The gameplay has really stood the testThe Burnout series has been a favourite of mine for years and I was very pleased that Burnout Paradise was made backwards compatible on the Xbox One last year. When I discovered that they were also making a remaster of Burnout Paradise I was thrilled to say the least, and thankfully the remaster is really well done and does the original game justice. The gameplay has really stood the test of time and it feels better than ever because you can feel the improvements that have been made thanks to the very responsive controls. Racing is thrilling from start to finish and the amount of variety each race event has means boredom never seems to creep in, which is great. This is great because in terms of content the game has huge amount of it and to say you will sink a number of hours into the game is a massive understatement. Whilst the amount of content that’s present in the game satisfied me a great deal I would still liked to have seen a few new inclusions to tie in with the remaster, but this is only a small gripe and I don’t think too many people will be disappointed and I don’t think it will stop too many people from purchasing the game again as well. Something that really impressed me with this remaster was how flawless the online components were. I must admit that I did expect to bump into a few problems every now and then but I can honestly say that I never experienced any and that’s great because it makes playing online a pleasure and also it gives the game even more replay value. The game overall doesn’t suffer with many problems at all which surprised me, but it does have a few frustrating moments every now and then. These frustrating moments are mainly caused by getting lost and taking the wrong corners in races but thankfully this problem subsides when you get used to the city again. The presentation side of the game is without a doubt where you can see where the most improvements have been made. Visually the game looks great despite its age and everything just looks crisper and more realistic. The soundtrack which is fantastic sounds even better and the sound from the cars make things very immersive. At the end of the day remasters should all follow the way Burnout Paradise has been remastered because the improvements are fantastic and this in turn makes the game worth playing again. If you’re fan of the original Burnout Paradise then you will absolutely love this remaster and if you’ve never played a Burnout game before then I thoroughly recommend that you start with this game first because you definitely won’t regret it. This game is a desaster and a waste of time. I tried to have a good time with a nice race, but 15 minutes after switching on this game I was still jerking with the controller trying to figure out how. Game interrupts with boring explanations all the time. You have to be very patient. So after some time I gave up and removed it from my Xbox.

I’m not sure why this is considered such a classic. Burnout Revenge was my game, and I loved it. Criterion did themselves no favors with the “open world”. I absolutely hate wandering around aimlessly and hoping you’re on the right route. The map is useless and the world is dead. I’m not a pro gamer, but I didn’t finish half my races because I couldn’t find the finish line. It’s infuriating. Car customization is limited to colors, which didn’t bother me in Revenge. The cars felt unique in that game. I have no incentive to discover new areas or unlock cars in Paradise. The garage mechanic is annoying at best. Engine sounds and car characteristics are interchangeable. Soundtrack remains a highlight. This isn’t a bad arcade racer by any means, I just really wanted to make the point that it’s not some cult classic. There are hundreds of vehicles and I don’t care about any of them. Expand

Before criticising harshly the price this game might be, please remember that it comes with all the DLC that was released for the original. So not just a polished version of the original but also with all the extra's too so it's like a remaster complete edition sort of thing. It's also great fun with friends in a party! Expand

Some people love this game and some don't. You can have a lot of fun in Paradise world and sometimes it can be frustrating. The level design is very good and finding your own way for races is great too. The game runs excellent with 4k60fps on XSX.

I have been hearing great things about this game for awhile, the one thing that was concerning me a little bit, was I don’t really like racing games. Especially single player racing games, I’ll play Mario Kart with friends but playing through a racing by myself just never sounds that much fun.

When it comes to arcade racing games, the Burnout series is held in such high esteem. I have never played any of them because as I said, I just don’t like racing games. So I figured I would give this one a try because its a remaster and its considered one of the best of all time.

I wound up playing the game for about 4 hours and then the whole concept of the game kind of wore thin for me. It was fun driving around the open world city, breaking billboards and driving through fences for a little while but the gimmick of “The Crashes are Cool” just doesn’t do anything for me.

I’m glad that I sat down and tried this game, it seems well made but its just not for me.

I seriously can not fault this game. The original game was incredible and no racer after ever beat it in terms of design, visuals, sense of speed, fun, size, content, multiplayer and many other areas. A game way ahead of it's time. The remastered version looks and plays like a dream. Burnout Paradise.

Burnout Paradise, one of the big games of my childhood. It certainly isn't the greatest Burnout but it certainly is a great game.

After all these years Bournout Paradise is still an amazing game with an exceptional sense of speed and some very clever design ideas. It’s not easy for me to understand why Electronic Arts chose Need for Speed over Burnout. [05/2018, p.69]

Despite showing its age in occasional places, the purity and simplicity of Burnout's arcade racing is as refreshing now as it was when the title was first released. Its world may not be as expansive or as good looking as some of today's titles, but its racing experience is still up there with the best and arguably superior to some modern-day counterparts.
