I can only rate this as a single player experience, and for what it is, it would be a 9 or even a 10, because it's such cozy fun - But the one save file per system thing really blows.

I really love this game but the one thing that really bums me out is that I will never be able to play most of the time based events such as the fishing tourney due to work. I wish these events were 24 hours or have them split in the day like a morning tourney and a night tourney so that people who work can enjoy this part of the game. And it needs to be relaxing as the game-play is the same as it has been in the past (with a few more features thrown in). You will spend the whole time grinding away to upgrade your house and your little island, all the while customising everything to your taste. Nothing more to say really, there is plenty of content and it's all what you make of it.

I must say, it might not have the depth or adventure of games like Stardew Valley, but it sure is satisfying. It was a joy to revisit my island day after day just to watch it grow! If you're after a warm and cuddly life simulator, you can't go wrong really.

I'm not a big fan of the loading times to get into the game. You sit through a load to get to the title screen, then another to be greeted by Isabelle, followed by another load screen to finally start playing the game. It's unacceptable that it takes longer to load into ACNH than it takes to load into a massive game like Breath of the Wild.

Also, there's the big issue of "One island per console". This would've been made a little better if it were possible to change the "main player" after starting an island. I wonder how many people started with one primary player who no longer has any interest in playing. Now you're faced with the choice of continuing with your limited experience or starting over and losing everything.

This game could be the best game on Switch, but it's plagued by some serious issues that brings the game down for me.

I mean, when I went to go get my copy of this game, I waited in line for at least half an hour. But guess what? It was 110% worth it! I would have waited 2 hours in line if that meant I could wrap my hands around this mysterious wonder! It is such a peaceful, violence free, fantastic game that is great for anyone of any age. Today, I’m going to tell you how much of a great game Animal Crossing: New Horizons is. Without further ado, let’s get right into it!

First, you need to know what Animal Crossing: New Horizons is all about. It starts off with you, buying the Deserted Island Getaway Package. You are dropped off at a completely deserted island along with a few other random villagers. What I mean by villagers is talking animals which each have completely different personalities! For example, Jitters, the green duck who can never get enough exercise. He even dreams about running thousands of miles a day without stopping. Or Bubbles, the hippo always wearing dresses who can never stop talking about becoming a pop star. The island starts out covered in weeds and is swarming with bugs. All you and your fellow islanders have are tents with radios but as you progress, your island does too. You and other villagers begin to live in houses which you can customize to the very last piece of furniture. A museum is forged which displays fossils, art, fish and bugs that you gather. A convenience store is built where you can sell almost anything for some extra cash. The tailor shop is made which sells the finest of clothing. A town hall is installed which provides all necessary help and information to make an island that suits you! Every time I show my mom this game, she falls asleep because of the beautiful songs that the birds sing and the image of a tree’s leaves getting rustled by the gusting wind, which leads me to my next point. The audio is so realistic and the visuals are calming, colorful and just a pleasure to glance at. This game is set with real time so when it’s dark out in real life, the shooting stars rain from the dark night sky in this never ending story. Plus, you will never get bored! There are always things to do like do favors for villagers, make some paths or even expand your house! The amount of lively energy that was poured into this amazing creation is incredible! Islanders now send you mail, do yoga in front of the town hall, talk to each other about starting bands and even doing daily activities like fishing. Even for people who don’t like video games, you should give this beautiful piece of art a shot! I guarantee you will enjoy every last minute of it! Animal Crossing: New Horizons is truly a magical experience and almost whimsical.

Get when discounted and play when you don't have anything engaging. A coffee break

It's been genuinely helpful in establishing a routine while at home all day, and I owe it loads for that. On the other hand, I try to be objective on some level.
ACNH makes a number of significant improvements to player experience- but it stops so, so short. The one island per console restriction, the abysmal multiplayer that nearly (unintentionally) captures the absolutely dreadful, slow experience of going to a real airport, tool breakage that serves no gameplay purpose, excruciatingly slow animations for just about every action the player can preform, and so much more make this game so incredibly clunky. Nothing feels streamlined. Nothing feels good to interact with. The villagers have nowhere near enough dialogue to feel realistic, and at a point the gameplay loop gets extremely repetitive, and yet charm alone stops me from rating this any lower.
There's a lot to say about atmosphere in video games, and this is a prime example of the drastic effect it can have on games. If you're interested in a nice quaint experience, you should absolutely buy it. if you're looking for a good game, look elsewhere.

