Bethesda fans are happy, those who expected it to be something else other than a Bethesda game are disappointed. As for me I am thoroughly impressed and entertained with the first new IP from Bethesda in 25 years. 60fps needs to happen though, if a ROG Ally can do it I know XBox Series can.

The game is simply amazing, from the beginning to the end. I don't give it a 10 because of the amount of loading screen and that you can't actually travel to the planets by yourself or land into the planets, you always have to use the console for it... but the rest of it is amazing. The character customization is mediocre at best which is very confusing as Bethesda has made character customization time and time again yet they cannot deliver a robust and detailed customization system. Most of all this game is hard to look at let alone play because of the egregious lack of smoothness. Exclusive to Xbox Series X, yet it failed to run at 60 FPS. Terrible 30 FPS gameplay that commonly dips below 30. Seamless space exploration was promised yet there are fast travel points and boundaries preventing you from truly exploring space. AI NPCs so god awful, AI in modern day could program it better.

13900ks and 3080 struggles to get 60fps at high settings 1440p.

They could have explored so many cool sci-fi/space settings (such as those found in shows like The Expanse, Babylon 5, Star Trek, etc.) but no they just wanted to do the most milk toast generic trash possible. A literal unread toilet scrubber could write a better setting than this garbage.

Zero effort went into planet design / procedural generation. Examples: anywhere you land on earth is a flat desert…land in the Andes? Flat desert, land in Maria trench? Flat desert. Mount Everest? Flat desert, o by the way, empire state building survived…. How.. JUST HOW. The devs know that is one of the first planets players are going to visit right… right!???

The guns all feel like TRASH and enemies are nothing but bullet sponges and little to no AI at all.

There is literally no exploration at all - just loading screens and fast traveling everywhere. (As many other reviews have pointed out).

So sad to see this game release in such a state - an embarrassment for Microsoft and Bethesda. Worst 100$ I have ever spent.

Anyway this game is a typical Bethesda game. There are a bit of jank and can do with more optimisation. But the gameplay is fun, and the Bethesda RPG elements are all present and it is a game that I can engage in for hours and enjoy it.

Should there be more bug fix? Definitely. Should there be more optimisation? Yes. Will Mods make the game better and allow players to play in the game they want? O man, will they ever.

So for now it is a solid 8/10. And once the mod is fully out and the game is further optimised and bug fixed, it should be a solid 9/10.

And for those who think (or pretend to think) that this is a space sim instead of a space cowboy RPG (if you argue that this is RPG lite I will grant you the point), you really need to go rinse your ear and learn to read and listen.

If you check Steam you’ll see most reviews are positive. These are people that actually played the game.
    - Starfield much like past Bethesda games, MMOs, survival games, starts slow. As you explore the universe you start to find things that really show why Bethesda is so good at creating open world RPGs. But you won’t realize it if you just play the game for a couple of hours.
    - Understand what you are getting into. This is a game where you can find quests everywhere.
With several major quest lines that cover different sci-fi flavors. From Firefly, to Cyberpunk style places, to Interstellar. You can build your own spaceships. Fully mod your armor, weapons. Have multiple bases.
You will find places in space where you will be exploring in Zero G. You will be surprised by some of the events that randomly occur. Despite not being a space sim focused game, you will be surprised by some of the events that will happen to you as you fly around and space combat is indeed challenging and fun. It is not a full space sim but it is enough to give you that feeling.
The “dungeons” vary from caves, industrial complexes, Doom style sci-fi bases as well as star bases and otherë”places” I will not disclose to avoid spoilers. They are diverse and fun to explore. Combat is challenging and fun and as you unlock more skills and get better weapons it becomes more and more entertaining.

Not everything is perfect but the game is stable, mostly bug free.
Is it a perfect game? No. But it does give you the feeling that you are exploring different worlds. Finding interesting things. The huge amount of quests and interesting places to visit really immerse you as you progress. The world building elements such as creating your own ship, bases and so on give you that minecraft/survival game experience. But unlike those other games, this one is filled with NPCs to talk with, quests, immersive environments and of course… space.

