The Last of Us will always be one of my favourite video games of all time, I’ve fully completed the main story of the original/remaster around 30 times, and put over 400 hours into TLoU remastered, and as someone who’s played the game so much I can tell just how much better this remake is in every way. The Last of Us will always be one of my favourite video games of all time, I’ve fully completed the main story of the original/remaster around 30 times, and put over 400 hours into TLoU remastered, and as someone who’s played the game so much I can tell just how much better this remake is in every way. In 2013 Naughty Dog was limited by the technology of the time on PS3, but now with this PS5 remake they were able to fully reach their original vision for TLoU. The Last of Us Part I shows what The Last of Us would’ve been like if it released in 2022 instead of 2013, and it’s beautiful. The added accessibility options are incredible as they allow more players the ability to play this game, because some people might not have been able to play the original game due to the lack of accessibility options at the time, so this remake definitely justifies its existence for many reasons. This remake keeps the same amazing story, performances, and soundtrack as the original, while improving every other aspect of the game. The Last of Us Part I is the definitive way to experience The Last of Us, the graphics, attention to detail, sound design, gameplay, AI, UI, character models, accessibility options, and more are all way better than in the original and remastered versions of the game. Also the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are awesome, they definitely add more immersion to the game, same with the 3D audio. It’s funny how people are reviewing this remake without even experiencing the remake for themselves. And people who claim to be “fans” of the original are giving the best version of the game a 0/10 which makes no sense, if you think it’s too expensive that fine, but that doesn’t justify giving the game a 0, plus the Demon’s Souls remake was also full price so why wouldn’t TLoU remake also be full price? If you’re someone who’s thinking about getting this game please only listen to the reviews from people who have actually played and completed The Last of Us Part I remake, as someone who completed it I think it’s amazing and worth it.     I'm getting really tired of people "reviewing" games they've never played... This doesn't deserve to be review bombed like that. No, it's not a remaster, it's a remake and it shows. No, it doesn't have multiplayer, who cares? Yes, they charge you 70$ for it, and it's still worth it.     The facial animations are next level, added with the amazing story and smooth gameplay. $70 dollars is a bit much but in my opinion worth it.

    Bought the PS5 and preordered this game digitally. I knew what it is in store. Played this game on PS3, but didn't expect that much of an upgrade on PS5. Awesome game became just better.

    Look, if you've played this already and aren't happy with the visual fidelity at the steep price then simply don't buy it.

    Other than that, it's really really good and definitely worth the price if you haven't experienced this amazing story yet.

    We all know story of TLOU 2. Love Joel, best character in the series. Anyway, TLOU 1 Remake offer a much improved gameplay, awesome upgraded graphics and accessibility, much better A.I and so on.

    I played TLOU Remastered on PS4 and had many fond memories of Joel and Ellie’s odyssey. Which kept me playing Factions for many years, a phenomenal offering on its own. I have just completed TLOU Part 1 on PS5. The games graphics have been overhauled, the aesthetics and attention to detail are exceptional. The narrative remains the same but I found the level of immersion to beI played TLOU Remastered on PS4 and had many fond memories of Joel and Ellie’s odyssey. Which kept me playing Factions for many years, a phenomenal offering on its own. I have just completed TLOU Part 1 on PS5. The games graphics have been overhauled, the aesthetics and attention to detail are exceptional. The narrative remains the same but I found the level of immersion to be significantly enhanced, as both combat and weapons have experienced improvements. I found myself more connected to Joel and Ellie this time around than other playthroughs (however this could also be an influence of TLOU 2). Personally I throughly enjoy this series and have no issues with any version of TLOU (I do think Part 1 is the best iteration of TLOU). Additionally in the scope of the series upon finishing Part 1. I have to strongly disagree with many of you who have issues with Part 2. After considering at length the moral and ethical ambiguities of our beloved characters I’ve come to the personal conclusion that the games are exceptional because they capture a sample of humanity in each character, they are perfectly imperfect. They don’t push narratives or identities, they simply seek to emulate human nature, the whole spectrum of good, bad and ugly. To me that’s what makes these games likely my favorites of all time.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I firstly admire its restoration. This work had to be done, what was expected from Rockstar for the Red Dead Redemption game.
    I experienced this game in 2013 and I am very happy that young people who have reached the legal age will see the best quality from it.
    I think its price is a negative point for old fans, but it should be considered that game studios have spent a lot of effort and art on such games.