There's not always a ton of stuff to do everyday, which is one of my issues, but there's enough going on to keep you coming back and coming back each day.

Villagers feel reasonably alive and you actually begin caring about them, giving and receiving gifts is a nice touch. I also started out with a sisterly villager (Rocket) who always seems to give me recipes and gifts when I'm having trouble. For a lot of people this is the game that got them into Animal Crossing (it certainly is for me), and I don't think that's a problem at all as the game lays out a lot of the groundwork for you and explains a lot of the ins and outs fairly quickly. There is definitely some figuring out to do and that's fine.

Maybe the one island thing will become a problem for me in future, but at the moment it's not and I'm rather enjoying logging in every day and seeing what's new and what's going on. If you have your own Switch to have by yourself, I think you'll have fun with this game and get a lot of enjoyment out of it. For me it's a 9, for some others it might be a 5 (or lower) and that's perfectly fine. The gripes I've seen from others are legitimate, especially players who are sharing a switch as I can imagine that would get annoying so I'm not going to gloss over those but I will say it obviously hasn't been something that has affected me.

Where I think the game falls short from a 10 generally is there is a lot of waiting. Waiting can kill your enjoyment for that day and I've found myself quitting the game and waiting for the next day (which is occasionally 5am as I'm on Blathers' time). But with that said, I have logged into the game everyday since I bought it, and it's honestly a blast. 9/10 is a fair score for a game like this, at least in my opinion.

But although it is great I have two issues with this game: The lack of multiple islands on a single system have disappointed a lot of people and even though I am not bothered by it too much, because I have my own switch, I can definitely understand the criticism and my second issue is that I simply don’t enjoy talking to the villagers that much anymore. In past games villagers had more personality and could actually be a bit mean to you, in new horizons however I feel like the villagers are just always pretty nice and generic with sometimes lines repeating after you spoke to them a few times. In the predecessors I felt more attached to my villagers while in the current title they feel kind of bland and uninteresting. But despite those negatives it still makes a great game which I have put hundreds of hours into and is definitely worth it’s money. An outstanding experience but with a few drawbacks that don’t quite make it perfect in my eyes. Expand

It is a perfect life sim game with one substantial drawback - if you own only one switch console there is no way to create more than one island. It does not affect me, because even if there was an option to start separate island, I would not like to do so. However, there should be an option.
And only because of that I rate this game 9/10. Overall it is very solid game, that I recommend to anyone.

For many, Animal Crossing: New Horizons provided the perfect conduit of escapism from the uncertainty and constant change in norms that came with the COVID-19 pandemic. And it doesn't hurt that, beyond the creature comforts and good vibes, there's a genuine case to be made for New Horizons as the best Animal Crossing ever. For the type of player who is extremely focused on curation, New Horizons offers the most customizable experience to date. And yet the more time you spend engaging with everything its world has to offer, the more likely it is for a profound sense of frustration and hollowness to set in. Many improvements to the series formula feel incremental rather than revolutionary, and there's a certain clunkiness to many design elements that you might expect a series to have ironed out by its fifth main installment. Worth noting is that despite numerous updates over the last year, the game still isn't nearly as rich in features or activities as its predecessor on the Nintendo 3DS. These are largely moot points, however, because the game delivers where it counts for many: As a fever-dream of cozy fantasy, and a brief antidote to increasingly uncertain times. Expand

Easily one of my favourite games to jump into on the Nintendo Switch. Brings back the memories of playing on my GameCube, many times blown away how they managed to do something so beautiful but so simple looking. As systems moved on so did the versions of Animal Crossing. This is easily my favourite. You can fish, swim, and customize more than ever before.

