    It's an amazing game and guaranteed fun for days. The multiplayer is probably the best part and everyone who thinks the multiplayer sucks is retarded. As for the numerous comments about little kids you have the option to silence players or one player in particular. If you don't have it I suggest you buy it.     I would say that this is a great game. the story is ok but the fun you can have with 4 friends is amazing. the mactchmaking i'snt amazing but stuff like grifball will keep people coming back but the true great part of halo 3 is forge and custom games. The maps that are made are the best i have ever seen in a game. games like infection are just outstanding. We're all entitled to our own opinion, but these excuses are just...stupid. Halo 3 is a true blockbuster, and you're an idiot if you haven't bought it by now. The multiplayer is epic, they're already coming out with a new campaign and map I like how people give the score a 7 or lower and expect to think their opinion is sooo more valid than mine or anyone else's.     This is one of the greatest games for the 360. The campaign is ok, but at least it has 4 PLAYER COOP cough cough (COD4). And the multiplayer is better than COD4 because it actually takes skill to level up. And to all those idiots who say COD4 is more realistic than Halo, NO SHIT Halo is a shooter that takes place in the future with a fucking super soldier no wonder it isn't realistic.

    it was one of my favorite games of all time and i mean it from the heart whoever made this game is pure genius and i think its awesome. whoever does not like it is really weird i swear next time another one like this comes out ill pay all the money i got.

The story is pointless and makes no sense when put in with other games. It is so easy that I beat it on legendary within 2 weeks and I hadn't beaten any other halo before.     Actually I would give it a 9.8(doesnt give me the choice, but anyway). Halo 3 is endless hours of entertainment. With may modes such as forge, x-box live and custom game ssuch as forge. This game in my opinion be Game of the Year. My only negative is the story, just like Halo 2. A slight cliffhanger. Otherwise it is well one of my favorite games of all time.

    being a huge fan of the first halo i am really disappointed at how halo 2 and 3 have turned out. Instead of building something beautiful out of the success of the first halo, we instead receive pretty much an exact replica of the first game just in different maps and even then it isn't that much different. The shooting in the game needs no skill as it rewards the spray and pray style compared to a more tactical and accurate approach, and although this is fun I find it too easy to kill the Covenant during the game. Multiplayer is fun.... when with the right people unfortunately if not you're in for one hell of a time as kids do nothing but hurl obscenities at you on a map that you have played over and over and over again. unfortunately that experience has led me to have a very negative view on multiplayer as well.… Expand

The only reason I can imagine why Halo gets so much crap is because Gamers are frightened that people who enjoy the company of women, drink occasionally and don't live in their parents basement can pick up and enjoy this game. Its a socially acceptable game where even 'frat dudes' can play it with out being considered nerdy. It is this social acceptance, which it seems many gamers never attain in their lives, that I can only attribute to its unpopularity with an internet community obsessed with anything non-halo as being SO much better then Halo, even though it still ranks up there with games like CoD4 in online play and popularity.
    Halo isn't a perfect game and the whole game plays like the first Halo game, but that's the point. In a world where it seems there needs to be something jaw dropping and eye catching like 'perks', 'plasmids' or 'frame rate' Halo remembers what old fashioned video game fun is. Its not realistic, but when you win a duel with a well placed grenade on Live or beat a 10 foot ape alien to death with a pistol you feel good. that's a feeling that is hard to get with CoD4's easy camp levels, broken tru skill system and defective 'perks' (which are complained about by even the most hardened Call of Duty 4 fan. Note that I said Call of Duty 4, not Call of Duty, there is a significant difference between the two.) Now Halo does have issues but where as logically I would give CoD4 an 8 or 8.5 as a result of those issues Halo gets a 9 because its problems aren't nearly as game breaking. Halo's issues, with nearly worthless equipment and at times nerfed weapons and maps, are problems but you can still play the game without those things affecting your experience at all. You can get around those problems and still have a fun time unlike Call of Duty 4 where you can only tolerate its problems just so long before you want to throw the controller across the room.
    In short Halo brings the fun, and lets you have all kinds of it, something most other games are hard pressed to do.    … Expand

    Over-hyped and overrated generic FPS. Almost as bad as HAZE and LAIR. Story mode is short and repetitive, however, this appears to be a trademark of Bungie and the Halo series. Awful shooting mechanic and boring selection of weapons. MP is laggy and unintuitive. Don't buy into the hype. This. game. sucks.

