While the changing biomes and surfaces are a nice idea, the core with its simplified farm labor is presented too lackluster and monotonous.

Harvest Moon: One World turned out to be an extremely weak project that is of interest only to the most loyal fans who are not afraid of disappointment.

This new iteration of the escape-to-the-country fantasy replaces all that was charming about earlier versions with an average adventure game.

Harvest Moon: One World feels like an unfinished release that could have been so much more but is as uninspiring as its flat, empty landscape.

Harvest Moon: One World left me wanting more. As I played, I kept waiting for things to get better, but nothing ended up exciting me. Even some of the more interesting storylines in certain town quests were overshadowed by how tedious others were, not to mention the absence of any feelings of progression given that tools can't be upgraded to make life easier. When I thought about other similar games, I wished I were playing them instead. I think it's safe to say that you won't miss out on anything by skipping this entry in the Harvest Moon series. When it comes to farming- and life simulator games, you'll definitely find better games on the Nintendo Switch.

While there is an attempt to bring some much-needed innovation to the series, One World feels too bland, too uninteresting, and it can't capture our attention for long enough. With its vague and drab world, plain characters, and simplistic, repetitive mechanics, One World fails to bring the Harvest Moon series up to contemporary standards.

If you're looking for the next Stardew Valley, this doesn't even come close. Harvest Moon: One World is a poor imitation of what the series once was, and it feels more like a rushed mobile game than a full-fledged Switch game. These games have always been about chores, but this one feels like a chore to play. In our opinion, your money is better spent on something that respects you as a fan of the genre.

It's very far from being the best game in the genre, but it's still a choice if you are a fan of this kind of farmer simulator games. Anyway, there are a lot of better games out there.

I wish the disappointment in a game series I loved as a kid wasn't enough to barrel me over emotionally. But it's just the cherry on top of a year that's proven how absolutely nothing is sacred, no one you love Is safe, and entropy destroys all things that exist in linear time (again, not to be dramatic). Harvest Moon is dead. May she rest in peace after someone finally puts her shambling corpse out of its grotesque, reanimated misery.

Better than I thought it would be. Let’s be honest, the bar was pretty low with Natsume’s recent handling of the Harvest Moon name. TheBetter than I thought it would be. Let’s be honest, the bar was pretty low with Natsume’s recent handling of the Harvest Moon name. The graphics are bad aside from the marriage candidates, and there are some quality of life issues, but ultimately I found myself having a lot of fun. Do I think it’s going to compare to the new Story of Seasons or Rune Factory 5? No. But despite that, I still like One World and want to support Natsume continuing in this direction - because I *love* these types of games and want there to be as much competition as possible in the future.

For people who are on the fence about this game - if you enjoy these types of games, get it. It may be clunky, but it’s addicting and in my opinion gets the job done and satisfies that distinct farming game craving.

It’s as if they didn’t even try. I am stunned by how lazy it is. NPC’s appear and disappear out of nowhere. There’s no object permanence. You lose energy from WALKING. I have fainted TWICE trying to walk back to my home on this gigantic, hideous map. You faint within seconds when walking in the desert. I desperately want this game to be good, but it is terrible. I have never googled “can I get a refund for a digital purchase” before. You can see the pixels on all the buildings. There are simply no excuses. Have you seen Breath of the Wild? The switch is capable of so much more than this. I wish I wouldn’t have bought this game because I resent that I supported this. The game is so boring. It has no richness, no immersion. It is empty and hopeless. Do not buy. Full Review »

Empty world, lazy textures, npcs with no names and even more emptiness everywhere.
Sadly this game is a mess.
