The single player campaign is linear but still a hell of a lot of fun there are a few repetitive things in the campaign but they are honestly easy to get around. The multiplayer is where it is at you will spend countless hours leveling up and always trying to get that next out of reach upgrade. I didn't think I would say it but Call of duty's reign on the fps genre will soon fall and there will be a new fps king. one more thing if you have a surround sound system play this game with the volume way up it is amazing how good the sound quality is and how thunderous the explosions are! Bad game...framerate is terrible (play batman, then switch to this and you'll see what I mean), single player is boring, servers have a hard time accepting connections, and then when you finally get in you're playing in a blue colored world where the maps are too large for the number of players. Already listed it on eBay - don't waste your money.

Very big let down. The campaign is horribly boring which we all already know and agree on. I'm not a big fan of the multiplayer either. I seem glitches, jerky and hard to locate enemies on the map. The graphics are nothing special. Vehicle don't make up for quality 1v1 shooting. Alot of BF3 fanboy will be happy with my review, but it is just my opinion. Their are many better shooters out their.

Ask yourself a few questions when reviewing this game, or considering any reviewers score professional or otherwise. What is the criteria for that review? What is the criteria for that review? Was it obviously a bribe that influenced it, or lack thereof? (I'm looking at you, IGN) Is the review an emotional one, based on a love for a rival game? Consider facts, and consider what this game means for the entire genre. Battlefield has been revamping its engine in revolutionary ways with every new release. Mind you, not slightly re-skinning an annual franchise. DICE is the same crew of guys, with a real sense of direction, and not jippin' its employees with empty promises. (I'm looking at you Activision, IW).

This is a military shooter with advanced physics, gritty realism and no-holds-barred combat. Two guys can shoot at each-other and both die. That doesn't happen in rival shooters. This game will continue to mean a lot to people long after the fanfare has faded, long after the bribes of reviews have been long spent. 8.5, 9.5, all insignificant to people who will dump 500 hours of time into this game with glee. Go play a game that gets rated 9.5 for 10 hours and toss it in the trash. This game is beyond being reviewed, it needs no judgment . This is what it is, and its ****ing awesome.

    Review time.
In order of what you first experience.
Visuals: 8, the game does a very good job of showing of the full potential of the xbox360. However in saying that, you can already see signs where the developers had to substitute detail in one area to maximise it in another. Eg: some areas show signs of complete unity of light, shadow and texture, while others skimp out on the above to maximise the frame-rate in high action areas. If you have a HDD, you can install the texture pack which boosts the depth of textures while adding new ones.
Sound: 10, Brilliant Sound, all authentic and the explosions sound insane. If you have a quality surround sound system the game shines.
Gameplay: 7 Ok...here's the tricky part...and il let you guys see it for yourself when you pick up the game. But the game does suffer from some akward game-play moments. Firstly maximising the graphical potential of the game has influenced the framerate. At times the game does feel slow, in others its ok. The single player story, does play well, but is rather short. However the shortness does leave you with a few memorable scenes. Online: 10, the game shines. There is no other title out there that offers such a large expanse to battle against your friends with. The huge amount of vehicles, and the experience of fighting in a true battlefield is everlasting. The sound of jets above you going nuts in dogfights, the sound of tanks in a battle in a field next to you, it all feels like your really in a game where your little self can make a huge influence. Now if only EA fixed there servers............

This game had a chance to be amazing but the single player bogged it down. Multiplayer is the same Battlefield we know of, but since nothing really new and amazing was added it gets downed a point. The single player is what really lowered the score. It sucks.

Coming from a PC gamer who has bought and played every single BF game since 1943 I have to say that I love this game. I am going to throw one negative out there and say that the campaign isn't that great. It gives a fairly good story and has a lot of action but to be honest, it's a little bit dry, pretty easy, and fairly short . I am going to throw one negative out there and say that the campaign isn't that great. It gives a fairly good story and has a lot of action but to be honest, it's a little bit dry, pretty easy, and fairly short . Also, if you didn't enjoy the BC2 campaign or the MW2 campaign, then you probably wont enjoy this one (it feels like a mixture of both). However, I personally don't care at all about the campaign so I didn't include that in my score. The multiplayer and co-op are where it's at (If I did even take it into account, I would give the game a 9.7 and just round up since I can't give that type of score).

I'll first review the co-op because I wan't to leave the best for last. To simplify my emotions about co-op, I will just say that it's everything the campaign wasn't. Seriously. It's just a very fun set of missions that I've personally enjoyed a lot and they give you a good preparation for the multiplayer. They are a little short, but they are completely worth trying out if you have a friend to play it with.

    Now on to the multiplayer:

I've been a BF fan ever since the beginning and I have to say that the multiplayer for this game is everything I expected from DICE. One thing that I particularly love about the 360 version is the amazing server browser included. This is probably one of the best browser on consoles I have experienced so far. It gives you a very wide arrange of options that I've only so far seen on PC. It's just wonderful. Plus, [DICE] servers have a very helpful line if the server is full so once someone leaves, you will instantly join into a full game. The sizes of the maps also surprised me. From videos I've seen, the maps seemed very small compared to maps in other BF games. But when I played, I was very pleased to say that maps are very large in size. I wouldn't honestly say THE largest maps I've seen like in BF2 and such but they are almost there. If you've played Heavy Metal in BC2, Caspian is about twice to three times as large. The sound is wonderful too. I get goosebumps from listening to rockets fly by my head. Also, here's a tip: go to settings>audio then switch the sound from "hi-def" to "war tapes". The sounds get even better.

