As a person who has played every call of duty to date. I can say that MW3 isn't much different from the previous installments like MW2 and black ops. The campaign is short and the best mode is definetly the spec ops mode where you can play spec ops missions in a similar way as MW2 and the survival mode which is like the zombies mode from black ops and world at war but with just regular enemies instead of zombies. The main problems I have with this game and the reason why I've scored it a 6 is because of the multiplayer which is ironically what is most hyped part of the call of duty franchise. The problem is that it is extremely frustrating at times because other people will simply stay at the spawn areas and kill you off quickly or take advantage of the various glitches that are present within the games maps and the people with the weakest connection always seem to have the advantage due to lag shooting. Overall I would say this is a decent package with a fun but short campaign and a fun spec ops mode you can play online, just don't expect any fair play in the competitive multiplayer side. Expand

I can't offer more than a 6 though, simply because, like others have said, its TOO similar to be fresh enough for those high scores. Worth playing though! Expand

Yet another Call of Duty is amongst us but this time it comes from two studios (Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games). But this was the strongest point of the entire game, the Spec Ops was boring and has no replay value whatsoever, the Spec Ops survival mode is fun but only for a few hours. I must say though there seems to be a little more variety to the Spec Ops missions. But graphically; it's the EXACT same, the gun skins are the same for guns that were in previous COD games, and the way the weapons feel they don't feel right. The multiplayer however has been tweaked a little; the adding of strike packages. The strike packages are killstreak rewards but more varied as you have up to a total of 3 to choose from:
    -Support
    -Assault
-Specialist For support everytime you help your team out in some way you get a point to go towards your killstreak (this could be capturing a flag or defusing a bomb, killing people etc). The Assault is just like your standard COD games, when you get a kill that goes towards your killstreak reward but when you die it resets. Then there is the Specialist which is the same as Assault but this time when you get to 1 of your killstreak rewards you get a perk easy enough? When you die that gets reset just like the Assault strike package. These offer new ways to play but don't really work for me as everyone uses the support strike package because it doesn't reset when you die. In the way of game modes they've added 1 new game mode and kept the rest in which I though was very disappointing, I was expecting at least 3-4 different game modes the one game mode is called 'Kill Confirmed'. It works very similar to normal TDM but there's a twist; when you kill someone they drop a dogtag, run over to the dogtag to pick it up the first to a certain score wins. This mode just feels rushed and VERY similar to Crysis 2s' killstreak system.

While the single player campaign is short but fun the rest of the game feels flat out boring, I would recommend getting the game when it comes down in price (if that will ever happen). Let's hope Treyarchs' game next year offers more that MW3.

I notice that they've done a good job of making the game fairer for everyone, which is why the 'good' players are getting unhappy because they don't win all the time. I like the class setups, and how you can have different killstreaks assigned to different classes; nice touch there. However I'm not a huge fan of the failure that is 'extreme conditioning'. Yes I understand no-one can have unlimited sprint realistically, but the amount of sprint extreme conditioning gives is pathetic! I would like to see this buffed up a bit. Also MW3 lacks a few great features from Black Ops, for example combat training: a great way to play the game and enjoy it because you can just set it to easy and relax, and also it's good for those who suffer from terrible internet (e.g Me)! Also Black Ops had way more ways to customise custom game modes, for example you could edit perks' effects, which was awesome.
Overall this game is good, all the singleplayer is fairly mediocre, they've done a good job of making multiplayer more equal, but the game just lacks that snappiness, that edge that MW2 had which made the gameplay so much faster and action-packed.

