And that’s what makes Journey to the Savage Planet’s subtext so unsettling, and the game an unexpected autopsy of the open-world formula. This is one of hundreds of games that ask us to kill and conquer, but never question our actions. The story tells us we’re here to have fun, and supposedly save the world. [Polygon Recommends]

You're a Pioneer for the Company Kindred Aerospace, The 4th Best Aerospace company in the Galaxy, and you've been sent to the Planet ARY-26. Your mission is to catalog the flora and fauna of the planet and to find useful resources to find out if the planet in colonizable. And the trip took all of your fule, so if you want to leave again, you'll have to find a usable fuel source. The Pioneers are sent to Planets without intelligent life, but something is amiss on ARY-26 as a giant tower looms over the land. This realization promptly changes your main goals. The Planet is wild, and not just the lifeforms, but the Planet itself, as it's comprised of floating archipelagoes, making navigation... interesting. You scour the planet to find precious resources and different materials that will allow you to upgrade your gear with your ships 3D Printer, after Kindred approval of course. Journey to the Savage Planet is loaded with irreverent humor, between the commercials that are cast over your ship's systems, videoes from Mr. Tweed, and commentary from E.K.O. Your friendly AI. The wait for this game was worthwhile, as every aspect seems well polished, and the paths are challenging and fun. In my opinion, this game is an instant classic and needs to be in most gamers collections! Full Review »

Only major gripe if the music outside of main theme (which is good) is almost non-existent and boring. Otherwise, Journey to the Savage Planet is worth picking up, especially at $30 bucks. Very funny, great mechanics and excellent environments. It feels a triple A game at less than half the price. I would highly recommend this game
