Nov 1, 2023While there are not a lot of upgrades to the games themselves, this collection accomplishes what it set out to do. This package is convenient. We can finally have these games in one place on modern consoles and readily available to play. I think that is something we overlook with some remasters. Being able to just play them without jumping through hoops to get them to work. The price seems steep upfront, but there are five games and tons of variations included. There is a lot of content here and for hardcore MGS fans like me, it is great having all this in one place. I am loving revisiting these games and cannot wait for Vol. 2, please let MGS 4 finally be released from its one console prison.

Nov 6, 2023The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 on Xbox Series X|S is one compilation you cannot miss out on.

Nov 8, 2023The games in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 stand the test of time. They remain delightful. However, for the price, Konami should make a more significant effort to preserve these games. Still, it will surely be desirable to fans with its addition of concept art and documents about creating these gems.

Oct 31, 2023Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is a compilation that includes the first games of the Metal Gear Solid series, with some customization options and minor improvements. Although they are not remasters or have significant changes, the games are still excellent in their story and gameplay. This collection can be a good way to start in the franchise or relive its best moments, but it can also disappoint those who expected more from Konami.

Oct 29, 2023Cult video game saga, Metal Gear Solid remains equal to itself and this compilation reminds us of all the qualities of the works of Japanese creator Hideo Kojima. Let it be said, it's a real pleasure to do each episode in chronological order (or not) and to relive some of the most epic moments in video game history (yes, yes, we can say...). But on the other hand, with such a series available, we cannot help but rail against the absence of certain elements (Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes to name but one) and a technique which would have deserved a best treatment. Konami's initiative is not bad in itself, but we keep the bitter feeling that they recovered the HD Collection by dusting it off slightly to create this compilation. After all, these video games will forever remain pure masterpieces and it can be a wonderful opportunity to (re)discover them.

Oct 27, 2023Metal Gear Solid is back after more than eight years. Konami decided to start safely and prepared a collection of older but iconic installments. The Master Collection package is loaded with additional content and is certainly a treat for Kojima fanatics, but at the same time it's hard to shake the feeling it's all a bit of an afterthought.

Nov 10, 2023Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 presents Kojima's genius in a package that could, and should, have been so much more. There's a bunch of stellar games to dig into here, you're guaranteed a great time once you're actually playing this iconic series, but this is a franchise that deserved more. Where's the TLC? Where's the resolution bumps, refined controls, visual upgrades and so on? Konami has managed to add a few nice extras, and there's a good showing in terms of how many titles are packed in here, but the overall performance and presentation, given the power and potential at the dev's disposal, leaves much to be desired.