    Don't get me wrong: It's not by any means a bad game. It's just that it's a notch above average. The campaign has an erratic difficulty curve that is about as stable as a guy who has just been put in an asylum. Your teammates are total morons that make druggies look like the child of the smartest couple in the world.     Excellent game. The campaign has a riveting plot line and never lets up on the action. The music is absolutely amazing and well-timed. The multiplayer neevr gets old. Anyone who lets up on multiplayer probably isn't good or has a conniption. I'm still playing online after a year.

    Solid, well paced, and enganging single player (with up to 4 player co-op), coupled with an excellently supported Multiplayer raises this game to the top. Forge map alteration and a full on Single/Multiplayer movie playback only sweeten the deal. Must buy for 360 owners!

    Halo 3 is a good game, but it doesn't really do much more than the first and second games did. It feels more like an addon data disk. It really excels in Multiplayer, especially online. Also the addition of being able to alter the pre-designed levels. I'd say for £10-£15. its worth it, especially with more maps being made available. Perfect Dark is better than Halo 3 in every way except graphics and yet that was out 8 years before it. Half-Life, Goldeneye, Bioshock and Timesplitters are more examples of better made FPS's. Yes Halo 3 contains the forge system and video playback, which is cool for everyone, I agree, and it does make the multiplayer more fun. Granted you can't do this with other multiplayer games such as CS:S or CoD4 don't include an editing system like this (for CS:S you have Source SDK, to my knowledge CoD4 has no editing engine, even on the PC) so it earns it a couple more points. Graphically the game is impressive, though it's pretty much just the Halo 1 graphics just alot more polished. Nothing wrong with that at all, it just means that the developers would rather spend a few days re-modeling an already-concepted weapon rather than recreate new weapons over the course of several weeks. All-in-all, this is a decent game, and fun to play with your friends. The only downside is that because of it's friendly atmosphere to children, you'll usually have to deal with screaming kids on Xbox Live, which knocks it down a few points. (Personally, I played multiplayer games before my voice deepened, and people were annoyed, but hell, all that matters is if you have fun or not, someone's voice should not annoy you if the game is good, my only trouble with it is if the kids start to actually SCREAM in frustration, which has happened to me before in other games.)… Expand

Online is great fun when it isn't laggy, Americans can play perfect games 9/10 times, while the rest of the world is left out. Gameplay is solid, Graphics are solid, and it is balanced as all hell.     The thing that makes Halo 3 the winner for me is multi player and this is also why the franchise is so successful, it started off with mates lugging xbox's and tv's around to connecting with them on Xbox Live Halo will always be Microsofts flagship title

    The game is fun but unbalanced! and if you dont have live then there is no point in buying this game at all. bungie should have made the weapons (and especialy the beat downs) more balaced. overall fun with friends but not worth what the critics say!

    Guns a too quiet when i first played it i didnt even know if ikiled a target not enough blood, hardly any new stuff from old ones stroyline is ok but this game really isn't worth the amount it costs i don't see what the big deal the guns don't fell as if they doing any damage when you win their iisn't a big song and dance about it either.

If anything is over hyped people want to find things wrong with it just for the sake of ranting they say it does nothing special which might be true, but thats not the point the point is that it did everything right for shooters on consoles for a change. You can be picky as you want but that doesn't change the fact that it's fun and that's why we play it. There's no use whining over how it's "just an average shooter" or if it is "boring and tasteless" personally i love the game I even learned to play the soundtrack on my violin since it was so catchy. I spent hours trying to learn to draw masterchief while on a train ride to oregon. I used to say the same thing about how it's "average" but when I finally played it I stopped ranting and learned to have fun, and that's what games were made for after all.… Expand

Halo never did anything original and just stole gameplay mechanics from just about every other FPS that came before it. There's nothing original about a well armored protagonist shooting aliens.     I give this a 0 to balance out the score. This game is a 7/10 at best. It loses points for lack of originality (every Halo game has practically been carbon copies of each other), crappy aiming system (the aiming system rewards spray and pray rather than skill) and another point is lost for a bad multiplayer. Supposedly the best aspect of the game but instead you're launched into maps I give this a 0 to balance out the score. This game is a 7/10 at best. They use this permanent fanboy fervor to allow them to make a game that has been the same since it's conception adding in only minor changes that have all been done in another game in some form or another to keep the critics at bay.     This game will entertain you for one play through of campaign and a week or two of multiplayer but it is not worth buying this over-hyped game. If you want good games that will offer a lot more replay value two are Ace Combat 6 and Call of duty 4 if you want one game for you 360 go with cod4

