Even when performance is everything in a action game.

It's nice to see they brought back some of the main story elements that made the original rather original.
Some tech issues exist (like these annoying light-effect and shadows pop-ups) but I'm sure they're easily fixable.

Game mechanics are the best part of the package and you'll certainly get compelled taking the next mission for another dose of first person running. This is what made first game special, and it's even better here.

Narrative is segmented and gags sometimes, but so does most open-world games with a main campaign in it. Many side missions are less than appealing for new players (while real ME rats would surely try to complete them all).
I don't like collectibles but this game features a bunch for those with a love for time spending activities.

Guess I'm with most of critics pros this time: this game deserves a 7.5 - 8.0. But I'm pushing it to a 9 because I'm a huge fan of the original ME and of Faith, specially now the she's quite the looker. :)

I think, it's exactly what the fans waited for in the last 8 years. Who likes moving in an open world and can dispense with a long epic story and a huge amount of side quests will absorb this game in every way and will have lots of fun with it.

I really wanted to give this game a high score because it is a good game. But it has to be compared to the original and unfortunatley it doesn't live up to that.

The whole place seems even more bland looking than the original. The story is really boring and generic, the open world just means that your either getting lost or trying to follow a red line which ends up feeling even more linear, faith seems to move at a slower pace, the combat is just stupid, mirros edge doesnt need any combat!! And there just arent enough cool memorable levels.

It's still a good game, but i feel they've tried to cater more to the people who didnt like the first one, alienating their fanbase.

Its good still but just play the first one again

Side mission runs are extremely hard because of time constraints and lack of upgrades. Combat is non existent. Here is the cheat code for the hardest enemy: Heavy attack, dodge backwards, wait for attack animation to complete, repeat. I also had frame rate issues on Xbox One during one of the first few cut-scenes. Story is meh. Overall. It met expectations gameplay wise, but not much else. Expand

Combat is a nice change from the first game. It feels very similar to Witcher 3, even though enemies go down a little easy sometimes. And you have the option to avoid it if you so choose.

The atmosphere is probably the biggest plus this game brings to the table. The music works in tandem with everything you are doing, and as usual, Solar Fields hits it out of the park. Glass is the kind of place you want to keep going back to, almost like a vacation.

The parkour feels just as good as it did the first time, and its actually a bit more fluid/ accessible than before.

Don't listen to the hate. If you are a fan, buy it. If you are a newcomer, buy the first game for a few bucks and then decide if you would like to play that in an open world setting.

Mirrors Edge is back and its long overdue. Catalyst is an amazing game, the open world works perfect for this kind of game. The free running continues to be the best in all of gaming. I cant recommend this game enough, at this point its my favorite video game of 2016.

Miles better than the first game, the city is one of the best I've seen in a video game. When you begin to get the hang of the game and start to get really good, it's amazingly fun to run around the open world while doing parkour. Very fun

Beautiful as its predecessor and also faster but after the beautiful intro eventually get bored.
The developers had yet laid seats 8 years and instead you get a boring Sinpleplayer campaign.
For € 30 no shame but not worth the full price.

Bland repetitive world. Despite the repetitive assets, they still manage to make them confusing (which grids you can really open? You don't know until you're really close). The story is cliché, the side quests have just a few lines of meaningful dialog and they're variations of 'go there (quickly or not). The battle rarely feels really good. The graphics are simplistic and the game struggles to stick to the 60fps (I experienced big hiccups of multiple consecutive frames lost playing on an xbox one from an SSD).
The multiplayer content ranges from interesting (the time challenges) to totally idiotic (the beat markers).
But all this would have been forgiven, if the movement was really good. It's good, but not good enough. Some holds are not sticky enough, some too sticky, mostly because there are too many things close to each other so your character will often end up doing something very different than what you intended. And most importantly, you die for the most stupid reasons. Because it's too dark to see where you go. Because there is glass where you thing it's open. Because a game designer hid a 50cm gap behind an object. And when you die? Hello loading screen. This is huge. It breaks the rhythm totally. I was dying 3 times more frequently in ori & the blind forest, but it wasn't breaking the rhythm.
As an end result, I teleported instead of running whenever I had the opportunity. And that says something about a game about movement. Compare that to sunset overdrive, where I must have used teleporting 6 times in 70 hours of gameplay, because going from A to B was always SUPER FUN.

