Sep 16, 2020Great writing, you can really tell a lot of passion was put behind this project. Absolutely ruined by ring battles, they are jst annoying and ruin the flow of the game

Sep 11, 2020I loved it. It has actually funny dialogue which I haven't seen in a game in a while. It really got some chuckles out of me. The start is a bit more battle based but the further you go the more story there is. I think this is a must play on you switch

Sep 8, 2020Battles are unintuitive and frustrating;
Visuals are fine, but too paper-ish. Look at PM64, TYD and SPM: Paper-ish world does not make a good Paper Mario, and a good PM does not require one either.
And no, no real partners...
6/10 as normal gamer;
0/10 for PM series fan. -

Sep 3, 2020Everything feels built to frustrate. You move slow and battles are pointless. Some of the things the game makes you do feel like you have to look up online to figure out.
This is a step back for the paper Mario franchise. -
Sep 2, 2020Very polished experience. The story is brilliant, funny, and unexpectedly dark and somber at times. I do see a valid critique against the combat system, there were times where it felt tedious and unnecessary. And because there is no real experience system the intended reward system feels confused. Overall as an experience it is memorable and delightful.

Jul 22, 2020This game is certainly not a return to form for the series, but it has a lot of bright personality and kept me smiling throughout the whole experience!
Go into this game with an open mind, and you will probably enjoy it for what it is! -
Aug 30, 2020Amazing spectacular game and easily the best paper Mario. Fun and engaging battle system, just drop down gorgeous visuals, big expansive open world levels with tons to find and explore, the best video game music I’ve heard in a while, and the best writting the series have ever seen. Don’t listen to the bad reviews, this game is one of the best switch games.

Aug 23, 2020I had very low expectation going into origami King and honestly it surprised me. I think it's a really good adventure game, It has really cool boss fights amazing characters and really funny dialogue. I think it's much better than sticker star and a step in the right direction from colour splash. it's no TTYD but it's better than i thought it was gonna be

Aug 23, 2020This game is *LOUD* mostly boring, tedious - unengaging... *GARBAGE!!!*
...But, at least it's better... than, COLOR SPLASH...!!!! -
Aug 23, 2020A consistently hilarious and entertaining game; Paper Mario: The Origami King starts somewhat slow, but picks up in the second half with gorgeous environments, witty dialogue, and fun boss fights.

Ninty Fresh MagazineDec 21, 2020The Origami King is a game greater than the sum of its parts. It reaffirms Nintendo’s status as king of innovation, even if the folds don’t quite align. [Issue #2, p.66]
-
Dec 16, 2020Paper Mario: The Origami King arrives on Nintendo Switch with very high quality graphics, a pleasant soundtrack and a plot full of very good humor, typical of the Paper Mario series. Among countless places to visit, bosses to win, and puzzles to solve, the game can be considered one of the best in the franchise.

Oct 29, 2020Paper Mario deserves better. The prestige of a Final Fantasy veteran appropriating his magic onto a handicraft world deserves better. The unforgettable wit and lovable cast expanding Mario lore deserves better. And we know that Intelligent Systems can do better than committing themselves to a misguided identity crisis.