Animal Crossing is what makes Nintendo unique and delivers something that is virtually infinite. I have 900 hours and notes given by Haters who Only have Xbox and never played it are useless.

Literally a wonderful, welcoming game without that disgusting slaughter of current franchises.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game would be a 10/10 if it wasn't for the fact the game is stretched along days and months just to get certain things done. I also don't appreciate how you have to pay for two separate switches, two separate games each costing 40$ and a Nintendo switch online membership. If you look past all of that the game can be really really fun especially with fishing, crafting and villagers. Not a perfect game though. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It’s still an animal crossing game so I enjoy it. However, so much content was missing from the past games. Many characters being absent besides in the roost is sad and Tortimers role in harvs island was just to give him a role as it is unfortunately a pointless role. Adding cooking is cool but I still think the game would’ve been way better online with actual games and stuff to do like tortimers island. I personally don’t like the direction of more customization and would like it to be like you are just a villager. Missing features like tortimers island and it’s contents as well as small things like seeing the size of a fish or bug really hurts the games rating. The last main issue is villagers being to nice or soft. The GCN game was way to mean but now they feel to soft and lacking personality. Overall it needed more content. Expand

It's a beautiful game, and I really enjoy the landscaping and creative freedom you have when creating your island. Unfortunately, after you finish building, there's nothing very worthwhile left to experience. I think this is why I stopped playing originally.

Compared to previous games, the events are much more focused around collecting items/DIYs than interacting with your villagers and the special visitors. As a result, every seasonal event feels sort of the same. The villagers themselves are also super boring to interact. At first, they give you tasks, but as you progress that seems to stop. Even then, the number of tasks you get isn't comparable to previous entries at all. It is very much unlike the previous games in that regard, where helping your villagers felt like a focal point. Villagers of the same personality also feel very similar. I think this is because they tend to talk about what you did yesterday, rather than asking questions or talking about themselves. I've heard this is because of the way dialogue is prioritised, not because it's limited.

The incremental updates have improved the game over time and kept things interesting, and since Nintendo says the game should have a 3 year lifespan, we can probably expect more. Long story short, if you like the idea of designing and collecting (bugs, fish, fossils, art, DIYs, items etc), buying New Horizons is well worth the time and enjoyment you'll get out of it. If you prefer the older games because of the dynamic interactions you get with villagers, or New Leaf for the interesting/varied seasonal events, maybe skip this one out.

You have to borrow the " Bell " which is the currency in this game from Tom Nook to pay the debt, players can get from doing a variety of in-game activities.
This game is based on real-time on doing the activity on the islands every activity takes time to finish. It has a free play style. You can start by building a house, decorate a garden, go fishing and do gardening or catching insects, and others. The game also has upcoming events to explore based on real-world events. Animals in your village can interact with you on your island which is the charm of this game.
The game also features seasonal events like the previous ones, such as winter or summer, with different fruits or fish and insects. You can also be able to select the region of your island which will affect the environment in the game. The uniqueness is that players can choose the location of their neighbor's home. Of course, players can be able to bond with their neighbors by interaction, and it will result in the acquisition of cool items and the events that will occur.
Animal Crossing New Horizons also has an online feature system where you and your friend's island. You can do activities together which makes the game even more fun. We have the ability to customize the island with the Terraforming feature which is a new system in the Animal Crossing franchise.

    Graphics:
The arrival of Animal Crossing New Horizons on Switch comes with great graphics performance. Because a hybrid console specification makes it perform much better than the previous games. The graphics in the game still come in the same style that looks lovely. The character design is not different from the original, but it is cute and looks very good, and has always been unique to the Animal Crossing series. The game has a very nice color scheme in design that is pleasing to all ages. The camera angle in the game can be adjusted a little.

    Soundtrack:
Nintendo has brought the talented team of musicians behind Animal Crossing: New Horizons' music back together for a beautiful acoustic performance with the stylish tropical life simulator's soundtrack that includes more than the 96 K.K. Slider songs that players can collect and listen to.