    -plastic
    -Icarus
    -nomad
-The story was better in 2008 it was hardly predictable, unlike this, and a bad romance thing here and there
-MAGRope was uninteresting and ugly, why a runner need this!? I have no clue its not feel I play as a real runner
-the cameras around the city and the BAGS(secret ones) have a really irritating sounds
    -no more 2d cg-s
-Badly optimized frostbite is a p.o.s engine, it would be better with UE4
-ugly characters Icarus (irritating useless guy who always around faith, and talking in radio and he's in faith ass)..,noah (Antonio banderas and retired Nathan drake mixed bad merc copy-cat) nomad ( a lover boy who wants love faith and make ugly graffities) :( no characters was even come close to jackknife or merc,or hell any runners, faith from 2008.
-Most voice acting/actors is so bad especially faith voice is so bad like she didn't even care the act, jules de jongh was perfect in 2008.
-no tattoo signal =emblem on runners artistic (concept) is **** up in characters too, now most of the runner use sunglass, and everyday natural cloth and hairstyle and no woman important runner only faith..
**** up artistically the whole game, (city, characters) drones, drones everywhere, everywhere i look I see drones welcome to the stupid futuristic drones world.
-Well most but not all Music is SO UGLY! what happens with solar field? they make a awesome work back on 2008!
-fighting system is irritating! its way worse in every aspect than 2008 was, cmon i kick the enemy once and he is DEAD!? plus the gamebugs every enemy is stuck in the wall! its fu*** boring.
-Graphics is so bad, every character except the important ones is washed out! the level textures is washed out!, i swear mirrors edge 2008 have a better graphics!
-Rhianna Pratchett did a great job on 2008 unlike the new writer
-Icarus most of time he is there you are, the game would be better with faith alone doing the game missions.
-wow they did it they gived faith a bigger ass.... That was really important right EA/DICE!? ehhh
catalyst is nothing more just a artistically **** up and downgraded version of 2008. Congrats EA/DICE you know how to ruin something good, and special, you really good with that.
-If you are a real mirrors edge fan you not buy this game, at least not full price.
so we waited for this ugliness 8 year!? bravo EA/DICE! BRAVO

    Positive:
-DOGAN! he was interesting (WHAT ELSE IS THERE!)
--Reboot, but at least this nothing to do with 2008 so 2008 was not ruined by this.
    -some side mission, open world.
-isabelle kruger was interesting as well
    -Gabriel kruger
-some music but not all its not a great job like in 2008 was.
    - the story wasn't bad but still like I said up there 2008 was better.
-The game have some memorable moments with faith and dogan, faith and isabelle kruger

Reason I score this a 0 is because I can never figure out where I am supposed to go because I cannot see red very well. I honestly thought there would be a colour blind option available but noooo. The one colour you use to show where to go is red... and even a moment hesitation is enough to fail a mission. So yeah... 0/10 from me... I had more fun with Homefront: The Revolution than this POS.