    Great gameplay and 3D sound! Very under rated but the ONLY thing I don't understand is that why it supports 1440p with VRR, yet the PS5 doesn't support VRR with 1440p!?!

    Eu sou muito fã da franquia , foi minha primeira pré venda e não me arrependo, sei que tem várias mudanças que teria sido bom a Naughty Dog colocar no game como esquiva , o Joel deitar dentre outras mudanças. De qualquer forma quando zerei o the Last of Us Part 2 eu sempre me perguntei: "Como seria jogar o primeiro jogo com esses gráficos?" Bom eu descobri e ficou lindo d+ e perfeito.     I agree, it's not worth 70 dollars, but game itself is great. Can't wait for the PC version, because i think that's the main reason this remake exists. I have been playing original with PS3 emulator on PC and it's playable, but not perfect. Hopefully PC version of this remake comes soon, so i don't need to play with emulator anymore.

    Didn’t play the original and tried playing the remaster for ps4 but the graphics were still not really up to par, stopped after 20-30 minutes. Just beat the new remaster on ps5 and it’s hands down one of the best games I’ve ever played. Easily top 5. Made this account just to say so. The story and gameplay were really f’n good. Bummed I know some spoilers from part 2 even though I haven’tDidn’t play the original and tried playing the remaster for ps4 but the graphics were still not really up to par, stopped after 20-30 minutes.     Definitely worth it, especially if you haven't played the original. Everything has been remade from scratch. I didn't play the PS3 or PS4 version and it was definitely worth it for me personally. However, if you've already played the original, maybe wait for a sale.

    This was my first experience playing the last of us, and what a journey it was.
    I don't think I need to talk about how of a masterpiece the story is and how it is blended with amazing graphics and the beautiful sound track which got me in the mood and feels for sure.
    for me the 70$ was not a deal breaker since I got used to PlayStation ps5 ridiculous pricing,
    but IT IS WORTH IT !!!

    I give 10, because playing the game now on PS5 still gives me the same feeling of masterpiece as when I first play it on PS3 9 years ago. This intact feeling make it completely worth the money. This is one of the best video game of all time, it is now with graphics up to the latest technology.

    Only bad thing people have to say is that it was full price but I didn't mind to spend that price tag on it, I love it. It looked amazing and felt even better than PS3/4, obviously. One of the best games ever made and a fantastic remake.

Now the developer has rebuilt the game from the ground up, with new character models, enhanced graphics, and gameplay enhancements – many of which we saw in Part II.

    Bewarned, this review may have spoilers for The Last Of Us Part I, Left Behind, and The Last Of Us Part II.

    STORY

    It’s 2033, and the world is seemingly at its end thanks to the Cordyceps fungal infection – an infection that infiltrates the brain and turns humans into cannibalistic creatures. We once again join Joel, a smuggler who has the dangerous task of escorting 14-year old Ellie across a ravaged and dishevelled United States. On their journey they encounter many hardships, hunters and of course – the infected.

    Endure and survive.

    GAMEPLAY

    While the gameplay stays loyal to the original, it has borrowed some elements from 2020’s The Last Of Us Part II – a welcome addition. The combat and gun-handling feels a lot more fluid than the PS3 and PS4 versions of the game, which accompanies the DualSense’s haptic feedback flawlessly.

    The updated AI is unparalleled. The enemies are a lot more aggressive than in the original release. They don’t just bob up and down behind cover any more, and you are a lot more susceptible to flanking (I died, alot!). In single-player games, it’s common for friendly AI to just get in the way all the time, but Ellie and other allies in your journey are always assisting with kills and yelling observations during an encounter.

