The addition of 12 underplayed Game Gear Sonic titles and a playable Amy Rose are more than welcome in this beefed up version of Sonic Origins.

Sonic Origins Plus is inching toward being a definitive Sonic the Hedgehog anthology of classic games, some of which are remastered. The inclusion of Amy and the Game Gear titles are arguably two steps forward, but the quality of those emulated titles in comparison to their remastered counterparts and lack of Genesis and Master System titles are two steps back. Either way, for Sonic fans who do not yet own Sonic Origins on their PS5, Sonic Origins Plus should be a very easy recommendation.

Even while retaining some flaws, this is a comprehensive collection that will attract any fan of Sonic adventures in particular and platforming games in general.

Sonic Origins was great, and Sonic Origins Plus is great plus. It’s that simple. It’s a fun collection made a little more fun with the adequate addition of Amy Rose, Knuckles in Sonic CD, and a dozen emulated Game Gear games. Some of those Game Gear games I dare say are even still worth playing today, especially Sonic Triple Trouble. Sonic Origins Plus also adds in the Classic Music Pack and Premium Fun Pack add-on content that was made available for the original release. So if you want to play most of the classic Sonic games ever made in one place, you might as well pick this up and have a fun time.

This Sonic package is a complete and veritable explosion of ‘90s Sonic nostalgia.

In its current state, Sonic Origins Plus feels like a missed opportunity. I still recommend it to own these classic Sonic games on console or PC, but I'm hoping Sega fixes the scaling at least in the future.

If you’ve already got the base game, I can’t imagine you’ll get much out of Origins Plus. If you grew up playing the Game Gear, great news! These are twelve colorful trips down memory lane. Otherwise, I don’t recommend it. Turns out Sega’s first portable gaming experiment aged rather poorly. Sonic Origins is a fun and accessible way to play Sonic’s greatest hits. But Origins Plus spends too much time on bland, awful games.

Nowhere near as bad as people think. It's not a full price £60 game. It's less than half of tat depending on where you go. Patches fromNowhere near as bad as people think. It's not a full price £60 game. It's less than half of tat depending on where you go. Patches from previous Sonic Origins are on by default, so it runs better.

As for the content. It has loads of content. Mirror mode, challenges, new characters on old games and a whopping 16 games to play. Including many that people never got much a chance to play. For example Tails Adventure and the alternate version of Sonic 1 with Bridge Zone in it. Is it perfect? No. Is it anything special? Not really. But it's a nice package all in all. For its low price, it's more than fine. If you've played all the games before. Maybe avoid it though. Challenges and Mirror mode are fine but not as a while worth the sale. But if you're missing any games, it's the place to be.

There are plenty of features. So just do your research and work it out for yourself.

Literally the best way to play Sonic 1, 2 and 3. It's upscaled for modern TVs, the extras are great, it puts a proper spin dash in Sonic 1, all characters are playable across all titles, there's a pretty good mission mode, YOU CAN RETRY CHAOS EMERALD CHALLENGES! So much good stuff. Why a 7 then you ask? It made me play through Sonic CD. It's the only downside. Truly abysmal, but necessary to see all the connecting cutscenes across the game (which are also awesome as its the same team that did Sonic Mania adventures animated them). Games unbelievable aside from that. Expand