There are a few problems with being on a bad team (it's very easy to get on one) but that's more a problem with the players and not the game. If you do find yourself on one, I would suggest quitting the server and finding another one. This is really nothing new though. Uneven teams has been a problem since BF:1942. But I personally have my best moments when the game has even teams.

I won't review the graphics because you people can just see for yourself. I will tell you though that you need to dwnld the high-def texture pack. It does wonders and it barely takes any time at all to install.

To sum up, I would suggest skipping the SP altogether and just going to multiplayer. If you are like me and you have to play the campaign before you play the multiplayer then I would suggest that you go for co-op. It's a much better campaign than the SP.

Most of the matches I've played, I've been disconnected from because of the servers. Last time I checked, they were down. The graphics (even with HD upgrade download) are just horrendous. Gameplay is the typical BF gameplay. Controls are jumpy. I can't truly depict how poorly this game was made. It might be true that the graphics on the PC version are terrific (for those that can afford the graphics card), but the xbox version is just pathetic.

The game was overhyped...and now people are starting to realize why EA refused to let the game be reviewed before release.

A beautiful game that epitomizes what online multiplayer should be about.

The singleplayer was only ever intended to be a tech demonstration and to judge it on that would be akin to judging Black Ops on its singleplayer, which was awful.

Really I mean come on, the Xbox 360 came out in 2005...how could anyone expect it to keep up with a next gen PC title? Considering the vastly obsolete hardware that dice had to work with, I write this review very impressed with how good they made the game look, graphics wise i can honestly say its the best on consoles period. Concerning bugs and lag online...well for lag consult your ISP, and for bugs that's just one of the flaws of frostbite 2. If you read the pc version reviews every reviewer mentions the glitches that come along with the engine, but it is forgiven due to the weighing of the pros vs. cons list. For TLDR people:

Not in the least bit a perfect game single player wise....but who wants to play battlefield single player ? Multiplayer has always been the selling point of the franchise.

And to those crying about graphics, just buy a pc since your complaining about a pc lead title...

Ok got that out of the way now for what youve been waiting for. I have played battlefiled 1942, BF 2, BFBC, BFBC 2, all the way up to battlefield 3. Ive also played the cod series. with that being said I ve been waiting for this game for 6 yrs. and I have to say Im not disapointed! The graphics are great install the hd texure pack! The 360 version looks like the pc version on required specs. which isn't bad at all! The sound in 7.1 or 5.1 you can hear everything from the buildings falling apart, literaly you can hear peices of ruble falling off of buldings. Thats awesome, Bullets fling by you teammates chater.EA did a great job of the sound mixing. Now for the game play BF 3 does a great job of bringing something for every one so to speak. You have your conquest and rush game types which take place on huge maps. while big in size they also have tight spaces. ie ally ways and building hallways to cut through. which makes it great for stake outs. All the deathmatch modes come on smaller maps they are still good size just nothing compaired to the objective based game modes. Some maps are so big you have tanks, jets, and choppers, (oh my) sorry had to. Thre prestation is good. anyone farmiler with battlefield 2 you will notice quickly that its alot like it in the menus. You can see the servers you have played on, save your favorite servers and search for what ever game type your little heart desires. With all of this being said. 6 yrs waiting 2 BFBC's l8r. Which were ok and God only knows how many COD's which is starting to get stagnet. same stuff differant coat of paint each yr. Im rambling anyway if you play well with others and play in a squad thats where BF 3 pays of big. You and your friends will have a great time with this game if your a lone wolf stick with COD! Multiplayer is where it is at. BF3 is certainly worth a look for its MP component, and there is a lot of fun to be had here. From my perspective, if you didn't enjoy Bad Company 2, then you aren't going to be won over by this instalment, but for the best part, it is worth a look. The weapons feel tight and punchy, the vehicles feel very distinct, and the graphics are some of the best avaiable on consoles. Unfortunately as a console game, BF3 fails to deliver its true potential, as the limit of 24 players on such huge maps really does limit the game from delivering the full on scale of war that it should. The pace is certainly a lot slower than that of COD games, and there is far less class customisation. Over all, BF3 is a fun, but lacking experience which only supports the fact that we need a new generation of console to provide the 64 players that games like Battlefield really deserve.

While Battlefield 3 was aiming to be the biggest name this holiday season, and while it has made strides towards knocking off Modern Warfare 3, it misses the mark. That's not to say it is a bad game, it's a very good one, but the polish and excitement that is found on the Call of Duty series feels missing here. Still, there are much worse games you could end up with this holiday season, and the competition between the two series should heat up significantly in the next few years.

This experience alone sums up what Battlefield 3 is about. It isn't a John Rambo run and gun shooter and it shouldn't really be compared to MW3 in terms of how you play it. For players to truly understand the Battlefield experience you need to embrace the teamwork by joining a squad and calling out your spotted enemies, as after all, sometimes you also need your back covered too.
