I loved Titanfall 2, and being that this is a Respawn game I thought there was a good chance I’d really enjoy this, maybe with the true spirit of Star Wars finally returning after being muddied by so many attempts at reboots by Disney. The last game I liked was “X-Wing versus Tie Fighter”…. anyway, the game has you climbing walls and grappling like spider-man everywhere. There is wall running similar to Titanfall but in the 3rd person. Honestly the parkour and wall climbing stuff is kind of old, and beyond that you’re just slashing away with your lightsaber. The Force abilities are “meh”. If you’re a big Star Wars kid you’ll like this, but otherwise IT IS EXTREMELY OVERRATED, even with all the bugs fixed! Funny thing about bugs these days, as with Cyberpunk 2077, is it takes away from how the game is just an ok-ish game. Expand

As a SW fan, I have to say that they improved on the previous game but overall it feels rushed and unpolished. I am struggling to enjoy the game and I can't recommend it at full price. Gameplay is repetitive and combat uninspired. Platforming feels like a chore. I just don't have any fun playing.
The story is the strong point of the game but if I want story I will get a good SW novel !

The lore and the music of the Star Wars universe is just fantastic but the bugs and glitches are still all over the place and it really breaks the game's pace and immersion. I'm getting constant framerate drops, clipping, popping and textures not loading (I'm playing performance mode). Quality mode is straight up unplayable, I don't even understand why it's the main setting of the game. On the "big red flag side" (especially since the game has been out for almost half a year now), I got crashes and game breaking bugs that forced me to completely restart the playstation. The map who also was a big issue in the first game still is really hard to understand. Lastly, transitions between gameplay in cinematics look awful and clunky wich is really weird because the game itself looks most of the time gorgeous. This game must've been a nightmare to play on release and it really pains me to say this because, bugs aside, it would've been a masterpiece.

Edit: After 100%, I have to drop my score. Way too many crashes and visual glitches. The main planet is not running smoothly at all. I cannot recommend playing the game in its current state. :(

I don’t understand what’s been happening with developers lately, even in quality mode - low resolution, and in performance mode it’s just a nightmare, and even with fps drop, as if I’m back in the days of Xbox one, I’m already ready to buy pro versions of consoles, because I feel like it will only get worse.

Unfortunately, it's still hard to call it a pleasant gaming experience, and if it weren't such a long-awaited sequel to a game that I deeply liked, I'd prefer to start playing it only a couple of months after.

The combat system, gameplay, size and detail of the world are impressive. Perhaps the only thing in these aspects that was a disappointment, it's a few planets.
Only one or two large and several small ones.
When you travel through this large area at the beginning of the game, you are sure that there will be many different, large, open territories as on this planet, but alas. In fact, this is our main place of action and all other places becomes smaller and smaller.

The other disappointing thing was the plot. It's fine, but it's catastrophically short.
Actually, you'll get really great action, plot twists, cinematic events and story advancement, but in the last 10% of the game.
Except for the first hours of a fairly good story set-up, 90% of the time you will have one single goal, the MacGuffin, the Sacred Land. Information, leads and clues about which you will search for the entire game.
I can’t say that it’s completely bad, because in the process we visit a lot of pretty locations, fight various enemies and, in general, enjoy good gameplay.
But the plot, as such, is simply on pause for most of the game and moves by a bit only occasionally and in the end.

The ending itself left mixed feelings because on the one hand it tries to be complete, but without any final statements, on the other hand it leaves an infinite amount of space for any possible number and type of sequels.

Performance mode is a joke and charging £70 for something as unstable and poor looking as this is nothing short of disgusting. Graphics themselves can look very impressive in certain areas and on specific character models (at times) however the textures and overall look of the game in general is pathetically average for an exclusive next gen title. Blatantly no noticeable improvements over last gen. The story and the protagonist carries this game; as Cal Kestis, a likeable and empathetic character that continues to bring the best out of the series. His commitment as a true jedi and also someone who cares deeply for the relationships with the people around him are consistently at odds with each other, which makes for an intriguing and entertaining dynamic. The story overall is satisfying however, even with its longer length than fallen order, it still manages to feel as though it was cut short. The entire game focuses on reaching a specific location but the payoff to this falls completely short. Twists and turns keep things interesting but mostly occur towards the backend of the story adding to that feeling of an abrupt ending. Combat has been somewhat dulled down in a sense, there are now three more lightsaber stances over fallen order’s two, however, the existing lightsaber stances have been reduced to being less intricate and the new stances are watered down even more so. Frustrating development choices mean only two of the five stances can be equipped at anytime, this leads to players becoming accustomed to the same two stances that they are most proficient with, making the other three completely pointless outside of special narrative circumstances. The planets are a lot less diverse and there aren’t an abundance of locations to choose from. One location is semi open world and where the player will spend arguably 75% of the game. The other locations become increasingly smaller with only one other open location that isn’t even half the size of the first, and multiple small locations (including the final planet) that are even less of the size of the linear locations of fallen order. It’s genuinely a massive back step with the exception of the amazing semi open world location, that breathes new life into the franchise. The new cosmetic system is fantastic and gives the player a sense of input and control of the main character, all cosmetics are implemented into cutscenes and this much needed improvement enhances the experience massively. Overall Jedi survivor is still an impressive title that does truly allow you as Cal Kestis to feel like a Jedi knight, especially when free roaming the open locations picking off droids and stormtroopers, it’s that type of experience that saves this game but other elements hold it back and even go completely in the wrong direction from fallen order. Hopefully these are things that can be improved further in the third instalment. Expand