    One of the major new features in the game is the accessibility settings found within the game. Naughty Dog became pioneers of inclusion in the video game industry when they released The Last Of Us Part II, which had the largest accessibility options I’ve ever seen in a video game. While I don’t use these features, I know a lot of people do, and for them to be present in Part I is fantastic.

    The Last Of Us Part I was built on the same engine as Part II, which makes the whole journey a lot more cohesive. A game set in a post-apocalyptic world is typically depicted with a very lackluster palette, but Part 1, just like the original, has such a beautiful palette even when half the game takes place in dreary subways and sewers. The environments crafted by Naughty Dog are so well thought out; every room has a story to tell, it’s not just a messy room, it’s a story of the survivors who came before Joel and Ellie.

    VISUALS AND PERFORMANCE

    There are two graphics options presented to you when you start playing: Fidelity and Performance. Fidelity favours resolution over frame rate and targets a minimum of 30 fps, whereas performance has a balanced resolution and framerate but targets 60 fps. As a personal preference, I chose to play the game on performance mode and I was very happy with how the game ran on it. I snuck a peak at Fidelity from time to time and while it is gorgeous, I did prefer the extra frames that the performance mode gives you.

    CONTERVERSY

    Now to address the most controversial part of this game – the price tag. I would have liked a little more incentive placed into the game to purchase this $129 remake, but I definitely do not regret experiencing this enhanced journey of one of my favourite video games of all time. Just by playing this game you can understand that the Devs at Naughty Dog truly put their heart into this game and just want players to experience the original game in the best form possible. That said, if you have played the PS4 version recently, I would probably hold off on playing this for a while but if you’re like me who hasn’t played the game since The Last Of Us Part II came out, I would definitely recommend playing it now.

    THE VERDICT

    Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part I is a legendary remake of a legendary game. Any new or returning players will find this game to be an emotional and action-packed journey which will continue to stand the test of time.

All there and then some but not only those aspects alone but they feed into eachother and compliment the entire game. Resource management feeds into gameplay feeds into the world feeds into the emotion. Lo único negativo que tiene es el precio de salida, pero esto no debería ser influyente cuando la obra puede modificar su precio en el tiempo.

    ...IF you love the game, and the characters, and want to experience the DAMN HOTEL AGAIN    I'm only half done through playing this, and the complete overhaul blows my mind EVERY MINUTE.     The negative reviews are mostly about the price, which I agree shouldn't be 70usd. But when talking about the game, it's the same as the original but better. Most of the animations now look super realistic as well as the environments, and the faces.
    If you are looking to replay this masterpiece this is the version that you should be playing.

    One of the best games in history! I understand the argument of this not needing a remake but it’s still amazing and leaps above the original. If you don’t think it’s worth a full $70 then just wait for a sale but I highly recommend this version for new and veteran fans of The Last of Us.

For lack of a better term the “gamematography” is beautiful, so many shots in the game are works of art that I would hang on my walls in a heartbeat.

    the combat is now as visceral and brutal as the last of part 2 but with that classic ps3 feel still infused into the game’s core.

    The story is still the masterpiece you know but presentation can do a lot to enhance it, like I said before the character animations are so much more powerful and subtle, this elevates every cutscene and makes the story and characters feel so much more real.

    This is essentially like switching from a DVD copy to the 4K collectors edition. There isn’t anything wrong with the DVD copy but the 4K collectors edition is a special experience that every diehard fan will need to have.    … Expand

    This remake for PS5 is great and has a lot of improvements and absolute great graphics. I played the first game, the Remastered (PS4) and now the remake on PS5. Its absolutely stunning, a new experience of the game. It feels as a new game not released before, it feels realistic. As fan I'm happy to replay the whole game on this new console generation.     We all know it is the 3rd version of the first TLOU game, but we needed this beauty in Next-Gen consoles.

    Pros:

    I never played original but this is definitely one of the best games I ever played. Amazing story with awesome graphics, music and smooth gameplay. Almost cinematic feeling in your hands to play with. Both main characters are compelling and very charismatic. It was amazing experince to play this game and I am very glad that i bough it.