I'll be honest. I play both Battlefield and Call of Duty. I grew up playing CoD. CoD4 was by far the best of the series. It changed everything...then the developers got **** and though they could be lazy and still make a great game. Most of the people that bought it, bought MW2, BO, and MW3 for the hype. Most of the people that bought it, bought MW2, BO, and MW3 for the hype. MW2 wasn't too bad, but it was horribly unbalanced. Black Ops wasn't unbalanced THAT MUCH but it did have game breaking flaws and I got bored with it after a few weeks. MW3 though...sad but true, this game DOES NOT live up to the hype. The store isn't as good as the previous ones, survival doesn't feel to be such a big change and this could of been DLC for MW2 for $15. The multiplayer...how can I say this? Well...it's not what we all expected. It's not unbalanced as MW2, but it's more unbalanced than Black Ops. The spawn system, after YEARS, is still horrible. The weapons overall are still as easy and powerful as ever. Most, if not all, have perfect accurate and little to no recoil. If you want a challenge, Modern Warfare 3 won't give it to you. The killstreaks, now called point streaks, are unbalanced as well. Some are horrible and require a ridiculously high amount of kills/points to obtain. Some are just TOO DAMN GOOD and TOO DAMN EASY to obtain. You still have the typical Call of Duty players as well. Half of the players will be trying to do 360 no scopes and trick shots or half of the players will be camping on a dark corner. The map design is just bad. Horrible. The sound design is just as bad. You feel like you're shooting a stapler and not a weapon. The game doesn't promote as much teamwork as I thought it would. There's more, but not enough. 70-80% of the players still just go for the kills and don't care about the objective. There's also no dedicated servers. Hundreds of millions of dollars, but yet they can't make dedicated servers. This is how lazy and careless the makers of this franchise are.

I think the worst thing in the game, well in the series, is the community. It makes me want to puke. The game is supposed to be M for mature and not K for kiddy land. Half of the players are little kids, one third are complete jerks and, excuse my language, complete **** I know every game is bound to have them, but wow. Call of Duty has the worse fanbase in gaming.

I do play the game once or twice a week, but I'd rather be playing previous Call of Duty titles simply because they added more punch for your buck even though they had an enormous amount of game breaking flaws.

This game is NOT Mw2.5, but it's NOT Mw3. I give it a 6/10. Does not live up to the hype, developers are lazy and greedy, map design and sound design are horrible, unbalanced, good story line but not better than the previous, slightly more balanced than Mw2 but still unbalanced, community is horrible and last but not least, Call of Duty Elite. Now you can see how greedy these guys are.

Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Studios' spec ops survival mode is an interesting answer to the zombies mode brought to us by Treyarch. The spec ops missions and the multiplayer maps may as well have been a DLC pack for Modern Warfare 2. The guns may have been retooled a bit (also knifing is best it's ever been), but it is largely the same experience, even down to the titles and emblems you can earn. The content is largely recycled from previous games, which would have been alright if it were mixed in with an appropriate amount of new unlockables. To begin I found the campaign actually more enjoyable than the multiplayer which as you all well know by now is the complete opposite of their intentions. Usually the campaign is just a quick throw together with ideas and see what they come out with.
The controls are just excellent in this gaming series so there is no need to review that at all. The other noteworthy mentions are the graphics, the faultless running of the game and the soundtrack are always excellent in these games too.
As for the campaign itself, storyline isn't the next Dan Brown book but it's satisfactory and just gripping enough (if you've bothered to follow it throughout the series) to see it to its dramatic conclusion. So I will give the campaign a solid 7/10.

The multiplayer aspect however is where I feel lets this game down, if you've played every other call of duty online I feel this is the worst. Just the same core mechanics and yes some skill is involved but I've found that if you've got a better internet connection than your pretty much amazing at this. The other let down side of this but it's not really the games fault is the lack of teamwork involved... I feel the game could have encouraged this more but your pretty much Lone Wolf in the arena, if you play against a group who actually communicate than you are literally just going to get destroyed and quickly.
Finally and this is a personal gripe which I have for a few other games, the whole DLC idea is rather annoying.. if I pay £45 for a game I don't want to be seen throwing an additional 30 odd quid for a couple of new maps, the whole concept of that is a con.
So multiplayer I'm going to give a 6/10 as it does have it's enjoyable moments when you actually get some teamwork involved.

Finally I thought a mention of the Spec Ops missions is deserved, I found this to be extremely addictive if you get the hang of it and encourage people to give that a go! The survival mission in particular is what I have spent the majority of time playing on this game.

