Jan 6, 2026Neon Inferno is a challenging game with a cracking amount of enjoyment to it. Couch co-op helps, as does the stiff challenge, but that does mean you’ll need to put in the work in order to get through everything it has to offer.

Nov 19, 2025Neon Inferno stands out amongst the sea of other pixel-art 2D shooters. It leans into what makes these kinds of games good and doesn’t rely on nostalgia. It brings unique mechanics and a great presentation to round out the package. If you are like me and roll your eyes when another “one of those” is announced, this deserves your attention. The developers have done a great job of mixing the right amount of nostalgia with a core experience worth diving into.

May 21, 2026In the end, Neon Inferno is a largely decent action romp that never comes close to the classics of the genre it clearly has deep respect for. It certainly looks the part, and that may be enough for some nostalgia driven gamers to give it a whirl, but it’s hard not to feel like it’s outclassed by its inspirations.
