Spend the time to learn to use the game pad control, it's just like a fighter pilots look to aim, and you've incredible immersion and engagement.
I am fox, peppy, falcon.... Not so much slippy (you can keep his annoying yap)
Love this game, a true successor to lylat wars.
And it looks so good and moves so well.

Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game has a great graphics, but the story has been overused. This game has the worst controllers. Since it seems like whenever I have an arwing battle with wolf and his crew I am just going in circles and doing somersaults so I can even see him on my screen! Expand

I feel that once you get used to the controls, this game is actually pretty fun. My biggest complaint is that there isn't nearly enough levels, meaning you can get bored fast when replaying.

A very arcade and original way to play. A jewel of nintendo wii u. Entertaining, playable.

Audiovisualmente es espectácular, pero jugablemente es muy incómodo. Con acabarlo una vez ya vas que tiras y si cuentas que dura poco más de cinco horas...

After spending more time with this game, I can now say its the best in the series. So many quality of life changes, really great graphics and new enemy designs. Only thing that hurts it are the controls, but they are not to bad.

Honestly, I'm just wondering who the hell at Nintendo decided "Hey! Let's create a Star Fox game with the worst motion controls and calibration and let's make the boss fights so hard that kids will spend hours, tears and sweat in order to defeat them". Overall, the game runs solid and the music is super sick. The gamepad is integrated in the game too. Doesn't mean that's good though. Overall, the game runs solid and the music is super sick. The gamepad is integrated in the game too. Doesn't mean that's good though. It's really unnecessary and I don't understand why I can't use a freaking pro controller instead of the gamepad. What can I say, it's a Star Fox game, and Star Fox games are always cool. This one is cool as well, but I expected better. Expand

It's good. Not much more than that though. The controls are good but the game could definitely work without them so making them mandatory was kind of a dull idea. The story is just StarFox 64 with extra spice. The gameplay is varied and interesting. The soundtrack is the best in the series. It is still a re-tread of the LaylatWars story line again though. It is far from hateable, but the only thing that makes it stand out isn't all that good. Expand

This game is just awful. How did Platinum Games screw this game up so much, this is worst Star Fox game ever, heck this is one of the worst Wii U games of all time.

Oh star fox Zero, yeah its about as average and unfortunately underwhelming as most people say. Its fine, just fine, with decent sections and dialogue, complemented by some of the worst controls you can have with Wii u screen and slow sections. The boss fights and some sections can be glaringly frustratingly slow. Why do we need to keep repeating the plot of star fox 64, it feels like they held this game back by Nintendo insisting on keeping it what it was. Imagine an character action truly free star fox game with occasional rail shooter sections its could be great. Alas it was not. It feels like the star fox section in Bayonetta 2 is better than this game. Expand

I actually start liking the game. The controls didn't bothered me in the beginning, but later on you fail in missions because you get confused with the controls. This stopped me from keeping playing. So 7/10 because of the controls.

Star Fox Zero is a wonderful re-imagining of one of the most beloved games in the series, blending elements from its early history in a tasteful manner. The meatier story mode leaves you with a better sense of fulfillment over its predecessors, and while there isn’t an online leaderboard to compare best times or scores, there are other extras to keep you playing. Adapting to the new controls might take more patience than some players are willing to give, but those who stick it out are rewarded with a higher-degree of precision than previously possible. It’s by no means perfect, but it’s safe to say Miyamoto’s latest experiment is a success.

A rather halfhearted remake of a true classic, with less focus on the story of epic teamwork than one would have expected. A frustrating release for the fans, but nonetheless a fine addition to the Wii U roster.

If you can handle the gyroscope, you’re in for a quality thrill ride through the Lylat System, difficult but rewarding.
