Sep 10, 2018Okami Hd is the ultimate evolution of a classic. The Switch version makes no concessions, presenting everything that is expected from a port and going beyond to fit the (high) expectations of the platform. The end result is impeccable, but even if it wasn’t Amaterasu’s adventure would be recommended regardless.

Aug 13, 2018Ōkami is truly one of the most incredible games ever crafted, and you're doing yourself a disservice if you look at it as a "Zelda clone". Look past that and look closely at the story it's telling, the symbology, and where the game got its ideas from. Ōkami is to video games what something like Spirited Away is to film; it's not only beautiful and powerful, but it speaks to the very core of the Japanese soul, and because of that it's hugely educational to anyone that has an interest in the country and its culture.
-
Aug 8, 2018It’s one of my favorite Hideki Kamiya games of all time, and I was very happy to revisit Amaterasu, Issun, and the eclectic cast of characters contained within.
-
Aug 8, 2018An astounding masterpiece that reaches new heights of brilliance thanks to the Nintendo Switch.

Aug 17, 2018Okami HD is a beautiful and enjoyable game and I’m glad I finally got the chance to play through it. You now have three ways to use the Celestial Brush and each way has certain instances where it might work better than the other two. Between the great cel-shaded graphics and relaxing music and atmosphere, Okami HD is an amazing game that fans and newcomers to the game should check out.
-
Aug 10, 2018This is the best version of Okami ever. Period. The Switch’s touchscreen is a game-changer here. Painting with its own fingers is just simplier, more accurate. Wich makes it a more fun game.
-
Aug 8, 2018Okami reminds us that video games are an art, and not because they are a product of excellent quality, but because they are an avant-garde proposal, something completely different from what we are used to seeing, a visual and sound show worthy of a AAA, which will keep us on our toes throughout the adventure. Highly recommended for lovers of Japanese culture and art.
-
Oct 17, 2018This Switch release is a highpoint, as it merges multiple different methods of control into one version, and can be played anywhere at any time. Ōkami is one of the highest expressions of a video game as art, further blurring the lines between the two. It’s not just a delightful game, it’s also a historically important one, and everyone owes it to themselves to experience Ōkami, either again or for the first time.

