This game overall is a really good game. The graphics are amazing but still faces glitches. Will playing the Campaign I actually enjoyed, not the best I have seen but it was good. The one thing I can say though is that the servers are just terrible hopefully thats is fixed soon. Overall its a really good game with and outstanding Multiplayer.

Battlefield 3 is the perfect mix of destruction, vehicles, maps and weapons. DICE has done has done a great job and have perfected the FPS genre with this release. I have bought MW3 and this and i will probably never play MW3 after the 2 hours i played yesterday. DICE+EA+Battlefield= ****

This game is the best first person shooter i have ever tried! i love to play multiplayer, with jets, tanks and lots of other vehicles, coop is really fun too, i love to play it with my friend and other people on-line. The story is also good, i haven't played trough the whole story yet, but i am enjoying every second of it! I really recommend this game!

DICE put forth a great effort for this title. I will start off by saying that this title has been riddled with issues since launch. Issues with multiplayer have been rampant, from servers being down, to voice chat on PS3 being choppy, etc. The takeway from these issues however is the fact that despite how frustrating they can be, I simply cannot justify putting the game down. Issues with multiplayer have been rampant, from servers being down, to voice chat on PS3 being choppy, etc. The takeway from these issues however is the fact that despite how frustrating they can be, I simply cannot justify putting the game down. The graphics look a lot better and brighter, while at the same time the darks are a lot darker and ominous. There is so much depth and customization involved in the multiplayer that the game is hard to put down. Do you feel like sniping, healing? Perhaps a tank is more your style, or a jet, or a helicopter? Grab a gunner seat if you can't pilot. Or perhaps you want to boogie around the landscape with little more than 4 wheels and a prayer. Got that too. The real value in Battlefield is that there are so many strategies and ways to approach a specific map or firefight, and all of them are pretty damned fun. I have no tried single player yet, but I have never cared about single player in any Battlefield game. To me, it simply goes against what Battlefield began as; a great multiplayer experience that allows you to conduct what is arguably the closest demonstration of a war scenario to date. Finally, does it stack up with Modern Warfare 3? I don't know, it depends on how much you like Modern Warfare 2, because that is all that 3 is. Developer DICE rolled the dice with this game, and overall I think time will show they chose wisely with this endeavor. Expand

The campaign plot is not so good but the Multiplayer section is definitely awesome. But I think EA can build a training scene for noobs so they know how to use those jet fighters and vehicles instead of wasting those tactical advantages like crap.

Frostbite 2 - Huge leap on the graphics effects. EA finally ditched Windows XP/DirectX 9 support, I'd say this is very brave and great act.

    1. Large maps...yeah, yeah it slows down the game sometimes. Guess what that does....makes it more real. More room to move means more room to flank, over bound, shoot and communicate.

    2. Better weapon physics and customization.....bullet drop, loss of kinetic energy at range, shot guns that work past 50ft. For example you can get a 8x scope on your M16, but be prepared take a few shots before the guy goes down.....5.56 doesn't have knock down power over 350 yards. The fact that you can take a AK-74M and add a actual ACOG to it (once you've proved your worth with the weapon) is just cool.

    3. Varying MP sessions....Rush, fast paced survival fest that's a little TDM, a little capture the flag. Conquest, HQ style but the flag placements make you have to choose whether you stay and defend or chase down the next one. TDM......nuff said. Then, to top it off you got squad versions of this all.

    4. Vehicles.....powerful tools that aren't too overpowering and can be taken out with good team work, plus they all drive different and all have their strengths and weaknesses. (i.e. the M1 can take more hits but the T-90, or 72 cant remember, coax can almost shoot straight up for air defense).

There are some issues that have to be worked out like getting in and out of some rooms on some of the maps and debris/object that should be easily scalable or movable being impossible to do either to. Overall though the game delivers a solid shot in the arm for the FPS genre of gaming will probably spend 90% of the holidays in my Xbox.

I also like the fact that there aren't all the silly COD perks that basically are used to save you're butt if you're not a good player in general. Not having cold blooded and stuff like that was uncomfortable at first but once you get used to the game it's brilliant and a far better gaming experience that any fps I've played before. It's refreshing to see people really trying to stick to the objective and not worrying too much about k/d ratio. Rush is also a great game mode.

My real rating is 8.5, but can't so rounded it up. It would be a 9 but the re-spawn system is a little annoying, and helicopter third person view is annoying too. Recon also seems to be an underpowered class. A bit disappointed that the critics review give it less than MW2.5 but ultimately I'm pleased I didn't waste money on that (or BLOPS) and can enjoy BF3.

