Better than I thought it would be. Let’s be honest, the bar was pretty low with Natsume’s recent handling of the Harvest Moon name. The graphics are bad aside from the marriage candidates, and there are some quality of life issues, but ultimately I found myself having a lot of fun. Do I think it’s going to compare to the new Story of Seasons or Rune Factory 5? No. But despite that, I stillBetter than I thought it would be. Do I think it’s going to compare to the new Story of Seasons or Rune Factory 5? No. But despite that, I still like One World and want to support Natsume continuing in this direction - because I *love* these types of games and want there to be as much competition as possible in the future.

For people who are on the fence about this game - if you enjoy these types of games, get it. It may be clunky, but it’s addicting and in my opinion gets the job done and satisfies that distinct farming game craving.

I give this game a solid 8. Could there be improvements? Yes. Unlike previous titles this does feel more like a Harvest Moon game and I got some Animal Parade vibes from it. Stamina could be fixed and after you sort the goddess out, seeds should become available in shops for reasonable prices. The negative reviews I have read so far seem to have a bias about Natsume and their treatment towards the series and previous teams reflecting on this game. Rather than an actual review of the game itself. What they did with the original bokuno games was awful but this game does show that they are trying to get back towards their roots. The harvest sprite seed foraging system is fun and unique. The expando farm is also a fun idea which helps with stamina depletion. The major npcs and their families could be fleshed out more. But maybe we will get some patches? Overall: approach this game with an open mind. It’s one of the best farming games released during the pandemic. Expand

Without going into too much detail:

It’s alright. It scratches the farming itch enough to keep me playing, and while far from perfect, I think it’s clear that Natsume is at least beginning to put some more effort in and have taken a step in the right direction. Currently there are some things lacking in the game, but they are things that can easily be fixed or improved upon if it were to

Currently there are some things lacking in the game, but they are things that can easily be fixed or improved upon if it were to receive patches or updates. As a bottom line, if you enjoy farming games you’ll probably enjoy this installment regardless, but if you are still on edge just wait for a price drop, either way it’s not too bad overall.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I personally love this game! It is interesting, sprites are cool, doc's daughter is in this from light of new hope, animals as always are cute, it's easy to garden, etc. The reasons I gave it an 8 is I don't like how it freezes, have to use d pad to save, stamina could definitely improve. I am sincerely hoping that stamina will not decrease so easily in future. Overall a good game with few problems. Expand

This game is getting too much unfair hate. People need to give it more of a chance before hating on it.

One World stays faithful to the series: once again you’ll need to slowly build up your farm and improve relationships with the neighbors. “Slowly” is the keyword here: the process is so monotonous, it takes a particular kind of gamer to enjoy Harvest Moon. [Issue#253, p.64]

While there is an attempt to bring some much-needed innovation to the series, One World feels too bland, too uninteresting, and it can't capture our attention for long enough. With its vague and drab world, plain characters, and simplistic, repetitive mechanics, One World fails to bring the Harvest Moon series up to contemporary standards.

Harvest Moon: One World is quite fun when played for the first 20+ hours. However, the lack of relatable characters definitely stands out here. The game also stumbles after completing the story to pull me back into the game for a long play session.
