The game really opens up after the first hour or so. While it may be daunting having 1000 planets and moons thrust on you, its really well structured. It's also my first Bethesda game. While the graphics are nothing to boast about, the voice acting, scope and story more than make up for any wonky animation or NPCs.

Best game for Xbox series x on this month
    So on to the positives
    - The game, of course, has bugs, but when compared to Fallout 4 at release, there are significantly fewer of them. - The storyline is generally ordinary, but I personally really liked the ending. - Many additional tasks - the music theme of the game is very beautiful - Interesting visual style And now to the cons -

    And now to the cons
    - Bugs (yes, I considered both pros and cons) in any case, there were 2 crashes from the game (which is not very pleasant)
And 2 minor bugs and damn one critical one due to which I had to return the save for 30 minutes back

After logging 79 hours since early access I think this game is truly amazing with a few issues. The pros:
-Shipbuilding is an extremely fun time trying to create things you’ve seen in movies or whatever your imagination can think of.
-The side quests is really deep and a lot more engaging than the main story, you can earn a lot of amazing things. -The more perks you earn can make the game

-The side quests is really deep and a lot more engaging than the main story, you can earn a lot of amazing things.
-The more perks you earn can make the game a lot more enjoyable. That why I believe you should just complete the main story first to get NG+ and carry them over to your next playthrough focusing on outposts and side quests.
-The map you get when you land is actually quite big.
-A lot of random encounters throughout the game. Especially ones that can happen after completing some little tiny mission that has no significance at all.
-The backgrounds in creation center are very helpful so pick one that you want to use throughout the game

Cons -The main story is mid but can still be enjoyable because it’s kinda unique once you find out what happens towards the end.
-The games is only 30FPS and has no FOV slider and lacks really any “next gen” features. With that being said it does run really smoothly with 30fps.
-I ran into some bugs but nothing major at all. Like for example a body making noise while it’s dead on the ground because it’s clipped into something.

I know this game is really fun because I’ve played it and actually paid attention in the menus and know how to use certain things (a lot of people seem to be complaining about things not being in the game when they quite literally are lol) The game looks dated but is Bethesda’s best looking game so far and improved in areas and added things I thought I’d never see in a Bethesda game that are accessible through the perk’s system.

The fast travel doesn't really bother me that much but it can get a little repetitive if a mission tree sends you to multiple planets in a row so you're just going back and forth.

Also, 10 hours is not enough to properly review this game to the full. I feel like this is going to be a game that I play for a very long time and I am so looking forward to continue my journey.

Also I've been playing on the Xbox series S and the game has been smooth, with only 1 major freeze that I had to restart the game. But I think that's because my Xbox got hot after a 6 hour long session during a heat wave in a stuffy room.

Overall, Starfield is a very solid game that is definitely big enough for it's price. It's not perfect but I can accept that the team behind Starfield had to cut some things back to allow the game to be this big. I would probably give an 8.5 if metacritic had that option.

Enemy AI is good and this is really the most polished BGS Game ever. Played this on both series S and PC and no bugs yet. About 30 hours in and loving my experience! I cannot stop playing. Yes, the game lacks the No Man Sky space exploration and the seemless function of flying to and from planets. It is underwhelming that this was not a player feature provided. Honestly, I do not see anyone flying to and from planets they are revisiting and this is where the fast travel works. It just would have been great to have the option. Facial animations are not bad at all and are sometimes even as good as Cyberpunk 2077. However, there are those which come off as robotic. Furthermore, the stink eye NPC's showed off all online are merely the NPC's that fill up the world's pollution, you would not be interacting with them at all and does not break immersion. Stop being fooled by the hate train from console warriors! The lack of a functioning map with icons for a simple thing as a vendor to pinpoint and find my way would have been great. The game pushes and encourages exploration but at the same time limits it. The lack of a land vehicle or land rover/mech to at least accompany you to locations would have been great especially when you become encumbered by loot. And you will pick up so MANY things! Then we have the empty procedural planets, I feel like these are meant for modders. I think many people forget that Todd Howard confirmed that only 10% of the 1000 planets would have life and interesting things. I do not see myself exploring all these though there could be many mysteries the developers put out there...its just a matter of finding them.
Lastly, wish there was XP points for completing the skill tree challenges.

Other than that, space combat and ship customization is epic! You could lose yourself here. All in all a solid showing from Bethesda and a very fun game to play. As it stands a solid 8.5 for me! Looking forward to expansions and DLC!

Ignore all the fake reviews from PlayStation fanboys, this is an enjoyable game and comparatively quite stable for a newly released Bethesda game.