I gave it a 1/10 rating, as I believe this reflects the quality of this game. I am extremely disappointed. This is not a fanboy review, I actually played the game extensively.

In particular, the promise that Starfield would be a game for explorers was not kept. The majority of the planets are empty. Exploring these planets is dominated by boredom. The story is also quite shallow and of no particular quality. The graphics are mostly outdated and have nothing to do with next-gen. The character models are often very ugly. Overall, there is no immersion, which is also due to the fact that you have to click through various menus very often and landing on planets manually isn't possible.

If this review is deleted again, I will rate the game again and again. It cannot be that opinions and views are suppressed here. I am a buyer of this game!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have to say, Starfield left me thoroughly unimpressed. With all the hype surrounding this game, I was expecting an epic space adventure that would transport me to new worlds and dazzle me with innovative gameplay. Unfortunately, what I got was a bland and uninspiring experience.

Firstly, let's talk about the graphics. In this day and age, I expected Starfield to offer breathtaking visuals, considering the game's focus on interstellar travel. However, the graphics were subpar, filled with pixelation, muddy textures, and lackluster environments. It was a disappointment to explore various planets that all looked oddly similar, lacking unique characteristics or visual variety.

The gameplay mechanics were equally underwhelming. Starfield promised a seamless blend of exploration, combat, and trading, but everything felt clunky and poorly executed. The controls were unresponsive and often frustrating, making simple tasks feel like a chore. The combat lacked depth and innovation, feeling like a basic copy-paste job from countless other generic space-themed games.

Moreover, the storyline did little to capture my interest. The narrative felt weak and poorly developed, with forgettable characters and predictable plot twists. The quests lacked originality and failed to provide compelling motivations to keep playing.

Another major letdown was the lack of multiplayer or any form of robust online interaction. Starfield claimed to offer a universe filled with countless players to engage with, but it felt incredibly empty and lonely. There was no sense of community or shared experiences, which made the vastness of space feel more like a desolate wasteland.

Finally, the technical issues were abundant. From frequent crashes and game-breaking bugs to long loading times, Starfield felt like a rushed and poorly optimized product. It's evident that Bethesda prioritized releasing the game quickly rather than ensuring a polished and enjoyable experience for players.

In conclusion, Starfield fails to meet the expectations set by its ambitious marketing campaign. Lackluster graphics, clunky gameplay, unremarkable storytelling, and technical issues all contribute to a disappointing gaming experience. Save your credits and explore other galaxies in more engaging and well-executed space-themed games.

Starfield's launch on Xbox is a disappointing endeavor that fails to live up to its lofty promises. From the moment I started playing, it became painfully clear that the game was riddled with technical issues. Glitches, crashes, and frame rate drops were constant companions, making any attempt at immersion a frustrating exercise in patience.

The graphics, touted as a selling point, were underwhelming at best. Textures were muddy, character models lacked detail, and environments felt sterile and lifeless. The supposed vastness of space was reduced to a series of bland and repetitive backdrops, failing to capture the awe-inspiring beauty that one would expect from a game set in the cosmos.

The story, a core element of any role-playing game, was equally disappointing. The plot lacked depth and coherence, with poorly developed characters spouting generic dialogue that did little to engage me. Choices felt inconsequential, and the moral dilemmas presented were shallow and unconvincing. It was as if the developers had hastily thrown together a narrative without putting in the effort to create a truly captivating universe.

Even the gameplay mechanics left much to be desired. The controls were clunky and unresponsive, leading to frustrating combat encounters and awkward movement. The exploration aspect, which should have been a highlight given the game's setting, felt like a chore due to the lack of meaningful discoveries and the prevalence of repetitive fetch quests.

To make matters worse, the game's performance issues were compounded by a lack of optimization. Loading times were excruciatingly long, and the overall experience was marred by constant loading screens, further detracting from any sense of immersion.

In the end, Starfield on Xbox feels like a rushed and unfinished product that was pushed out the door to capitalize on the hype surrounding it. It's a prime example of a game that had potential but was ultimately squandered by a combination of technical shortcomings, lackluster design, and a general lack of polish. As a long-time fan of both RPGs and space exploration games, I can't help but feel deeply disappointed by what could have been a standout title in both genres.

