending had a bit of a cookie cutter feel, although executed well, and there was one jump scare that felt cheap near the beginning that felt a bit out of place and did worry me but thankfully this was unfounded.

    If you enjoy easy-enough, logical puzzle games and games with atmosphere that have a story with purpose, then this game should definitely be on your radar.

    Now onto the finer details with no spoilers;
    - The mechanic revolves around the protagonist existing in two planes; the human world and the spirit world, and tasks you with solving puzzles that can, and often do bridge between the two worlds. With the ability to go from one to the other (Sometimes by choice, others not so much) without loading screens and sometimes running simultaneously alongside each other. This was incredibly impressive and actually adds a layer to the game that you wouldn't normally think about, the worlds looked real, and their interaction with each other made them feel properly connected.

    - Graphics are really good, pretty much what you would expect at base from a Series X game at present, crisp, clear, ray tracing (although with the mirrors being a window to the other world it renders as it would normally do in previous generations). The spirit world looks especially creepy and twisted and is very atmospheric. Not much else to say about those really.

    -Gameplay is what you would expect from a point and click adventure these days, in that you control the character around a series of fixed camera angle (Resident evil 1-3 style) and look at things and solve puzzles in the world. No combat to speak of, but there is a few monsters that you need to navigate via puzzle solving. The puzzles are difficult enough to get the gears turning, but not so difficult that it breaks the immersion. They are all basic logic puzzles, no frills but they are interesting and incorporate the worlds in interesting ways. I really enjoyed the intricacies of the gameplay and the different styles of puzzle to unlock the wider storyline.

    -The Story is interesting; the mystery of the Niwa hotel and solving the mystery of the protagonists powers. A lot of twists and turns and I will warn you; the game is NOT a happy one, it deals with a LOT of things that are serious subjects, and doesn't put them in any light. Marianne in contrast, having dealt with a lot of things of a similar nature due to her powers can be quite upbeat and it breaks up the serious elements nicely, along with the inclusion of the childlike innocence of Sadness bucking the trend of scary little girls in video games being the bad guy, although her story becomes very apparent and eye opening as the game goes on. The atmosphere of this game is for the most part very good, the music is subtle and suspenseful, the game takes full advantage of HDR to create an atmosphere, rather than just a random extra. There is one jump scare, near the beginning of the game (I think hour 2 maybe?) that was cheap, in my opinion, and took me out of the game a bit, but that was the only thing i can say felt like that, and once that's done we had a very good game on our hands.

    -The Pacing of the game is fairly consistent in its increase from a slow, cautious stroll into a canter when things start coming together to a full blown spring to solve the mystery held within. No real issues, although chase scenes were a bit jarring at times.

    -The ending (Without spoilers) is well executed, if a little bit cookie cutter in terms of the actual ending story. It intertwines nicely with a lot of things that happen throughout making the game feel full, for want of a better term, everything that happens in the game had a purpose and an explanation and by the end you definitely understand why.

    I gave it an 8 as, although the ending is a bit cookie cutter, the story seems to have been written around this reveal, rather than tacked onto the end for a "Feels Factor", clues were spread throughout the game and if you looked for the wider story beats, you will keep finding yourself having "oh damn" moments when things that are seemingly innocent and disconnected suddenly become very connected and very important. It seems like a small thing but I think the jump scare that happens early on is very cheap in an otherwise thick, atmospheric game and it did take me out of the immersion for just a bit, and made me very cautious of what may be to come, but thankfully they seemed to have realised that it wasn't a great idea and swiftly moved on from it.    … Expand

    good game, very interesting, great design, short but I think its duration is adequate for what they wanted to tell. It has some performance issues and clunky controls, but it doesn't affect the experience.

    Un juego increíble aunque no para todo el mundo. Este tipo de novelas graficas, si ese es el genero, nunca a sido de mis preferencias pero este juego me encanta tanto ambientación como historia. La jugabilidad es impecable si se usa un mando (joystick).