Which would be fine. If it was more fun and had a better story. You know change it up a bit yet it just stuck to same old formula of Halo 2. No thinking or strategy is ever needed even on harder levels as enemies get stronger and greater in numbers rather than smarter. The AI is still dumb as hell since you can do things like melee foes to death without the slightest urge for them to move out of your way. The story is like it always was bland and uninspired as I could tell everything that would happend before it played out in the game right down to the ending. To me the whole story lacks good depth that a game should have at this point. And it's all really dishearting that this is probably going to go down as the Mario of my day which is sad cause their is much more deserving games for that title. Some of this games positives it looks excelent, has good controls, and it has numbed down the needler. But let me say those things don't make up for everything else that is lacking with the story mode. But as for the multiplayer I think it is one of the best experiences online (which is why I'm giving it a 7 and not a 5.) I just hope that the next Halo game will deliver cause I think it has the potential to be great it's just that for this series third time was definitely not the charm.… Expand

    I have to admit that after getting Halo 2 I said I would never go along with the hype again, since it really let me down. It turned out to be nothing like I had expected. But several years later I let it get the best of me again. However, for whatever reason, I was not even remotely disappointed with this one. I expected there to be little alteration to the multiplayer. I was right, but everything that was changed, fixed 90% of the problems that I had with the multiplayer of the second. Then I got into the single player. At first, I was captivated. I was looking at the Chief in new shiny clothes and everything felt fresh. I played for a few hours and found, as expected, that the experience got a bit monotonous, but advancing the wrap-up to the story made the trip well worth it. I don't know how everyone else feels, but in my opinion that was a great finalization to the trilogy. And that ending was brilliant, I feel that while they finished off the saga, they could easily pick it back up again with a sequel or a prequel, whatever they feel would work. I feel like I am still playing H2 however. I know it's different, and I know that it handles a bit differently, but ultimately I was left with the feeling that I was playing H2 but with updates giving me new items. This may be a bit critical of me seeing as they are part of the same series and a totally different scheme would be outrageous, but maybe I was just expecting some of the things that I was hoping for from H2 that I never got. My other complaint would be that there is little to no character development here. I wanted to know more about Master Chief, and Sergeant Johnson, and learn more about Gravemind and the forerunners. Yet the only character I found any more depth into was Cortana. I know Bungie fully endorses the books as official pieces to the mythos. But this is Halo a game, not a series of books. I shouldn't have to read a book to know about the characters and the story behind this conflict. It should unfold throughout the game. And maybe that is what they hope to do with Halo Wars, and whatever new Halo games they plan to bring out.… Expand

    This game is crap... they keep on trying to update is and the only thing that the updates do is make the game play more and more crappy..I just don't understand why Microsoft rips people off... Its like if I were in charge I would be like " Guys lets fix this game its really messed up right now..." So hopefully they'll see this and fix it.

    A predominantly multi-player experience makes this a poorly rounded experience. Well fleshed out online mechanics but with a community that rivals Runescape. Audio and visuals are great, but the uninteresting weapons, offensive community and ridiculous looking characters drag this game down.

Co op online is great going throught the missionsn with up to 3 other players online, not to mention some of the achievements available on the campaign mode, adding for more replay value. Multiplayer is where halo 3 shines, and quite frankly anyone who feels that the game doesnt have a great online system is an idiot, I could go all 'Pro' and moan about battle rifle changes, but tbh no one excpet the competetive folks rly care about that. But the whole experience of online play is sesnsational, the matchmaking system works well normally finding games quickly, depending on amount of playres in the playlist and skill levels available. Antway I digress, Halo 3 = Great game, minor faults, Alot of people here are just giving it low to make it look bad, it is a 7 at worst, bt tbh i cnt see how it isnt at least an 8, i'll give it 9 coz of theatre and forge modes tho , anyone giving it lower than about a 7 has some sort of bias up their sleeve, maybe bungie called them names...who knows.… Expand

    This game is amazing! I don't care what anyone says, the campaign is wonderfully designed and the graphics are impeccable. The multilayer is the best of any game out for the 360 and is one of the most fun ever. Major props to the entire team at Bungie!! Keep the great games coming!

    Nothing fits. It is like 10 different artist slapped on their own coat of paint and things just don't feel right. The gameplay lacks any true mechanics and the multiply, although good, seems to fall short compared to its xbox live counterparts. don't be taken by the hype, this game is mediocre at best.

