Exploring Iceland as a furry fox friend has been a real treat. It’s delicious eye candy with a satisfyingly chewy center. Yes, there were times when I hoped for a little more direction in solving puzzles. Those brand new help cards on the PlayStation 5 dashboard sure would have been nice (fingers crossed we see those when the game officially releases). That said, Spirit of the North is too beautiful and captivating to be disappointed for long. If you love games like Lost Ember, I can’t recommend adding Spirit of the North to your collection enough.

Spirit of the North – Enhanced Edition offers up a majestic, yet melancholy narrative that will bring some peace to a weary mind, or at least try to lull you to relax. Sadly, that lull can often be disrupted by the controls, as their inaccuracy might take you out of the moment and create frustration. The game does still manage to be more entertaining than not, especially with its visuals and music.

Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition is a pretty puzzle platformer, perhaps not revolutionary but for an indie game it's a good debut on PS5 from Infuse Studio. We just wish it used the Dualsense functions at all as it feels like a missed opportunity.

Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition is a beautiful remaster of an average game. If you enjoy wandering around pretty environments and solving some light puzzles, then this is a fantastic "chill out" game, but anything beyond that is somewhat forgettable. Add on some frustrating bugs and the lack of meaningful improvements over the last-gen version beyond visuals, and it isn't a must-buy for anyone who has played the original title. It's worth experiencing if you haven't played it before, but you should perhaps wait for a price drop, since the $35 price tag isn't worth it when you can purchase a last-gen copy for $20.

What you should take away from this, then, is that Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition isn’t a great game. I’d even struggle to call it good. It’s overly simple at times, and when the puzzles do ramp up, they quickly become repetitive or let down by the game’s stilted controls. But it’s not all bad. You’ll no doubt enjoy taking in the picturesque scenery and listening to the game’s wonderful soundtrack, and there are some pockets of fun to be found. If you’re after something a little bit different and have a lot of patience, give it a try, especially if you like foxes. If not, steer clear, or maybe pick it up in a sale.

What Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition does, it does well. Essentially, what is on offer here is a beautiful relaxing experience accompanied by a haunting and fitting soundtrack. Occasionally some sort of gameplay element and extremely light puzzling will be experienced, although this is often hampered by janky controls and glitching. The sheer gorgeousness of the world old red inhabits is worthy of admission alone, and the overall style and presentation of the package is what elevates this from "leave well alone" to "give it a lazy Sunday try." If already owning the original release, there's nothing here to justify jumping back in for, but for newcomers looking for something a bit different, certainly consider giving this fox a fumble.

As a relaxing, meditative experience, Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition succeeds; as a video game, even within a genre based on light gameplay, Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition is a pleasant, dull distraction that is hard to justify for those looking to actually play something.

WhileSpirit of the North: Enhanced Edition is an amazing experience, blending video games with art. A peaceful and relaxing game to play. While the lack of "action" due to the game lacking enemies, Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition relies on puzzles and strategy to entertain the player.

The game is stunning visually, a great improvement on the standard edition of the game, and shows off nicely the added power in the PlayStation 5. The art design, soundtrack, and environment are top notch, working together to create an unforgettable experience. The game is a definite change of pace from most, and some will find the puzzles and style tedious or boring, however, those willing to undertake the task and sit back and enjoy the world created in Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition are in for a treat.

One of the best games available on the PlayStation 5, and one of the most surprisingly pleasant titles I have experienced in awhile. Highly recommended.

The controls are a bit toughter then in call of duty but dont forget you play a fox ffs not a marine. Some people may be as well luck of knowlage that fox actually in some mitology where know as a the one who can see spirits and can travel bettwen two worlds. The music is a masterpice in this adventure, sad that this game is so short. Its good to take a finger off sometimes from cod and play something wirh ambitious then just brainless shooting. Expand

Spirit of the North is a very pretty explosion platforming game with some of the most amazing environmental storytelling.

I have been playing games my whole life, and this game gave me MOTION SICKNESS. At first I didn't know what was going on. I stopped playing after an hour and I couldn't understand why I felt so terrible. When I played the second time and it happened again, I realized it was the game. That being said, I finished the game in two days and I'm a pretty SLOW player, and the plot really never made sense. I'm okay with open ended game but it isn't truly an open world. Also, there are a lot of places you can get stuck. I had to reset the game several times when I got stuck in a cave with literally no way to get out. There are also ways where you can kind of...cheat, that is, clearly not do what the game intends, in order to get past the level, which is fine in nature, but from playing this game, it's not SUPPOSED to be built like that. It's just glitchy. Don't waste your money. Expand