Combat feels a bit wonky and like a very unpolished version of Dark Souls. The world design is big and pretty, but also very confusing (I don’t think I’ve ever been stuck this many times in a game, simply because finding the correct path to take is a pain). Rewards for doing anything optional in the game, are kind of meaningless. Sure, they listened and made your character and lightsaber more customizable, but… what’s the point? It’s all cosmetic, and there are no gear, weapons or anything that affects gameplay besides stances. When am I ever gonna stop to look at which one of the many similar looking components, I’m using on my lightsaber?! It’s meaningless, unnecessary fluff. But besides these gripes, it’s still a functional, playable video game - it just doesn’t do anything you haven’t already played a million times before, but what it does, it does well enough. Definitely not the worst offender in terms of playing it safe, but not a game that has a unique voice either. Am I alone in being fed up with the standard AAA-formulas we keep being served? I miss the days of creativity in AAA game design. Seems like the indie scene is where all the interesting stuff keeps happening.

Unfortunately, the game is plagued with almost too many visual bugs to count making the overall experience somewhat mixed.

Survivor picks up 5 years after the events of Fallen Order and we find Cal Kestis as a full on guerilla opposition agent working to undermine the empire. The previous crew of the Mantis has broken up and scattered across the galaxy, leaving Cal feel alone and lost in his struggle against the empire. The story is a very solid Star Wars tale with great characters, interesting twists, and an engaging story arc. Every character in the game feel unique and fleshed out with their own issues, backstories, and agendas.

The game play is similar to Fallen Order, with some new lightsaber stances and force powers mixed in. Overall, I found the combat to be a little too mashy and not as intricate as I would of preferred. I almost exclusively used the blaster stance, which features a lightsaber in one hand and blaster in the other, as it was very useful in picking off enemies at a distance. The platforming is frequent and works very smoothly. My main main issue with the platforming is that there is just too much of it, by the 800th wall run it just felt like a tack on to extend certain gameplay stretches.

My main issue with the actual gameplay is the greater exploration and side activities in the game. There are hundreds of nooks and crannies to explore, rare bosses to find, etc. The game has a real rewards issue for these side activities, they mostly just reward you with new cosmetics for Cal and BD-1. It just isn't very fun or logical for Cal to find a new sideburns haircut, for example, in a treasure chest on a long abandoned and unexplored area of a planet. The game tries to sprinkle in actual rewards like skill points and force meter upgrades but it feels like these happen maybe 5% of the time.

On to the graphical issues, which are so frequent I considered abandoning the game multiple times (I played on a PS5). Performance mode (60fps) features as much screen tearing as I have ever seen in a large Triple A game, you couldn't do a full 180 or 360 turn with Cal without popping and tearing. I tried to push through on this mode because of how muddied the game looks in the 30fps quality mode, but eventually finished the back half on this quality mode. The game looks pretty drab in this mode, the lightsaber colors don't pop, the action doesn't look as fluid, and my game crashed at least 3 times in this mode.

In totality, Survivor is still one of the better Star Wars game out there, and hopefully EA and the Respawn team are able to fix its performance issues in future updates.

Only two real planets to explore (and 4 very small and linear ones) none of them are really interesting besides the two main ones...

Level design is very strange as it feels like the different areas are connected by stuff kinda floating in the air that doesn't really make a lot of sense if you think about it... kills the immersion a bit.

Beside that, gameplay feels pretty good (when the game runs properly) the new stances are fun, the crossguard is pretty badass i have to admit (even if i'm not a fan of the sequels)

There is a lot of customisation, and a lot of items to force you to explore, sometimes it's a bit much, if you're a completionist.

Anyway, even without performance issues, i think Jedi Survivor is not bad, but not a great game either, without i'ts star wars skin it would have been pretty a average game, i played it for the gameplay and the jedi fantasy, but the rest was kinda underwhelming to me.

The narrative is filled with tension, suspense, and moments of hope, drawing players into a gripping tale of survival against all odds.

The gameplay mechanics in Jedi Survivor offer a mix of intense combat and strategic decision-making. Players engage in lightsaber duels, utilizing a satisfying combat system that captures the elegance and power of wielding a lightsaber. The Force abilities add an extra layer of depth, allowing players to employ telekinesis, Force pushes, and more. The game also incorporates stealth and exploration elements, providing opportunities for players to navigate environments, solve puzzles, and make strategic choices that impact the outcome of the story.

Visually, Jedi Survivor impresses with its attention to detail and stunning environments. The character models, including the Jedi protagonist and iconic Star Wars creatures, are beautifully rendered, immersing players in a visually stunning and authentic experience.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a much bigger game than before, with plenty of new moves, collectibles and characters to discover. The size of its open-world maps means it also lacks some of the variety of its predecessor, but there is so much to see and do that you'll likely not care one jot. Perhaps the most impressive aspect is how well fleshed-out the adventure is - better even than many of the TV series and films on which it is based. This is a blockbuster in the truest sense.
