    Unless you are a big fan, The House of the Dead: Remake is not the best way to experience this classic for the first time, and it would have probably been better off dead than revived in this form.

    THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake is an absolute disservice to the light gun classic. From the pop in to the loading times to the broken control scheme, this re-release would make even Dr. Curien cower in fear.

    The House of the Dead: Remake could have been such an easy recommendation if it controlled properly. It hits all the right notes EXCEPT for the most important ones, and I seriously cannot wrap my head around how it got released in its current state beyond a deadline that absolutely should have been pushed back. Either way, I think the Switch got the short end of the stick here… with FPS lag and bad controls to boot. At this point, you’re better off waiting for a version on another platform or at the very least waiting for a patch for this one, because this is one game that should’ve stayed dead a while longer.

    The House of the Dead is a classic and monumentally important video game. I didn’t even bat an eyelid when this popped up on the eShop. Even knowing that as a Forever Entertainment project it probably wasn’t going to be all that, my fierce loyalty to the brand caused me to buy this instantly. As I wrote in the introduction to this review, however, The House of the Dead Remake makes Uwe Boll’s film seem like a masterpiece by comparison. At least Boll had the good sense to put gratuitous B-genre exploitation nudity and unintentionally hilarious directing in his film. His film was a thing you could enjoy drunk. You play this game and you’ll just jump straight to the hangover.

However, this time they have added in plenty more reasons to replay. It’s still not quite worth the full asking price, but it helps make it a little bit more palatable. The House of the Dead is still as fun as ever, and the remake really does it justice. The controls may not be quite perfect, but they’re at least good enough. Fans of the original are sure to be pleased with the remake and I’m sure that SEGA will be happy knowing that their properties are in good hands."

    I have moved back to the times of slot machines.. I'm fall in love. For me 10/10. Can't wait for HOTD2 remake

    Super-huge change comparing to PC version from 1998. Everything is bigger, better and looks super nice (beside scenario and all things that should remain the same). Gyro aiming works perfectly (after setting it up properly – which takes a moment – but definitely worth to do it – tip => change settings both in menu and in system).. Best gyro aiming in all SWITCH games – new reference lvl for all other productions.
    Graphics are really good and dynamic (you can choose between performance or quality) – everyone will find what is most suitable for them.
    Voices, sounds and music are exactly as they should be a bit archaic, clichéd and poorly-acted.. exactly what I expected and what I enjoy. For all haters of this – THIS IS HOW THIS GAME SUPPOSED TO BE.. GET ON WITH IT..     … Full Review »