One downside is having no vehicles for planet exploration, which I hope Bethesda can add in a future update. In saying that, fast travel is quite easy for already explored locations so this is only problematic for newly discovered planets.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. By no means GOTY, its still a fun game. Yes, lots of loading screens (which you can usually avoid if you use the fast travel correctly) Barren planets, eh, not so much theres still plenty to find and loot on them, there just isn't a civilization or hub for the planet. A good mix of weapons, weapon mods, armour mods etc. NPCs are definitely Bethesda ones, but we all know what thats like. The story and quests are fun, plenty of humour, loads of faction questlines, and even some big questlines from companions or some random woman in a bar that took me on a 6 hour tangent. Not to mention the ship building, great amount of customisation. No we cant fly everywhere in space or land ourselves, but I'd go and play Elite dangerous or Starcitizen for that, this is space skyrim. Expand

The beginning is very slow, you really need a couple hours to get into it.
Ive experienced a couple of severe bugs which forced me to reload an older save.
Except a couple of fps drops when loading an area it runs very smoothly for me on an rtx 3070.
Now ofc releasing a not finished game is a disgusting business practice and truly despicable.

But its common practice now isnt it?

So looking past that, Ive experienced a great game with a lot of great stories, I like the gunplay, I like jumping around with a jetpack in different gravities and I like the immense variety the Planets offer.
Theres a cyberpunk planet, a cowboy planet, a boring "perfect" world planet, a beach planet and I feel like ive barely seen 10% of it all.

    Overall its fun
Its not perfect, its bugged its big and takes you time to get into it but its not as bad as other players want you to believe.
    Solid 8.

**spoilers** the random encounters are still Bethesdaesque great, the Colonyship from 2100 that wants to colonise a planet but comes too late becaues they travelled for 200 Years? Or you becoming a Spy for the Government, undermining the Space Pirates just because I stole some stupid Item? Great Fun
Remember running into Soltitude and seeing the beheading of some guy? Now theres Hostages in a Bank and you can be the one to intervene, with sword or word.

Thats just great, I like it

Would recommend you getting it as part of your gamepass experience (on a side note, likening it to the failure of Redfall is so far off the mark it’s embarrassing).

Starfield is a decent game. Not "great" by any means, but it's alright. The quests are engaging and interesting for the most part, if perhaps a bit unimaginative and cliche.

The graphics are looking VERY dated on the current game engine. The graphics aren't bad, per se, but they definitely look like they're from 2 console generations ago, not a good look for a game published in 2023.

The graphics aren't bad, per se, but they definitely look like they're from 2 console generations ago, not a good look for a game published in 2023. Looks like they designed the entire thing around the engines that were available when they began development, and never updated when better technology became available.

I completely agree with other reviewers in the sentiment that the game is vast, but extremely lacking in content outside of the handful of "established" settlements. Now that's probably a realistic take on how things would be, exploring the galaxy in a starship, sure...but it just doesn't make for a "fun" experience for a video game.

The controls, man, now those are gawd awful. They are a clunky feeling, horrible mess. Sure, you can get used to them, eventually...but man they just don't feel good. The game feels just...well....clumsy and clunky. The controls in a game should be pretty much off your radar as a player...being so intuitive that you really don't think about what you're pressing to do things. Starfield is not like that at all, the interface (and navigating around it) feel awkward at the best of times; and frustrating and annoying at the worst of them.

The loading screens, and forced "cinematics" (docking, undocking, landing, etc.) are exceedingly annoying and if there were a way to simply turn them off, I feel most players would. It's annoying and I believe that most players cannot stand them after the first 1-2 times of seeing them.

So all-in-all, Starfield has promise, but currently it falls flat. Perhaps they can pull a No Man's Sky and turn it around with a little effort. We'll see.

That and a more engaging main story – again it’s not bad, but it isn’t great. Try it on GamePass or wait for a reasonable sale. Personally I think I will shelve this one until a complete edition comes out in a few years at a reasonable price. There are so many other games to play right now.

It's a big game, but starts way too slowly, and may never get interesting.

It is true that you'll find a good number of barren wastelands with little to do other than extracting some resources and take off to more interesting places, but again it really depends on how you want to play. There's so much to do, so many systems and abilities to explore, missions to complete, spaceships to loot, and species to catalogue, that I honestly don't think there's anybody who thinks that exploring every square meter of this universe is the better way to enjoy Starfield.

While it has weak spots and doesn’t push many boundaries, Starfield is still an excellent RPG experience. Bethesda has once again mastered the things it built its reputation on – world building, quest design, and deep customization. However, it’s found new things to excel at too, with exciting combat and a novel implementation of New Game Plus.