Another hot topic should be how they didn’t completely blow it like Cyberpunk in the aspect the game is completely playable and not broken which is a huge success for the scale of this game and I have to mention that in my 3 days of gameplay I’ve only scratched the surface to this game I mean your talking about possible thousands of hours of gameplay here. Maybe 80-100 hours in the constellation missions but no short of excellence as expected from Bethesda with this title. This game genuinely makes me excited for the completion of Star Citizen as well for any who read this and are curious it has been in development for 10 years with aspirations far surpassing this game and a budget far surpassing this game and any game in history. It’s nice to get a good taste of completed game space exploration to feed my interest of space while Star citizen gets its game further along. And beyond that just to enjoy a marvel from Bethesda yet again. Expand

AI is basically non-existent as bots just stare emotionlessly at you. You may as well not even exist as you empty a clip into the wall next to them. Combat is just as bad to the point I didn't even bother searching for cover, just walk up to the enemy and empty clip in their face. Rince repeat. Load screens happen every other room, place or space you enter. Fast travel is a complete joke. Why even have a spaceship if you're just going to have us fly towards a low res cutout of a planet.jpg. Let's not even get started on the woke propaganda throw in. They/them seriously? Keep your American political nonsense to your own home.

Then the strange overtly positive reviews and comments about this game plastered all over forums. All saying the same one liners with no substance. "Amazing!" "Had a blast!" "I've put (insert amount of hours here) and love it!"

Bit obvious that these are either AI bot accounts or people who've been paid to spread such absolute nonsense.

Nowhere near as good as Fallout or Skyrim on any level. Starefield is just a rushed overhyped clown world joke. Don't bother.

New Atlantis is the first major city you visit and there is no immersion whatsoever. Npcs don't even board the trains again just walking in circles until you turn around and they magically dissappear. This is supposed to be next Gen yet it can't even do what oblivion did many years ago. Why remove all the features from the old games and instead add quantity over quality? Npcs repeat their lines over and over and it's very noticeable since they only have a few lines of dialog before they start repeating. The space exploration is non existent. You cannot fly the ship off of a planet and fly to another but it's instead all done by pointing and clicking to fast travel. Again no immersion at all. No man's sky actually meets you seamlessly fly from ground to space to another planet all in real time and this next Gen game can't even do it. It's very boring. The graphics also look like an Xbox one game. This game was designed for that system and not the series x and it truly shows. They lied and said this was an rpg with you having ultimate freedom but that's another sweet little lie (out of hundreds) from Todd Howard. Thankfully the game is on game pass so you don't have to waste your money on such a big let down lie if a game. Xbox has fumbled that football yet again after halo infinite and red fall. More like red fail and starfailed. I was more excited for this game than anyone and literally oblivion and skyrim let you do so many things that this game doesn't have like the npcs having schedules and not just walking in circles doing nothing. The game is also riddled with loading screens for literally everything you do. And they aren't just short load screens they're very long. Try it on game pass or just wait a long time and hopefully Bethesda can fix and add all the things they left out. Expand

It's not a space sim like Elite or Star Citizen. It is exactly what Bethesda promised. Space Skyrim. Like Skyrim, Fallout and No Man's Sky mixed and well presented in a jar of new and juicy RPG action. The performance is great, but don't expect it to be much fun without a proper system.

But it is starfield.Even elite dangerous si more like "starfield".The game even released 10 years ago. It has numerous galaxies that allow for seamless movement within a stellar system.

Bethesda is known for great titles, although Skyrim and Fallout 3, it is also true that it has stopped in time, with its engine and has terrible quality control in its games.

It's unfortunate that we still see so-called new generation games with countless loadings, invisible walls and many, many bugs.

No wonder it's not uncommon to see people refer to Bethesda as Bugthesda.

It's just unfortunate that after 3 years of new generation Microsoft can't show what the Series X came from and justify a reason to have one.

Starfield is the embodiment of 'tried to do too much and ended up doing nothing right.'