I haven’t played the original so either I’m in the minority , or they messed it up
Mirrors Edge Catalyst is a prequel to the original game,
This tells the origins story of faith and her sister
It starts out with faith being released from imprisonment and getting back to her runner ways…
This is a bit of an open world game…which after a few hours you’ll realize this was a huge mistake…
In this open world there are collectibles and side missions to do…
But for the most part this open world is just a parkour time waster in between your missions…
Every mission for the most part feels the same…
Climb through vents, run past bad guys..
    rinse repeat…
Because this is an open world.. every obstacle and path on the way to every mission is the same turning this into a repetitive grind to the credits…
There are fast travels points, but they can only be unlocked after you hack certain points in the city.. and even before then you have to earn enough xp to unlock a skill or be far enough in the story to have the skill to reach these hackable spots…
making me believe that the developers actually wanted you to grind through the same sections over and over…
And the parkour is just not fun…
it feels way too slow, like faith is a jogger rather than a runner…
And none of the wall climbs or jump every feel satisfying and will sometimes feel like they aren’t working properly…
Which leads to many deaths in this game…
I rarely ever felt like dying was my fault…
And unfortunately the checkpoints in this game are some of the worst I’ve ever seen
The worst of all though is this games combat...
speaking of worst ive ever seen
The combat in this game is the most garbage and cheap feeling system I can remember suffering through…
you have a light attack and heavy attack..
Meanwhile enemies have batons, guns, and tasers…
The batons and gun enemies aren’t too bad to deal with… but the taser guys block every light attack even when you could have clearly got a strike, leading you to have to spam the triangle button to defeat them,
having to resort to spam attacks in combat is never a good sign…
And there are a handful of sections where you have to defeat waves upon waves of enemies…
And these taser guys are bullet sponges so if you focus on them you’re going to get shot or if you focus on the gun guys you’re going to get shocked…
and once you do finally luck your way to the final waive… if one hidden enemy decides to start shooting while you take on who you think is last and they kill you,
you have to start all the way from the beginning of the encounter…
I really wanted to like this game..
But I’m not even sure if its developers liked this game
because ultimately it feels like it was built as a job and not as a passion...
    I give Mirrors Edge Catalyst
    a 6/10

This game lives up to its name, Exactly what fans have been waiting for, for 8 years. From the beginning the gorgeous graphics and amount of detail Is amazing. When you get the first mission it is hard not to free roam. The best part is the free roaming, dice made the free roaming amazing. You need to expand the story to free roam so you don't go off track. Probably the best game i'v ever played First person H2H Combat is a dream come true Also Mobility is great granted it's a skill tree but that's what makes it so challenging, so you don't start overpowered. I really enjoyed this game. The complaints regarding lack of gameplay variety are valid but I can’t say I really expected or want a ton of variety out of this game. I wanted a parkour game where I can go fast, traverse all over the place, and constantly test myself to find the most efficient route from A to B. And that’s exactly what I got. On top of that, there is a surprisingly deep and well done story here which I was not expecting at all. The game does inevitably get repetitive but it doesn’t overstay its welcome as you can burn through the campaign pretty fast (incredibly fast if you ignore side missions and collectibles).
The clear downsides that I can see after a thorough playthrough of the game are pretty few but the most glaring is the combat. It’s pretty awful. And hilarious. It’s not so bad that it ruins the game at all though simply because I don’t think anyone really jumps into Mirror’s Edge looking for great combat and it also plays a pretty small part in the game but it’s impossible not to notice it’s deficiencies. Some of game’s collectibles are also pretty annoying and pointless. It really seems like something they just threw in at the last minute to extend the game. Fortunately they’re completely optional. The only other thing that I didn’t really like about the game is that some of the side missions and optional objectives require you to have upgrades that you may not have but it doesn’t tell you, which can be aggravating as you’ll have to shelf it and come back later.
But overall, there are way more pros for me than cons. I really enjoyed this game and did not expect the quality and narration that the game’s story has. If you liked the first one, I can’t imagine that you won’t enjoy this one. I feel like it has improved on just about everything that I liked about the original. It’s certainly not an amazing or life altering game or anything, but it’s absolutely an enjoyable experience that I’d recommend.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst's controls can be god awful in time trials, clinging to ledges, or randomly jumping and auto clinging to a pipe that was on top of you that you had no clue you could grab onto in the first place. There is also this huge problem of not being able to know where all the 20 checkpoints are when you're doing a time trial, so you have to go dead slow through every single checkpoint and then memorise it and try to repeat other player's echo's to get the same advantage they got. The story can be quite bland, boring, and not very memorable. The best parts are when you skip the cutscenes and go straight to the missions where the action takes place, but most of it is running to Point A to B, then the mission ends, it felt like there could've been so much more, like being on the ground and being able to jump off cars and get back on the rooftops through elevators or pipes. Even the disruptor, the only time that is used is to progress you through the story, as it is used as a block to stop you from travelling to other places until you've completed the story. The grappling hook, for example was highly exaggerated to me. I thought maybe you could've been able to swing at your own leisure, but it turns out it's all scripted and you can only swing with it in certain places, which is understandable, but thought more could've been done. I also remember fondly when they released another trailer with faith hanging onto that drone, turns out it's just a cutscene and you were basically watching the end of it. You can't do that in game, you can't get a drone again, nor will you probably ever see one.