To get started, MW3's campaign is of course, short and by far, the worse in the series at lest in my view point. The story covers and plays a new protagonist name Yai but he doesn't make him self important besides just to witness the events with Soap and Price. You also play as american name Frost but his story seems lest important to the main plot besides witnessing the war in Europe. With out spoiling, characters will die and it can be pretty cliche and out of nowhere. To replace Zombies from CoD: Black ops, MW3 adds a different mode called Survivor mode. You fight waves and waves incoming infantry and helicopters. You can play this mode in all multiplayer maps as a basic horde like mode but that's about it. MW3 still also brings Spec ops as short campaign missions for 2 players. The multiplayer in MW3 comes close as the most balance Cod game yet since CoD4 but that's change the cheap flaws such as Death Streaks and some overpowered Point streak rewards. Cod:Mw3 adds a point system instead just kill streaks. This is good idea for supportive players being rewarded for doing their objective. MW3 adds 3 different reward streaks such as Assault for offence rewards, Support rewards for small supportive rewards(Death doesn't reset the streak), and Perk rewards players extra perks until death. This is step up for progressive players but not all that much. That's about it when it comes to new in MW3's multiplayer and the rest is just different from CoD:BO. I enjoy the weapons a lot better in MW3 having a set recoil to learn from each gun and perks are well set besides a few a being a tad Overpowered. There is a 4th perk for guns in MW3 but they seem more like invisible attachments then special perks. The major down sides to MW3 compare to Cod:BO and Mw2 is the terrible to decent maps in MW3. The maps are smaller and cramped with narrow hallways and buildings and small open areas that lead to more narrow areas. The DLC maps may look better that also means paying another 50 bucks for them. I do like some of the changes and very few of the new ideas in MW3 but they also come with there flaws. I suggest picking up MW3 if skipped Cod: Black ops for the wait of MW3. Other then that, you really enjoy Black ops, give MW3 a rent or best just pass for the next Cod, Black ops 2. Expand

Well, the best summary I can give is, it's not like it's generous to call it a game, but it's nothing special. I'm not much of a CoD fan, and as such, I can't give this game high marks. I do feel, once again, that the game could've been a lot better with a bit more play-testing. Really, get a guy to level up his character to 80. I doubt he would make it far before the controller goes through the television screen. Then again, it did give a few hours of good fun, and that was nice while it lasted. Based on how MW2 ended it's campaign, there was going to be a inevitable sequel, but I was very concern with what that sequel would entail. The campaign was just a mess of plot holes, little character development and railroading of epic proportions for its big action moments. A convoluted multiplayer system that retreaded back much of what Black Ops established on top of numerous problems, a survival system that was lazily tacked on to try to be like zombies but fail almost miserably and a spec ops system that was still good, but still had the same problems MW2's version had and was never fixed. I did not think the reverb from Black Ops to MW3 would be so loud that it would make me tone deaf, because the noise of everything the game was trying to throw at me was just completely exhausting to listen to. The commercialization of the game was far more important than the game itself as far as I was concern.

To fair however, I still had fun with the game. a 6/10 is often seen as a failing grade in the mainstream media of critics and players, but I thought MW3 was decent, alright and/or okay. It did still have cool campaign moments that made it feel like a big dumb action flick, the spec ops was still good and some charm was found in pockets on the multiplayer. It's just a dam shame again that it sunk so low on quality and the idea of war just doesnt exist. It's completely barren from the game's entire being. It might have a war in the background, but the feeling and pacing just eradicates any sense of the idea. MW3 is not a bad game, but not really a good game. Just my view though now looking back as a adult with a critical mind.

Modern Warfare 3 was one of my least favorite call of duty games. I loved Modern Warfare 2 and think that it is one of the best call of duty games ever made, but I felt like Modern Warfare 3 deviated from the spirit and gameplay of Modern Warfare 2. The maps weren't done well, the guns felt over powered at time and I never really had much fun. That is why I will give it a 6.1.