    Si eres un jugador al que le gusta tomarse con calma los videojuegos, tratar de disfrutarlos al máximo y te gusta el tipo de género del que trata The Medium, te recomiendo jugarlo, es una experiencia muy buena y con la cual se pasan horas bastante entretenidas, eso sí, el juego es corto pero con la suficiente capacidad de mantenerte enganchado al mismo hasta que sin darte cuenta te loSi eres un jugador al que le gusta tomarse con calma los videojuegos, tratar de disfrutarlos al máximo y te gusta el tipo de género del que trata The Medium, te recomiendo jugarlo, es una experiencia muy buena y con la cual se pasan horas bastante entretenidas, eso sí, el juego es corto pero con la suficiente capacidad de mantenerte enganchado al mismo hasta que sin darte cuenta te lo pasas.     To start with The Medium has fantastic mechanics from the way the split the screen view to switch between worlds everything just works so well.
    The atmosphere really draws you in and at certain moments you really do feel the dread that's encroaching on you.

    The visuals & voice acting is beyond what i was expecting, finding out more of the story as you go along is such a treat.

    It's short too... 6 hours and you will have it beat with no reply needed.

    I feel there's too many people with their xbox tinted specs on hoping for that blockbuster exclusive game we've all been waiting for but this ain't it. Give it a go if you must on game pass but don't buy it! You will be very disappointed.    … Expand

One example of a good puzzle is the room in the bunker where player needs to initiate an out of body experience as a decoy to clear the path and then quickly return to body. This could be used a lot more, especially with envirommental puzzle, imagine time sensitive dual reality Portal-like puzzle. Also there needs to be at least a basic form of combat, character advancement, etc. The story just plays itself out, player does not matter, has no choice, no influence and it looks as if the game does not even try to immerse the player. The story itself, i quite like it. Although there are too many names thrown around without faces to associate them with, so it can be confusing. Environmental storytelling is great. Graphically the game is fine-ish, but could use a bit of polish in certain areas and most certainly not what I expect from next gen AAA title. Many animations are jaggedy a.f. and glitchy, what I often notice in Unreal Engine games, however some cutscenes are great. Some camera angles and frequent switching of them when navigating environment is very annoying and makes it hard to realize where in a room you actually are. What I like about this game is its *great concept a its great potential*. I like what this game could be, not what it is. I often found myself thinking of new mechanics that could be introduced, it’s almost as if the game invites you to add something to its world, make your own little version of it in your head, which I find fascinating. While dual-reality gameplay is a great technical showcase, I actually think the quality of the content suffered because of it. By essentially making the environments twice and spending resources on it, I imagine a lot of content had to be cut. If this had another 2 years of development it would be a terrific game. Ultimately I will gladly give Bloober another chance, but they need to hold their ground and do not succumb to pressures from publisher. It was a mistake rushing this and advertising it as a AAA launch title, when clearly, it wasn’t even finished. If only it was less ambitious.… Expand

    Es un juego que no desepciona la historia es profunda y te sientes atrapado de inicio a fin, la forma con la que juega con la narrativa es genial y la historia es muy interesante por lo que te sientes con la necesidad de terminarla, y te hace rejugarla sin importar cuantas veces la has terminado.

    A very enjoyable campaign with some striking visuals, and some very well-written characters. The voice acting is top-notch as well. If you're on Xbox, this is a must-play.

    But after release of the Medium I decided to check metacritic before throwing ma money in the screen, because, well, I have responsibilities and try to avoid impulsive purchases.
    People was writing that game was boring and meh overall. I started having second thoughts and didn't bought it. Then I got game pass as a women's day present and I got opportunity to check the game for free basically.
    And now I want to also buy it, so it will stay in my collection.
    It's beautiful, and perfect for people that enjoy similar stuff (well duh that's why genres exist)
    I'm giving this game 10, because it doesn't deserve the ~70% score it has now, and I want to push the rating a bit. Now, objectively it's probably 9, but still!)

