The Burnout series has been a favourite of mine for years and I was very pleased that Burnout Paradise was made backwards compatible on the Xbox One last year. When I discovered that they were also making a remaster of Burnout Paradise I was thrilled to say the least, and thankfully the remaster is really well done and does the original game justice. The gameplay has really stood the test of time and it feels better than ever because you can feel the improvements that have been made thanks to the very responsive controls. Racing is thrilling from start to finish and the amount of variety each race event has means boredom never seems to creep in, which is great. This is great because in terms of content the game has huge amount of it and to say you will sink a number of hours into the game is a massive understatement. Whilst the amount of content that’s present in the game satisfied me a great deal I would still liked to have seen a few new inclusions to tie in with the remaster, but this is only a small gripe and I don’t think too many people will be disappointed and I don’t think it will stop too many people from purchasing the game again as well. Something that really impressed me with this remaster was how flawless the online components were. I must admit that I did expect to bump into a few problems every now and then but I can honestly say that I never experienced any and that’s great because it makes playing online a pleasure and also it gives the game even more replay value. The game overall doesn’t suffer with many problems at all which surprised me, but it does have a few frustrating moments every now and then. These frustrating moments are mainly caused by getting lost and taking the wrong corners in races but thankfully this problem subsides when you get used to the city again. The presentation side of the game is without a doubt where you can see where the most improvements have been made. Visually the game looks great despite its age and everything just looks crisper and more realistic. The soundtrack which is fantastic sounds even better and the sound from the cars make things very immersive. At the end of the day remasters should all follow the way Burnout Paradise has been remastered because the improvements are fantastic and this in turn makes the game worth playing again. If you’re fan of the original Burnout Paradise then you will absolutely love this remaster and if you’ve never played a Burnout game before then I thoroughly recommend that you start with this game first because you definitely won’t regret it. If you like racing games, and also like Arcade games then this game will likely entertain you for hours! It's a remaster of a game that came out on the Xbox 360 and PS3 and later to PC around 2007. Before criticising harshly the price this game might be, please remember that it comes with all the DLC that was released for the original. So not just a polished version of the original but also with all the extra's too so it's like a remaster complete edition sort of thing. It's also great fun with friends in a party! Expand

I seriously can not fault this game. The original game was incredible and no racer after ever beat it in terms of design, visuals, sense of speed, fun, size, content, multiplayer and many other areas. A game way ahead of it's time. The remastered version looks and plays like a dream. Burnout Paradise.

Burnout Paradise, one of the big games of my childhood. It certainly isn't the greatest Burnout but it certainly is a great game. Seeing this get announced for a remaster last year was a brilliant and very shocking surprise, and after playing it and completing it, I can honestly say yes it's a bit dated in a few areas but it certainly still holds greatly with gameplay and is definitely aBurnout Paradise, one of the big games of my childhood. After all these years Bournout Paradise is still an amazing game with an exceptional sense of speed and some very clever design ideas. It’s not easy for me to understand why Electronic Arts chose Need for Speed over Burnout. [05/2018, p.69]

Fast, furious, if a little fussy, this blistering remaster rejuvenates a cult classic. [May 2018, p.89]

Despite showing its age in occasional places, the purity and simplicity of Burnout's arcade racing is as refreshing now as it was when the title was first released. Its world may not be as expansive or as good looking as some of today's titles, but its racing experience is still up there with the best and arguably superior to some modern-day counterparts.