And people wonder why "professional" reviewers are distrusted? |||| The sad reality of MW3 is that it looks and plays just like MW2 and Black Ops. There's little to no graphical difference between them, there's really no gameplay changes between them other than the renaming of some of the kill/death streaks. The AI is bad, the voice overs are bad, the maps are small and campy, et cetera. It's basically a carbon copy of MW2 and Black Ops. |||| Now I'm sure people will say "the game was perfect and sold millions so they don't need to change anything". To say the game was perfect is hubris of the highest order though no one can dispute that it sold millions. However, consider, in the same time frame, that Epic Games continually tweaked UE3 for the Gears franchise, making each one richer than the previous, DICE brought out a new engine this generation for BFBC2 and BF3, and Bungie modified the Halo 2 engine for H3 and ODST while making an entirely new engine for Halo: Reach. But Call of Duty? To quote one of its own callsigns: S.S.D.D. I don't think it's too unreasonable to ask for at least a new engine and some better graphics after all these years, even if they leave the core gameplay the same. |||| The game is enjoyable but it's AVERAGE. The engine and the gameplay style show their ages. I honestly would be hard pressed to recommend MW3 to someone who is still having fun with MW2 or Black Ops because they'd just be spending money to get the same experience they already have. |||| (PS. Maps are alright but as a whole they are poor due to the total lack of variety. The story is very good though, and is the only reason this game gets a five. The other half (Multiplayer) is a big fat zero due to easily exploited flaws in the system and total inability to bring together teams and reward them for working together. Campaign is short, but well paced, reasonably fun, but not especially compelling or thought provoking, the issue being that the majority of the campaigns most impressive moments are essentially first person cut-scenes. The combat is solid, but has lost its edge, where call of duty was the example of flawless first person shooter mechanics, it now feels clunky and awkward, while 60 frames per second keeps everything on screen smooth, your movement as a player is not. Crouching, running and vaulting over obstacles feels clunky and slow, and weapons have an unnatural accuracy and lack of recoil that just doesn't feel right. Graphically the game also falls short, while the various studios that produce the game clearly put a lot of detail into many of the levels and character models, the games low muddy looking textures aren't worthy of the these efforts. Lighting also fails to impress, being almost entirely baked into the textures, with little to no dynamic lighting, with the only change in light being the shadows on your weapon. Weapons also look peculiar, a step back from previous titles, the guns are all held at strange angles, and are oddly proportioned. Survival mode is worth you time, but if you have ever played a call of duty game before, then multiplayer is useless. Only buy this game if you have to. Expand

I also think that Activision's money grab is going to force future releases to require external activation like the elite to bypass XBOX Live. That was a complete disaster and ruined my experience. Well, thats not going to happen, I cant believe the utter mess they made of this game. It plays alright, some of the new stuff is ok such as the support kill streaks, I even like some of the changes they made here and there.

However, they need to seriously find some new programmers to make maps as they are HORRENDOUS, and for all the good points the game has, they are rendered quite irrelevant when the maps you play the game on are the worst I have seen. Small, cluttered, they are just a cluster f*** of garbage. All that happens now is your playing Quake with machine guns. I have tried and tried to get into this, but I just cant get past how bad the maps are. Now im considering trading this in Friday for Skyrim, and I will go back to BF3 for my multiplayer fix. On the good side, it did remind me of how much fun the playstyle of CoD games is, and im quite tempted to go back to Black Ops (which I played alot of till about last March). But this game, nope, sorry Activision you messed it up.

I do enjoy the CoD playstyle, remembering how fun it is getting killstreaks, little perks. But I couldnt recommend this game to anyone. IF you love these military type of multiplayer games, try Battlefield 3. Or if you prefer the Call of Duty type of game play pick up Black Ops for probably half the price of this, as its much more enjoyable.

Though there is some kind of conspiracy to give this game as low as score as possible, its not a 3.0 game (as of posting this), but its also not a 90 score game either. I'll give it a 5 as its a good game in a bad enviroment (the maps let it down so much). One last thing to mention, if you enjoy only the single player of these games it ight be worth a look and I'd give that a 6 or 7 out of 10. Where as BF3's is rubbish. But dont expect to get your £40/$60 worth from this if your only interested in buying it for the single player, its short and doesnt do anything new.

However, the campaign is still good and spec ops/survival is still better than what Battlefield 3 has to offer. My biggest problem with spec ops and survival isn't the fact that they are exact copies of the campaign missions and survival is effectively combat training on multiplayer maps, but that you can't compete on the leaderboards for survival and spec ops missions if you don't have Xbox LIVE Gold. If you can find it for a decent price I would recommend it since it doesn't have online achievements so like the other CoD games it's an easy 1000G in the bank and the achievements are well designed. Because I can't credit the multiplayer, I can only recommend this based off campaign and spec ops. Obviously it's got nothing on CoD4 but in my opinion the campaign is on par if not better than Modern Warfare 2's, purely because it plays slightly more like Call of Duty 4 and is a bit more varied and has a better story. It also concludes the trilogy whereas MW2, while it was good, felt more like a filler. It is short and easy, but not astronomically aweful like the multiplayer. Since spec ops and survival aren't anything special either (but they are still decent) MW3 isn't very good value for money. So overall, bearing in mind that it's a sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed games and Sledgehammer/Infinity Ward only had a year to develop it; on balance it comes out as a 5 out of 10. However, it is perfectly acceptable to rate this game much lower based on expectations and its multiplayer. Certainly the graphics are not improved, but this is mainly due to the low resolution required to maintain 60 frames per second. I didn't buy this game on release and after reading reviews and watching gameplay I knew what to expect. I'm really struggling to give this game a 5 out of 10 because there has been so little creativity in virtually all areas, but if I ignore the title it's what I believe the game deserves on its own merits. Survival mode is addictive and fun but at times it seems impossible. All though Firefight and Horde mode from the Halo and Gears franchise are still much better survival mode is still a great game mode. The multiplayer is where Modern Warfare 3 shines. But the multiplayer doesn't shine at all. Like all other parts of the game the multiplayer is still "been there, done that". Same guns and same layout nothing new there. We as gamers need to be more blunt and harsh on games because we know that the so called "journalist" will not. If Activision and other companies would stop releasing the same thing every year and come up with new stuff gaming would be so much more exciting.