    Overview:
Animal Crossing New Horizon is very free. This game can be very enjoyable when we have to stay at home to enjoy an island full of activities to do. This game can still play for years without the same boredom. Even though the game pace looks a bit slow, there is a lot of hidden stuff in the game to unlock waiting for you to explore.

The newest entry, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, continues that tradition while elevating the gameplay to new levels. This elevation in gameplay is quite literally in-game now where a player can actually change the geography of their island. Island terraforming is debatably the biggest addition to this version of the game. In past iterations, customization was reserved for the players home and clothing, but it is now possible to modify everything from where your cliffs and rivers are located, to a coffee cup placed on an outdoor table. The debut of vast island customization options are accompanied by a robust crafting system. Players can now gather resources located across the island to craft custom furniture and tools. These new aspects feel like they were heavily influenced by survival games, like Minecraft, but they still retain the Animal Crossing charm that fans cherish.

One added survival game mainstay that has caused some outcry amongst Animal Crossing fans is tool degradation. In previous entries, tools like shovels, fishing rods, and nets could be used indefinitely without breaking, but in Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have to fight the constant battle of tools being destroyed through use. It appears that this decision was made to strengthen the need for the crafting system, however it seems to impede on the relaxing elements of the game, like fishing. One of the most frustrating aspects of this game is being in the midst of a peaceful fishing trek around the permitter of my island only for my rod to break with a half full inventory of fish. Then forcing me to return to my islands town center to craft a new one. In the past, this return to town was driven by a need to sell your goods from that fishing session. This rewarding journey into town to sell your commodities is now joined by a similar but shameful trip into town to craft another fishing rod. This new element has certainly detracted from the joyful and relaxing cornerstone of fishing in Animal Crossing games.

Though the crafting system is a cumbersome addition in regards to tools, its inclusion has certainly evolved the overall gameplay from a depth perspective. It has added more incentives to collect items and forage for resources across your island while rewarding you with interesting things to craft. Island customization is a welcome addition that can result in hours of rewarding gameplay. One of my favorite things to do is to add a small decorative piece to the island and wait to see if my wife notices when she is playing with her character. I don’t ever see my island being “complete” and I plan to constantly tweak aspects of it throughout the years.

Island customization adds to the replay-ability of the game, but something that pulls me back in even more are the seasonal updates and events that Nintendo releases for free. Two large updates were summer updates that debuted new gameplay elements to the Animal Crossing franchise like swimming in the ocean and diving to the depths of your coasts to retrieve sea creatures. Nintendo is even teasing their next big update which appears to be a Halloween themed addition. These updates provide a reason to hop back in and you will quickly find yourself sucked right back into the joyous gameplay.

One unfortunate side effect of island living in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is that it minimizes the enjoyment, previously supplied in previous entries, of adventuring to other islands. In previous entries, players could leave their continental town and take a boat ride to explore a tropical island where unique fish and items could be found. This enjoyment to escape your typical scenery has been replaced with the option to take a plane ride to randomly generated islands. Beyond plundering an island of its fruit and potentially discovering the elusive tarantula island, the incentive for players to get away isn't quite there anymore. An update that I would love to see Nintendo explore would be to diversify what you might find when taking a plane trip. Potentially discovering different biomes and fauna on these excursions would be a fantastic way to incentivize exploration and could recapture the magic of island visits from previous entries.

Overall this entry is a welcome addition to a beloved pedigree of games. Animal Crossing: New Horizons takes the chill and relaxing vibe of previous titles and modernizes it with more customization and structure. For Busch League, this game bordered a 9.5 out of 10, but features like item degradation and a less enjoyable island exploration process were steps back for the series. Busch League Gaming gives Animal Crossing: New Horizons a 9 out of 10.