    The Last Of Us je dnes už kultová záležitosť. Stále mám v pamäti prezentáciu z e3 2012 kde som si pridal do pomyselného zoznamu hier, o ktoré by som mal v budúcnosti záujem práve The Last of Us. Nemal som o tej hre vytvorenú takmer žiadnu mienku, myslel som si, že to bude len ďalšia z radu „zombie“ hier. Vôbec by ma nenapadlo, že máme rok od vydania jednej z najdôležitejších resp.The Last Of Us je dnes už kultová záležitosť. Stále mám v pamäti prezentáciu z e3 2012 kde som si pridal do pomyselného zoznamu hier, o ktoré by som mal v budúcnosti záujem práve The Last of Us. Nemal som o tej hre vytvorenú takmer žiadnu mienku, myslel som si, že to bude len ďalšia z radu „zombie“ hier. Vôbec by ma nenapadlo, že máme rok od vydania jednej z najdôležitejších resp. najpútavejších či najpôsobivejších hier čo sa príbehu týka vôbec. Ja ako hráč odkojený na FPS hrách typu doom, quake,wolfenstein 3D, heretic a ich následných pokračovaniach som nebol príliš veľký fanúšik takých tých klasických konzolových hier. Staré fps hry som sa vždy chodieval hrať ku babke, kedže tá mala, resp jej syn, famózny počítač, 386ku a potom aj 486ku, kde mala wolfíka 3D, či Dooma neskôr, ale mal tam aj skákačky ako Agenta, Commander Keena a závody Indianapolis 500. Všetko vyslovene shareware verzie, nikdy to nebola plná hra. Vždy som preferoval PC, moji rodičia neboli bohatí a tak som svoje prvé PC vlastnil až niekedy okolo roku 1999 alebo 2000,či 2001, nepamätám si to presne, kde mi môj milovaný otec zaobstaral prvý PC, bol to AMD Duron 750 MHz s riva tnt2 grafikou. Hlavná myšlienka tejto kratučkej retrospektívy je v tom, že som bol doslova odkojený na FPS hrách na PC a ku konzoliam som ani nečuchol, môj jediný kontakt s konzolovou hrou bol prvý krát niekedy v roku 1996 keď sa mi podarilo dovolať do relácie Level Majstrov toho času vysielaného ešte vo VTV. Viem že som vyhral pri losovaní divokú kartu čo znamenalo účasť v budúcom diely tohto programu, vyhral som aj jednu VHS kazetu originálnu, bol to film Savate. Pamätám si matne ako som hral hru jazz jack rabbit pred vysielaním na nečisto, tá bola tuším na PC ale potom halovú verziu FIFA 97 hry, tá už bola na psx a to bol môj prvý kontakt so konzolou vôbec. Nevedel som absolútne nič, prvé ostré kolo bolo na gamepade práve jazz jack rabbit, nevedel som vôbec ako chytiť do rúk ovládač, pročko sa mi smial ako uderený psychopat ale aspoň Karnasová sa ma snažila povzbudzovať, nevedel som sa ani dopredu pohnúť a dokopy som sa nevedel ani cez prvý jednoduchý level dostať v časovom limite. Skončil som samozrejme posledný a vyhral som hru Gender Wars.

    Ale to som až príliš ďaleko odbočil od hlavnej témy, pointa bola, že som bol primárne FPS hráč až niekedy okolo roku 2011 keď som si v kamennom obchode kúpil prvú konzolu v živote, bola to Playstation 3 v zľave a sním aj niečo cez 10 hier, medzi inými aj také pecky ako Killzone 1 a 2, celú Resistance a Uncharted trilógiu, Call of duty 3 a Red Dead Redemption. Bolo pre mňa veľmi náročné hlavne tie fps hry prechádzať na ovládači, ale zvykol som si pomerne rýchlo a po pár mesiacoch som s tým nemal žiadny problém. Hlavne Uncharted hry a RDR bola taká ostrá predpríprava na The Last of Us. Pamätám si ako som napr killzone 2 a prvý resistance ale aj RDR hrával cez takú krabičku pripojenú do konzoly, penguin či ako sa to volalo, mal som v nej zapojenú klávesnicu a myšku a vedel som si pekne nastaviť a nakonfigurovať ovládanie aj keď to nebolo ako na PC, kvôli miestami vysokej odozve aj kostrbatému ovládaniu.