It's like they handed Skyrim space gear and said, 'Fly, my Dragonborn!' but forgot to give it wings or a functional jetpack.

    Open World:
Starfield is a stale, soulless “world,” that feels disconnected.

Everything is locked behind a loading screen and the game doesn't have an "open world" to navigate and experience. You jump from objective to objective via the UI like some sort of CoD Campaign. You are not in control of flying your ship between systems, landing your ship, departing from settlements, attempting risky docking to board other ships. Everything is a fast travel cut-scene initiated via a key-bind or through the confusing UI.

You read that right. There is no traveling, landing, or exploring to do on your own. When you are “in orbit” around a “planet” you can’t go anywhere; no matter how long you fly for you are no closer to the planet you see ahead of you than before. That’s because being “in orbit” around a “planet” only serves as a “placeholder;” an enclosed waiting zone to open the UI and choose where to fast travel next. There is no open space to navigate. Everything is done via cutscenes which only make you hungry for more. Why can’t I fly my ship wherever I want to in a System? Why can’t I manually find a spot on a planet and land there myself? One click on the map and you suddenly teleport to Neon city. Where is the awe of discovering it by yourself through exploration?

This makes Starfield feel more like a collection of maps/dungeons with no clear link between each other, rather than a connected and breathing world. It's like playing Skyrim, but you are only allowed to teleport between dungeons through the map interface - without the open world in-between.

    Cities:
Like space, cities feel disconnected and non-immersive. New Atlantis, for instance, is not even a unified city. Instead, cities are split into various parts requiring you to fast travel between each district. Other than soulless “citizen” NPCs walking aimlessly around with no schedule, nothing of interest is going on to justify having so many loading screens.

In addition, almost every single building or shop has a loading screen to access, which is very weird since 90% of buildings with interiors are basically just an empty lobby with one shopkeeper. This makes simple fetching quests a nightmare. You have to go through 5 different loading screens just to deliver a package from one part of the city to another.

    Spaceship:
It feels like they wasted all these resources for the Spaceship builder, yet neglected adding gameplay that will make your spaceship meaningful. Space traveling, planet exploration, landing/docking mechanics, and fuel planning - just to name a few. As it stands right now, your spaceship is just a storage locker between your UI fast travels. It is so tedious to fast travel that you may end up not seeing your spaceship for hours during a playthrough, since you instantly teleport to the selected locations and spawn outside your ship. To see your ship and add “immersion,” you would need to add 3 more loading screens to your fast travels. Pointless, since you have no control over anything. You only get to watch the game do everything for you via cutscenes.

    Combat:
It’s… working. Like in any basic first-person shooter game. There are no “classes” or anything else that will make you think “Damn, on my next playthrough I am gonna play as X and Y.” You can tell by the Skill Points you get to allocate that all Traits offer small bonuses to combat (e.g., deal 10% more damage with Pistols) that add no distinctive gameplay or new combat mechanics. They are just… flat bonuses to damage, health, persuasion, ship damage. Class-wise, the only option you have would be to either play a ranged build or a (hardly viable) melee build. That’s it.

    Outpost Building:
Barebones and clunky. We will most probably see paid DLCs adding props and things to expand building, like they did with Fallout 4 (they released 3 paid workshop DLCs).

    Land Vehicles:
Yep, they did it too. The only way of traversing is by foot – no land vehicles/rovers exist in the future. Fast Traveled to a planet in a super-ship? Now you need to jog like clown for 1200m in a barren and empty wasteland just to reach an enemy encampment. Be careful not to go too far or you’ll hit an invisible wall.

    Story:
As soon as you launch the game, you are given a ship, a place to stay, and suddenly a full organization blindly trusts you – which is very off-putting. This feels like a big “roleplaying” part of the game is cutout.

    Graphics:
Starfield feels like a texture-enhancement Fallout 4 mod. There is little improvement between Starfield and Fallout 4.

