Buggy, barren open world lacking detail and environment other than plain grass, bad game but OST good like other sonic games.

Sonic Team have found their footing again, and I can't wait for more in the future.

An absolutely awesome game, by far surpassing anything that Sonic Team has made since Sonic Unleashed. Well thought out, amazing music, excellent gameplay and a wonderful loop. Please take a chance with this! You will not be disappointed.

From the controls, to the music, to the combat, to the story, and to the boss fights, Sonic Frontiers is the best sonic game in a long while and is a blast to play through From beginning to end. And while it is Far from perfect, It is a good step forward for the sonic series as a whole, and in my eyes it's a 10/10 for me. No matter what some guy on the internet tries to tell me.

Fantastic game honestly, had a blast playing it, definitely seemed like Sonic team took this one seriously and executed it in a fantastic way, I hope this momentum can keep up for the future sonic games.

Insert filler here in order to fit the 75 character quota

Genuinely a crime how this game that has constant pop in, bugs, and extremely visually unappealing level design that looks like it was a bunch of assets scrapped together in Unity in baby's first rollercoaster game has a higher user review score than Elden Ring or MGSV

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a very enjoyable game to play. My biggest issue being the cyberspace levels feel weird to play often, while not being completely unplayable but definitely need working on. There is also what I've seen so far that the last two islands were actually part of Kronos but split into 2 new islands which is a bit disappointing. but fortunately the main game is a blast. It's fun to just run around and explore the islands and talk to the characters and delve into the lore and story of the game as well as the occasional mention to pass sonic games. The bosses are very fun to fight but the final boss I didn't mind it too much but it definitely wasn't the best. The game definitely should be tried out though, it's pretty addictive. I got a point where I was hunting down mini bosses just for sport. Definitely give it a try, especially ok PC since mods are being made to make the cyberspace levels more fun to play, and hopefully maybe change their aesthetics to have more than just 4 varying locations Expand

normally i never review games but this game definitely squeezed one out of me. what a remarkable step up from sonic forces! the game isn't perfect, absolutely not, games rarely ever are. but this was an enjoyable experience for me through and through, controlling sonic, despite occasional shortcomings was inherently fun and gratifying, the story kept me very engaged and the music is anormally i never review games but this game definitely squeezed one out of me. what a remarkable step up from sonic forces! the game isn't perfect, absolutely not, games rarely ever are. but this was an enjoyable experience for me through and through, controlling sonic, despite occasional shortcomings was inherently fun and gratifying, the story kept me very engaged and the music is a 10/10 in my eyes. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sonic Frontiers is a nice experiment that doesn't overstay his welcome. Fun open map challenges, good fights animations and short "bonus level" (the cyberlevel) you actually need to remember the layout for higher ranks.
The story is more serious and what Forces failed to be. Sad note on the camera and the pop in which most of the time do not help and make you fail jumps

One of the best 3-D sonic games in years. Had an amazing time going through the Starfall islands.
Wish they were more things to do in the open world and have patches for Poppins, but overall a solid game

Sonic Team finally listened to fans, and the era of childish stories, restrictive gameplay, and unchallenging level design is behind us. This game is a love letter to us, and an apology. The controls are fluid and fun, the maps are huge and interesting to explore, the story is serious and nuanced, and the characters act like themselves again. Thank you, SEGA.

I don’t understand how anyone can like this game. It’s clearly unpolished and full of jank. Any who has played good games with good stories wouldn’t like this. Sonic’s speed is run in a so called open zone yes, but I can do that with any other fangame if I wanted to run around in a empt sandbox with poorly designed enemies.

