    Metroid Dread is a truly epic return for Samus Aran. After 19 years we finally have a fresh new game to sink out teeth into. I have only ever finished 4 Metroid games and those being Metroid on the NES, Fusion, Zero mission and Samus Returns. So I can say I'm a huge fan of the series.

    Metroid Dread is definitely one of the hardest Metroid games in the series and sometimes it left me    Metroid Dread is a truly epic return for Samus Aran. After 19 years we finally have a fresh new game to sink out teeth into. I have only ever finished 4 Metroid games and those being Metroid on the NES, Fusion, Zero mission and Samus Returns. So I can say I'm a huge fan of the series.

    Metroid Dread is definitely one of the hardest Metroid games in the series and sometimes it left me downright furious sometimes because of the constant deaths from the EMMI encounters. But once you actually get the arm cannon power to destroy an EMMI it is deeply satisfying. Once I killed my first EMMI I screamed at my TV in excitement. Something I haven't felt since playing Demon Souls on the PS3.

    Each area of Dread feels like a new path each and every time. It kept the overall game fresh all steps of the way and I never got bored going into each new area. It was genuinely fun to explore each and every area to find new secrets. I was a bit disappointed to see that the scan pulse from Samus Returns didnt make it into Dread but I feel that without the scan pulse it encourages the old "bomb the floor and shoot everything" approach at finding hidden breakable blocks just as we did in older Metroid titles.

    Another thing I should mention that this is the first Metroid game to run at 60 frames per second since Metroid: Other M on the Wii. And it is a sight to behold. The gameplay itself runs at a solid 60FPS at all times. But cutscenes are capped at 30FPS. Otherwise the games performance is rock solid in both portable and docked mode.

    My final thoughts are if you are old or new to the Metroid series you will enjoy this game either way, But newer fans might be a bit confused on the lore if they decide to play Dread first. Luckily the games initial opening cutscene catches you up from what happened in Fusion so you aren't completely left in the dark. It does a decent job at explaining the Metroid DNA fusion with Samus among other things. Just go out and buy it, this game had the same quality as other Nintendo titles and feels right at home in any collection.    … Expand

    De maneira geral, Samus Returns tornou toda a experiência de Metroid mais ágil e a própria Mercury Steam repete a dose com mais intensidade em Dread. A nova aventura de Samus Aran é um título que honra o próprio legado, mas em alta velocidade – e com muita tensão.

    Phenomenal Metroid game. Very few flaws. High difficulty, but fair. Tight controls. Good music. Epic engaging boss battles. Great visuals and atmosphere. This is why the genre is called METROIDvania. Better than Super Metroid? It's a tough call, but I'm leaning towards yes. Yes, really.

    It is appreciated how mercurysteam managed to bring this generation to this metroid, using everything learned from the metroid II samus return and improving it in all aspects, just maybe the soundtrack could be better but it smells like a competition to goty 2021

    As a metroid fan, this is all i could ever ask for, the movement and combat are pretty much perfect, the exposition doesn't get annoying, the bosses are stellar, the story specially in the ending sequence was really of my liking, and that ending sequence is just fantastic, very glad Nintendo didn't let down and i'm curious to know how this beauty of a franchise will live on. Only gripes with the game is the now dated exploration system, which works fine but it can really get you lost at times and the fact that you sometimes get temporarily softlocked out of alternative paths, i don't mind these details, and i don't think many people do, but have a friend or guide at hand for when you really get stuck, otherwise it's straightforward enough to complete 100% blind. If you liked Super Metroid, Hollow Knight, or just like exploration and immersion in general, this game is for you.… Expand

    From all the Metroids (all) and Metroidvanias i played, this one is the worse Metroid and just a medicore Metroidvania.

    Way to hard, way to repetetive, the controls are aweful, the map looks confusing, graphics are ok-ish and the playtime isn't worth the price, especially not for a 2D game. Sometimes you even have to find secrets to find your way. SECRETS to PROGRES. Srsly?

    Their stealth/chase sections are daunting, dread-inducing and off-putting to the new player, lead to many cheap one-hit deaths, yet for the seasoned veteran you can pretty much run to where you need to go without any danger of being captured or killed - for the most part anyway.

    Stealth sections shouldn't be something you can blitz through by sprinting through with zero f**ks given. That's the hallmarks of a bad stealth game masquerading as an action-adventure game, which reminds me a lot of Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets, except Metroid Dread has a very competently built Metroidvania beneath the surface.

    It shouldn't be counter-intuitive to sneak around and survey the situation, especially when that's far more likely to impede your progress and put you in danger.

    Most of the E.M.M.I are manageable for seasoned players. White is only a challenge because you don't unlock the Phantom Cloak until after it's dead, while Green, Yellow, even Blue can be eluded with relative ease if you know what you're doing.