The best way I can describe this game is that at times it feels like the Sims 4 but with animals. At times it can come off as just a choir and décor game were all you do is just the same thing day in and day out: go fishing, look for shells, sell or buy something, gardening, talk to neighbors who really don't have much of anything important to say. It just comes off as very repetitive with extremely slow progress. The only reason I've clocked this many hours is because I started this game off with my fiancée at first, it was fun for a while until you notice that this game is not meant to be a two person player type of game. Who ever is first player, you will have to follow them around *everywhere* they go and if you don't then you will get poofed to the location that they are in. This makes multiplayer extremely frustrating when you want to do two different things on the opposite side of the island cause it's impossible to do. One of you will just have to sit there and wait and occupy yourself with something in the immediate area first player is in until they decide to move. This game doesn't allow two or at least 3 different saves you are only stuck with one island, in my opinion, this was a terrible decision for this game and shouldn't have been done. My fiancée had lost interest at playing at one point since things were to slow to his liking, I continued playing but noticed I was getting no where with my island, not much of anything was occurring until I released my fiancée was still player one. I ended up deleting the first save and started fresh.

Once I started over, I noticed huge amount of improvement. I noticed more bugs, got more land and started meeting more characters, so that is an upside. Now that I'm somewhere in the middle of updating my new island, I released that you or your villagers can't interact with their surrounding, for the most part all of my villagers do is just walk around, talk to each other now and then, possible water the plants and that's it. Not once have a seen a villager or visitor go inside the museum, buy anything from the nook shop, you pretty much have to gift them everything. Some gifts that you gave them won't even be in theirs homes so it will be as if you never gave it to them..it just depends on what the item is. It would be nice if décor objects were interactable with my character and villagers, It's pretty to look at but just feels like pointless objects that do nothing but lying around your island. I want more than just "pretty to look at" especially with a game like animal crossing.

Lacking the ability to evict certain villagers or decorate objects in this game is bothering when this entire game is about creating your own world. I dislike that there is no option to go into town hall and evict a villager you no longer want on your island, your forced to be mean or isolate them in hopes of them wanting to move but there's no telling when that will occur same with waiting for a visitors to arrive at the campsite. It's also disappointing that you can't recolor store items or balloon gifts cause they may already come with variations, the only thing you can recolor is DIYs you make which is restrictive for no reason. Tools constantly breaking after a couple hits is huge annoyance! Recrafting the same **** over and over again is not fun after the 100th time, especially when you're adding iron to the object- it should last longer than that!

The game also has a huge problem with regeneration! I can't tell you how many times I have collected a bunch of fossils only for Blathers to tell me that one (sometimes NONE) out of many fossils I had over to him are good cause they are already in the freaking museum! Why is the island regenerating the same damn fossils!? This problem is also occurring with bottle and balloon DIYs and Nook Mile ticket islands that end up wasting 2,000 miles on cause it's the SAME empty island I've already gone to before despite them saying you can't ever visit the island again? I have yet to find any new villagers at my campsite or any of these islands. It makes traveling frustrating and not worth it at times.

This issue of blocking certain islanders to maintain 10 only caused Leif to stop showing up entirely. For the first time ever, I had to time travel (changed my time zone to Honolulu) just to get him to finally show back up again since the last time I had seen him was a while ago. I'm still playing, I paid for this game so i want to see what happens next but there's room for tons and tons of improvement.

Hours of fun creating your own island paradise. Set it up the way you want and change anytime. Ultimate control. A great way to waste several hours.

One Island per switch. What the actual? So stupid and scummy. The game itself is ok. Lots of items and ways to shape and decorate your island to make it like home. A few small changes and this game could be a lot better.

They just killed my villagers and special npc's and they let some of them sneak into the game with a threat minimum because they are so terrified that they don't even retain their respective personalities...

Jokes aside, the game is unfinished almost a year and a half after launch and there is nothing to do in it.
The hope that they change it is still there but ... It has two newscasts left.

Definitely the weakest in the series after City Folk.
Many missing features and the new features are a betrayal to the identity of the franchise.

I'm not going to lie, the hatred towards the game was justified but now, New Horizons is a fun and satisfying mix in these times of pandemic that makes it the best animal crossing in the saga

Really good game but you do have to put a lot of time in if you want to progress your island as much as possible. If you’re not worried about completely beating the game it is good just to spend 20 minutes or so on it and just walk around your island.

