I’m not sure why this is considered such a classic. Burnout Revenge was my game, and I loved it. Criterion did themselves no favors with the “open world”. I absolutely hate wandering around aimlessly and hoping you’re on the right route. The map is useless and the world is dead. I’m not a pro gamer, but I didn’t finish half my races because I couldn’t find the finish line. It’sI’m not sure why this is considered such a classic. Burnout Revenge was my game, and I loved it. I’m not a pro gamer, but I didn’t finish half my races because I couldn’t find the finish line. It’s infuriating. Car customization is limited to colors, which didn’t bother me in Revenge. The cars felt unique in that game. I have no incentive to discover new areas or unlock cars in Paradise. The garage mechanic is annoying at best. Engine sounds and car characteristics are interchangeable. Soundtrack remains a highlight. This isn’t a bad arcade racer by any means, I just really wanted to make the point that it’s not some cult classic. There are hundreds of vehicles and I don’t care about any of them. Expand

Some people love this game and some don't. You can have a lot of fun in Paradise world and sometimes it can be frustrating. The level design is very good and finding your own way for races is great too. The game runs excellent with 4k60fps on XSX.

I have been hearing great things about this game for awhile, the one thing that was concerning me a little bit, was I don’t really like racing games. Especially single player racing games, I’ll play Mario Kart with friends but playing through a racing by myself just never sounds that much fun.

When it comes to arcade racing games, the Burnout series is held in such high esteem. I have never played any of them because as I said, I just don’t like racing games. So I figured I would give this one a try because its a remaster and its considered one of the best of all time.

I wound up playing the game for about 4 hours and then the whole concept of the game kind of wore thin for me. It was fun driving around the open world city, breaking billboards and driving through fences for a little while but the gimmick of “The Crashes are Cool” just doesn’t do anything for me.

I’m glad that I sat down and tried this game, it seems well made but its just not for me.

After all these years Bournout Paradise is still an amazing game with an exceptional sense of speed and some very clever design ideas. It’s not easy for me to understand why Electronic Arts chose Need for Speed over Burnout. [05/2018, p.69]

Fast, furious, if a little fussy, this blistering remaster rejuvenates a cult classic. [May 2018, p.89]

Despite showing its age in occasional places, the purity and simplicity of Burnout's arcade racing is as refreshing now as it was when the title was first released. Its world may not be as expansive or as good looking as some of today's titles, but its racing experience is still up there with the best and arguably superior to some modern-day counterparts.