The open world city is also bland, uninteresting, boring, and lifeless, I always feel by myself all the time in an open city with nobody in it, and I also found there being no K-SEC to fight boring. Not like they're even a challenge, not even they can stop you, there's absolutely zero risk. or tension, just constantly smashing the Y button, kicking your legs around because you can only press X once until they start "blocking your attacks". It doesn't feel smart or interesting, it feels like an inconvenience and that I'm gonna have to o a jump kick, a slide, or just tilt my joystick right or left or back or forward and press Y tons of times. So, we've learned that standing still combat is a pain and should be avoided AT ALL COSTS to remove the awkwardness from the experience, otherwise you'll be stuck doing stupid silly combos that K-SEC constantly falls bait to. Because they can block your normal attacks, but some reason they can't avoid you running up a wall, slowly turning around and kicking them right in the face over and over and over. Combos, everybody. Traversal attacks are the most enjoyable combat experience. So if you're buying this game for the story, then you came to the wrong place, it is mostly uninteresting, the gameplay is where the fire really starts roaring.

Me ha gustado bastante, los 60 FPS le sientan de lujo en consola y da gusto jugarlo con lo bien que luce.
El sistema de combate es pésimo sinceramente, a mi no me gustó.

One of the most underrated games ever! It's incredibly beautiful game with Astonishing art-design and architecture. In my opinion, this game deserved more)

Mirror's Edge Catalyst expands and improves upon the original with a fantastic roof-top open world. Just getting from one end of the city to another is a puzzle of hidden windows and secret paths. This is a problem, because the jumping puzzles kind of suck.

I found myself constantly wanting the game to just tell me what to do, and it felt like I had to read the minds of the developers to figure out the exact sequence of movements to get somewhere. It's like the worst parts of Assassin's Creed or Dying Light. Sometimes chaining moves together come together beautifully, but there were too many moments of being stuck and not even runner vision, which is like an AR guide for runners, being able to help. It's also common for there to be a timer, which kills the joy of the experience.

The actual mechanics of parkour movement have been polished to a mirror sheen, but is still an exercise in frustration. Solving increasingly obnoxious parkour puzzles is just not my idea of fun. I appreciate the graphics and movement controls, but this franchise needs some major conceptual changes if there is a next game.

The story manages to be less cohesive than the original, however, the gameplay is still fun and improved in some areas. However, there is a lack of fun and memorable missions/characters.

Ele ficou um jogo muito menos maçante de se jogar do que o primeiro, o combate ficou mais fluído, o parkour leve e solto, o mundo aberto só serve para ir de ponto A a B sem nenhuma outra razão, por isso essa é a nota

This game is a speed runner’s dream. It’s world is well designed and the parkour is consistently fluent. The story is lacking but this games true strengths are in its gameplay.

Answer: 75 characters is between 10 words and 19 words with spaces included in the character count. If spaces are not included in the character count, then 75 characters is between 12 words and 25 words.

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst is an admirable attempt to make a niche concept work. Unfortunately, it so intently focuses on avoiding the pitfalls of the previous game that it stumbles into a hole of its own.

Catalyst has some wonderful ideas and there are times where it’ll make you feel truly free, but it fails to maintain its momentum for more than a few minutes at time.