    [STORY] is interesting and all tangled in a good way. I was rereading in-game notes of different characters to understand the chronology and events, and it was part of the fun.
    [DESIGN] I'm sorry, but I can't stand whining about graphics. I believe that design is far more important. And artists behind this piece did really good job!
    [GAMEPLAY] Split screen for different worlds? Fresh and new. Puzzles? It's like Syberia, but on easy setting. I have found it very comforting, because I was invested in the story and atmosphere. For me hard annoying puzzles tend to ruin all the fun, when I have a story to worry about. If you wanna play hard puzzles, please play Baba is You for example.
    [IS IT SCARY] This CANNOT be universal.
    I personally felt uneasy about the main monster, it has just hit the spot. But also I've heard about people getting pissed off because of the uhh.. scary disturbing events in story? I'm sorry again, but this is a horror! If you are relatively easy triggered, pretty please, just don't play/watch/read horrors, okay? And for the record, there's nothing, not a single line or word in dialogues or notes, that would say anything controversial OR like even pronouncing "bad" words/names of universally bad things. Dialogues made with attention to this, and leave a very precise feeling that yeah of course, BAD things are BAD. And once again, it's a horror, you can't be scared without some nerve-tickling hints and meanings.

    [TLDR]
    - Should you try it?
    Do you like "walking simulators" story driven games, like Dear Esther, Everybody Gone to the Rapture, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, What Remains of Edith Finch? Then YES, definitely.
    - Don't like those? Please just don't play the Medium then, you will end up giving it low rating, just because it's not your genre.
    - Unfamiliar with those games I mentioned?
    Well ask yourself if you are up to watching a movie (sometimes intense, again, it's a horror) and making choices along the way.

    Great original story. Character development was good. Atmosphere was great. The ending was meh. Only glaring issue is the lack of gameplay. A game can be an artful masterpiece without being a walking simulator.

    This is a really great game and people who say otherwise probably didn't get far into the game itself. Yeah there were some artifacting on certain parts of the game when I played it pre patched but other than that I think it was a masterpiece storywise. It's one of those games that messes with your mind.

It looked at times, mostly it just looked like a last gen game. There were a lot of cheap deaths where the controls were just not responsive enough or it wasnt obviouse where you could move which was annoying. This is more of a 7.5 than an 8 to me. For the most part the story flowed smoothly with logical puzzles that could be solved. A few times i looked at guides when i was stuck since i dont like wasting time, i think it was the tanks and one other point. There were several times where i got stuck due to movement (running away etc.) Although the game was creepy at times, it never really delivered on true "jump out of your seat" scares. Its more of a sci fi, adventure puzzler.

    Worth playing if you have a series x, there's not much else to push its power at the moment. Its not a game of the year game though, something to play after you finish the games you really want to play.    … Expand

    Its so bored. The mechanics are very rough, the moments where you get scared are few, the only one that really scared me was the one in the bathtub, the others were not intense. It takes a long time to get somewhere because you walk very slowly, you don't run. When you are in both worlds it looks horrible

    The Horror genre is probably the hardest to get right. Despite what I expected going into this, it became more of a mystery with ambience than an outright horror, but I actually enjoyed it more because of this. The story surprised me - it has depth, intrigue and emotion. It takes a while to get completely invested, but it pays off towards the crescendo. I was desperate to progress the story and dive further into the world, and felt that the game would've benefited with less of those instances of trying to force player input for the sake of it. Even the stealth sequences with The Maw felt a little awkward from a gameplay perspective, despite nailing the atmosphere and tension. I do understand that the "walking simulator" style of games isn't for everyone though.    … Expand

    I played this game with the game pass and i have to say, it made me feel warm inside. It's very reminiscent of the original Silent Hill games, with its genius concept, creepy atmosphere and story, and the FIXED CAMERA ANGLES. I'll admit those were kind of frustrating at times, and some of the Save points weren't placed at the best of moments. But overall I had a great experience, and II played this game with the game pass and i have to say, it made me feel warm inside.     Despite clunky animations, repetitive gameplay and some technical issues with the Xbox Series X version, I completed The Medium twice. Its dual-reality design, art direction and brilliant soundtrack often made me stop to take in a view or relish the music. Its mature story and atmosphere reminiscent of Silent Hill helped a lot too. Without hiding where it comes from, it's an experience horror fans won't want to miss, no matter how short. The duality approach is interesting and has enormous potential. I hope that the Bloober Team will get to work on it again and develop it more in-depth.