There are few games that I have sunk more hours into than Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It sucks you in and compells you to return day after day. It sucks you in and compells you to return day after day. It's a solid game, as you would expect, from Nintendo. There is a wealth of things to do each day, although earlier in the game it limits you a little — probably to stop it sucking away your entire life — and once you've completed the main story arc there is still plenty to do. As the game progresses the story falls away and it becomes more and more like a sandbox game.

It's not perfect, of course: dialogues are lengthy and often add nothing, and the control mechanism for tools can be infuriating at times ("no don't dig that up," "put that fence back," "I didn't want to talk to them!") And as many haters have already stated endlessly, you'll really have to have one console per player in the house since all players on a console share the same island. But in spite of its flaws it's a game that makes me feel good. I will open the game in the morning to check one or two things and then, before I know it, I realise I'm an hour late for work. The online community really makes this game too. Visiting others' islands via online multiplayer is great fun and can help new players get ahead quickly, and it's amazing just how much content (characters, items, recipes, fossils, artworks, bugs, fish, characters' dialogue, etc) they've squeezed in. Well worth the cost when I look at how many hours of ejnoyment I've received from this little gem of a game.

Лучшая ферма геймплейно, но некоторые механики вызывают вопросы.
Главный из них - почему только один остров на консоль?

If you a Long time fan then this is by far a no brainer. New to the series will find themselves playing for hours and Days unless you time travel but i say just play game as intended and you will have a game that will go on for years to come. AVOID Time Travel it will shorten your enjoyment.

I think this game is good, it just takes too long for anything important to happen. Waiting days and days for stuff that should take 5 minutes.

Good, totally enjoyable game. But for how long? I don't play that kind of games very often, so don't exactly know what could have been done better, but the game is kind of boring after a while. Sure, first weeks are exciting and all, but then there's no reason to play, maybe except for some seasonal events.

I would say it's a go-to game for NS. The game play is simple. If you like collecting things and crafting DIY stuffs, this game is really made for you. There are also holiday and seasonal items too!

my main issue with this game is compared to the older version, the characters are too nice, they are extremely nice. and that makes feel the game less enjoyable compared to the older version when you're looking to have a social interaction with the villagers of your island. the game lacks of realism and the feeling of making friends because you don't see a harsh version of your villagersmy main issue with this game is compared to the older version, the characters are too nice, they are extremely nice. and that makes feel the game less enjoyable compared to the older version when you're looking to have a social interaction with the villagers of your island. the game lacks of realism and the feeling of making friends because you don't see a harsh version of your villagers when their personalities are cranky and snooty who were made to be rude or harsh in the early friendship.

I think they need to make the villagers more natural in the next game, because at the end of the day, the villager is what makes this game so enjoyable and without that sense of realism, it makes the game feels a bit less fun.

A real discovery for me who had never played the license, at the beginning I told myself that it was only for children because of the small animals in the game. But in reality I see in this game a very good potential for future sequel, a construction game not quite complete but which is very reminiscent of or at least gently brings sims closer, especially in version 2.0. An incredible time killer. The graphics do not cause rejection, but some of the gameplay moments are rejected, in particular the problems with the creation of objects, what was the problem so that you could create objects several at a time or use the main storage location as a buffer?

Animal Crossing New Horizons is basically perfect. Full of wholesome content that helped us cope with the COVID-19 pandemics, the game keeps the heart of its predecessors while innovating enough to make it unique. It may not have won Game of the Year but it'll be the game we all remember from 2020, for sure.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a stunning new instalment in the Animal Crossing franchise, hindered only by its lack of immediate content, quality of life issues and missing returning characters and features While future updates will give the game long-term playability, for those already sipping vacation juice on their five-star islands, island life feels pretty mundane right now.

It’s full of detail, pretty small things, and surprisingly well working simulations and systems – everything polished in such a way that the player really does care about everything that’s going on. [06/2020, p.40]