    Ale dosť bolo nostalgie, vrátme sa k meritu veci a tým je The Last of Us. Prvý krát som originál prešiel v lete 2013, teda týžden po oficiálnom vydaní hry na ps3. Nevedel som do čoho idem, lebo som sa poučil a na hru, ktorú som sa tešil som odmietal sledovať trailery či čítať akékoľvek články o hre. A hra ma v momente očarila, či už to bolo vyslovene brutálnou grafikou hneď na začiatku, či ešte brutálnejšou a zároveň veľmi smutnou introdukciou hlavnej postavy hry, Joela. Musím podoknúť, že jeden z dôvodov prečo mi táto hra doslova prirástla ku srdcu je aj fakt, že som hru prechádzal s mojím milovaným otcom počas leta na chalupe, bolo to presne pár mesiacov po mojich úspešných štátniciach a tak som si užíval pár mesiacov voľna tým najlepším spôsobom. Hra ma takým neuveriteľným spôsobom úplne pohltila, že som si ani neuvedomoval plynutie času. Hra vyzerala na tú dobu neskutočne, hral som ju síce na staršej 40 palcovej Full HD plazme od panasonic, ktorá hre pridávala ešte na kráse parádne nakalibrovanými farbami obrazovky. Hru som hral, kvôli môjmu otcovi s českým jazykom, vedel síce slušne po anglicky, ale aby si aj on užil príbeh tak som ich zapol pre istotu.

    Legendary game, was necesary the remake? Maybe not, but after playing it im glad they did it, best way possible to enjoy the masterpiece at its best, is a better world afther its launch, wouldnt chose to live in one where they didnt made the remake.

    Even though the $70 price is completely unjustified, the PS5 remake of The Last of Us makes the core game from PS3 to shame. The main differences is of course, the visuals, graphics, no multiplayer, and the trophies being more easier than ever.

    Ulimate edition of this timeless game, 100% faithfull to the original, theres no chahnges, just improved graphics at it should be, pc gamers are upset about their version but thats their problem, should go to pc section.

    Incredible. With awesome graphics and brilliant story, this is hands down one of the best games out there. Just loved it and recommend to anyone who loves horror or survival games.

    One of the best games I've ever played. Polished to maximum again for PS5, with emotional, deep story. It has only one flaw: you can play it for the first time only once. There's also lack of multiplayer mode in this version, but I never actually played it anyway.

    One of the best games I've ever played in my lifetime. Been a gamer since the days of SNES. I'd very much recommend this game to anyone who enjoys amazing storytelling games with an incredible cast of characters. Such an historic game that will leave you wanting more!

    As much as we love the skeleton, the way it’s been built upon here feels like a missed opportunity. The chance to incorporate Part II’s stellar gameplay evolutions into the original heart-wrenching story was there; had Naughty Dog taken it, it could have been a game-changer. Instead, this feels like an obligatory reshoot. Yes, it’s visually stunning (one of PS5’s best), and yes, things have been changed. But the end result? Too familiar. Neat extras are here, like a speedrun mode, behind the scenes videos, and commentary tracks – but we’d hoped for something bolder. [Issue#19, p.74]

    The original The Last of Us will always be my favourite PlayStation game. The narrative is amazing, the relationship between Joel and Ellie is wholesome and it all culminates into a satisfying story that will bring tears to your eyes. However, I do not recommend the remake. Even though there are extensive graphical enhancements, 60FPS support, DualSense support and a variety of accessibility options, none of this justifies the admission price. And, above all, there was really no need for this remake, the original is perfect as it is and available on PS Plus. Skip it and wait for a fat discount if you are keen to try it.
