Burnout Paradise Remastered is a lazy portage of his illustrious elder. If we are happy to have the most complete version here, we can only regret that there has not been some modifications to the ergonomics of the title. At this price we have the most beautiful and the most complete version of a game that has 10 years of age on its gameplay (which is excellent, as we already know).

Burnout Paradise Remastered dusts off the old game, but doesn't stand out in any particular way - it simply is all right. If you own a console and don't know this game, it's a great opportunity to give it a shot - it's still as great as it ever was. If you own a PC, you can just go back to The Ultimate Box.

Despite a lacklustre remaster (I’m looking at you, textures), returning fans will feel right at home in Paradise City with Burnout Paradise Remastered. Though newcomers to the franchise may be a little disappointed at first because of its last-gen mentality, there’s still a lot to enjoy with this neat little package.

When I discovered that they were also making a remaster of Burnout Paradise I was thrilled to say the least, and thankfully the remaster is really well done and does the original game justice. The gameplay has really stood the test of time and it feels better than ever because you can feel the improvements that have been made thanks to the very responsive controls. Racing is thrilling from start to finish and the amount of variety each race event has means boredom never seems to creep in, which is great. This is great because in terms of content the game has huge amount of it and to say you will sink a number of hours into the game is a massive understatement. Whilst the amount of content that’s present in the game satisfied me a great deal I would still liked to have seen a few new inclusions to tie in with the remaster, but this is only a small gripe and I don’t think too many people will be disappointed and I don’t think it will stop too many people from purchasing the game again as well. Something that really impressed me with this remaster was how flawless the online components were. I must admit that I did expect to bump into a few problems every now and then but I can honestly say that I never experienced any and that’s great because it makes playing online a pleasure and also it gives the game even more replay value. The game overall doesn’t suffer with many problems at all which surprised me, but it does have a few frustrating moments every now and then. These frustrating moments are mainly caused by getting lost and taking the wrong corners in races but thankfully this problem subsides when you get used to the city again. The presentation side of the game is without a doubt where you can see where the most improvements have been made. Visually the game looks great despite its age and everything just looks crisper and more realistic. The soundtrack which is fantastic sounds even better and the sound from the cars make things very immersive. At the end of the day remasters should all follow the way Burnout Paradise has been remastered because the improvements are fantastic and this in turn makes the game worth playing again. If you’re fan of the original Burnout Paradise then you will absolutely love this remaster and if you’ve never played a Burnout game before then I thoroughly recommend that you start with this game first because you definitely won’t regret it. Burnout Revenge was my game, and I loved it. Criterion did themselves no favors with the “open world”. I absolutely hate wandering around aimlessly and hoping you’re on the right route. The map is useless and the world is dead. I’m not a pro gamer, but I didn’t finish half my races because I couldn’t find the finish line. It’s infuriating. Car customization is limited to colors, which didn’t bother me in Revenge. The cars felt unique in that game. I have no incentive to discover new areas or unlock cars in Paradise. The garage mechanic is annoying at best. Engine sounds and car characteristics are interchangeable. Soundtrack remains a highlight. This isn’t a bad arcade racer by any means, I just really wanted to make the point that it’s not some cult classic. There are hundreds of vehicles and I don’t care about any of them. Full Review »

You can have a lot of fun in Paradise world and sometimes it can be frustrating. The level design is very good and finding your own way for races is great too.