    Purple E.M.M.I is without doubt the worst foe you'll face. It can see through walls, has incredible sight & hearing, and the moment you enter its domain, you had better make damn sure to haul ass and expend your Phantom Cloak for as long as possible, because one slip-up, and this thing will catch up to you and jam its blade into your sternum faster than you can say "What the f**k?"    … Expand

    Hace 8 años conocí Super Metroid. El juego que me haría conocer la saga, y desde entonces jugué el resto y espere pacientemente por una nueva entrega. La emoción que me ha hecho sentir este juego al tenerlo por fin en mis manos es indescriptible, no me imagino como se sentirán los fans más veteranos de la saga. El control y la respuesta del mismo, la movilidad y la fluidez, el sigiloHace 8 años conocí Super Metroid. El juego que me haría conocer la saga, y desde entonces jugué el resto y espere pacientemente por una nueva entrega. La emoción que me ha hecho sentir este juego al tenerlo por fin en mis manos es indescriptible, no me imagino como se sentirán los fans más veteranos de la saga. El control y la respuesta del mismo, la movilidad y la fluidez, el sigilo (quizá el único aspecto a mejorar, pero aun así, muy disfrutable). He llorado de la alegría con este juego, y no puedo hacer más que darle un 10 personalmente. Para quiénes no hayan jugado un metroid, quizá no os parezca tan bueno, pero de todas formas, objetivamente, es un juego muy pulido.… Expand

    Thank you so much to Mercury Studios and Nintendo, Metroid Dread right now is the best game ever I played it, the fun and the challenge definitely gives me the most satisfying time, everybody has to play it.

    THE best 2D Metroid game ever, hands down. Gameplay is amazing, story is great and engaging, music and atmosphere is just cheff kiss. Everything is just masterfully crafted game. This is what a game feels like when given to the right people to make it. I absolutely adore how cinematic it is and the voice acting and everything just makes you feel like a total badass. I could simp all day,THE best 2D Metroid game ever, hands down. Gameplay is amazing, story is great and engaging, music and atmosphere is just cheff kiss. Everything is just masterfully crafted game. Sorry wait 10 mins first. Die against a boss? Best watch the cut scene again. The game itself is no better than the average indie 2D platformer and a lot worse than most. It Should cost $10 and not $50. This is just Nintendo milking it’s IP, there’s nothing new or impressive here, save your money.… Expand

    Seré sincero. Solo he jugado dos juegos de la saga Metroid.
    A saber, Super Metroid, y Metroid Fusion.
    Ambos me encantaron, por lo que implica el género. Por la ambientación. Por la tensión, y la inmersión. Y claro, el backtracking. Por ello, puedo decir que esta entrega superó con creces mis expectativas... Es el juego que esperaba y mas, y en mi humilde opinión, esta a la altura de sus    Seré sincero. Solo he jugado dos juegos de la saga Metroid.
    A saber, Super Metroid, y Metroid Fusion.
    Ambos me encantaron, por lo que implica el género. Por la ambientación. Por la tensión, y la inmersión. Y claro, el backtracking.
    Por ello, puedo decir que esta entrega superó con creces mis expectativas...

    Me quedo sin palabras ante el regreso de mi caza recompensas favorita, Samus Aran. Excelente trabajo que han realizado Nintendo y Mercury Steam. Los movimientos de Samus son muy fluidos, controles adecuados. Desde el comienzo del juego te atrapa por la inmersión que te da y esto es muy importante, no deja de ser un Metroid. En muchos de los casos debes estar atento de como avanzar y eso esMe quedo sin palabras ante el regreso de mi caza recompensas favorita, Samus Aran. Excelente trabajo que han realizado Nintendo y Mercury Steam. Los movimientos de Samus son muy fluidos, controles adecuados. Desde el comienzo del juego te atrapa por la inmersión que te da y esto es muy importante, no deja de ser un Metroid. En muchos de los casos debes estar atento de como avanzar y eso es muy interesante, ya que debes observar todo el entorno. Altamente recomendado para los amantes de los videojuegos.… Expand

    Great game all around. Visuals, Frame rate and sound. Only complaint is that the controls are hard to get used to. Definitely up there with BOTW and some of the other greats specifically made for the the Switch.

    Gran final para el arco argumental de Samus con los metroid, excelente jugabilidad y un diseño artístico a la altura, Mercury Steam hizo un gran trabajo con este juego mejorando lo logrado con Samus returns, totalmente recomiendo comprar el juego.

    The game is a love letter to long time fans, this wasn’t my first metroid, it is fun to see the progression of the gameplay of the metroid franchise It feel new and familiar at the same time, definitely one of the best metroid games

    Great progress has been made in the picture and playing method. The only defect is that there are few contents. You can get through the plot in about ten hours

    Played over 20hrs and I can say it was one of the best experiences I had. Been waiting for a proper continuation to Fusion and we got it. If you want to play the best of Super and Fusion this is the game for you can't recommend it enough!

Simplemente un juego impresionante, desde pequeño no tenia esa sensación al jugar algo (me traslado a la época en la que mi papa me regalo una gameboy SP con el juego de metroid). La dificultad es buena, quisas para los mas veteranos satisfactoria, pero no se desanimen, para los nuevos jugadores, de verdad es un juego de 10, gráficamente es bueno y si te gusta el estilo del juego vas alucinar. Para no alargarme mas este juego es 100% recomendado.… Expand

    Execelente, una obra maestra y lo que le sigue… Apenas llevo una 3 horas de juego y ya es uno de mis favoritos de toda la saga tanto 2D y 3D

    After almost 20 years we finally have a sequel to the 2D series of Metroid games! Considering that, Dread does a great job of combining the new modern combat with the old elements of research and advancement, and it doesn't hurt that we have some of the best boss fights in the series. A true gem and a must have for all Switch gamers.

    Taking up the torch of a series interrupted nineteen years ago is never an easy task, but the MercurySteam studio is doing it with honors! The developers have chosen the path of security while perfectly respecting the spirit of the previous episodes, to the detriment of true modernity.
