    At the dawn of the 21st century... Conglomerate PROBE-NEXUS, commonly known as Probe, begins reconstruction efforts in the eastern area of said country. Probe relocates its own base of operations to the ruined sector and builds a massive city run by the corporation. Lavished with colossal capital and cutting-edge technology, the modern-day Babylon is made up of skyscrapers that put the old high-rises to shame, the biggest shopping mall in the world, and recreational facilities one might mistake for a theme park.

    This was the dazzling birth of a symbol for the new century. It became the most essential place on the planet and was christened Zone Prime.

    The Rumble Fish is a 2D fighting game. The arcade version was developed in 2004. The arcade version of The Rumble Fish 2 came out in 2005, introducing new game mechanics and characters. It gained popularity with its sleek 2D visuals powered by S.M.A. (Smooth Model Animation), fascinating characters and strategic gameplay using 2 types of gauges.    … Expand

    The Rumble Fish 2 is a pretty good game, it has cool character design, original gameplay, and most importantly, it feels fresh enough for us to immerse ourselves in it. Its main problem is the lack of alternate gameplay modes.

    The Rumble Fish 2 has developed a cult following since its release and it’s no surprise why after finally being able to play it. It can go toe to toe with any of the other fighting games of its era. The multiple gauge system brings another element of strategy to each match, but getting past that feature, The Rumble Fish 2 delivers a polished fight experience that includes the requisite staples of the genre. The roster of fighters features several interesting designs and varied fighting styles. As with any game being available seventeen years after its original release, it may not appeal to everyone, but this is one of the top contenders viewing it through a lens of 2005 gaming.

    Despite some strange choices around online play and a story that failed to grab my interest, however, I had a great time with The Rumble Fish 2. It’s easy to pick up and play with fast-paced fights that are exactly what I look for in a fighting game. With interesting mechanics and a varied cast of interesting fighters, fans of the genre should absolutely give this throwback a shot.

    The Rumble Fish 2 is an enjoyable romp through a bit of fighting game history. It’s got some solid character designs whether you want to look cool or silly, some great moves to make each character compelling to play, and a vast set of special abilities that will tweak your character in all manner of situations. While I don’t think it’s going to cause a massive shift in the competitive scene, I think it’s going to make for a lot of fun nights beating the shirts off of your buddies in your home and down at the local tournaments.

    The Rumble Fish 2 is an interesting fighting game, featuring unique characters and also distinct mechanics. However, the port for consoles leaves something to be desired, especially in the technical part (there are no graphic filters or options in this regard) and online. At least there are some extra modes (besides Arcade) that should increase its lifespan.

    The core arcade fighting, with its persistent clothing damage and blend of vivid 2D and 3D visuals, makes it a compelling curio for fighting game faithfuls. But the package as a whole falls short of expectations, and will either need major updates or a chunky price drop moving forwards.

    Almost 20 years on from its initial arrival, The Rumble Fish 2 still packs a punch as a spunky fighter that dared to hold its own in a crowded market, powered by a fun cast, a unique look, and solid gameplay. Unfortunately, this expensive release fails to capitalize on its grand comeback, offering barebones features, lacking rudimentary options, and greedily locking characters behind paywalls. That this long-lost fighter would receive such a half-hearted presentation is hugely disappointing.

    This game has a cult following for it's combat, art, and music that is well deserved. Combo system is well tuned and has many elements that modem fighters use. Problem is that 3goo and Dimps when making this put almost zero effort into it and made some very critical errors. The Rumble Fish 2 was originally a 4:3 aspect game that they've changed to a 16:9 but did not rework any of the mechanics to compensate so a number of combos no longer work and there is no option to switch back to 4:3. Then there is the broken training mode where the dummy doesn't block properly. The online HAS NO REMATCH OPTION AND KICKS YOU BACK TO THE MAIN MENU. Also no lobbies, no ranked just casual and no ability to tell how bad your connection is to the person its matching you to before you commit to fighting and have to kill the game to back out. The lack of QoL in this port is just astonishing but wait, it gets worse. The arcade version had 3 characters that unlocked after a certain period of time each of these are now DLC ONLY @ $4 a pop! So the game is actually $42 total NOT $30 and it's a very bad port. I can't say just how utterly disappointing that Dimps would release something like this. DO NOT BUY.    … Expand

    This port is all-around bad. The gameplay is stagnant along with how bad the online structure is.