Now to my opinion on MW3. It is a average game with average graphics. It is fun online but is basically what we all have already seen. The SP is about 5hours long tops and the multiplayer has nothing renovating.I will say the one good thing about MP is the Kill confirmed.

I picked up my copy yesterday and prepared for a good 5 to 6 hours of game play. 3.5 hours later the campaign was over. While MW3 wraps up the story arc nicely it, the game was just way too short. The originality is gone. It seems that the departure of the key figureheads at Infinity Ward inspired panic throughout the company, and I am going to guess that also stalled development of MW3 for months. So what we get is a game that feels as though it was rushed out the door. The "oh **** we only have a year to get this game out of the door is evident in the game design. All of the ideas it seems from past iterations of the Call of Duty franchise's are used. There were times in the game that I got game play deja vu after slogging through the campaign. When that deja vu did come (and it happened quite often) I was thinking, "I have done this before in some other CoD game." Overall the Modern Warfare campaign wraps up nicely, the shooting is top notch, but I can't shake the feeling that paying $59.99 for a game with a 3.5 hour campaign was too much money.

I love it and at the same time I'm not too fond of it. Sure the single player story isn't perfect, but I really enjoyed it and how it ended the story arc. I was a little bit disappointed on the multiplayer aspect of the game. I still can't believe that after so many years IW refuses to use dedicated servers for consoles and relies on the asinie P2P hosting. I am so sick of the whole I shot first but when I watch the kill cam, no rounds came out of my weapon and the other person got the kill because they have the faster connection. Also, the maps seem very claustrophobic compared to the other Modern Warfare games. Like Black Ops, there aren't many sniper friendly maps. AND QUICKSCOPING! Why has that been brought back? It has to be the most annoying feature I have ever seen. It does not make you a badass player. It just makes you an annoying prick who relies on the aim assist because you suck at aiming down the sights. I really hope IW monitors this game and does not let hacking overrun it like COD4 and MW2. I really hope the new maps coming out are less claustrophobic and more along the vein of COD4 and MW2. I'm sorry but this will be the last Call of Duty game I purchase and if Infinity Ward doesn't step up their game, then this will probably be the last Call of Duty game for a lot of people. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD INFINITY WARD! GO BACK AND FIX CALL OF DUTY 4'S MULTIPLAYER! FOR ONCE I WOULD LIKE TO GO BACK TO THAT GAME AND ENJOY A ROUND OF TEAM DEATH MATCH WITHOUT BEING KILLED BY SOME DOUCHEBAG WHO IS GOING UNDERNEATH THE MAP OR USING WALLHACKS! Expand

The best aspect of MW3 is the special ops missions and survival mode, with its own ranking system and numerous unlocks it is enjoyable alone or with a friend. Overall it felt as if COD took a step backwards from Black OPS and just released a expansion for MW2. MW3 makes me appreciate Battlefield 3 that much more. Expand