Sep 24, 2018All in all, Okami HD on the Switch is a fantastic version of a fantastic game. Considering the incredible pedigree behind the game, perhaps it's not shocking that it's as good as it is. One of the golden classics of the PS2 era is now one of the most enjoyable games on the Switch. If you're a fan of Zelda-style games at all, give Okami HD a try. Add in almost all the improvements of the other HD releases plus a wider variety of control schemes and Switch portability to boot, and you have what's easily the ideal version of the game.
-
Aug 23, 2018Marking its first outing on a handheld device, Okami HD retains all of the elegance and charisma from even its non-HD days, packing it all into an epic adventure with a budget price and intuitive control inputs. There is a degree of repetition involved with certain battles and events, but even this takes little away from the tale that unfolds.
-
Aug 21, 2018Okami HD is a silky smooth port of a beautiful game which takes advantage of the Switch's capabilities and doesn't charge you an arm and a leg for it.
-
Aug 10, 2018The Switch version of Okami HD – with its portability, its motion controls, its touchscreen paintbrush and its compact charm – is hands own the definitive version of Okami. If you’ve never played it before, we’re happy to go as far as saying this is an essential purchase for your system. It’s a timeless classic.
-
Aug 9, 2018Another re-release for Ōkami may seem unnecessary, but the variety of options the Switch provides makes it a great fit. The motion controls may be a bit fiddly, but luckily, they’re not the only way to play. They offer a nice alternative for those interested.
-
Aug 8, 2018An old classic that’s never quite gotten the audience it deserves, Okami HD’s gorgeous art style and unique brush mechanic is perfect for Switch. Players looking for an equivalent to Zelda with an appreciation of Japanese myths and aesthetics needn’t look further.
-
Aug 8, 2018In spite of a few, mostly minor, dated problems, the raw beauty of the world made me happy to be revisiting this game.
-
Aug 8, 2018An unequaled classic...A flawless and very playable port of one of the most enchanted fairytales of all times, in the unique suibokuga style.
-
Aug 8, 2018Okami HD is an utterly fantastic piece of software, and we feel you’d be doing yourself a disservice to pass on it. For a mere twenty bucks, you can have access to a 40-hour adventure that emulates Zelda wonderfully, adds in plenty of memorable mechanics, features one of the most memorable art styles in gaming, and is completely playable on the go, to boot. Though it may be showing its age a bit visually and its combat is sometimes a little on the easy side, Okami is an important, fun, and notable landmark in gaming history — and one of the easiest recommendations we can make for your Switch library.
-
Aug 8, 2018Like a fine wine, Okami has aged wonderfully, and this HD re-release has found a perfect home on the Nintendo Switch, thanks to stellar motion controls and the ability to play on-the-go.
-
Aug 9, 2018If you haven’t played it, you should. Plain and simple. It’s worth your time, though you’ll be feeling how much time you’ve spent with it after it has consumed roughly 40 hours of your time once the credits finally roll.
-
Aug 8, 2018Like the other versions, the improvements in Okami HD for the Nintendo Switch are just audio and video related. But the touch and motion controls make this one the best versions of the original Clover game.
-
Aug 17, 2018Highly recommended for lovers of the arts and the culture of Japan.
-
Aug 12, 2018Okami HD on Switch is perhaps the best version: 1080p and locked 30 fps are balanced by portability and gyroscope controls, adding a new layer to Amaterasu's adventure.
-
Aug 24, 2018I never played Okami in any of its previous incarnations, and I feel that this was an injustice and I think it is fantastic that Capcom have continued to find ways to bring this game to as many people as possible. It is also great that Okami does not suffer from the dreaded Switch Tax, costing just $19.99, the same price as it is on the other current generation counterparts. Whether you fancy something a little different, or want to revisit a classic then grab yourself Okami and have a howling good time.
-
Aug 9, 2018Okami HD is an ode to folklore and Japanese legends. A tale crafted into a video game. An unforgettable adventure.
-
Aug 8, 2018It’s unlikely to bring in many new fans as, despite its grace and beauty, it certainly doesn’t feel like a new game. The stubborn camera is a hangover of yesteryear, as are the occasionally staid enemy encounters. But those are mild complaints compared to Okami’s many positive elements.
-
Sep 10, 2018Okami HD brings back a classic from the previous decade on a remastered version that fits perfectly with the Nintendo Switch. Thanks to its absolutely marvelous visuals, gameplay mechanics and gaming environment, Okami HD is without a doubt something that most Switch players will enjoy and which could have gone even further if its mechanics were used to the full of their potential and the minigames were more enjoyable.
-
Aug 20, 2018Okami still looks amazing after all these years, filled with personality and style. Not everything has aged as well and some parts can drag out, but outside of those moments, the game is a delight to play. If you haven’t had the chance to play Okami the best place to play it is on the Switch. If you have played it then what better way to relive your time in Nippon than being able to play it anywhere.
-
Aug 11, 2018Ōkami HD comes to another console bringing its stunning graphics and gameplay to the players of Nintendo Switch. Notwithstanding some little technical disappointments, this version of the game still displays its uniqueness as a masterpiece of artistic videogames.
-
Aug 8, 2018The convergence of Japanese folklore and a Sumi-e aesthetic over the blueprint of The Legend of Zelda created a benign opus that, eleven years later, remains unchallenged and unequaled by any scale of competition. Okami, even with its pronounced vulnerabilities, is a singular creation and merits constant preservation.
-
Aug 8, 2018Still one of the most beautiful video games ever created, not to mention the best Zelda game that never was.
-
Oct 11, 2018I can’t say that Okami will make it into my all-time favorites, but it’s memorable nonetheless. Exploring Nippon and meeting all of its goofy, painted inhabitants makes up for the repetition of combat, but it’s a shame that it didn’t quit while it was ahead — the excessive length and repetitive combat only served to dampen the things it got right.

Aug 8, 2018From crisp visuals and flawless performance to the bevy of control options available, it’s a beast of a package. Combining all of that with the ultimate thrill of having Okami on the go thanks to the portability of the Switch, this is a no-brainer grab for anyone who calls themselves a fan of action-adventure games.