The X-box/PS3 experience online is a mixed bag- The pros are the combined arms feel of combat, the variety of maps and game modes, and most importantly the player base. The cons are the unlock system, the 24 player max, and the unlock system.

The highlights of the game occur when you are in a squad of people who are all talking to each other as you move across a map- in my case we took cover in a concrete building only to have a tank burst through the wall. We scattered, shouting "TANK", as the world exploded in shattered concrete and rebar around us. Those moments make the game worth the score alone.

The downside is that new players will find themselves staring into the dark, or into rubble-strewn streets, through iron sites while veterans are peering back through a bipod-stabilized, thermal-vision rifle with a heavy barrel. You'll hop in a tank to rumble across a battlefield with your basic canon as a tank on the other side of the map is firing image-enhanced guided munitions on you. There's a sense of unfairness about it.

Overall, Battlefield 3 is a good game. It repairs the flaws of the bad company series while upgrading on the good things, however, there's still some good with bad. Overall, Battlefield 3 is a good game. It repairs the flaws of the bad company series while upgrading on the good things, however, there's still some good with bad. While destroying a tank, chopper, or jet won't always render you a kill, it's also nice that the pilot of the vehicle has a chance to escape before death. The graphics are amazing even in multiplayer(where the bad company series seemed to have dumbed itself down a bit). The explosions are almost realistic and the destruction of buildings is almost jaw dropping to watch, yet feel a bit limited compared to the destruction in bad company series, in that it's much harder to blow a wall out. That said, it's also a bit more realistic in that aspect. The bullet drop and having to lead targets makes the combat aspects of the game more enjoyable for players like me that understand you're not gonna shoot the guy running across your screen half the map away in the head if you try shooting where he is instead of where he'll be. My issues with the game fall under seperate aspects. The coop. is weak at best, and the campaign feels a bit cod'esk in it's linear playstyle, yet it's still less linear than cod, but more so than the bad company series, still, having a campaign at all in a series that with 1942, vietnam, bf2, and 2142 never had a campaign, it's nice to see they put themselves in that realm and did so in a way to make them a strong competetor against the fps giant that is the cod series. With multiplayer my issues aren't with graphics, physics, or anything like that, but fall more in line with the guns and sites themselves. For instance a sniper will have to compete with bullet drop, where as a player with an assault rifle, shotgun with slugs, smg, or lmg seem to have much less issues with bullet drop. The sniper must aim above you to hit you at a certain distance, yet that guy with the saw can aim staight at you from the same distance and still hit you. it's almost rediculous how accurate weapons like saws and 240s are yet weapons like m4s and m16s are less accurate, which in my experience is just the opposite, bipod or not. Then you come into sites such as the unlocked site for each weapon which is labelled as a night vision sight, yet gives you the view of a thermal site, but yet is still blinded by flashlights and laser pointers the way and actual night vision site would be. It's a bit confusing. Perhaps one of the patches that dice releases should fix the bullet drop of non-snip weapons to be realistic, and perhaps they should give night vision sites the green hue of actual night vision and perhaps add thermal as another site that isnt' blinded by lights and lasers. Oh, and what's up with being blinded by flash lights in broad day light, while standing out in the sun??? Anyone else catch that?? Overall though, battlefield 3 is quite an enjoyable game besides the campaign and coop. As a matter of fact, I can't bring myself to keep playing the same old boring coop rounds over and over again in order to unlock all those weapons. The only one of them that really seems worth it anyway was the rex. Apart from that, I've already pulled several hours out of the game, and still have yet to make a dent in the amount of weapons, gadgets, perks, and vehicle unlocks their are in this game. So i'm knocking off half a point for each of the issues that I have with it. -0.5 for bullet drop on non-snip weapons(not realistic), -0.5 for sites and accuracy of weapons(not realistic), -0.5 for a short campaign(though it's suprising to me for a battlefield to even have a campaign), -0.5 for the weak at best coop. Overall 8. I enjoy it quite a bit, and with the back to karkand map pack we're not only getting 4 new maps, but 3 new vehicles(probably tied specifically to these maps), and 10 new weapons. Lets just hope they bring back the sip line from the battlefield 2 expansion. That would put a whole new twist on a game like this.