Even worse these tiny maps are just random generation environments with the same 3 or 4 dull activities randomly scattered across the map/planet. Scan, scan some more, scan some more and occasionally do dome shooting and lasering same thing and the enemies just run at you and stand in front of you. Or just randomly run from random points. At first I was enjoying the game learning the system , but after 10 hours I was just doing the same thing over and over on similar looking areas. This all might be OK if the story and characters carried you through, but its all modern cringe writing with this ugly unappealing characters we find in so many modern games. After not long I was just skipping dialogue in hopes I could enjoy the game systems..But its just shallow. Leveling is just picking perks, that's it! and then there are few generic crafting chores. Basic stuff where you can't build nothing until you pick the perk then you can use some of that useless junk that weighs you down to make more useless junk cause the game still has to be fair if you dont do crafting.
At first I liked the combat but after not long your just fighting the same red human dudes and handful of alien animals that a spread across all the planet/maps.
Off course then there the woke stuff. Yeh it's all there and it's and crap as it always is.Ugly unappealing chicks everywhere , female empowerment with all leaders being butch and manly woman.. It's not the game they promised, it's full of bugs, poor performance, outdated graphics engine, constant loading times, limited and boring, simple interface menus. It's not what it should have been.

Superb game. Classic bethesda work. A game that you can play for decades. Will be even better with mod support.

El juego es un aburrimiento las animaciones son de pena y esta todo lleno de fallos técnicos y el apartado visual parece de generación anterior, los npc cuando hablan los labios no están sincronizados con el sonido

Unoptimised piece of crap. Especially after BG3 this game feels like a beta version of an rpg

Game about the space without the space. They could've added at least fake loading screens to create a feeling of flight, but instead we see black loading screens over and over, it kill immersion completely. Facial animation is terrible, graphics looks dated, planets exploration is pointless. It could be a good game maybe 10 years ago, but not today.

Loading simulator, animations from 2005. No normal cosmic flight and battle in cosmic game... cool-__

In Starfield, you play as Starborn. The graphics, combat, menus, UI, UX, enemy AI, ally AI, map design, cities and ambience is **** The word **** doesn't do justice to how bad it is.
Lots of re-used assets, such as sounds from Skyrim and Fallout 4, a true magnum opus from Bethesturd and Turd Howard, requiring only the best hardware possible if you even want to dream of achieving 30 fps.

This game also suffers from the deadly and terminal "Millenial Twitter" writing, with quirky characters who wont stop babbling about inane subjects in the most boring and predictable way possible. Every single character is insufferable.
Let's not even talk about how this is a glorified Fetch simulator with absolutely no freedom to do whatever you want, no way to impact the story, no alternate routes, nothing. In a way, it's more Mass Effect: Andromeda and Ubisoft than it is Bethesda. That's really bad.
There is not a single reason to play this game. You enjoy atmospheric space games? Go play No Mans Sky
You enjoy Bethesda games? Go play Skyrim
You enjoy every category that this game is a part of? Me too. I hate this game.

One of the worst games I’ve ever played, the load times are absolutely horrendous and the open worlds are dead and the A.I is so stupid. The loading screens are the worst I’ve ever seen, just about anything you involves a loading screen it’s like the game came from the PS3/360 era.

Tried it on my Samsung, You can see that the people that worked on Skyrim is long gone. Buggy, horrible npc models, bad AI, boring landscapes, long load times. This is everything Skyrim isn't. What happened to Bethesda?

My honest review was removed for NO REASON. is this how you want to play Bethesda!? So be it. THIS GAME IS TRASH. But what is even more shocking Bethesda/MS are deleting negative reviews. If thats not enough after all the 10/10 "game of a generation" scam nonsense reviews!?

It's a big game, but starts way too slowly, and may never get interesting.

It is true that you'll find a good number of barren wastelands with little to do other than extracting some resources and take off to more interesting places, but again it really depends on how you want to play. There's so much to do, so many systems and abilities to explore, missions to complete, spaceships to loot, and species to catalogue, that I honestly don't think there's anybody who thinks that exploring every square meter of this universe is the better way to enjoy Starfield.

While it has weak spots and doesn’t push many boundaries, Starfield is still an excellent RPG experience. Bethesda has once again mastered the things it built its reputation on – world building, quest design, and deep customization. However, it’s found new things to excel at too, with exciting combat and a novel implementation of New Game Plus.