    Bungie's formula for its Halo games provides the most fun you can have on the Xbox 360. The lighting is spectacular, the a.i. actually seems artificially intelligent, and the story is gripping. Very few games reach this level of excellence and make you wonder why other game studios even bother.

    3 seconds after kicking some Covenant butt this game just becomes addicting. Really Fun. 2 Player Campaign is also quite fun. For instance, you can drive while a Warthog while your friend operates the turret or vice-versa. Great Game!

    One of the best FPS's around. Definitly worth picking up. Some will say it's not innovative enough, but as a third game what can you expect? The story is fun to go through and the multiplayer is 10x better than 2's.

I am quite shocked that the makers of all the halos decided to make a game for online. the maps are clearly over sized and are very good online. besides the maps, i thought that halo 3 would of had more than 2 people Halo 2 was a great game!! The list could go on for many more paragraphs! They need to make some lessons from Valve or Epic and figure out the basics of how online gaming can be fun.     This game is garbage. The only thing good about it is it's noobfest of a multiplayer which is terrible! I f you want a real gam play gears, that delivers everything from an epic storyline to the most intense multiplayer next to COD4. Halo 3 fnas = noobs, after Halo: Combat Evolved this game went into the toilettes.

    Halo 3 delivers in all aspects. It's not perfect, but nearly so. Don't you just love all these PS3 fan boys giving Halo 3 a negative review because they hate Microsoft so much? It's amazing that they try so hard but fall so short. Who would have thought. Epic fail for sure, sony fans.

I've asked about a million people why they hate bush, and they can't give me an answer. I don't like bush, but I at least know why I don't like him. Same with Halo. They can't say why they hate it, except for reasons that they hear other people say. It's too bad so many people try so hard to fit in.

    The reason I kept from giving this game a 9 is because 8 is great, but 9 is amazing. Halo CE was 10 because it was pretty much flawless for it's time, and I agree with many critics. Overall, this game isn't amazing because it doesn't add much to the halo series, but it's still a great game and barely missed the mark.… Expand

    Unfortunately Halo3 just doesn't deliver. Graphics & gameplay are just better than average. Put it up against Bioshock and it looks poor. I would have given it a 6 but the co-op campaign gives it another point.

    Don't be mistaken: The single player/Campaign mode is kind of boring. Halo is all about "multi player". It never gets boring. I am addicted. The best ever.

    This game is good in all ways. The story is compelling, the multiplayer rocks, the graphics are excellent, and the gameplay is exquisite. This is one of those games that you can just go back and play any time you want, and it doesn't get tiring or boring. The only bad thing is that the campaign is a bit short.

    Solid game.Good graphics, fun campaign and Xbox Live play is what really pulls through for this game. Great matchmaking and the custom games ability adds to the games appeal. Forge is a great addition to this installment. Definatly a Buy for all Xbox 360 gamers.

The levels are extremely varied but you will eventually getting tired of using the battle rifle(which is pretty much what your gonna be using the whole time) The enemies dont really vary to much which makes them kinda boring. The weapons seem pretty decently balanced. the removal of a lock on rocket pretty much makes it useless in campaign. So you'll have Pretty solid campaign mode. The maps seem pretty fair in layout so you cant blame how much you suck on the unfair spawing points and weapon locations. Overall this is a fun game that you'll probally be popping in years from now. Its not without its flaws but im sure we can all overlook them and appreciate this game for its great points… Expand

    All in all halo 3 isnt very good, the single player is very boring, which made co-op over xbox live story mode pointless, the multiplayer is still the same old thing just with more stuff that doesnt help the gameplay and overall Halo 3 is a big letdown.

Every game in Half-life leaves me hanging for the next game Halo has never done that. Halo does the some thing and some guns are not that fun to use.     Halo 3 is an amazingly solid game produced by one of the most involved game development studios ever. The single player is immensely satisfying and the multiplayer provides thrills for months on end.

    this is the best game i have played to date (yes, i am a sucker for FPS) and i do not see anything wrong with it. the story is awesome, a bit confusing at times if you dont know your backstory, and the online is awesome. i cannot think of a better game for the 360, or any other platform ive played on.

    It's the addition of the Forge level editor and the saved films that give the game an even longer set of legs, legs that will probably keep you running at full speed until Bungie figures out where, exactly, to go from here.

    Halo 3 is the best Xbox 360 game to date. The single-player campaign and storyline are both very strong, but it's Forge and the Saved Films features that will likely go down in history as Bungie's crowning achievements. They've basically taken everything great about the series and improved upon it in every way, then added some amazing new features that we'll be using for years to come.