The campaign may need polish, but it does a good job of showing off the engines dynamic lighting and cosmetic damage. The multiplayer is a great experience and free dlc with the limited addition doesn't hurt either. The co-op lacks depth, but its still a fun playthrough with a friend and overall the game is worth its price. The characters are annoying, and this makes for an unimaginable and frustrating story that will turn off even the most diehard Battlefield fans. But, that's not what makes Battlefield is it? The multiplayer returns, following almost identically to Bad Company 2 in almost every facet. From the game modes, to the weapon sounds, this game does everything identical to BC2. The game does feel fresh though, upgraded with a new graphics engine and a new destruction engine. The game does impress in more than one way online, especially when it comes to the combat. The jets and tanks make a triumphant comeback and manages to be quite balanced for the online warfare. The destruction engine holds up well online, but not close to the standard that is in the single-player. At times, the game can feel unbalanced and spotty. The destruction engine seems to work at times, and refuses to work at others. The destruction engine also causes glitches and awkward deaths following combat. The game is good and it manages to stay fresh, even though the similarities with its predecessor being obvious. Not a bad game, and I would recommend it to anyone; especially the online. It's mainly multiplayer that will decide what game is played more. I'm not going to talk much about Call of Duty and from what I have played it's about average. The multiplayer feels very uninspired, I feel they have been milking the same cow from Modern Warfare. The last game I played was Modern Warfare 2, and it felt the same, but less.... fun? I was a huge fan of Modern Warfare, let me say, and I played it to death. I never bought Black Ops and have never heard any great praise for it. But this is a Battlefield review, so let's move on. When I heard about Battlefield for the first time, I was sitting in a Modern Warfare game, and my friend in the party was giving major acclaim to Battlefield Bad Company 2. I said "Meh." and moved on. After awhile I bought Bad Company 2. And I fell in love. With multiplayer. The campaign was hard to get into, but I was playing live so I didn't care. When Battlefield 3 came out, all of the signs of a fan-boy came out. But I'm not writing it like that. I know it has flaws. So my first impression while playing after the first day I had it was good. It had the Battlefield feel to it, it was very beautiful. The controls felt smooth, not as hectic and jerky as Call of Duty, but still fast paced in it's own special way. I played with my friend and we would talk and make strategy. It was a great time. But I have a beef with this game. Two of the classes are very over powered. Support and Engineer. RPGs flying around my head constantly is very annoying. And when they stand over a ammo drop, hey look.... unlimited rockets flying around. Not fun. I love the game, but sometimes I feel encumbered by reaction times. There is also way to much dead space in the maps. It works for the PC because of the ability of more players in a match, but not here. Once you get into the action though, you feel that sense of urgency. Al the lighting effects add to the feel, and it makes you feel immersed into the game. It has it's ups and downs. I love this game, but it gets on my nerves sometimes. Expand

I've saved my review until the game has been out for a few weeks. Most of the early reviews were unfortunately based on server problems in the first week and a horrible, HORRIBLE free beta that was released weeks before the game release that allowed people to "sample" the game. Unfortunately the beta was flush with quirks and problems giving many people a very bad opinion of a game that hadn't been released yet. Well I'm happy to say the real game is NOTHING like the Beta. IMO they never should have released that Beta. The campaign is just "OK", the multiplayer is very engaging. I used to be a Call of Duty fan but that series is so stale and recycled, this game is a breath of fresh air. I also notice that younger gamers tend to lean toward Call of Duty while Battlefield tends to attract older gamers which I appreciate. I'm very happy with my purchase. This game definitely pushes the limits of what these old game consoles can do. I believe Battlefield 3 is the reality check that game developers can now produce better software than the hardware can handle and it's time for Microsoft to release a new Xbox. Expand

Bets game ive ever played. SO much better than cod, and this is coming from a die hard cod fan! (not any more). Cod 7 is fun but nothing compared to the destruction and vehicles of Bf3 so much fun :D

If you're looking for a great single player campaign you're out of luck, rent BF3 or pick it up in the bargain bin. If you're looking for the best online multiplayer action then BF3 is your game hands down.

While Battlefield 3 was aiming to be the biggest name this holiday season, and while it has made strides towards knocking off Modern Warfare 3, it misses the mark. That's not to say it is a bad game, it's a very good one, but the polish and excitement that is found on the Call of Duty series feels missing here. Still, there are much worse games you could end up with this holiday season, and the competition between the two series should heat up significantly in the next few years.

This experience alone sums up what Battlefield 3 is about. It isn't a John Rambo run and gun shooter and it shouldn't really be compared to MW3 in terms of how you play it. For players to truly understand the Battlefield experience you need to embrace the teamwork by joining a squad and calling out your spotted enemies, as after all, sometimes you also need your back covered too.