After the days I have spent on MW and MW2, I wanted this to feel new and make me want to progress through the ranks again but there is nothing here that feels fresh or different enough to drive me to progress. The maps are just more of the same, they could have come out of either MW2 or Black Ops. I think the general sentiment that it feels like an expansion pack is absolutely right, as graphically and in design style it is so similar to the other games. Single player is the same hectic mess as ever. No idea what the story is about but the general mechanics of everything works like all the other COD games. On the higher difficulty levels the enemy AI is aggressive but hardly intelligent. It is difficult to not compare this game to battlefield 3 as they are competing for the same market share. For me BF3 has made enough of a jump from Bad Company to feel like a totally different game and worthy of my £40. Love it or hate it, the variation that BF3 offers in multiplayer through the use of scale, vehicles and equipment progression is just far superior and feels like a new experience (certainly for 360). To sum up, I am really disappointed that this franchise is not the genre defining game it once was. The maps are uninspired (Hardhat is one of the dullest multiplayer environments on 360) and the gameplay, levelling up and customisation is just far too similar to what we have all played and loved before. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you were to judge Modern Warfare 3 on its own merits then it would definitely be a 10 as the game mechanics are still very strong, however considering there have been 4 Call of Duty games since the original Modern Warfare released at a yearly rate the lack of innovation in the series thus far has to be taken into consideration. MW3 doesnt even try to innovate in any area of the game and this is why i have given it a mediocre score. The singleplayer is as bombastic and mental as previous games and is actually my favourite area of the game however it does seem that Sledgehammer games have overused some of the previous devices that made Modern Warefare exciting and at times shocking such as when the character your playing as dies or gets blown up and nearly dies. The multiplayer is one of the weakest in the series yet as it seems most if not all of the 16 maps are designed for very close quarters battles meaning most players just run around with UMP's. I think the Call of Duty brand needs to decide which developer should make the games and just release them every two years but this probably wont happen due to the large ammount of sales and revenue the games continue to rake in at the behest of more innovative game developers. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare changed the way First Person Shooters were presented from then on. Then came Modern Warfare 2, a drastic overhaul to the gui and accessibility for newcomers while adding a huge amount of unlocks to make it a significant update. Unfortunantly for gamers, Modern Warfare 3 doesn't have the as much of update. This year's entry brings withit a new singleplayer campaign that raps up previous stories nicely, if antidramaticly. (I'd be impressed if someone playing the game felt bad for some of the characters dying) Multiplayer is still there, and better than ever. Unfortunantly, th8is year's entry brings with it no major overhaul, and no real reason to play it over MW2, Black Ops, or even Call of duty 4. Compared to the sea of other Triple A games coming out this season, there is little reason to pick "this year's" modern warfare over the competition. Expand

all in all MW# is a safe bet in a solidly built game. it doesn't bring any imagination or innovation with it. maps are almost repacked and reused just some differences. the storyline for the campaign is good but it s just that. multiplayer is the same old stuff nothing new nothing that grabs you and holds you to the game.

It's great in it's own right- the fact that people would annually dish out 60 dollars for the same rehashed game, and, all in all, it is good, basic, arcade fun. It will sell over 10 million. The guns sound awful, every time I shot the M4 it made me want to shake my head. The way bad guys get treated in cut scenes will make you smile, but that's about it.

Multiplayer looks and feels like MW2. Hit detection is awful, I can't count how many times the kill cam does not match what happened. Shame on Activision/IW for taking all this money they make and not getting dedicated servers."New" Strike Packages and Maps make it seem different I guess. If you are not tired of CoD, then you will like it. If you've moved on, this will not bring you back.

Personal Opinion: Like CoD4, I bought it for the SP. Unlike CoD4, I was not pleasantly surprised at the MP. MW2 turned me away from the Franchise and toward BFBC2, Black Ops brought me back in for a month until I saw there error of my ways and went back to BC2. Feeling Disappointed in how the Console version of BF3 turned out (I have PC version, too) I was kind of hoping MW3 would reel me back in, but about a couple hours of MP made me realize how tired of this I am, and how good BF3 really is, even on 360. Take a look at some of the critics' reviews, and a lot of them take notice of this as well. But strangely, they still give the game an amazing score... very strange. In my opinion, this should have been released as an expansion pack, mainly because the game only switches up the gameplay by a little bit by fixing balancing issues and a revamped killstreak point system in hopes of inspiring some sort of cohesive teamwork and combating the plagues of air support mowing down any poor soul that steps into the open. Oh, and throw in a couple of new maps (which supposedly include old models recycled from the first Modern Warfare). Only then, I would I be willing to give my money to an obviously hungry Activision. I just wish they spent more time on going above and beyond with this franchise, aka not pumping out a game every year. But the game is a crowd favorite (and remember, just because everyone loves it, doesn't mean it's always good!) and a huge cash cow, so in the eyes of Activision working less on it and still selling millions is the best situation they could ask for. Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