My only substantial criticism of the game is its ending- it grows very clear that Sonic Team is a group of 50-60 people making a game that should have had much larger staff and a much larger budget. As beyond their control as it is, the last few areas of the game and the final bosses seem to indicate that they ran out of steam, unfortunately. That being said, this game is still incredibly fun, and I will gladly 100% it a second time. Maybe even a third. Expand

Sonic Frontiers is the best 3D Sonic game I have ever played, which is all of them. Never before has Sonic felt this fun to me. Never before has Sonic felt this fun to me. The way he controls captures a sense of speed and handling I didn't think possible given past experience with the various different gameplay styles the series has had. Being able to run around the various islands in this new "open-zone" format left me wanting to explore every nook and cranny as fast as I could. The combat, while nothing ground-breaking as far as industry standards go, led to exhilarating encounters with interesting enemies which is something I can honestly say I never expected out of this franchise. The Cyberspace levels, the classic Zones of the game which, admittedly, I wasn't a fan of at the start of this adventure, quickly made me proud to be a longtime fan of the franchise. Many of the level layouts were ripped from prior titles and because of that it actually became a fun little challenge for myself to see if I could remember which game a particular level layout was from.

The music, as is the case with nearly every game in the franchise, is phenomenal. Sonic has never been a stranger to rock and roll with many of its prior soundtracks being comprised of a mix of "butt rock," and synth-pop, but I don't think I've ever heard any themes that veer this hard into metalcore. The boss themes go HARD. With music composed by Sleeping with Sirens, Dangerkids, Nathan Sharp, and One Ok Rock, this soundtrack leaves you wanting to bang your head as you smack around some gargantuan eldritch abominations.

Yes, I said eldritch abominations. Not the first time the series has dipped into some weird elder god territory, but this may be the best a story of this caliber has ever been handled. The story helmed by Ian Flynn is full to the brim with lore and callbacks and for someone like me, I feel right at home. I feel seen. For the past decade or so, it felt as though Sonic was running away from its past, ignoring established rules and canon, or poking at them in a very meta, mocking kind of way. This game embraces the insanity whole-hog, and served as a reminder of the many reasons why I loved the series, and these characters, as much as I did when I was a kid.

Ultimately, that's how I feel about this game. It makes me feel like a kid again. I feel no shame or guilt over how I feel about this series for the first time in a very, VERY long time. It feels like an old friend has finally come home after losing his way. If you have any interest at all in Sonic Frontiers, I cannot recommend it enough. It left me smiling from ear to ear throughout a majority of my journey. While it may not be a perfect game, it is absolutely a contender for game of the year, in my eyes.

Probably the best Sonic title in the last 20 years, if not ever. Frontiers' story is phenomenal (the slapstick era is FINALLY over), and the gameplay is immersive enough to keep you playing for hours and hours. I love this game.

The game final boss feels like a weird design decision, but the rest of the bosses were really good! keep that up! The open zones needs a little bit more of enemies to play with the mini bosses are great! Also I believe the challengers, some are really easy, maybe some platforming would be good, sometimes, they are too generous, specially if you already got hold of the controllers, I suggest Zone-Based challenges example: "bring water to X location for dessert zones" or "get from this lo cation to this location with some platforming". The combat is fun and good, is not something I'd like the focus of a sonic game to be on, but it's still fun. The grinding system gets tedious, but the fishing minigame it's the perfect balance for taking a break and also progressing the game. Exited on how you will improve the format! And I am waiting for the next sonic game. Thanks Sonic Team and SEGA. Expand

The idea and vision of the game is absolutely fabulous. In practice, however, the game is brought down by its execution, which you can see through after a short while and then the game has nothing to surprise you with. [Issue#324]

There is nothing remotely redeeming about this game. Nothing that even the most die-hard loyal Sonic Fans would or should advocate for. I hope that one day someone who cares enough about this franchise could give us something-anything of substance. A fan can hope, can’t they? A fan can hope.

Finally, after almost 25years of half measures and mostly mediocre titles, Sonic has finally reached the 3D levels of gameplay it needed to reach. Yes, the pop in is absolutely inexcusable and the ancient gatekeeping grindy methods damage the flow of the game for no reason, but a wonderfully built base exists here, with a highly entertaining adventure in wonderfully melancholic world and a surprisingly well founded story, thankfully clean of Sonic’s annoying 3rd tier friends!
