Football Manager 2023 Console is a great experience on Xbox once again this year. A meaningfully improved UI helps with navigation and overall accessibility, while the addition of Team Talks along with UEFA Champions League and Europa League branding are welcome new features. It's still missing a few things from the main PC game, but if you can look past that, the console version is great way to get your FM fix this season.

There’s room for improvement in Football Manager 2023 Console, but it’s still a brilliantly addictive experience. Unless you have a gaming PC, this version is a must for any football fan.

Football Manager 2023 adds many improvements to an already proven formula, delivering richer and more varied matches with deeper AI and team management. Too bad for the obsolete graphics during matches, in need of deep enhancement.

As for some reason I can't review the Ps5 version on metacritic, I will have to post my comment here...

The club management part is great but the game is ruined by the match engine and simulation.
Defending correctly is impossible. No matter what you do, your players will rarely press even with pressing settings set as high as possible. Nor will the defenders challenge the ball. They will simply stay close to the opponents player in possession and not do anything. What's even more frustrating is that the opponents defense will actually press and challenge correctly all the time. It feels scripted and most likely is. Don't buy unless it's highly discounted and even then, if you get triggered easily, stay away from this joke of a game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you want to play this game online with your friends, tough! This game has definitely not been thoroughly tested before launch and I'm sick of developers and publishers releasing games that don't work. Can't join friends games, they can't join mine, the one time they could, the recruitment feature can't even be clicked on, neither can the staff option. When the recruitment email came I was kicked upon clicking on it and haven't been able to get back on since. The game is also basically a slightly different colour scheme version of fm22, and even on FM22, you get three seasons into an online save and the game effectively becomes unplayable with people being ki key mid match almost every game. I've had FM for over 15 years and the last few years it has become unacceptably poor. LMA manager 2001 has more features, has a better match engine and is literally a better game, 20 years later! Please get your act together S.I! Expand

Ridiculous more of the same with the same old bugs and scripted matches. Engine is broken, you can’t win in Champions League without PSG or Man City. Had DOZENS of games in Champions League with xG +3 and lost to inferior teams with xG 0.4 for 1 - 0. DOZENS. Won different National Leagues multiple times in Italy, England, Spain and Turkey, so clearly I know how to make a team play. Tired of this, won’t purchase FM next year hoping for something new and different. Graphics is awful, mechanics even worse, body physics good for a 2008 game. Do not waste your money and stay away from this joke. Expand
