I played through the whole game when it launched on August 2017 and it was a brand new and unique experience for me. This is a good crossover that I would have never thought of but it works. I haven't played the game since March 2018 and I am replaying it again and it is still fun. Solid purchase for any switch user.

It's a unique game, Nintendo and Ubisoft really did it this time. They took two worlds and a genre that seems to disappear and did a break table!

The game is very demanding, specially if you want to passed it without use the "easy mode". The durability is not long but is beacuase the difficulty that it entails to win with perfect score all the battle and challenges.

One thing that I need to remark is its music (special mention the BSO of world 4) and graphics (special mention to world 3). It is so great! I thought I was in a Ilumination´s Mario Movie!

Go and play it. If you are not in the genre does not matter! Mario+Rabbids is more than that!

Mario + Rabbids is a very pleasant surprise. Not only it's a great game featuring classic Nintendo characters–it's possibly the best Mario game I ever played, with the possible exception of Mario Odissey.

It may be me, but I'm not a huge fan of the Disney-like, "heroic" stiffness of Nintendo's heroes. Pulling Rabbids into their world injects a bit of joyful sloppiness and chaos into that squeaky clean (and sometimes slightly creepy) mushroom kingdom. It's like seeing Mickey Mouse's house overrun by the Simpsons–not only it works, it gives you some sort of guilty pleasure.

This game pulls off that hazardous mashup with expertise, and the result is sometimes hilarious. If you like the rabbids' animated antics, you'll find that Mario + Rabbids contains some of the funniest cutscenes in recent memory. The game also has plenty of content, and tight playability that's addictive in the best sense of the word. Its turn-based nature is a perfect fit for the Switch's pick-up/drop-down nature. And last but not least, it has extremely high production values. I usually prefer indie games over those stuffy AAA productions–but just like Nintendo does, Ubisoft proved that it knew how to build something good with all that money.

The only weak point of this game is its difficulty, that's quite uneven. The game starts at an almost perfect level of challenge, but it seems to become easier in the last two worlds–except for the final two battles, that suddenly feel unfairly hard. That being said, the spike in challenge is not as bad as it feels at first. I went from being upset by the apparently impossible challenge to beating the game in the space of a few tries, and landing that final blow on the ultimate boss was extremely satisfying.

I didn't enjoy the game so much that I feel the need to unlock all its overabundant secrets, but that's only because there are other great games to play–including Mario + Rabbids' DLC. If you have any kind of interest into turn-based tactical games, and you don't actively hate rabbids, this is a game worth playing.

Expand

The union of the world of Mario with that of the Rabbids, hilarious bunnies and at the same time with an "evil" mind, is absolutely brilliant. It offers a fast and intuitive game-play, but at the same time it manages to put the player in difficulty with different strategy and combat techniques. The story is really fun, especially thanks to the Rabbids.

A weird crossover that works just fine: fun, quite simple, challenging sometimes. Turn-based tactical games tends to be boring and technical most of the time, here it stays under the right limit of complexity.

Fun and entertaining game both for children and adults, its an excelent new take on the mario/rabbids franchise, good gameplay that can keep you entertained, combat is good, exploring is fun , it even managed to keep the classic humour the rabbids have had since we first saw them and made it make sense in the relation with mario characters.

Maybe I just don't like X-COM. This game was a bit of fun (the humor), a lot of boring (normal fights), and some frustrating (hard fights). It also didn't feel like they did a very good job of introducing you to all the various game mechanics. I got through the first major area (fought the first major boss). I doubt I'll pick it up again, and I don't think I got my money's worth out of it.

The only other gripe I would have with it is that the collectibles aren't too rewarding, Concept art and models for me were a waste of time, Collecting music tracks too. I never felt too excited when opening a chest but thats a small gripe as the game is still loads of fun. Would love to see a sequel to this in the future Expand

First game Ubisoft has made where the heroes aren't reprehensible scumbags since Ezio Auditore. Very funny and charming, but the lack of camera control when traversing the world is really annoying.

This game shows how ubisoft IS indeed capable of making a good game. There are a few flaws, however.

    - You are forced to use Mario. While I don't mind because I think mario is fantastic in this game (others don't like using him) it does hinder the team variety.

    - The game gets SOMEWHAT repetitive. Otherwise, a near must-buy for the switch

However, the game punishes you IMMENSELY if you don't play well, as you don't get highly limited skill orbs for the skill tree, sometimes making progress nearly impossible. Don;'t treat this game like your average Mario platformer or even the RPG spin-off. This game will kick you in the balls time and time again, and is defiantly not for younger players or even adults. However, the game was obviously meant for children as there is a ton of bathroom humor, rude jokes, and the abundance of the proto-minions known as the Rabbids, annoying rabbits who are infuriating both to watch and ESPECIALLY to listen too. However, the Rabbid's insanity factor has been heavily toned down from the previous rabbids game, Rabbid Party U and it's tie-in TV show Rabbids Invasion. Overall, I'll are this a crazy frog X-Com mod skin. It's annoying , obnoxious, and is irrelevant and a dead meme paired with a nearly impossible game for only the most hardcore of strategy fans. Definitely one of the best strategy games ever created. The whole tone and manner is lighter than other games on the same genre, which is pretty refreshing and fun (I don't know why this genre always brings up serious theme to it), but don't be fooled by all the cuteness as the level design is pretty challenging.

Fantastic turn based tactical shooter that makes perfect use of the Mario license even when saddled with the Rabbids license. Less depth than X-COM, but felt more enjoyable. Beautiful colors, with a big twist on normal tactical shooters.

Overall, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle brings a welcome shot of vitality to the turn-based strategy genre thanks to interesting team mechanics and a colorful Nintendo theme that sets it apart from its contemporaries. Taking one of the biggest IPs in the world and marrying it to an all new type of gameplay was a huge risk that paid off wonderfully, and I’m glad that it finally found its way to my Switch. Now, bring me a sequel with a couple of needed improvements and 100% fewer rabbids, and we’re in business…

Mario + Rabbids is an incredibly welcome surprise. I assumed that a game starring Rabbids would become grating long before completion, but my fears turned out to be unsubstantiated. Beep-0 is a great lead character, and the Rabbids' hijinks are dialed back to a level that works. This is a fun take on a tactical RPG; the simplification of hit percentages worked especially well. The game isn't without fault — greater variety in characters and levels along with more meaningful customization would be welcome — but most of the issues are minor in comparison to how much fun the game is to play. Hopefully Mario + Rabbids marks the beginning of a new series and a sequel will take these ideas further.

Ubisoft acquired Nintendo’s license, added some Rabbids in the mix and entrusted the game to its Italian studio that never developed any large game on its own. What’s more, neither the studio nor both IPs had anything to do with tactical games. I still don’t understand how Kingdom Battle turned out so good. [11/2017, p.46]
