Aug 15, 2023With its controls much more suited to the PC than to consoles, Gord is not without flaws in terms of ergonomics and readability, but it largely makes up for it with its tortured atmosphere at will. Survival in a dark fantasy world populated by nightmares is a long succession of tests and crucial choices, especially when madness awaits our units with each new incursion into darkness. Too bad that the strategic stakes impose permanent vigilance on the management side because this is done a little to the detriment of exploration and adventure.

Aug 16, 2023Gord is a fascinating product, both thanks to its imagination and thanks to the playful elements that characterize it. What initially might appear as a rather basic real-time strategy game is actually a sort of colony simulator, which calls for you to face adverse events decisively and to use the available resources wisely. The leading role reserved for micromanagement could be very intriguing for those more accustomed to the genre, less so for newbies. Gord can be exhausting at times, but he certainly offers a unique experience.

Aug 16, 2023The darkness of Gord reminded us of the excellent Cult of the Lamb, but without the irony. The Polish studio Covenant has delivered a first quality title that we clearly did not see coming! The mix of survival, management and horror topped with solid gameplay mechanics works wonders. Additionally, the random events and the way the game unfolds tend to be reminiscent of a board game. However, we do regret the player's lack of involvement in the confrontations, during which we are forced to remain passive with no possible interaction to change the course of the automatic battles.
